Homes by one of their contractors, who spoke very highly of the site supervisor, Stephen Wagstaff—and he absolutely lived up to that recommendation. He is incredibly organised, detail-oriented, and always on top of everything happening on site.

As a single mum of two building for the first time on my own, I honestly expected the process to feel overwhelming. Instead, Stephen made it smooth and manageable from start to finish. His communication was outstanding—keeping me updated multiple times a week and always responding quickly to calls and messages.

He went above and beyond by coordinating access for window furnishing and fencing quotes, organising times for suppliers to meet onsite, which took a huge amount of stress off me. He also took the time to answer all my questions and explain things clearly so I could make confident, informed decisions.

What truly stood out was his dedication right at the end of the build. The day before handover, he was due to go on annual leave and leave for a holiday at 2am—but he delayed his plans to ensure my home was handed over on time, knowing I had turf, underlay, and help booked in for the Easter long weekend. incredibly quick, helpful, and accommodating when it came to design choices and inclusions. He made the early stages of the process much smoother and really helped set things up well from the beginning.

Once construction started, we were very fortunate to have Chris Bishop as our supervisor. Chris honestly took so much of the stress out of the building process. He was highly proactive with communication, always kept us informed, identified issues before we even had to raise them, and made sure fixes were implemented promptly. He was also very effective with scheduling and managing trades, which made a huge difference to how smoothly everything progressed. We also had a great experience with the Client Liaison team, especially Shanon, Lilly, and Brooke. We started the process with one of the project home designs and met with Morgan (Sales Director) who guided us through the initial steps of the knock-down rebuild process. Morgan provided us with clear, detailed and realistic information about the costs, our options to customise the design and timelines, and established the basis for a good working relationship.

Our Hall & Hart team was professional and responsive throughout. We would like to mention in particular: Marko, our in-house architect who worked closely with us and took time to understand our dream design and incorporated our many requests and changes into the customised plans, ensuring that the final plan met all our requirements. Melissa, who guided us through the pre-construction stage with wonderful support. She was very organised, knew our project features well and responded promptly to all queries and issues that came up. This stage of the process was well run with organised meetings keeping us up to date, with clear milestones to be met to keep to the timelines, and providing us with various options to consider in making our choices to finalise the FF&E schedules, making it all a seamless process. Crystal and Carly, our talented interior designers who took time to get to know our tastes and provide us with excellent choices within our budget, and great advice and tips during the FF&E stage. It is wonderful to see all this realised so beautifully in the final product. Darren McDonald, who took over as our site manager and oversaw the construction phase and has followed through with resolving post-construction items. Overall the construction phase was well managed. When any issues arose these were addressed and resolved quickly and on reasonable terms, with Darren ensuring the agreed solution was implemented. Post construction, Darren has assisted us in working through the list of outstanding items and getting all the various items addressed, and has also come to our home to check on progress. We appreciate Darren's dedication and hard work in getting the project to completion and his continued help in getting every issue resolved.

The build took a bit longer than expected but the quality of the workmanship was more important to me than the speed of completion and I have a quality home to show for it now. 2025 just before Christmas holiday but there is no sign that the house will be delivered soon. I won't blame the price because the price is fair enough. However the project management is so bad. The site is not secured at all and so much rubbish. I will be back to add comments again about the quality of the house later.

to us from our building supervisor once we got our keys in December. We did not hear back from them till January, after confirming everything, we never got another response till we threatened to go to fair trading to get it sorted. Once we threatened to fair trading, they responded with a weak response from the maintenance manager that did not answer any questions we had which was sent on Feb 6 2026. We have replied and replied for confirmation for our updated defects that we found and asked for confirmation when the defects will be rectified since you only have an 180 day period to raise defects with them.

initial meeting with James at the VISTA display homes, we knew we were in good hands. His professionalism, honesty, and genuine care for his clients gave us confidence from day one. As first home buyers, that trust meant everything — and it continued right through from signing the contract to handover. At no point did we feel like just another number or sale.

Our Site Supervisor, Randall Lindsay, has a reputation for being one of the best in the business — and our experience absolutely reflected that. Nothing was ever a problem, and his communication was always honest, clear, and friendly, which we really valued throughout the build.

Our Customer Service Representative, Rebecca, was also fantastic. She was consistently friendly, responsive, and approachable — no question ever felt like a bother, and her support made the process feel far less overwhelming.

We also want to acknowledge that the fixed price turn key package delivered on what was promised — everything was included, right down to the drippers in the garden. That level of transparency and delivery gave us real confidence in the process.

That said, we pride ourselves on honesty and authenticity, so it’s important to share that our experience with the selections process was not as positive.

There was initial miscommunication around selection options, which resulted in pressure to make decisions from pre-selected options via an emailed PDF. This didn’t work for us, and while we were ultimately able to arrange all of the in-person selection appointments with the suppliers within the tight timeframe (without delaying our build), it required us to take time away from work and some very understanding suppliers!

At our final selections appointment, we felt rushed and under pressure to finalise decisions quickly to avoid delays. Items we had previously been told would be discussed during this stage felt like an inconvenience rather than part of the process.

Later in the build, we were advised of a supplier change and again presented with alternative options via email — despite having paid for upgraded selections. We were also told this supplier change had only just occurred, which conflicted with information we had heard much earlier.

Once again, there was time pressure to make decisions. We made the effort to visit the new supplier, however after two unsuccessful visits, we were ultimately advised that our original selections with the initial supplier would be honoured.

Unfortunately, there was no apology, no accountability, and no follow-up when this was escalated to management.

Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we would highly recommend the fixed price turn key package — it truly delivered on its promise.

It’s just unfortunate that what could have been an 11/10 experience was impacted by one part of the process that left us feeling like we were the problem, rather than valued customers.

with the understanding that work would commence promptly and progress would be steady. Unfortunately, this has not been the case.

Beechwood's salesman at their Box Hill office was commendable, offering reasonable pricing and flexibility in design amendments. However, the planning and design team have proven to be extremely slow and inefficient. Over the past two and a half years, we've had to consistently push them for every minor detail, as they seem unable to handle simultaneous activities or take a proactive approach.

Responses to our questions, clarifications, or requests for small design changes can take anywhere from four to five weeks, even with our frequent follow-ups. Without our persistence, these matters would likely be ignored indefinitely. The salesperson, who initially promised control over the process, appears to have no influence. Despite their promising words, actions from their staff are lacking.

Moreover, the frequent changes in staff have required us to repeatedly explain our project from the beginning, leading to numerous errors and lost data, including colour and appliance selections. This has been a frustrating and exhausting experience, leading me to consider terminating the project multiple times over the past two and a half years. However, I've refrained from doing so after taking some time to reconsider.

The remaining journey with Beechwood seems too long, and I find myself lacking the energy and time to continue. The planning process has been delayed by over two and a half years, and the estimated costs have increased several times. It feels as though Beechwood relies more on customers' deposits than on building houses, as we rarely see reviews from customers who have received completed houses. In summary I have wasted my money and two and a half years of time with Beechwood for no outcome.
