We completed our home late last year and have had a really positive experience overall. From the beginning, the process felt collaborative and well managed. We were encouraged to be involved in the design and felt that our ideas and preferences were genuinely listened to, which made the whole experience feel personal and considered. … Read more · 1
Communication throughout the build was clear and reassuring, and we always felt confident that the project was being handled properly. What stood out most was how smooth and organised the process felt, especially compared to how stressful building can sometimes be.
Now that we’re living in the home, it really reflects how we wanted to live. The experience of building was just as important as the finished result, and we’re very happy with both.
This is a home we plan to enjoy for many years to come.
Peter knows the industry well, organised, professional, and good communication. Value for money. Peter and his team done a great job with our split level build, many people also praised our new home for its quality and looks. Show details · 1
***** Top care factor with Peter at Leonard Homes. We haven't built yet but when we do, we know he's our top choice and hope he and his team are available! He was so helpful in the initial layout and design process - we had several iterations of a modified floor plan and he was always happy to tweak things and discuss price estimates. someone who is professional to work with and clearly respects your home design process, there's a good chance you'll find what you're looking for here.
We built with Leonard homes and moved in a few months ago. We love our new Leonard home! The build process did have its issues but that’s expected when building as there are so many unforeseen things that come up. The communication from Peter and Tom was great! They kept us updated on what was going on and that helped us understand. Another good… Read more · 1
thing is we have 12 months to raise any issues we find. We are making a list of issues but we haven’t sent it yet. However the few issues we initially did raise .. Tom was great! He sent someone pretty much straight away and the issues were resolved. I’m hopeful that the issues in our list will be actioned as well. Thank you to Tom and Peter for making our family home become a reality.

This review reflects my personal experience and is shared to help other homeowners make informed decisions. Leonard Homes declared Practical Completion while the Form 21 (Final Inspection Certificate) was still missing. This certificate is a mandatory compliance document under Queensland building regulations, and without it, a property cannot be… Read more
legally deemed habitable. An active Form 61 also remained unresolved, listing non-compliant work.
Throughout the build, communication was inconsistent and delays were frequent. Safety concerns including a visibly unstable balustrade were raised and documented but not addressed. Other issues were similarly disregarded. One example of the builder’s approach was the installation of rubber threshold ramps used in place of proper rectification. It reflected a broader pattern: opting for quick fixes over compliant, lasting solutions.
[Name Removed] also declined to honour warranty coverage for the cladding, citing non-compliant installation and deviations from their published installation guides as the cause for its failure. This was confirmed in writing after they reviewed the site and supporting documentation.
While some reviews may seem positive, they often reflect early impressions or come from clients without the technical background to detect deeper problems. In our case, serious issues only came to light through independent inspections and review.
My advice: proceed with extreme caution or better yet, avoid the hassle altogether. If you’re already committed, bring in your own independent inspector or engineer at every stage, and keep detailed records. It may be the only way to protect yourself.

This review is based on my personal experience and is shared to help other homeowners make informed decisions. I chose to terminate my contract with this builder after ongoing issues throughout the year. Communication was consistently poor, with long delays in responses. When problems arose, responsibility was often disputed and accountability was… Read more
not taken. The builder engaged an engineer from Sydney who conducted a remote inspection. I have since lodged a formal complaint about this engineer’s professional conduct with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (BPEQ). Independent experts, including QBCC Early Dispute Resolution (EDR) assessors, identified defects of a structural nature in the work.
The attached photos show examples of workmanship concerns observed on-site. My recommendation to other homeowners is to carefully review your contract, engage your own independent inspector or engineer at each stage, and keep detailed records of all communication. Taking these steps may help protect you if issues arise.
I have updated my review to show the photos of the works.

We had a fantastic experience building our first home with Leonard Homes! From start to finish, they were professional, communicative, and truly committed to quality. Being our first time building, they walked us through the whole project and had a colourist and display items in the showroom to help with selections. The project was completed on… Read more · 1
time and the team were flexible to make adjustments for our budget and change of mind - nothing was a problem. They paid great attention to detail and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. The craftsmanship exceeded our expectations - our house by far looks like the best on the street. We’re absolutely thrilled with our new home and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to build!
We built a large secondary dwelling on our acreage with Leonard Homes and had a really positive experience. They came out to our block and guided us through things we hadn’t thought about like water, power and sewer, and even suggested the best room orientation for sunlight. The design process was simple with a bit of back and forth, and they did… Read more · 1
it all for free while other builders wanted to charge thousands.
Now that we’ve moved in, we couldn’t be happier with the finish and the whole process felt smooth and stress free. Big thank you to everyone at Leonard Homes for the support from start to finish . we’ll definitely be building with them again.
We are really happy with how our build is going with Leonard Homes so far. We just had our slab poured and the frame go up. The whole process has been really smooth and quick. The team has been easy to chat with, the design stage was fun and we were able to customise a lot to suite our family, and the colour appointment made everything feel… Read more · 1
real. Communication has been clear, and we are happy with how things are progressing onsite.
We are excited to watch the rest of the build unfold and can’t wait to see our finished home!
We recently built our home with Leonard Homes and the entire process from start to finish has been such a positive experience. From the very beginning, the quoting process was clear, straightforward, and stress-free, which really set the tone for the journey ahead. The colour selection process was also made so easy and enjoyable. Steph guided us… Read more · 1
through every choice with patience and great advice, helping us create a home that feels perfectly “us.”
Once the site start date arrived, everything moved along smoothly. Tom made sure we were kept updated throughout the build, and it was reassuring to see the care and attention to detail from our site supervisor at every stage.
Handover was such an exciting milestone, and we couldn’t be happier with the quality and finish of our new home. The whole experience has been seamless, professional, and enjoyable — we truly felt supported every step of the way.
We couldn’t have done it without Peter and the Leonard Homes team! So thank you for making the process of building our dream home so easy and memorable!
We have zero regrets about our decision to build with Leonard Homes and could not be happier that we chose them to fulfill our dreams of building our own house! From the first meeting on site right after we had purchased an empty block of land, I knew working with Leonard Homes was going to be the right choice for us. The immediate difference… Read more · 1
compared to the larger home building companies was apparent in the attention to customer care and communication. Amazingly, Peter, the owner of the company was highly engaged in the design process from the start, and has continued to maintain that engagement as the house build progresses. This really gave us confidence from early on we were working with people who cared about making homes for people and not for profit!
Throughout the initial design process, the team at Leonard Homes were incredibly accommodating. They went above and beyond to help us stay within our budget by quoting potential extras that are normally decided later in the process during colour selection. This foresight and flexibility helped us to plan financially to build the house we've always wanted and make sure we've been able to include our non-negotiables and not break the bank. Stephanie, who led us through the colour selection process, has a keen eye for style and knew all the product options intimately. She really gave us a lot of excellent advice to help achieve the desired design aesthetic we were aiming for without adding unnecessary cost.
As our build has progressed, our site supervisor, Thomas, has been exceptional. His communication is clear and consistent, and his support has been invaluable in explaining what's happening. Thomas's industry knowledge is evident in how efficiently he has kept the project moving forward. The communication from Thomas has been forthright about any delays or issues, he's been flexible when we've requested reasonable alterations, and also consistently supportive in helping us achieve our vision for our home.
The standard of workmanship to date has been very high. While minor defects are an inevitable part of any construction process, Leonard Homes has been proactive in response and rectified any identified problems immediately. Furthermore, they have provided all the correct and necessary documentation as the build progresses to keep us fully informed. They even went so far as to secure a manufacturer's warranty certificate for our cladding based on their installation process, demonstrating a commitment to quality and owner satisfaction.
I'll update this review with pictures detailing the stages when the build completes as we're just about to hit the fixing stage. See the attached picture for where we are up to currently. The rapid progress the last few months has been astonishing to see an empty block transform into a home.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the team at Leonard Homes for helping make our dream come true!
Building a new home should be an exciting and rewarding experience. Unfortunately, my experience with Leonard Homes was marked by persistent quality control issues and unresolved defects throughout the build. After Practical Completion, many defects remained unaddressed despite repeated follow-ups. I eventually lodged a complaint with QBCC, which… Read more
resulted in a formal direction for Leonard Homes to rectify several outstanding issues.
In my opinion, this reflects a concerning lack of accountability and customer care. I found the process stressful and disheartening, and I would personally not recommend building with this company.
