Our first NEW Appliances, Worst Appliances We've Ever Owned – We've lived in 6 other domiciles in the past 22 years. All came with appliances, and we had no real trouble with them, aside from replacing a stove or oven element, or oven control unit. Then we bought a new house and bought new appliances. That's when our troubles began. We're VERY disappointed with LG products and service - so much so, that I won't buy a phone or TV with the LG name on it. Lesson learned.

The fridge has been warm for 2 weeks now. The freezer still works. We had a repairman diagnose the problem almost 2 weeks ago $171. A heater is broken. They said they'd be back with parts 3 days ago. Instead, the local LG repair place sent another repairman to diagnose the problem - which had already been done. My wife took time off work for nothing. And we get to pay $375 more when the parts come in. Still waiting...

So now we've had the basement bar fridge in our kitchen for a week and half, we're freezing condiments and larger items on the back deck in a laundry basket, and the repair centre can't tell us anymore than that we have to wait. Now the oven has died - again.

In the course of 6 years, the fridge has had 3 defrost fans, 2 heaters, and now some sensors - oh, and maybe a motherboard now as well. Guess we'll find that out when service comes back.

The stove: 2 oven elements, a control panel, and 2 motherboards. We paid to repair the first motherboard, but the second was replaced on recall - and I think we paid $100 labour. So why did we pay for the first motherboard replacement if they were defective? The dishwasher has had a pump replaced. The way things are going, it's probably coming due. There are little plastic parts that have broken that we ignore as well.

AND you're stuck with LG's service people. I just got off a long chat with an LG rep. He was great, but LG won't provide a parts list or diagram so I can research a fix myself. In the past, I've driven to town and bought the parts I need from a local shop. I can't get LG parts at my local store.

I'm shocked to see in Consumer Reports, that the Kenmore and LG bottom freezer style refrigerators, are top rated. Interesting that they're identical, made in Mexico, and that the LG is $600 more. Some of the reviews on that site have a familiar ring to them. People are having some of the same experiences early on.

The friends who encouraged us to buy LG - their appliances have been in the landfill for a couple of years now. They replaced all their LG's at about the 7 year mark. And that's what bothers me - that at 6 years, in order to stop the bleeding on repair bills, that we would be weighing the option of buying a used fridge tomorrow, and taking this high-end LG - and maybe the range - to the landfill. Our local landfill is taking measures to conserve space, and people are tossing their appliances because they've hit their life-span at 6-7 years. How is this energy efficient or environmentally responsible?

The whole LG experience is just wrong on so many levels. On every level, our LG appliances have been a rip-off.
