Heat pump dryers in general are a waist of money. They take slow long to dry anything, even when they're not clogged up with muck. This LG model is supposed to be self cleansing and have all the mod cons for a cleaner environment. The fact that they have had to add a 'second' removable filter to help solve the problems, it doesn't work. There is no… Read more
removable panel to clean the condenser. the moist air circulating just makes all the lint and dog hair stick to everything. I have had to pull the whole condenser apart to clean out the muck four times now. What a job that is ! a photo of the failed filter system results attached
If I were to divorce my husband tomorrow, this dryer would be high on the list of reasons. Did he listen to me when I showed him all the terrible reviews? Of course not, but that is not the dryers fault. For some reason he thought that a matching washer and dryer set outweighed the need for functionality and spending a truckload less money on… Read more
something that reviewed better. I’ve never had a dryer that tangled sheets so completely that you need large biceps and a six pack to pull them apart. It doesn’t actually dry things either. Just removes a bit of moisture and tells you it’s done, which means put them on again for another 4 cycles, unless you want your drawers and cupboards to start smelling like an old small town op shop did in the 1980s. It also stopped working for a bit about 9 months in, the repair guy told me I use too much fabric softener, which I don’t because fabric softener is a rare luxury after paying what we did for this useless machine. And why so many options on the dial LG? These don’t actually do more than one or two things. Like the washers, they give the appearance of options. None of which do the job they are supposed to be doing which is actually dry the freaking washing. The ONLY good thing about this dryer is that it forced my arrogant, never wrong husband to finally admit he was wrong for the first time in our 30 plus years together. That miracle alone is what got it the one star.
I would stay away from purchasing this dryer. As someone who has owned this particular model for years, it is not worth it! It performs poorly - it takes a whole day to dry a load (even a smaller load) and has to be constantly checked. The sensor feature is not accurate and I often have to put the dryer cycle on 4 times during the day before they… Read more
eventually start to feel somewhat dry.
By the time the clothes are actually dry, they sometimes smell because of how long they were tumbling around in their own steam and dampness. Please avoid this dryer at ALL COSTS! It's a huge waste of money and does not deliver on the performance it promises. Do your research and find something better.
DO NOT PURCHASE. Worst Dryer we have ever owned. Two Queens sized sheet on the recommended settings and after six hours they are still wet. Several calls to LG seeking assistance to remedy the problem but no outcome. We purchased as a package for our new laundry. Washing Machine works fine but this dryer is just a waste of space. expensive non operational dryer. Shuldnt call it a dryer but rater a electrical waste of money. 10 Year inverter motor warrantee sounds good but is useless with a dryer THAT DOES NOT DRY ANYTHING.
Worst dryer we have ever had. Claims it takes a little longer, well that's an under statement. I put a normal load in at 7.30 am its still going at 5.30pm and is still very damp. I cleaned the filter twice as fluff is all over the door glass and surround of the filter, however the filter itself is clear. We have had the technician out twice and he said it's quite normal. Ridiculous drying time, will definitely not buy again or recommend. Show details
This is an extremely terrible dryer. I NEVER usually write reviews, although this dryer was not cheap and it’s the biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent. I absolutely hate this dryer. Does not dry my clothes, I can dry the same load of washing 3 times and they will still not dry. As you can see in the photos when I put towels in there by the end… Read more
of the cycle all the lint comes off and makes a massive mess in the dryer and on all my towels sometimes I have to rewash. Do yourself a favour and DO NOT purchase this dryer.
LG 9 kg Tumble Dryer – Waste of money. Dryer runs whole day and clothes still not dry...
Ugh heat pump drier knots – Anything like sheets especially fitted sheets or Dina covers etc end up in a big ball sometimes that tightly knotted it takes me a few min to undo . I don’t think it reverses very much ( if at all ) so things get bound up . Like the principle of it , also I have never managed to get it to connect to our home network . Love the washing machine absolutely great big family and it gets used hard . Never let us down , drier ugh not so much Show details
Bad experience, doesn't work – This would easily be the worst white goods purchase ever. It doesn't dry the clothes, sheets, towels. It is pathetic. I thought surely we are doing something wrong. A load can be in there for 7 hours and still not be dry, then it smells and has to be re washed. Hardly energy or resource efficient. The problem is now what to do with it. It is such… Read more
a waste to dump it but that is all it is good for, I wouldn't give it to anyone. Most disappointing. It was an expensive step up from our previous dryer of 9 years, a simple drum dryer. People can't afford such duds, it's wrong.
Takes too long to dry – It’s an ok dryer. But don’t purchase if you’ll need it to dry a load quickly.
It's okay, but when they say SENSOR, this seems to be just marketing – It's okay, but not great. My main problem with this dryer is that it claims to have some kind of sensor functionality. Not sure what it's sensing, but it doesn't seem to be moisture. I could put 1 towel or 5 towels in and select the towel cycle, it will run for the same amount of time. Surely it should sense that the towels are dry and end the… Read more
cycle, but no. Why can't someone just build a dryer that stops when the clothes are dry? Am I expecting too much?
Does not dry clothes – Don't buy. I'm sure they just get better star rating by turning the heat down so low that what did take 20mins to dry with our old scrappy dryer, now takes all day. Useless no matter what setting we try and we've tried all. Our worst white good purchase so far and possibly our most expensive also. Show details
The most expensive dryer I have ever purchased – Failed at 3 1/2 years of VERY light usage! The drum has a massive clunk a few times per rotation which if I manually turn the drum feels like the bearings or whatever the drum rotates on has failed as it clunks and wobbles along. UPDATE! LG sorted it for us! There was a faulty roller wheel/bearing assembly which has been replaced now. The only… Read more
frustrating sticking point now is. For the life of this dryer, drying sheets and doona covets has been the absolute worst too, I have never in my life had any dryer turn a few sheets into massive balls which DO NOT DRY properly. I have to remove and place them back in many times for them to dry, well almost dry fully.
There appears to be a suggestion on some sites that the dryer has a reverse spin feature which I have not found on ours. It spins the same direction for the whole drying cycle which is where the balls of sheets or doona come from.

Great machine couldn’t live without it – A great machine. I dry everything in it. Very economical Show details
Does not dry – So disappointed in this dryer - takes hours to dry a small load. Clothes still feel wet after 3 hours, they are hot but not dry. Was on the high price of all the dryers I looked at, definitely a waste of money. Would never buy or recommend another LG heat pump dryer. Show details
It’s a dryer that has a huge capacity and no WET WATER running down walls YIPPEE – When buying. I wanted: High energy rating, can dry any clothes silk to heavy blankets, gentle on my clothes, and a German brand. I got 2/3 ain’t bad! Oops 3/4! Thx THE GOOD GUYS. Took old things away and had it all installed too. This LG dryer. I cannot fault it. It even has my teenager using the stacked washer / dryer because her clothing comes… Read more
out ironed. It may take more time but I honestly haven’t really noticed it. The solar panels help but it’s got 7/8⭐️ energy rating. I don’t care. It’s really cheap to run & now that it’s stopped me yelling at said “teen” - “is the fan on?” Life is silence. And going into the laundry and it used to smell like off water. So now my life is so much better. I bought some dryer balls for $15 from Amazon for sheets but I give them a bit of a flutter beforehand- only because ppl said so. They come out dry, ironed and ready to be folded. If you can fold a bottom sheet - idk how? Fits king sized blankets-doonas. It’s perfect. Was going to get it plumbed but what’s the need- you only empty it when you think it’s needed. Empty the great double sided lint filter also as needed. A buzzer will remind you. So from my delicates to jeans; I am very happy I bought this dryer. I’ll never ever have a vented dryer ever again. I wanted a Bosch or Asko etc but the reviews were bad under $2k. So this cost about the same, $1400 (negotiate eg upgrade from white to this colour), the specs are just perfect, and it LOOKS SO GOOD. This dark stainless steel is appaz so in! Highly recommend- it has every option possible - but the round knob is what I love. Turn it & walk away. No ironing. Looking good for any family. Gentle as a feather. It is heavy so buy the stacking plate for $60. Never thought I would buy LG but they must be doing something right. PS I have had it now for 3 months. So this way review is from ‘used’ perspective.
Prepare to wait – I originally bought this drier for its big 9kg capacity, which I needed for my family of 6. Thank goodness I never got rid of my old 6kg electrolux drier is all I can say. While my new energy saving 9 kg LG was taking more than double the amount of time, this was frustrating me, as I don’t have over 2hrs at a time to dry each load. In… Read more
concussion… I would not recommend this dryer for a big family who doesn’t have the time to wait over 2hrs in between loads.
Amazing! Quality sexy – Bought the qual washer and dryer. They are amazing products. Love the auto dosage
Worst purchase in our life – Purchasing this expensive dryer has gone down as the worst white goods purchase we have ever made. The only thing that will make us feel slightly better is stopping others making the same mistake as us. -it now takes us twice as long to dry things from our previous dryer. Some loads with sheets towels often are still drying after 6-7 hours. We… Read more
simply can’t dry everything we need to in a day like we used to. And it cost us 4 times out last dryer. -it wraps everything into a ball. Every 30 mins. -we have already had the motherboard interface fully replaced less than 1 year in because it started going crazy with sounds and lights without us touching.
This is not a dryer. It’s a ball-bundler that keeps everything still wet after hours and hours. Drying everything with a hairdryer would be quicker. Don’t do it!!! Read the other reviews, they don’t lie.
Endless drying! – At first this dryer was good and a load would be completed in around 2-3 hours. 2 years later it will dry one load for hours on end. It literally takes 7+ hours to complete a cycle and the clothes come out smelling as they’ve been damp and through the cycle for so long. This is for towels or clothes which by the way it’ll shrink everything too!… Read more
Then when you do sheets they get so tangled and wrapped up you have to check every hour or less and if the sheets are tangled, you then need to pause the cycle, pull out all the sheets and untangle them which are sometimes in a huge knot taking up to 10 minutes loosing, then throw them back into the machine to keep going. For a machine that costs so much money don’t waste your time or add to your electricity bill.
Do Not Purchase This Dryer – Purchased this roughly 18 months ago Was running fine then all of a sudden starts making a grinding/skipping noise when in operation Much louder that when I first purchased it and definitely out of the ordinary Called the company- Got an offshore customer service center, they ended up hanging up on me and not logging the issue Finally got… Read more
hold of someone in Australia after a week, who sent someone out to check the machine
They opened it up and determined there was nothing mechanically wrong with it …
Even though it’s operating loudly (especially when there is a load in it) to the point that is causing a disturbance to my downstairs neighbors- which has not happened in the past
So I chased them again and sent a video of the machine with a load, where you can kind of hear the noise..
Based on the noise cancelling tech in most phones it’s very difficult to get a video that captures the noise accurately
I was then told to take a video with the machine empty - which still makes extra noise but the main issue is when there is load in the machine.
I was then told to take the video from further away?? It seems to me each time they were looking for audio to minimize the actual noise that I was experiencing
After roughly 2 weeks in the making the ‘engineers’ determined the noise is within the standard operating range
Not sure how they determined this from video with poor audio taken from a distance where you don’t hear much more than white noise (I’m an audio engineer so this point is of significant interest to me); when clearly the noise that the machine is making is not normal… if it were it would have made the noise when I first purchased it
I don’t expect to pay this amount for a machine that runs one way when purchased then after a period of time begins to behave in a different way entirely
I am very angry and disappointed given the high price point- the tech they sent out did not listen to the machine and test it - just opened it up to check the internals
I have looked at other reviews online and this is not an isolated case - there are many who complain about similar noises and who have had techs come out to ‘fix’ the machine with no impact.
Apparently this is a design flaw…
Given my machine was under warranty the company should have done a more thorough check of the issue and replaced the machine- or at least worked to find a solution rather than just telling me I’ll have to live with this lemon
LG customer service is horrible- if you are wanting to spend this much better to go with Miele or the like - who offer a much better level of service and quality of their products which are more robust (I’ve not had any issues with the Miele appliances I’ve had in my home for the last 6 years)
I am now left with a product that I can not really use and will have to replace given that I live in an apartment and can not run a noisy machine
Do not waste your time with LG…

Does everything we need it to do – Purchased this as a replacement for an LG Dryer which had served my wife and I faithfully for around nine years. No particular complaints with the functionality of the previous machine and it had been 100% reliable, however, decided to update to the newer machine due to an LG promotion supplying it delivered at an exceptionally good price. purchased the 9kg model as the 10kg was sold out during the promotion period.
Description Machine is white (you can get black) with black and chrome accents and with standard dimensions of H850mm x W600mm x D690mm (door closed). It may require two to get it into position as it weighs around 56Kg. If you mate it with an LG Washer there is a “stacking” kit to allow you to mount the dryer on top of the washer. You can plumb the water drainage into your laundry drain or allow it to collect in an internal storage tray. We chose the latter method (at least for the moment) as we are unable to source a connection currently into our laundry system drain. In any case, the internal storage is sufficiently large enough to store water from a number of cycles and will alert you (audibly and visually) that it is full and needs emptying. As this is such an easy and quick operation, there is little incentive for us to source a fixed drainage solution. Being a heat pump model, it is relatively energy efficient and boasts a 9 star energy rating,
Features This machine features 10 preset programs (see photo below) along with a cycle for rack dry (rack included for items that shouldn’t be tumbled), cool air only and warm air only. These are selected by a rotary dial on the front. Of particular note is an Allergy Care cycle if that is the sort of thing that is important to you. Additionally there is a Download Cycle which allows you to select from a range of 16 specialty cycles (see sample of range in the photo below). These include such things as blanket, gym clothes baby wear, easy iron etc but in order to do this, you will need to connect the machine to your home WiFi and install the LG app on your smart phone. Only one cycle can be downloaded at a time. It should be noted that while the dryer is marked as a 9kg dryer this is a little misleading as it only applies to the Cotton cycle (which will take over two and a half hours to run depending on load). All other cycles are around 4.5Kg capacity or less with shorter dry times. Having said that, we haven’t experienced any problems loading beyond those amounts and the clothes (appear to) come out equally dry (just longer drying times). While the cycles show a set time initially, the actual time could be longer or shorter depending on the type of clothes. There is an inbuilt sensor that measures this and seems to be fairly effective at getting different combinations of clothes dry. Additional features include a bright LED light (works even if machine is tumbling but turns off automatically after 4 minutes), child lock and remote start (using the LG app on your phone). On the right of the dial is a control panel allowing you to override presets for drying time, drying mode (Normal or Turbo), dry level (Iron, Cupboard or Extra), anti-crease and Drum Clean (washes the inbuilt condensor). Regarding the Drum Clean, you would only need to use this in special circumstances as we have found the machine does this operation itself during drying cycles. Additionally there is a digital readout showing what stage of the drying cycle is currently being undertaken along with number of (estimated) minutes to completion along with lit symbols to indicate the current stage of the drying process. There is also a Delayed End function (essentially a delayed start feature) to allow you to extend the finish time between 3 and 19 hours. The door comes right hinged but can be reversed. The filter has two stages and is easily removed to clean out the lint. LG claims inbuilt sensors work to prevent overdrying of clothes and (apart from some clearance around the dryer), no extra venting is needed. Functionality The dryer has accompanying electronic chimes (which can be turned off) to indicate starting and completing cycles. We have found it to be relatively quiet in operation. All drying cycles we have used have dried our clothes to the standard we expect and nothing we have dried has (thus far) come out damaged in any way. We usually use the “Mixed Fabric” cycle which always works well for us and takes around (depending on load) 70 minutes. If you decide to hook this dryer into WiFi, the LG phone app gives extra functionality (see photos below). You can use the app to remotely start and pause the machine, download additional cycles, view current cycle details including time to run, where in the drying cycle it is etc. The app will also alert you both audibly and with a visual notification when the cycle has been completed. This is all available when away from home too. In use, we have found the app a little buggy and it sometimes froze the time remaining requiring the app to be force closed and re-opened to get an accurate estimation of time to run. This did, however, markedly improve after a recent update so hopefully LG will come up with a fix to completely solve this in the future. Also, if you have an LG Washer tied into the app, the Dryer will indicate what it thinks will be the best drying cycle based on what washing cycle has just completed. However, one thing we did not like with the app is LG using it to advertise products and other promotions without having any means to turn this off. One thing that surprised us particularly was how little heat came off the machine while in operation. This allowed us to have the external door closed into the laundry and not feel like we were walking into a sauna. Indeed, there was little or no extra heat being felt in the laundry as it was in use. Amazing.
Overall, we have been very pleased with this purchase. The supplied instruction manual is clearly set out and easy to follow. The machine itself has a 2 year warranty (parts and labour) along with a 10 year warranty on the motor and compressor (not labour). The dryer meets all our requirements and hopefully it will prove just as reliable as our previous dryer.
What we liked… * Solid and quality feel * Meets all requirements for our purpose * 2 year full warranty (parts and labour) * Range of settings available * Able to monitor progress of machine from app ...even when away from home * Internal water storage (or drain if you prefer)
What we didn’t like so much… * Advertising in app and it’s occasional buggy operation * Somewhat pricey

I’m so happy we went with our gut and chose this! – We were in the market for a while but in the end we decided that we should get the matching washer and dryer. I’m really happy with the design, size and over all look but it doesn’t dry bigger loads clothes well and it doesn’t dry well if you do multiple loads a day. Once I learnt how that worked I now do bigger loads on weekends when I have extra time to check if it needs extra drying time when the sender isn’t quite sure, Show details
over-engineered with a billion settings and buttons, but it does the job – This was a replacement to my old LG dryer (which lasted about 7 to 8 yrs). The old machine, I'd throw in the washing, press a button, and it would come out dry. This dryer isn't intuitive to use and you have to read the manual in detail (and perhaps a Google search or two). At first, all my washing came out damp, no matter what setting I used. I… Read more
thought it was faulty (and maybe it is). I ended up connecting it to my wifi and downloaded a "Full-Size Load" cycle to the machine. The dryer is working fine now. I wouldn't recommend this machine to someone not tech-savvy or anyone who just wants something simple to use. I'm quite surprised at how poor the user experience is. I do like LG, but I'll be a bit more discerning when I get my next appliance.
LG Dryer – I'm satisfied with the LG,I find it to be a quiet machine. I think the only fault is the cycles are quite long. I do find that my towels come out super soft though :) I have put baby clothes in and they came out fine no shrinkage. Show details

Great clothes dryer to have! – My dryer has saved me many times. Even though its is regarded a luxury, I'm glad we bought our LG washing machine AND dryer. In winter time and on rainy days when you are forced to do washing for the next day (e.g school clothes, socks, sportswear) the dryer is a lifesaver. Although I try my best to hang them out in summer to save on electricity. The great addition that this model has, is a drying rack that you can install whenever you need to dry trainers or a knitted jersey that you want to expose to heat, but without the tumble. I didn't even know about this feature when I bought it, yet it's something that I use regularly, especially when washing trainers that take forever to dry without sunshine.
With our model, you have the option of using the water tank at the top, or you can install the existing pipe to dispose of water automatically in the drain. We use the water tank at the top that we drain now and then. When drying towels, this tank fills up quicker than other times, but normally it's every few days or so.
With a family of 4, I also love the fact that we have a separate washer and dryer (I've seen the combo washer and dryer) and this enables me to dry a bundle while I put in another to start washing.
I would buy this again if I had to choose.
Changed my washing habits for the better – I purchased both the washer and dryer combo and I am blown away with quality for price! I was hesitant too switch from our top loader to front loader, but am ever so glad I did! The dryer connects to my phone and reminds me that the load is done and to put it away. I enjoy listening to the musical jingle as well. The condenser is awesome! No more… Read more · 1
allergies or damp musty smelling garage. I did not expect as many features and expected some sort of downfall being on sale. I was wrong, this dryer has been nothing short of great.
Solar friendly and for no ventilated rooms. Other than that it's a waste of money – It's solar friendly as it uses an average of 400W of power. If you have ventilation in the room and no solar power, this dryer is a waste of money. I used to have a $400 Simpson dryer and I regret that I gave it away. This dryer uses around 400W of power and a program runs for 2.5 hours. For one program it uses 400 x 2.5= 1KW. This is real. The… Read more
Simpson has 2100W heating element and I can dry the same amount of clothes in 20min or 0.33hours 2100 x 0.33 = 0.693KW. The Simpson uses less power and with the difference in price you spend to buy the LG dryer you could pay electricity for $1400 / $0.4KW/h / 2100W = 1660 hours of drying on a Simpson. You can also have 20min noise with the Simpson instead of 2.5hour noise of the LG dryer which is annoying. The LG is not quiet at all. The spinning drum started making noise after 8 months of operation. Do your math. It's not an opinion or marketing.... It's also a more complex machine and more things can go wrong. It spins your clothes for 2.5 hours continuously without reversing. More clothes wearing than Simpson "like" dryer.
