Bad at cleaning and doesn’t like to spin properly – I inherited this when I moved house, and when this thing kicks the bucket, I shan’t be going near anything LG that’s for sure! Practically never washes anything properly. If there’s anything more than half full, you’ll get a wash, but anything other than light soiling will not shift. Loves loves loves to go to UE code (unbalanced load) and… Read more
then just stops. What’s worse, there is no straight spin cycle, so you’ve got to re wash the whole thing again.
I utterly hate this machine. Don’t buy LG!
Do not buy – This is absolutely the worst washing machine I have ever owned/used. It just refuses to do a full cycle. It won't spin half the time. You can have a full load, half, doesn't matter. It has been rebalanced many many times, and it still jumps around like it's not balanced. Regardless of being firm on a tiled space. Forget about washing towels,… Read more
machine cannot handle even 1. Throws the whole thing off, and just sits on the spin part of the cycle, but won't spin. Is under warranty, bought the extended warranty but they won't fix it because I need to somehow get the machine to them. Although, when I purchased the warranty they said they would send a technician out if there was ever any issues. So, the worst service as well. I am a housekeeper, and have seen this machine at a few houses. It does the same thing at their house too, so it's not just my unit.

Poor Quality - Rusting - The only thing worse than the product is the LG comments to avoid warranty - Buy Something Else – I bought in 2016. Less than 5 years later it started peeling and rusting on the front. I called LG and they said, it isn’t covered by their warranty and must have been from “inappropriate use” then the door handle broke. The only way we have used it, is as a washing machine. The customer service denial about their faults to avoid helping is another reason to buy something else. Show details

Still doing well after 5 years – I bought this machine mid-2015 and wash 2-3 times/week. I also do some fabric dyeing in this machine. I have also washed woollen doonas (single size) and regularly wash wool and silk knits. I haven't had any problems with anything I've washed so far. It washes well even on the shorter cycles. The 30-minute quick wash is very handy (although only… Read more · 1
takes 3kg). My go-to cycle is the Mixed load which can take up to 5kg and is done in 55 minutes (including higher than usual spin speed of 1400 RPM).
I find the Cotton Cycle and the Eco Cotton cycle both very long. It would be good to have more information on the water and electricity use of each cycle so as to work out what's worth doing. If either of those was much better than the Mixed cycle, I'd wash overnight using the timer, and have a load ready to hang in the morning.
I like that the machine senses the load size and uses less water for smaller loads.
There are both hot and cold water connections, but I've found that the hot water isn't used on lower temperature washes (<=40C) which is as high as I ever use. I wanted to use my solar hot water for warm washes, but that hasn't worked out. Also, I just discovered in the manual that the incoming hot water must be less than 65C, so it's possible that my HW is too hot for the machine to use.
Lasted less than 4 years – This machine stopped working last Friday, a week short of 4 years since our purchase from the Good Guys Ballina. Black oil streaks were evident on a hand towel, tea towel and small cotton floormat after an eco wash last Friday. When I looked closely and felt around inside the stainless steel drum, my fingers emerged with black grease on them and… Read more
the drum made a loud grating metal sound at the back when I rotated it. The repairer I contacted advised that it was extremely likely to be a main bearing and oil seal that had failed, and it was going to be a very labour intensive repair - very expensive even if LG honoured their warranty of free parts for major faults for 10 years from purchase.
Contacted LG who offered to send a repair person to assess the machine, but advised that if it was found to be fault free I would have to pay for the callout. I agreed, but when LG next contacted me the story had changed. Now I was to be charged for the callout and for the labour cost for replacing the main bearing if it was found to be worn out. LG also sent me a patronising email suggesting that the marks on the items had been caused by "SCRUDS" which can occur after a build up of detergent in the machine. I have never used fabric softener or washing powder in this machine (only eco friendly liquid) and often used very hot wash cycles as we have solar hot water. In their email LG failed to address the grating metal noise in the drum I had told them about which they said could only be confirmed by the repair person.
Contacted Good Guys Ballina who said the machine is out of 2 year manufacturer's warranty, you didn't buy extended warranty insurance so there's nothing we can do for you.
I decided to replace the machine, having had nearly 4 years of use at 3 or 4 washes per week for a 2 person household for $799! I didn't purchase extended warranty insurance because this machine was advertised as a having a Direct Drive motor which LG claimed would be more reliable and less noisy than other models. The poor quality of their products apparently means that customers are obliged to purchase extended warranty insurance to guarantee a reasonable life for the product. I would expect a reasonable life for an $800 washing machine to be 6-8 years.
Not good enough LG - I would not recommend anyone waste their money on an LG product.
Small and Quiet and Efficient – I had no idea how large my top loader was until I swapped it out for the 7.5kg Front Load LG Washing Machine WD14023D6. This little front loader has made my laundry seem spacious and, even better, is that the LG front loader is quiet; with a child lock! Seriously - it’s quiet. I did’t know washing machines were like this. It’s not like my… Read more
previous one was from the 60s or anything; it was actually only 4 years old, regrettably bought from Harvey Norman. The old top loading Simpson was eventually brought back to life by my retired father-in-law who spent two days working on it. While he spent his time doing that, I had researched washing machines and eventually bought a new one through appliancesonline.com.au, who had it delivered within 24 hours. I no longer have to be concerned about the noise waking up a baby, or a small child turning it off mid-cycle. If only my terrible Bellissimo (Technika) dish washer had a child lock. The amount of times my kid has pressed the off button mid-cycle on that…
The LG has heaps of washing options but I tend to use the quick wash, which takes 30 minutes.
No problems at all with the 7.5kg Front Load LG Washing Machine WD14023D6.

Amazing wool cycle – I have always handwashed/ drycleaned sweaters and wool garments at the end of winter and dread the hassle. This time I decided to test the wool cycle on the machine with some trepidation. It was incredibly good on even alpaca/wool blends and synthetic and wool blends. They were also perfectly spun so that they were half dry. There was no shrinkage… Read more
at all, they were not mishapen in any way. I love this machine in every way but wanted to let others know that they can trust the wool cycle.
great machineb – cleans and rinses real well and also good on short cycle ,, does not damage the clothes and easy to set and forget, plus will let you know when finished .also have had no problems at all with machine and still washes as good as the day purchased. great machine Show details
Fast spin Dry and little creases – I would rate this front loader 9 out of 10 I would say less than the conventional agitator washing machine only know it on while super fast spin drying The high speed spin drying and the crease ease function are just 2 of the many things i love about this washer Show details

Just under 4 years and its about to go – This is not a bad washing machine we have used it 5 days a week but just under 4 years usage noticing the drum bearings are wearing out so getting a very loud jet engine sound on spin cycle . LG labels its motors with 10 year warranty but this is very misleading perhaps a joke to consumers once the bearings go its not covered under the… Read more
10 year motor warranty and its way too expensive to fix and the washing machine will be simply be tossed out.
Does not spin ! – I have an LG front loader 7.5kg (WD14023D6) and it often cannot complete a full final spin at the end of the wash. It will get stuck at the 8 min time stamp and loop on itself many times until I manually intervene to split the load. This happens very very often. One instance I had only half a load and it could not complete a full cycle. Just… Read more
today I wanted to spin 1 jeans (by itself) and the machine could not even complete the spin.
I have logged a case with the LG servicing department and I have been going back and forth with them for over 1 month.
Is this what I expect from LG? #disappointed
Broke down exactly 2 months out of warranty – Although the washing itself was fine, it was typical consumerism that the machine broke down when it just went out of warranty. And of course, a broken motherboard which was gelled so not easy to fix. We only got a bit less than 1800 washing cycles out of our machine, which is not enough for the price we paid for the machine. Very disappointing… Read more
and after having already written Samsung off for exactly the same reason, we will now, unfortunately, have to add LG to the "do not purchase" list.

LG WD14023D6 7.5kg Front Load – Very pleased with this unit it replaced a Whirlpool upright. It took a little while to work out the fine tuning of each setting, the manual is easy to read and generally steers you in the right direction, I found I needed to include an extra rinse on a full load cotton cycle to remove the scent of the washing powder, in lighter loads this is not… Read more
a problem.
I very quickly learnt smaller more frequent loads were the best way to go. I have also washed blankets, curtains and a floor rug all without any problems and good stain removal/cleaning.
It is in the laundry so noise is not a problem, I found it made about as much noise as a dishwasher.
Overall I am very pleased with the performance.

Terrible warranty service from LG – The machine has punched a hole in the outer drum apparently caused by a foreign object (not found) even as small as a bobby pin according to the repair company and rendered the machine useless!! LG will not repair under warranty as they claim this is "miss use" however I consider the front load machine to be far too fragile. Apparently this is… Read more
not an uncommon problem with these machines and would not recommend anyone even consider a front loader. I certainly won't.
Great washing machine – Good value washing machine. When i first tried it I was surprised how quiet it ran...It has direct drive motor. And it uses very little water and needs very little washing powder to wash clothes. For smallish washes i use the 30 min quick wash with about 1/2 scoop of washing powder. The clothes come out very clean. For full loads it takes… Read more
about 1.5 hrs but the wash is very easy on the clothes and there is an amount of sitting time.
It has about 13 programs including wool and baby and different fabric options. There is an option for a hospital grade clean.
Key to living well – Aside from being energy and water efficient, my clothes are gently but thoroughly cleaned and well rinsed. The noisiest element of operation is the sound of the water running through the household plumbing. I am yet to use the 'Silent Wash' mode. Otherwise the menu options are diverse and can be configured manually, which I do almost every… Read more
wash. Unless there is a revolution in washing technology, I anticipate having this machine for some time to come and I will certainly be looking at an LG machine when the time comes for it to be replaced.
Great washing machine, very nice performance and quality – A very nice washing machine, though at a higher price point, it is certainly worth the extra.... Have had the machine over a year now, perfectly working as new, nice washing results..... though it could be better for LG to replace the outer drum with stainless steel like Bosch and Miele since the prices are very similar.... But overall, a good machine Show details
Best Front Loader I've Had – I am on my 3rd front loader and this LG is by far the best of the 3. Our house is elevated with timber floors, and while the other 2 used to try and shake the house off it's foundations, the LG is quiet and barely detectable even when it's on it's 1200 rpm cycle. It's just over 6 months old now, and has never given us any trouble, but if the… Read more
unthinkable happens, I would buy another one without hesitation.
The only gripe i have with it, is just at the end of the cycle, it turns itself Off and the Door lock light goes Off, but the door still remains locked for another minute or so. But once you are alerted to that (Nowhere in the instructions does it mention it) you get used to it.
Towel killer – My Egypt cotton towels have been destroyed come out stiff, after endless calls to customer care still no good. Velure towels the same. Seems to over wash all the clothes to death, special arco washing machine stop, have ended the water hammer took 3 plumbers. The draw stand had to send back it made it bang out of control.
BRILLIANT. LOVE MY NEW MACHINE – Bought this LG washing machine about 6 weeks ago and I love it. Cleans the clothes very well. Great selection of wash cycles including a quick 30 minute wash. I have to keep going to the laundry to check if the machine is on because it is so quiet. I love the little tune it plays when the cycle is finished. A nice little touch. to see how long it lasts as I got 15years from my last front loading machine which was an Asko. So far Love, Love, Love it.
Ok but with some rough edges – Pros: Quick standard wash times (Mix/40C/1000RPM - 1:20). Doesn't need to connect hot water inlet to work. Cons: Hard shutoff on the water inlet valve - creates bad water hammer. Especially because it turns the inlet quickly on/off when it first starts the cycle. Noisy drain pipe - gurgles a lot. The drain pipe noise is made worse because the… Read more
drain pump keeps getting switched on/off during the cycle which causes the drain pipe to make quite a lot of gurgling noises. I think I've fixed it by sticking some aquarium air hose piping up the drain pipe to help prevent the vacuum from forming.
Very happy with this machine – A couple of reviews about this front loader say its noisy and ruins clothes, this is complete nonsense. Have had this machine for a few months now and its very quiet and the clothes come out great. It has a good set of functions and you can override with ease.

Very disappointed – I have had the same problem, my clothes look like years old after a wash, also have ruined two bottom sheets the elastic has been completely destroyed. I might have saved on water & electricity, etc. but will have to buy clothes more frequently. Very disappointed after having a hoover top loaded for 34 years.
Good features, washes well, but quite noisy – This washer does a good job of washing our clothes, comes packed with useful features that are easy to use, and looks good. Unfortunately, the biggest selling point of this washer—its near-silent running—does not deliver. From the first wash, we noticed quite a bit of movement and the drum clunking noisily during the spin cycle. This we were… Read more
able to resolve mostly by re-balancing the unit, which apparently our installer from The Good Guys had not done well enough.
What we could not correct, however, was the surprisingly loud gurgling noises that the unit makes while pumping water out throughout the spin cycle. This gurgle emanates from the drain hose (it is not coming from our plumbing), and was loud enough to wake our entire household in the middle of the night when we started a wash at bed time.
We contacted LG about the issue, and it advised us to get the unit replaced by our retailer, who happily swapped it over, but the new unit behaved identically. When we contacted LG a second time, and provided a video demonstrating the noise, they advised us that the noise was normal, and a result of “the pressure in the hose”. We also had someone from Good Guys come out to observe the issue in person, and he agreed it was quite annoying, but assured us that all washers make the same noise.
Love them – We really like the LG direct drive motor and the 10yr cover with the front loader and we also got an LG dishwasher and that too has been a 5 star purchace...This product is quiet and washes my clothes thoroughly, from heavy dirt to delicates. It uses very little water and a tiny amount of deterge Thank you LG
Superb product i have no issues with it – Superb product i have no issues with it they even provide timely service clothes are dried instantly so i could go for my job without any worries but the only downside is it consumes a large amount of water otherwise it is simply superb. Hope it will be rectified soon.
So good! – This product is quiet and washes my clothes thoroughly, from heavy dirt to delicates. It uses very little water and a tiny amount of detergent. I am saving a fortune on laundry detergent. It's efficiencies with water and detergent are especially beneficial because I do a lot of light loads. The spin cycle is excellent.
GREAT WASHER – I have owned this machine for two years. I needed something larger than 5.5kg for bedding and 7.5 does up to King bed doona. I wanted a machine which is economical on water and electricity use, and I found it! I wash up to three, 6-7.5kg loads per week. Standard wash cycle delivers excellent results as do the gentle cycles, the 60 mins is… Read more
good and the 30 mins is fine for light soiling. Quiet. My first front loader and I am converted.
No servicing needed to date . Utterly reliable.
Great Washing Machine – We bought this washing machine about 6 months ago and find that it works absolutely excellent. The washing is always very clean and the machine is very quiet, Some people appear to be annoyed by the silly music that indicates completed cycle but we have never heard it. It only plays once and with the laundry door closed it's impossible to hear. We can definitely recommend the model
Good front loader machine - some annoying features though – Very happy with this machine, it washes the clothes well and has a good number of wash options. Had it for about 1 month now. Easy installation, helpful instructions. Cons: 1) beep/song at end of every wash. There is a manual way you can stop this song/beep happening, but you have to instruct the machine to do this on every wash (i.e.… Read more
can't just turn this function off). I've been finding it sometimes works/sometimes doesn't. Annoying when a wash finishes after you've gone to sleep, only to be woken by beeping chimes!
2) Door only opens with left hinge - annoying for our set up in laundry that they don't have a right hand hinge option on machines.
3) I've been in touch with LG on the above points. It took them 3 weeks to respond to my query (after chasing them up 3 times), to find out neither had a solution! Rather disappointing customer service.
4) When I bought the machine, I entered the specific promo on at the time (6 months worth of free laundry powder) - still haven't received it yet.
*** Since writing this review, LG have got back to me apologizing for the delay in getting back to me and the poor customer service I received. They took their reputation/brand issues seriously, which encourages me. A good company... Good all-rounder machine. Does the wash job well. Annoying beep/chimes, left hand door opening only, bad LG customer service
Is a washing machine suppose to wash cloths with water? I thought so!! – After 19 years of a faultless ASKO run we bought this LG. Machine looks good, is quiet, seems build well, is priced affordably, intuitive and convenient program selection and optional extras, even "sings" when it finishes and also turn itself off completely when finishes. But this machine is a total waist of life, time, money, patience and… Read more
hygiene, since the quality of wash is appalling at best and barely there at worst.
In our comprehensively demented search of wash without water, this machine is trying its hardest to wash with a couple of table spoons of water and with programs as long as 3 and half hours in order to compensate for the total lack of water. It is so bad that we use a timer so after 5 minutes from starting we add about 6 litres of water, depending of the amount of clothing to be washed, by hand with a jug. Is just a circus. Tomorrow will ring ST Vinnies to come and take it away since is only 11 months old and on with a $3000 Miele who at least gives an option to add more water automatically if we want. Certainly this water and energy star rating has gone way too far. everything uses so little water the cloths are never clean enough
Slightly dissapointed – We purchased the WD14023D6 last week. All excited for this new type of drive and fresh from all the good reviews we started it up. First thing I noticed was the hard shut off of the water valve. This is especially so in the 1st few minutes. I now have water hammer that I never had before . (prev 2 x Bosch front loaders.) I would recommend LG… Read more
fits a soft close valve ?
Any way after giving it a self clean pre wash I noticed there was a hum coming from the machine on spin. The hum was an out of balance making the panels resonate. The drum was not running true either.
After re checking levels etc there was no change.
A 1/2 load of towels was then washed.
When it got to the spin cycle we could sense vibration 2 rooms away.
We tried a couple more different wash loads with the same effect. A call to Appliances on line got us put thru to LG. The "rep" ran thru all the normal balance steps etc and got us to send the fault tones. There were none. We were instructed to ring supplier and get it changed over.
This we did.
New one yesterday. Gave it a long wash with towels.
Similar issues, plus loud hum/buzz noises on some parts of the cycles that could be heard in other rooms. :(
This time on spin there was a soft thumping noise that could be felt if you held your hands on the machine. The side panels also vibrated.
I tried it again empty. No thumping noise but still a noticeable vibration thru the body of the machine.
This just makes you feel sick inside. A new washing machine, many good reviews and ours seem to have issues. Hopefully not unfounded?
You can see the drum thru the door has not been formed perfectly. It moves about 15mm when empty on spin. I guessing when loaded it helps to exaggerate the balance issue.
The floor is porcelain tiles on an 100mm concrete base. Its not perfect but adjusting the feet makes it level and tight.
We don''t know if what we have is normal for this model or even if our expectations are too high?
A couple more loads gave varying outcomes.
Looks like we should not of returned the 1st one as the drum in that was only out by about 12mm and it didnt buzz. Wonder if I can get it back :)
I'm also wondering if the vibration will get worse over time as the shock absorption mechanisms wear down.
Advice on what to do now would be helpful.
Washing, yes very good. Reviews, cycle options, drive system. Noise, vibrations.
Best front loader for the price – Just a wonderful great machine for the price that you pay, my old LG which run for last 12 years and still running, decided to change over as it was slow drying RPM, so given to our friends for free who just migrated from overseas and bought this new machine, clothes washes great, self drum clean module and finaly it has it's own diagnostic system… Read more · 1

Two defective units in a row – Washing machine was pilling, pulling threads and actually putting small tears in our clothes. After extensive troubleshooting and ruining a few too many of our good clothes we had a good look at the drum and found burrs around all the little holes and bumps. It looks like the machine that pressed the holes or bumps in the drum struck the drum a… Read more
second time in the wrong place leaving rough gashes that are visible upon close inspection with a torch. Either that or the metal went into the machine crookedly or the machine pressed down too far - either way it's left rough areas where it impacted with the drum just around the edge of the holes. Running a fingernail over some of the holes catches your fingernail on a burr which would certainly be enough to pull threads.
We purchased through the Good Guys who replaced it with another one, and it has the same problem! It's immediately noticable just from looking at the little holes in the drum.
This product gets such good reviews here that we assumed it'd be isolated to the one machine but it's affected us twice (with all the hassle involved in being there for delivery people each time and dealing with the retailer). I certainly wouldn't recommend buying any of the ones in stores now in case it has the same issue. If we didn't get two defective units and ruin a bunch of our clothes in the process, it may otherwise be a decent machine Faults in drum left burrs that would pill and pull threads - same problem in two machines!
Love it! – I've had my LG front loader for about 2 months now and have been very impressed so far. I was a bit hesitant buying a new machine as I had been so happy with my old reliable Whirlpool but now I wish I had bought my LG sooner!
