Great fridge – I've had this fridge since 2011. Still runs very well. It maintains a good temperature throughout, though you may want to set it to it's nearest cooling setting otherise it won't be cold enough. It's relatively quiet. Just buzzes really. Nothing over the top. The clear glass and plastic makes it very easy to clean.  Show details

meets my needs going on 7 years now – I bought this fridge brand new 2010 and it still works till this day haven't had any problems except i only need a new handle as the kids hung on the door and caused a crack in it but otherwise I think the fridge has worked good my food has always stayed cold and frozen.  Show details

This fridge is junk – This fridge is less than 3 years old and has gradually stopped freezing food properly. Called LG they were less than useless and offered no help at all. Called a serviceman and he said it needed re-gassing as there is an internal gas leak. We have paid to have if re-gassed but don't know if it will work, if not we will have to buy a new fridge. LG was definitely a bad buy and we would never buy any of their products ever again.

Same problem as everyone else – Brought this fridge / freezer in December 2011. Now I am having the same problem as everyone else. Freezer won't work and fridge is cold but not cold enough. Milk goes off after a day. I also have the extended 3 year warranty on the compressor but have no idea if it is the compressor that is faulty. My guess would be the thermostat. I am currently… Read more

renovating a house and purchased exclusively LG products for every room, including fridges, TV's, dishwasher, air conditioners and washing machine as I thought they were a good reliable brand. I have since cancelled my order, my $10,000+ can go to another more reliable brand. I don't want to replace all my appliances after 3 years which it seems is the life expectancy of LG products. Very disappointed but glad I learnt this before buying more LG products.

Does not last very long – Bought my fridge in late 2010, once had to have the freezer door seals replaced. Now it's stopped cooling. The fridge is warm and the freezer is cold but not freezing anything. Have called LG who were no help, only told me to contact my city's service store and it would cost me money. The fridge came with a 2yr warranty + 3yrs on compressor. How… Read more

am I supposed to know if this is a compressor issue or something else that is going to cost me money? Of course the service store is closed over the weekend so i am stuck using an esky until monday. Not impressed at all.

So i am trying to find an answer online, all i can see so far is many more people with the exact same problem.

I have tried defrosting for 24hrs, didn't help. Yet to look for something called Coils and Fans? It does seem to be quieter than usual.

This is my first fridge so i am very new to any of this.

See arr eh pee – 3 months out of warranty and, like most reviews here, fridge won't cool. Now have to deal with LG's "service". Wish me luck. I can see this is rhe last LG we ever buy.

Defrost issue - error code – I have an 3 year old LG-GN422FW with defrost error lights all 4 from right lit up. Had the defrost controller thermostat and main board replaced by fridge tech, continuity checks out on defrost heater element and new thermostat. Defrosting it with hairdryer every 7-10 days due to defrost not working. Is it possible a wire is broken between… Read more

freezer connections and main board as the error code indicates either defrost or broken wire?? In to it by around $300 so it may be just worth binning and buying something other than LG. First and last time i'd buy LG brand.

Disappointed - Poor design and flimsy construction, particularly ice maker and crisper – Was looking for a largish frost free fridge with sturdy construction. This fridge appeared to fit the bill as it is spacious. But in practical use it didn't turn out that way. I was also particularly looking for something with a good manual ice making tray. I was initially against plastic parts because of previous experiences. The salesperson… Read more

seemed to be good at turning all my hesitations into features, assuring me that unlike other models the plastic used in this model was high density that should "never" break and that the shelves were "unbreakable" glass. The problem is that they did, predictably crack and even break after just a few months even with extreme care. The vegetable crisper simply snapped off its rollers, not even under load. Its bad enough that you can't even fit a lettuce into it due to the poorly designed small opening. But my single biggest gripe is that the ice maker. The design is terrible and compared to my previous fridge, is practically useless and drives us crazy. It is made of flimsy white plastic. It ices up its rails, locking it in place and making it impossible to put in and out without straining. It leaks down the sides and makes the handle is so hard to turn you feel like you'll break it. Makes you feel like giving up and just buying a good old ice tray from a $2 shop. Just not good enough when its one of the key features. Also the shelves build up gunk in their frames which is difficult to clean and the temperature controls are temperamental. I also don't really like the bulky look of this fridge with its large handle, but price and the salesperson got in the way of that in practice the handles are way too large, expect kids to get thumped in the head by it at least once. For the money I paid, I really wish I had gotten something a little better designed, more robust and reliable. Big, Frost Free, Quiet, Good Price Poorly designed, Flimsy construction, Unusable ice maker

Good Fridge for small family – Have GN-422FW, bought in 2010. i find it really good. good quality fridge, no noticeable noise at all, very quiet. no icing problem in the freezer. fridge is good. only issue i have is that the top Vege/fruit tray tend to freeze anything placed in that top tray (if you turn the temperature to high). but overall no issue with this fridge,… Read more

Terrible – Having the brand new fridge GN-422FW for 10 days, not happy about it apart it's quietness. No confidence in using it as it is not cold compared with my other fridge Westinghouse in the house. Have no confidence in using it especially storing diary or fresh products in case the food would get ruinned. Rang up LG today if they would send someone to… Read more

check the fridge, but the LG customer care is horrible, stressing that we need to pay for the service call if they could not find anything wrong with fridge. Advice was given to turn down the fridge temperature to make the fridge colder. That's absolutely absurd! We have the other Westinghouse fridge set at the same Temp 3 C , but definitely the Westinghouse is a lot colder. Don't buy LG fridge as it is not cold and the post customer care is horrible. We would not have purchased LG product if we've known their post customer care is so bad. Quiet The fridge is not cold. The freezer has to be turned down to temperature lowered than recommended by the LG manual book. Poor LG post customer care!
