Does the job, just average – I have had this vacuum from last 3 years, cleans well on tiled floor and thin carpet and does get stuck on the corners intermittently. Battery life is good and for $ 400 it was not a bad buy back then. Thick carpets and it will struggle to move, but overall satisfied with this product. Show details
LG - Life's Gone! - Three weeks out of warranty and it breaks down – We purchased this vacuum 6th September 2014. It worked great for some time although it doesn't map the areas and likes getting stuck in places and mostly would run out of battery before finding the dock, due to the fact that it doesn't map the areas and doesn't remember where the dock is, it has to find the IR rays every time. Anyway, a few… Read more
months ago it stopped working, would start but not clean, just go out of the dock and stop. We took it back to The Good Guys who repaired it under warranty (replaced the motor, I mean it's only a year and a half old, and already needs motor being replaced?).
Last weekend the dock just simply died while the vacuum was cleaning. It wouldn't find the dock, and when we picked it up and put it on the dock, the dock didn't start charging as it usually does. We switched it OFF and ON at the wall, changed the wall sockets, nothing. Called The Good Guys only to find that it is out of warranty by three weeks, tough titties. Yet to call LG but we already know what that's going to achieve based on previous experience with them.
Will update this post once we have definitive answers.
Never LG – This review is more about the horrible experience I had trying to get my LG VR5906LM vacuum repaired/replaced. Wherever there were opportunities along the way for errors to be made and for my claim to be further delayed, LG made sure to take advantage of those opportunities. They struggled with the simplest of tasks, like communicating with the… Read more
authorised repair agent, repeatedly requesting, receiving, and somehow losing proof of purchase from the retailer and myself, providing incorrect instructions for processing of my claim, providing incorrect email addresses for sending through of claim processing documentation like proof of purchase, repair docket, etc. and they never followed through with promises to call me back with updates except for a couple of times near the end when I started to get really narky. There was no effort to manage my claim on LG's part. Every step of the way had to be pushed by me, as I received no proactive follow up except for two phone calls towards the end of this 4.5 month nightmare! Each time one of these errors mentioned above was discovered, it was only because I had followed up with a phone call to LG Customer Service chasing status of my claim. Each of these calls took up large chunks of my time, and caused me significant stress and frustration.
I don't know who trains the people on the other line at LG Customer Service, but they obviously don't have a clue about their own company, its processes, their levels of authority, or basic customer service.
Regardless of the product, if it's made by LG I wouldn't recommend buying it. If you do, you may need to make a claim at some point in the future, and you'll have to deal with LG Customer Service who will probably be about as effective at progressing your claim as a class of kindergarteners.
Lasted 2 years – The vac was initially good and did what it was advertised to do. After about 1 year we had random problems with the vac just running around in circles until now when it just refuses to budge after it is turned on. I'm really disappointed as these things are not cheap. I won't be venturing into this market again.
This Older Model Is More Reliable Than Newer Lg Models From What I've Read – So far my initial impressions of this vacuum are very positive. It cleans for over an hour, is VERY quiet, is smart and gets the job done in one go. It is also reliable at getting back to home base. Maintenance is VERY easy. Nice one LG, hopefully your newer models adopt a similar technology! Show reply
love it – Great machine Great product Couldn't imagine life without it. Every day for the last 2 years it neve missed until recently it suddenly decided to go backwards..any help would be greatly appreciated. Has this happened to anyone else and if so is it fixable or should I buy another one
Update - Not Poor Battery But Poor Machine – Yes I agree with the previous reviews. My RoboVac which is only a year old and hasn't been used that much in the past 6 months due to a baby harassing it so it had been put away. Since I have got it out again it has hissy fits and mental break downs. I just spoke to LG and they've asked me to replace the battery to check if that's the problem but… Read more
it looks like a $150 cost to do that which is a lot to pay if that's not the problem. I was looking at Product Review to see if anyone else has had a battery issue with theirs and it looks like I'm not the only one dealing with this issue.
I'm sure I checked out Product Review when I bought the RoboVac and I don't recall anyone having any issues with this RoboVac's battery, just wondering if it's a bad batch of batteries?
Loved the Robovac when it was cleaning. Did find it had some issues with my rugs where the colours/patterns joined, didn't want to go over them, frustrating.
UPDATE: So I bit the bullet and got my robovac checked out by LG/Harvey Normans technician rather than buying a new battery. They discovered the machine was faulty (not the battery). Since I had Harvey Normans Product Care they have given me store credit to buy another as they have now been discontinued.
Poor Battery Life – Cleans quite well whilst battery is new but when battery is older it doesn't recall where it was up to so doesn't clean the whole house. When priced the battery I was shocked by the price as it works out to be a 1/4 of what I paid for the robot. I haven't bothered replacing the battery as of yet but I will most likely look at a different brand instead now as only lasted six months.
Battery only lasts 6 months and costs over $100 to replace – Only lasts 6 months before the battery dies which costs a quarter of vacuum to replace but while it is working it does a good job
Great for tiled floors – We have large tiled areas in our home and the LG Roboking does a great job. It stuggles on our carpet, which is a deep pile. However we bought it specifically for the tiled areas to keep them free of dust and hair. It is working perfectly for our purpose.
good for the first week – in September we bought this robot vacuum, since then we have replaced it 3 times with newer better models. this model was great for the first couple of weeks than by November it kept stopping in random places, not finding the home station. it kept getting stuck in between objects, and was doing really quick cleans ( and by that I mean going for 3… Read more
minutes than stopping) but on the other hand I was really suprised on how much dust this picked up. we have a cleaner that does a full house vacuum once every 2 weeks and she dusts, mops and everything. we also clean our selves almost every day. we would put the vacuum on twice a day and the filter would be full.
Great help with our cleaning! – I have owned this little guy, "Robo", for over a year now and I think it does a good job at cleaning up around my house. We have a fairly open-planned living area with white tiles, so I am often wanting a quick clean to pick up the grass and dirt. Although I am fairly pleased with the results, I have found that it sometimes only does half our… Read more
house or a very short clean before saying, "Cleaning Finished", and heading back to its recharge station. I'll have to then start it again and see whether it will do the full job. Another frustrating point is when it gets stuck between our dining chairs or when it turns itself off while cleaning around the fridge.
Otherwise, I'm pleased with the Roboking and should remember to use it more.
A timer mode where you can set it to vacuum at certain times each day would be very useful. The timer on this model is only good if you remember to set it.
Excellent! – I love this little guy. Purchased for work as we have a huge room of polished concrete and it works great. We use it all over the building. I'm always amazed at the dust he finds in what looks like a clean room. Was a little disappointed when first found out that the "scheduling" is just a time delay, as I had assumed it was set and forget -… Read more · 2
but my mistake when buying I guess.
Have since purchased a Romba 630 for home and while I like it, I think the LG is better. Only had the Romba for about a month so we'll see how it goes.

First day, great job – We have a 2 bedroom fully tiled unit. Two kids and a dog make a fair bit of mess. 1 hour running this baby and the house looks amazing. Chased the dog a little, but he didn't seem too fussed by it. I followed it around the house for its first run to make sure it was okay, and apart from sucking up a few things from under the kids beds (which they… Read more
swore had nothing under them)... It has done a fantastic job. I will wait to see the longgevity of the unit, but so far SUPER IMPRESSED
My floors have not been cleaner – After much research I purchased a robot vacuum cleaner. Some are quite stupid and just seem to bash into things. The LG is a bit more expensive than these cheaper models but senses obstacles and does not bash into furniture or walls as much. Works very well on our timber floors, a bit less effective on the carpet (only 2 rooms have carpet so no… Read more
biggy for us). It does struggle to find its way home when a long way from home base, but it doesn't take much to just pick it up and take it home. Great entertainment watching our boy go round the house and it gets under our bed.
I come home from work and my husband is always proud that he has done the vacuuming. Doesn't come with a virtual wall but we are all one level and you just close the doors to rooms you don't want done, or block off the hallway with a pair of shoes. We did forget to close the glass sliding doors one day and it tried to escape outside. Minimal effort to keep the floors clean not super smart but then who is
Best cleaning item ever! – I spent ages researching, my mum bought the square LG Roboking and it does a fantastic job, but I couldn't afford to pay that much. I also read Roomba were not the top of the market so decided to look into the LGs. After a visit to a store to see these in action, I was quite impressed and told by the salesman that the LGs have the same suction but… Read more
the reason for the price differences were the technology of them. More expensive have more cameras and can map more efficiently. I decided to go with VR5906LM as it was mid range, and I found a refurbished one for $250 cheaper than store prices. I have dark plush carpet and it looks dirty all the time, every bit of fluff shows and with 2 small children I don't have the time to run the Dyson over it everyday. Yes robot vacuums are 'in between vacuums' but since I have had it (3 weeks) I have not used my Dyson, it does such a good job. I will still need to use my Dyson to clean along where the carpet meets the skirting boards but that is pretty much it. I also have tiled areas and it cleans that just as well. It won't clean shaggy rugs and if you have things in the way (cords etc) it will run over them and get stuck, but for the sake of moving things out the way (as you would with a big vacuum) I am happy to do that, and set the timer so it can clean when I go out. Overall I think this is a fantastic little vacuum and well worth the money spent. Everything Nothing really. Barrier would be good to stop it going into certain areas (probably available, will have to research)
Does a great job, you'll be surprised! – After researching a little bit about robot vacuums, I found out that iRobot Roombas' weren't best anymore and brands like LG and Neato, were performing a lot better. In fact, in a professional experiment the LG RoboKing picked up more dust/dirt in less than half the time of the iRobot. Although this one does have a couple of down sides, the up… Read more
sides far outweigh them. I am glad I chose this robot and haven't regretted it since. Comparatively inexpensive, Easy to use, Easy to maintain, Good Warranty, List goes on... Gets stuck on SOME types of shaggy carpets, Doesn't do as great of a job on bedroom carpets.
we love him! – I have new floating floors and was horrified at how much dust was visible on said floors, I also have 2 dogs and a cat who seem to constantly shed and a 4 year old who leaves a trail of rubbish behind him. Our little ET is wonderful the floors are perfect everyday when I get home. He does trip over a few things but the inconvenience of putting him… Read more
back on track is a pleasure compared to vacuuming 3-4 times a week. It amazes me how much hair he picks up. I just hope he lasts. Convenience - switch on and go. Nothing -yet
Handy – Have owned this robot for a few months now. Even tho we were a bit sceptical at first, it does a very nice job on tiled surfaces. It really makes a difference to the general cleanliness of the house as far as dust, crumbs, and fluff goes. The first time we used it, we were amazed at how much stuff it picked up. The bin was full. With regular… Read more · 2
use, the bin now has a small amount of material after the Robo does a clean.
It's not set and forget! The bin has to be emptied, filters cleaned, and the rollers and sensors need to be cleaned as well. These things are not arduous but I guess they are worth doing to keep the machine running nicely.
It's definitely a great adjunct to using the big vacuum cleaner, and easier to use more often- push the button and away it goes. It helps to clear things out of its way, like furniture, mats, electric cables and so on. It keeps on top of things, not too noisy, easy to use.
My personal cleaner! – Was given as a gift and we love this lil guy, he vacuums a section of the house, then i go and mop it while he does the other! Saves me from doing both jobs. I was quite impressed with how much dust and dirt it was able to pick up. We have floating floor boards, carpet and tiles and it seems to do the job on all surfaces incredibly well. Our dog… Read more · 1
sheds slightly so picks the hairs up no problems. Fantastic for the daily house sweep but you'll still have to do the monthly major house clean. Nonetheless, a great time saver. Very efficient in non cluttered homes. Would highly recommend. Quiet, vacuums very well
