To whom it may concern. LG model microwave purchased from Good Guys Maroochydore (Sunshine Coast) on August 21, 2021, with an extended 3-year VIP Gold warranty. Generally this is very good model, build from quality materials. A year after the 3 years warranty expired, the microwave looks brand new, clean, well-cared for, and works, but it no… Read more
longer heats. The magnetron is broken. LG uses a trick by stating "10 years" on the door under warranty , but this is a marketing scam. The heating warranty is only valid for 8 years, as stated on the warranty card. And yes, they can repair the part under warranty, but you have to pay for shipping and labour costs. I feel disappointed with such tactics. Today I bought a new microwave we'll see. Judge for yourself if it's worth trusting LG warranty ?
Waste of good money! – Last year on THE recommendation of CHOICE I purchased a LG MS42660BS Microwave, which they gave a rating of 89%. They claimed that the cooking performance was a “whopping” 96%! Well I beg to differ. As my comparison is a Panasonic Inverter microwave, which I purchased in 2012 and would have still had, if it were not for the push open plastic… Read more
apparatus malfunctioning. All the information was on the outside, not in the inconvenient smallest printing (for which I need to put my glasses on every time) on the inside of the door of the unit. Panasonic was an inverter. For the LG, I need to choose this function which I found in comparison totally useless. I also had a choice of cooking 1. Vegetable, 2. frozen veg, 3 potato, 4. Pasta, 5 rice etc. These worked 100% and I used them constantly. The Panasonic even sounded an alarm to stir midway through the cooking process. The LG is hopeless. Seriously, baked potato is a good example. How can you go wrong following the recommendation on the unit? Well the LG is appalling for baked potato, always overcooked if I follow their instructions. Additionally, when I wipe the outside door near the start and stop function, it is too easy to start the unit without any food inside.
Interior rusted after a couple years – Good microwave, but after a couple of years of normal use with correct regular cleaning, in a dry environment, the interior rusted considerably, to the point where it went all the way through. Paint was bubling on the top and back. Replaced it due to safety concerns.

Everything excellent except. Such a shame – My wife and I settled on this stainless steel microwave with the hopes it would last more or less the 10 years most appliances last. The functions were easy to learn and excellent in working. Our first inverter experience and it couldn't be better. Then one day: looked like a very tiny spillage on both sides, but it seemed very difficult to clean.… Read more
The dreaded 'rust never sleeps' had struck and on the r/h edge of where the wall meets the base, it expanded to 6cm long. We had hoped the machine would last 10 years; well to tell the truth we're old and hoped we would last 10 years, but there it is. A great Mwave but with a spoiler after 4 years use. Sad face :-(
It’s worth the extra money for the knob! – I purchased this LG Microwave in early 2022 from the Good Guys. It was on sale for $330. I picked this model over the MS4296OSS because it had a physical knob for setting the time rather then just touch. However, it is still limiting in that you can only set the time in 10 second increments up to 3 minutes. After that it’s 30 second intervals.… Read more · 1
That means you couldn’t set 4:20 as the time, only 4:00, 4:30 or 5:00 and nothing in between.
Aside from that quirk, I’m very happy with the microwave. It’s probably one of the nicest looking microwaves on the market. I really like the led lighting inside, the hexagonal turntable that keeps it very table. It also makes it easy to reinstall the turntable after cleaning the inside.
In terms of its microwaving ability. It seems to do a much better job at evenly heating food. With the sensor cook mode, it’s seems to be able to heat the food but leave the bowl cool to the touch - very handy.
I also like the melt and soften functions. Great when you need butter soften for baking.
Overall I can recommend.
Was great until it rusted under the turntable after 2 years... 10 year warranty plastered on the front does not stand – Microwave worked acceptably. Looked nice. Was inexpensive. I contacted LG as soon as I noticed the rust this week, the paint all wiped off and this is what I was left with. There was no sign of anything wrong prior to this weeks' cleaning. LG even have stated it is not safe to use, and to unplug it. Whilst saying it isn't a product fault, they now… Read more
also say I have misused their product. I want to know how one misuses a microwave by defrosting food in it, is that not what it is for?? I am appalled at all the hoops I have had to jump through, all the personal information LG have requested, and the tone they take where they are not responsible, and you the customer most certainly are. The amount of time of mine they have wasted is really galling. Their abdication of responsibility just appalling. This is a major product failure. There is no rust anywhere other than where the wheels run in a circle. Clearly the wheels have perforated the surface and the rust has developed over the couple of years' use. I will be purchasing a different brand to replace this failed LG product. We were about to buy an LG TV, ha! No more...
Rusted inside within 3 years. Poor quality from what was a trusted brand. Will not buy LG again. Show details
Rusted after 12 months – Microwave was good at first, but started to rust inside after about 12 months. The rust continued to grow over time (despite good maintenance/cleaning) until it was no longer safe to use. When raised with LG, the only option they'd offer was for me to take it to an "Authorised Service Centre" over an hour's drive away and get it assessed at my… Read more
own cost. If (and only if) it was considered a manufacturing defect, they'd reimburse me the cost of the assessment - but obviously not the time, petrol, etc. making it simply not worth my while for a $300 microwave that will now be going in the bin after such a short time.
In terms of the microwave's function itself, I had no issues with it's cooking ability, though inputting times longer than a minute was somewhat of a nuisance having to use the rotary knob.
I should also point out this review (https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/8d4a5cca-791f-4cd2-9717-3c1925c63807) where the user has had exactly the same problem (albeit in a different area of the interior), with the same model, in about the same time frame, and received the same level of "customer service" as I have. This just goes to show that this is not a "one-off" case and both the issue and the "customer service" is what to expect with this microwave, and it seems this brand. My advice is to stay clear and go for a more reliable brand with a better track record of looking after their customers.
As a follow up to this review - LG have replied that "the rust reported on your unit is not as a… Read more

so silent, so bright!!! – pleasantly surprised by how bright inside the microwave is after enduring the cavelike dimness of our last microwave. It's quiet also. I'm still learning how to use it compared to our old one so I haven't used all of it's functions yet. But I like the defrost. It doesn't cook the edges of the food as much. I love how the door covers the whole width of the front. If you follow the food heating hint of covering the food, it heats up perfectly. Show details
Looks great, silent operation, does all that it says, excellent purchase...... highly recommended – Bought this for it's size and attractive looks, Choice gave it a high rating also.... This was a breeze to setup and use, does not have the annoying fan running after each use as other brands do. Fan operates only when cooking for extended periods and and unit is very hot which makes sense. Would recommend this product to anyone wanting to purchase a reliable microwave for the kitchen. . Beautiful product - lots of features – Pros: Very spacious, beautiful looking microwave Inside has a good quality coating prevents rust Heats food really quick Cons: The height of the inside could be bigger the knob gets dirty quickly pulling the door not much smooth Show details · 1

more throw away junk – does not cook or heat as well as the 30 year old philips it replaced, just out of warranty the digital display started loose it's ability to display numbers, so now if you are just heating, every beep is thirty seconds. just more throw away rubbish, won't bother with another one. Afew months on from this review it has stopped working altogether . We were thinking of a lg tv but if this is the quality of lg;s products it will be another brand.
Both stopped heating. Don’t buy – Our first one lasted 1 week. We had it replaced and the second one lasted 8months. The good guys had 7 LG microwaves in the repair racks, only one other brand in the mix. Ours is off getting repaired, we had the same fault twice, it stopped heating, everything else worked. They look good, work ok, but aren’t reliable. Show details

Garbage – Do not bother. This microwave should be removed from sale. It heats food perfectly when you first use it, but it will inevitably fail after a few months to a year or so of moderate use. We just had our magnetron replaced (a known fault, the local authorised repairer said). Now, the rotary dial won't push in and out. Despite its price tag, this… Read more
microwave is not the premium product it proclaims to be. It looks great, but this is garbage. Avoid at all costs unless you like waiting for your products to be repaired.

Disappointing product - Kills WIFI & Bluetooth/rust/loss of power – After a bit more than 2 years it became apparent it was killing our WiFi and Bluetooth, areas of rust were starting to form, and the efficiency was dropping (extra heating time required). Have numerous LG appliances and am very dissapointed with this purchase. We have tried persevering with it but we are at the point of extreme frustration, hence… Read more
my decision to only now leave a review. Looks like a new microwave purchase will have to happen because this is killing our way of life, particularly with the WiFi issue, and it seems we are not alone.
Terrible piece of equipment – Very fragile. Bought this unit after my last unit lasted 10 years. This unit broke in 2 years just outside warranty period. It stopped heating. It was showing signs after a year, was hit and miss with heat. Suggestion to owner of this unit if any heating issue during warranty call the customer service immediately as it is failing after warranty… Read more
otherwise lolzz.10 year warranty is the biggest legal scam, please don’t fall for it, you have to pay $100 for $60 parts.
Not Built to Last – My LG microwave suddenly stopped heating last week- sounds familiar? If not then scroll down to read numerous other reports detailing the same issue. Is there a pattern? Perhaps the part not suitable?? Who knows as LG don’t care as there is only 2 years warranty and it’s just over the 2 year period so tough luck. I actually counted LG chat and… Read more
they said I can take the microwave to my local service centre to be assessed and if it was a defective part it would be ’covered’. But when I took it to the service centre they told me to- the only one in Geelong, I was told it was $50 to book it in for assessment and it was probably the magnetron which had failed, and yes, that is covered under warranty, but only the part, not the labour. This is a warranty?? Should this part fail with just normal domestic use?? I’ve written again to LG to give them a chance to come to the part before I make a report to the office of fair trading, as consumers do have rights after the warranty fails and LG need to be shamed into doing something. I suggest others do too or they will keep getting away with this poor product. To think I actually purchased an LG microwave as Choice rated them the best! I hate to try the worst!
Tremendous waste of hard earned money – It stopped its very basic operation of reheating in just under 2 months after purchasing. And that we want a refund for our purchase. Show details
Stopped heating when 6 months out of warranty – Microwave worked perfectly for less than 3 years, then stopped heating. It wouldn't have been used even twice a week for a reheat. I must say, despite it being out of warranty LG at least covered first repair as it was a parts fault, but it did it again about 6 weeks later and wouldn't cover it. Show details
Has just died after 3.5 years – As others have said, this unit was good while it worked. I am astounded it has failed after relatively light use and after such a short time. Show details
stopped heating – Like many others here, the microwave has stopped heating 3 months out of warranty. I'd expect a much longer life from a microwave at this price point from a known brand. Show details
Don't Believe the 10 year Warranty. LG refuse to honour it – I purchased this microwave from Good Guys. Without warning it just stopped heating food, it worked for the evening meal, next morning nothing. Electronics, light and turntable all working just no heating. Contacted LG customer service and did all they asked. Uploaded documents and photographs. They were no help, they suggest I get it fixed… Read more
at my expense. Not really my understanding of 10 year warranty. I am very dissapointed in this failure to honour the warranty. Clearly printed on the door of the microwave are the words 10 year warranty. I have no idea what this means when the microwave stops working well within the 10 years only to be told by LG service that they refuse to honor this. Overall I now feel LnG may be a good brand name. Lifes not good, at least it is not good when the company acts so poorly. No one asked LG to offer a 10 year warranty but once you go surely it is basic good faith to follow through. Sadly I am left with conclusion that I can never trust an LG warranty statement. I notice here that many others have has similar experiences.

Wouldn't work after 8 months use. Replacement lasted just over 2 years – This microwave stopped working after only 8 months of use. It was replaced under warranty. The replacement lasted for approximately 2 years and 3 months and during that period it would take 3-4 attempts to start it. Our previous microwave (National Panasonic Genius) was still working after 37 years!! We only replaced it because it would not fit in the kitchen in our new house. Show details
I will NEVER buy any LG product again, NEVER – I bought a LG MS4266OSS microwave oven from The Good Guys. The unit's price was $284, I spent extra $65 (Total $349.00) with extended warranty. The time display unit has been partially visible now after the warranty has expired. I called LG, LG has come up with their terrible customer service. I got their repairer's number and called the repairer.… Read more
I was told that the cost would be in between $200 to $250 to fix the display issue which is almost close to the price of micro oven. I called back to LG and was told that they have nothing to do. If I want to fix it, I have to spend what the repairer told. I requested if I could purchase the display unit separately to give a go by myself but LG did NOT help. In summary, LG left me in a situation to either spend $200-$250 to fix the display or through the existing microwave and buy a new one. What a "Excellent" customer service! Just to add here, I had another bitter experience with LG customer service when I had issue with my LG OLED TV.
So the lesson that I learned - "NEVER EVER BUY ANY LG PRODUCT AGAIN''. These are just expensive good looking rubbish.
Stop heating just over 2 years – Bought this microwave in January 2020 and absolutely loved it, great appliance, easy to use, powerful, sleek finish but it just stop heating this week... after the warranty period was over of course! Argh! I would have expected this appliance to have a longer lifespan, most of the 1 start reviews state this issue, wonder is LG is doing something about it, very disappointed!! Show details
Defective Product - Do NOT buy LG from The Good Guys! – Within 3 months of buying the LG it started to quickly power itself off and back on from time to time. The digital display would also flicker and play up as well. It started doing it several times a week and still does to today. Everytime it does it I have to reset the clock. At the time that it first happened, I returned it to The Good Guys, and… Read more
they told me that because they couldn't replicate the problem in store, and despite me having several videos where I managed to capture it happening, they said it would need to be sent away for up to 2 1/2 months for LG technicians to evaluate it. They told me that of they couldn't replicate the problem there would be a $200 fee. I even showed them multiple videos where I can captured evidence of the defects. As we need a microwave at home we just kept it and continue to live with a DEFECTIVE LG MICROWAVE that The Good Guys made very difficult to return for replacement or repair. As a direct result of this, we have not dealt with LG or The Good Guys since.
Great machine, but it died :-( – I love this microwave so much! It's the best I've ever had. Then this week, it stopped working, just 2.5 years in. I'm so sad. I'd expect more for the price. Show details
Designed Obsolescence - full refund received, replacement is $20 more – 22 months in the microwave stopped heating. LG issued a full refund after a chat over the phone but The Good Guys required me to drive to their store and hand the microwave over for technicians testing. Today "The Good Guys" charge $20 more for the same model than what I paid for it originally. Show details
Short Lived for the Money – Mostly this oven worked ok. For a time. A bit quirky with the finest adjustment of 10 second steps. Then it just stopped heating shortly after warranty expired. Almost like it had an inbuilt warranty timer in the software. Many others have reported the same experience. Not worth paying good money to repair rubbish. I guess it'll be landfill. Show details
Disappointed. Purchased from Good Guys 2018. Stop heating even though not heavily used – Disappointed. Purchased from Good Guys 2018. Microwave has stopped heating even though not heavily used. Don't waste your money – Stopped heating food 2 months out of two year warranty. Spent more than usual for expected longevity. Has a smart tone diagnostic function but they won't do that if it is out of warranty and there are no troubleshooting ideas in manual. So zero support. Not like the old LG’s – Worked as a second microwave described perfectly for 2 1/2 years despite it rusting from the inside out, have photos of all the rust but can’t see how to upload pics, then just stopped heating. Why? – Edited review from 1 Star to 2 Stars: After nearly 2 years of ownership the microwave itself is pretty good, despite issues below it does work well, heats up pizza excellently and does work quite impressively in certain situations. timer? Check manual, no kitchen timer?! $319 and the smallest and most useful feature removed?
Why do companies consistently try to be smarter by being dumber?
The non rotary dial (previous version you have to open door to set program) has a timer, why doesn’t this?
Now have read other reviews and regret buying all together. Can’t take back and swap for the previous version as it’s been opened and set up.
