LG 589L French Door GF-B589PLE (Stainless Finish)
VerifiedMPN: GF-B589PLE1 review
After 12 months the air filter had to be changed, did not mind that as I did find a place that sold them cheaply. Added the new one and it would not work, so went old fashioned with bi-carbonate of soda in a cup to keep the odours from taking hold, now that worked. But after about 2 -3 years of service the LG died. No amount of CPR on it would help. There was no reason it died. Had 2 lots of minor error codes which were corrected and hummed away again. When it died, I was left with no other fridge but a full Kelvinator fridge bought in 1986, tried it, and it is working and still running right now while we wait for the new fridge freezer to arrive. Not LG though, its a Hisense. Far cheaper (1/3rd cost) so if it only lasts 3 years, I lose $200 per year. Rather than $600+ per year. Not buying LG anymore. Was good for the first 12 - 14 months, but after that noises began when running, finally the last noise was an increase in decibels that had the dogs howling along with it. At 106Kg we basically threw it out the back door ready for to be pick up as useless junk.
Follow-up · How did the dogs react to the noise? Answer - they had previously sensed or heard the beginning of the noise that was not heard to human ears. What made me choose a cheaper brand? Answer - Losing almost $2,000 on a piece of rubbish that had 10 year warranty on some part, (bet it wasn't this one), I was glad to see the back of it and off the property. What noise did the fridge make? Answer - Wheel squeal, bearing so lacking oil it screams. Worse than the loud high pitched sound of my fire alarm. UPDATE - NO, I have not changed my mind, it has been relegated to the Samsung make, both are banned in this house. If I could have given it a zero, I would. As the saying goes - the people who make this should stick to what they know they can build successfully - Push bikes and red flags!
