READ before you engage them for any job. I understand there's a call out fee. He jiggled the door handle and quoted $680 to remove the handle, because he now has to use a 'more power' tool. He can see we were desperate and took advantage of the situation. When I ask him to repeat the price, he said, he can negotiate with his manager but that's… Read more
the best price he can offer. I ask him kindly to leave and thank him for his service. And he charged me $100 plus credit card fee which includes the call out fee, plus the 10mins he's here.
We're women, he thinks he can scam us for more money.
After he left, I was able to force the handle out and twist the core to free the trapped person in there.
Very ridiculous company, charging absurd prices. so many hidden fees.
This company is a rip off and uses dodgy tactics to get clients in. Yet to see if the part lasts. The technician was quick and polite. I was quoted $29 call out $50 installation plus cost of the lock barrel. I ended up paying $367.00. which was then quoted when the technician was on site. I always expected to pay at least $200, I dont expect the technician to work for free, but he would not be making anything near what I was charged. Show details
Do not use this company. They often change business names to remain elusive, they use substandard materials that are fitted poorly and of course they charge outrageous fees. I contacted them with no response. So I have submitted a complaint to the ACCC and encourage everyone else to do the same to at least have some price regulation, transparency and accountability of this industry that profits off peoples basic need to feel safe.
Prices are disgustingly inaccurate, it’s not funny. GST is included in this country, do not let these guys tell you differently. If you are unsure about their practices, contact ACCC.
Follow-up · Clearing things up: - Initial quote was verbally said to be $300, there is 0 clear pricing on their website or when you call up. - We did not get an invoice, despite asking for one to be said and providing contact details for it. We now only have our bank statement. - GST was not mentioned until it was time to pay, and when we pushed back about… Read more

to open the door at 12/42 Viewstreet in Chatswood. I did not get a receipt and the mean from Israel broke the lock.
Follow-up · I never received a receipt for the money I paid. I could not open the door after the worker left and had to get another locksmith to open the lock. And I had to pay him as well. All the work was done within working hours.
Follow-up · You said you do not have a record of the work done at my flat. This is because you looked at the wrong date. It was on the second of June not on the sixth of February. Could you look again please?
Follow-up · I still did not get a receipt for the work that was done on my flat nor an acknowledgement from you that you had sent the locksmith.
Very bad service and high cost, they changed name to coco locksmith
Don't be lured in by the $35 call out fee. Once arrived, they charge an exhorbitant amount for the service. Can back to correct dodgy work but the craftsmanship was terrible, leaving big hole in the door. The second lock (which cost more than $200 to oil the cylinder and took 10 minutes) stopped working again after three weeks and they have not returned 3 phone calls nor responded to an email,
Do not use this locksmith company. Was locked out of a friends house so called this locksmith - advertising a $35 call out fee (which I can accept) and then a starting price of $45+ for a house lock so I thought it can’t be any more than $100 for a small lock on the front door. Customer service was so bad even on the phone, he hung up on me before… Read more
I even finished giving him the address so I had to call him back confirming if he was even coming and asking how much is it would be, he said he has to wait until he has seen the lock to quote a price (not sure if that is standard procedure) . He arrives, has a look at the lock and says it would cost $400 to pick the lock, I told him that can’t be right as the website does not advertise prices like that and he only has to pick the lock. He tells me he can discount for $350 I tell him still too much. He asks me how much I’ll pay and I said $150 max he tells me he can only do $200. He was not happy about that at all so was rude for the rest of the interaction. Anyway he got the job done in about 20 mins but never going back here again!
Paid $1053 to replace two locks costing $105 at Bunnings. Took about 30 minutes to complete. Damaged windows sill in the process and one lock was croocked. Refusing to return my calls.
These guys advertise a $35 domestic callout rate for emergency services. What they don’t tell you is that when they get to your apartment they inform you that the fee to open the door is $299! To that they add the callout fee plus gst and a credit card service fee. So, for $368.84 they opened the door and that’s it - the fault was due to a missing… Read more
screw but the so called tradesman didn’t have any spares. I still had to repair the lock myself. Absolutely appalling and dishonest service
The tradesman came and quoted the job at $600. He came in at 1030am and left at 11:30am. The job took 1 hour. The tradesman supplied a cylinder worth $50. So in total the tradesman charged $550 per hour for 1 hour and $50 of parts. It's a robbery.
M&E locksmiths have renamed themselves as On Road Locksmiths North Melbourne. Their admin confirmed this and the payment I made went to M&E locksmiths. On Road is just as shoddy and bad.

The guy was great and did it fast.. however do not be fooled by 35$ call out fee. I did it as non urgent case ie 2 days in advance. For two keys for a balcony and back sliding door cost: $1052 total. Be careful they cost far too much. Other cheaper locksmiths around as I found out the hard way
You shouldn’t exploit people in emergencies. I’m a tradesperson myself, and I understand that urgent jobs come with costs for labor and tools. I was in a situation where my door handle only needed to be pulled from the inside with a hook. I explained this to your locksmith, but he kept insisting that the charge was based on the lock type—even… Read more
though the lock wasn’t involved at all! After explaining it in the simplest way, he opened the door within a minute.
Then, he quoted me $350+, which is outrageous. You’re not making a key, changing a lock, or using any special tools or skills—just pulling a handle!
I’ll be posting this review on ProductReview so others are aware.
Complete and utter extortion!!. Came to unlock my locked front door. Tried to charge just under $500 when I called him out on it and told him that was a scam. He went to his car, made a call, then came back and said he could do it for $150. Barely knew what he was doing. Needed to get into my house, so had no choice. Avoid Avoid Avoid. Show details
Scammer and unpfofessional – Came to adjust a gate lock, the guy didn't have a clue on how to adjust, here for around ten minutes, undone a few screws, never adjusted anything and left the screws undone, charged $255, a total scam, do not use this company
Scammer - do not use – Absolute crook - do not use. Will overcharge and take advantage of you. Last person you would ever want to do anything to do with locks on your home or anywhere else
Pure rip-off – $35 call-out fee plus a $150 cancellation fee if you do not proceed with the quote. Total: $185 for doing nothing. Get ready for a rip-off. Plus GST and Credit card surcharg on an on .
SCAM - Overpriced and deceptive – - Labour was only 10mins - used a wire and rope, slotted under the door to open handle of my front door from inside - I asked him to repeat the quoted price 2 times before he unlocked the door and was deceived anyway. - despite my asking, never gave a total for quoted prices. - service cost me $665.95 when the advertised fee was $35 for call-out… Read more
fee and $45 for lockout fee.
After I realised just how absurdly I’d been overcharged I contacted the company via phone and email. I wanted to lodge an official complaint and was told the pricing was my fault for not negotiating it down. I then requested an itemised invoice and was given no timeline or real answer over the phone and so far no response via email.
SCAMMER – Only 1 star because I can't do minus 10 SCAMMER.............this guy is a joke at best. Great rip off syndicate is being run here. He quoted $400 and ended up asking for $900 throws around some [Content Removed] numbers, rough as guts, distress everything then doubles his invoice.. DO NOT TRUST ....melbournelocksmithservice.com ( they wipe their hands clean of this guy. ) BEWARE>>>>>>>>>>>>>
BEWARE! Not worth one star – If I could give these guys less than 1 star I would. He rocked up pulling prices out of nowhere, quoting over $1700 for the job. Ended up replacing one flyscreen and one door key - $525 for 5 minutes work - $400 to change 2 barrels - daylight robbery. Tried to charge $150 emergency call out fee too! I've called the office twice to speak to the owner with no response. Don't touch these guys - complete and utter rip off.

Price gouged to the Max – Very poor! I was charged: $399 for 'unlocking' (5 mins) $135 for 'emergency call' (during business hours) $399 for 'new E Cylinder $93.30 for labour. Total cost $1128.93 for half an hour on site.
Terrible experience - please avoid – Save yourself the time, hassle, stress and pieces of mind and avoid using this company. Honestly worth paying more and getting the job done right thr first time. If I could rate less than 1 star I would.... I was Customer of theirs. Less than a year ago (30th Jan 2025, a locksmith came called "[Name Removed]" and replaced all locks. Quality was… Read more
insanely poor, installation was shocking.
I needed to request multiple times in the first few months for them to revisit to fix the lock again (needed to be entirely replaced less than a year later which i enxed up doing myself to save myself the pointless arguing with them for assistance to own up to and fix their mistakes).
I had also called to get a copy of the original invoice I paid for their services and was told (they do not have them, they are held by the locksmith themself). Ended up finding the original invoice which was written incorrectly and did not include an invoice number and the company was unable to help me.
Word of advice for people considering using their services.... JUST DON'T
Don't go there – I was locked out of my apartment on a Sunday arvo I was quoted 200.00 over the phone.the guy is late .charges 490.00 for 15 minutes work dogey as I don't know how these people sleep at night. .
Ridiculous – Fake prices. It's not my first Rodeo. $555 to buzz a battery. Do I care ? Nope. But the ACCC will because NDIS has just reported your company for price gauging and I'm leaving the country in a few weeks so none of this is my problem anymore. Evil people exist. Retired Victoria Police - That's who they price gauged. Like I don't know how much it… Read more
costs but I was in a coma on life support and now at home recovering, brain fog. CCTV has your vehicle reg and your images and my security officer has all your details. You can go ahead and refund 50% now to that mobile number PAY ID. Cheers. I heard $350 all up, next minute $555 on a Tuesday at 5pm with a lock that simply requires a battery and my code. Last month it was only $180 from a reputable locksmith. How on earth did you intercept my call and then make me wait for you to call me back ? Its been a ride. Merry Christmas. Theives come in all forms.
Don’t do business with these guys – Never ever use these guys $900 to get through two locks. Cheaper to break window and claim on insurance. Stay away from this business
Buyer Beware – Arrived relatively quickly. Installed the incorrect lock on a sliding screen door. No mention of their warranty terms. Called back to fix and refuse to attend unless I paid another $500. Very expensive! Poor workmanship. Will never use or recommend ever. Surprised they’re in business.
Scammers – This outfit is a scam. Charged me 460 dollars to open my front door on a Sunday. 45 call out. 280 for emergency opening 11 dollar (2% cc fee) 124 after hours fee None of this was disclosed on the phone! The gentleman stood on my front porch and it felt like he was making up the charges on the spot after making me wait 45 minutes for him to turn… Read more
up. It took him precisely 2 minutes to opening my front door and most of this was brute force potentially damaging the lock.
There’s no place to review them on Google reviews. It’s thoroughly deceptive conduct.
Buy a lock box, it’s cheaper. That’s what I’ll be doing now.
I was scammed by M&E locksmith – Approx 2PM on 19 September 2024 at Brookside shopping centre Mitchelton. I've been scammed. I rang RACQ for roadside assistance after locking keys in my car. This 'locksmith' SOMEHOW intercepted that information and showed up at my location, to charge me $450 to open my car. He couldn't open my car door after trying for several minutes. I… Read more
realised I'd been scammed when the *actual* RACQ mechanic arrived and opened my door. Every effort so far to get a refund from "SQ M&E Locksmith Mitchelton Aust." has been a dead-end.
Total scammers. DO NOT use their service – Terrible service and company! I wouldn’t even give one star if there’s a choice. We were locked out of our room in the morning and had to call a locksmith to help get the door open so we could head to work. After explaining our situation through phone call they sent a person quickly but the guy has no idea what the situation is when he arrived. We… Read more
asked if he could get the door opened but he immediately said that he couldn’t get it open without damage and will have to replace the whole door handle without inspecting it first or explain why it is a must to replace. Due to us waking up in that locked out situation worrying we couldn’t get to work in time and after checking their website that states their services will be around $45++, we did not think too much about asking the price first. But before we could agree to changing the lock, he started drilling into the lock and then immediately rips off the whole handle then only saying that it’ll cost $200+ to replace it, on top of the $200 open door fees. After the job’s done he asked for some tips on top of the $125 service fees and $35 call out fees we’re paying. Totalling up to $649 including GST. We did not pay anymore extra as that is a really huge sum of money to us and we really couldn’t afford paying any extra. He was not happy with that and quickly pack things up and go. It was our fault to pay the money on the spot after he insists in the heat of things without asking to receive the invoice from the company first. But when we called to ask for a breakdown of the cost and mentioned that the price on their website does not align with what we were charged, they mentioned that it was just the call out fees shown but it definitely does not seem so. Anyway, we did not manage to get a refund and end up being victims of these scammers.
Conclusion is that they pry on people being helpless and not thinking straight in emergency situations, and proceed with the job without quoting us first and getting our agreement to do the jobs. Hopefully that’s not what all the locksmiths under the company were told to do to all customers needing their door opened. That amount was more than what our rent costs and it’s really devastating to lose all that very hard-earned money. I hope you have a conscience and treat other customers fairly in the future, at least give a clear and final quote to people before doing anything, instead of catching people off guard.
Door bent so badly while getting my keys off front seat – On August 19th I locked my keys on front passenger seat, called a technician who came & not once explained what he would do & got my keys out so I was thrilled & never thought to check the car as I'd used other technicians who never damaged my car, didn't think it was possible. I drive alone to work & back alone & my kids drive so never in my car… Read more
until we went out for fathers day & noticed the door was not closing properly. I called & they are refusing to take responsibility saying I must have done it in the 2 wks after, how could I possibly do that damage! My door closes but where they have clearly forced the top of the door open its bent & no longer closes meaning rain gets in. It is damaged so badly & unsellable. I will be taking this further if I do not get a response
Totally disgusting
Dodgy Locksmith – We had a lock replaced in Brisbane and the barrel fell out of it. We tried to get it fixed and they do not respond.
Terrible service – 4 locks changed at surprisingly high cost at property in Brisbane. One lock changed with incorrect sized barrel. Technician asked owner for payment by bank transfer without issuing invoice. Contacted company seeking invoice. Technician no longer employed by company and no other technicians employed in Brisbane. Invoice has not been received. Very… Read more
