as I enter the kitchen. To be clear, I did not set the microwave to do this. The display of the microwave showed some "marks on the display which looked weird but the most concerning observation was that the microwave had been on and cooking with nothing inside for so long that the glass platter had burned, then exploded as well as the creme plastic cover melted. I wish I could post photos of the damage here. I'm pretty sure this 1100w microwave was continuously cooking with nothing in it for a really long time in my absence. Aside from the obvious power usage costs to me of this event, the more concerning aspect is that I feel this device could have potentially caused a fire if I didn't arrive home when I did. I am very disappointed with LG and I will be choosing a different brand to replace this with.

Surprised to see the low rating! – Bought the unit in '09 for roughly $600 if memory serves me correct. Far more than a single guy probably should spend or need but I'm a believer in you get what you pay for. The unit has a massive capacity with the rounded back. kids you put it under but in my case I can report a fault with the machine. Has worked first time every time and hasn't missed a beat. Genuinely surprised to see such low scores but maybe I've just lucked out or it's casual use has benefited it's longevity. Now I've written this I fully expect to be microwave shopping in a week ;p

Great – I've had my microwave for a couple of years now and I think its doing ok so far. No complaints. Cleans easily. Has rounded back which allows for maximum capacity, is easy to clean. I like it. Capacity  Show reply

No heat – Must be poor quality if the unit has had little use then dies without be able to heat/cook things. Seems a common problem with other users reporting a similar problem. Could it be a faulty batch of transformers or some other component that is incorporated in this unit which up until now has worked perfectly.  Show details

was nearby, and had it repaired .. after the repair it worked but had an extremely loud vibration. Took it back to get that fixed. Now 3 years down the track the magnetron has gone again. Now it's being replaced under extended warranty. I'm assuming (and hoping) they don't make this model anymore, so hopefully the 'equivalent' model is more reliable!

To leave out the coarse language only leaves the word "rubbish" – Like most of LG products the MS3446VRW lasts for a couple of years and kaput. [My LG tv smart remote controls did the same - both the original and the replacement!]. LG "Customer Care", what a misnomer they could care less, resulted in a lecture about unqualified persons [in spite of me telling him of my qualifications and how many years of working on radar et al] opening the microwave, may cause damage [my machine my problem?] and a refusal to sell a spare part. I was given the name of their "local" service centre - some 55km away. That turned out to be a one-man band operating from a shed who did not repair microwaves anyway. I finally ordered a spare from a supplier in the city who charged me $8.50 for the fuse and $10 postage. I could not call in person since I live in a country area. Subsequently I found fuses on eBay for less than $5 with no postage charge. Figures. Since there was a delay of between 5 and 18 days for delivery of the fuse it was easier for me to buy another microwave. I got a Panasonic inverter for less than $200. Will still repair the LG though. I can probably make it last longer than the manufacturers inbuilt obsolescence.

Loved it until it blew up – Purchased it in 2009. Broke down within the first two years and still under warranty. Luckily took out an extended warranty because it blew up two weeks ago and inhaled toxic chemicals from Microwave that made me feel sick and whole house had a very toxic smell for hours. Scary thought LG products were better then this experience.

Not Happy! – Purchased an LG MS3448GRK 2011. Microwave working but has stopped heating after 3 years.Not heating at all. Products just dies just end of warranty period. Less than three years is a very poor lifespan for a microwave as previous microwaves I had lasted 6-10 years.I bought this product for the round cavity for easy cleaning and more cooking space. LG Microwave – Have loved this, easy to clean, love the round interior. BUT stopped working just after 2 years! For some reason I took out extra warranty on a $170 microwave. Looks like it will be fixed or replaced. Am done with LG tho, after 3 hard drive recorders dying and now this!! Great working, easy to clean, never missed a beat. Just made a pop sound and no longer works, after just 2 years. Not at all satisfactory!!

Didn't last 2 years – Worked well for approximately two years then stopped working. We cooked one lot of pasta, then tried to cook another lot approx 15 mins later and it no longer worked, it wouldn't cook/heat up, not to mention the bad smell coming from it...clearly had an issue - not good enough seeings as I had another microwave for 14 years! the microwave is not workinga t all, and other occasions where it superheats the food and crockery in a very short time. The the turntable stopped working, which made the problem with the uneven heating extreme, and the microwave pretty much unusable. Less than three years is a very poor lifespan for a microwave. Unfortunately we threw out a 17 year old Sharp microwave that was still going strong because the LG matched the decor! Would not buy an LG microwave again. Worked well when it was working, looked nice, rounded cavity made it easier to clean. Unusable in less than three years.

Arrgggg, with a silver lining – Model MS3446VRW purchased 27/05/11 just passed away...only 4 days out of warranty!! Everything working except it won't heat anything. Was informed the "magnatron" probably defective. But, good news. Called LG and they honoured the warranty. Just had to drive 20minutes to the nearest service centre, but not LG's problem. microwaves have a guarantee of failure at the 2 to 3 year mark. Very disappointed. Large interior with rounded cavity to fit larger items. Short life span - apparently a 'given' for this model

Do not really want to contact the service center as the last experience left a bad taste in my mouth. get follow up calls from service centre or LG's selected repairer. Service centre was over 200 km from my home and all transport costs would have been my responsibility. (When I purchased the machine there was a service provider 75km away). I continued to use machine for further 12 months with out any problems and luckily no fire. The machine has now reverted to the original problem of not heating the food at all. Very disappointed and will not buy or recommend LG again. Same problem - died after 3 plus year – I've got the same problem described by other reviewers - everything seems work , light and turn table work but no heating. Buy from the good guys. Hope this gives the public another data point on this model. My oven works for about 3.5 years, just one and a half year off the factory warranty.

stopped heating completely. The lights come on, the turn table works, it makes all the right sounds, but just no heat! Reading the other reviews it looks like a common problem! I am really disappointed, this was not a cheap unit. Purchased at The Good Guys. My last microwave was still going strong after 10 years and we only upgraded when we remodelled our kitchen. The "Programmed" functions mean you need the user manual handy any time you want to use them - in 3 years I think I used the "programmed" functions maybe half a dozen times, as I could never remember what number meant which type of food!

Ridiculous feature, really. Good capacity, easy to clean Stopped heating at only 3 years old; heap of pre-programmed functions that you either need a great memory or the manual to remember how to use

Up until last week I was happy with the microwave for the price. I have had it for 2 years and one month and it has given up. One month outside of the manufacturers warranty. Started to hum really loudly and then within a day we said goodbye. Fortunately I took out an extended warranty of 4 years because I just don't trust appliances these days. They are replacing it with their latest equivelent model. We'll see how we go and hopefully I won't be back here again in another 2 years and one month with the same sad review. I like the 'add a minute' button, and use it often when heating food, would love it better if it was an 'add 30 seconds' button, as this microwave is powerful, and I always end up making my food too hot! Product description above says this range are stainless steel ovens, but my model is white (but perhaps also comes in stainless?)
