Don’t buy the new model – The new brake system is the worst. it is a wire that it is attached with two opens clips, if this wire gets detached it will get damaged and You will ended with a brand new stroller without brakes, this happened to me with my only 2 weeks old stroller and Maclaren wants me to buy a complete set of wheels to replace this wire ! this is a design problem and it is a serious risk to your baby.

Excellent stroller that goes the distance – Whilst this is a great stroller for newborns onwards, it would be easy for first-time parents to overlook the Techno XLR, given that it isn't as fancy as the plethora of expensive prams currently on the market. We bought ours second-hand from Gumtree and pretty much used it from day dot. On the plus side, the seat can recline completely flat, so… Read more

that babies can lie down and sleep without their legs raised up in the air (as with many pram seats that come in a fixed V shape). The pram has good manoeuvrability, with a tight turning circle, and can be carried up and down strairs, public transport and/or lifted in and out of the car boot with relative ease. It's also easy to set up from the folded position and/or to collapse back down again, with minimal effort required. The compartively large seat size means that it'll well and truly go the distance, right from newborn, up until about the age of three (depending on the size of the child, obviously). Despite these advantages, one minor drawback is that it can take up quite a lot of boot space (although, I imagine most prams do). In addition, the under-seat storage is not great. However, there's no point opting for a stroller like this anyway (as opposed to the aforementioned upmarket prams) if you want to carry heaps of parent/baby gear/shopping under the seat. In fact, it can be a little bit difficult to pull things in and out, as the low seat doesn't really allow for easy access. As a result, it's tempting to hang bags off the handlebars, but the pram will definitely tip if it's too top heavy and/or you take the baby out suddenly without accounting for the extra pull on the handlebars. The straps are fiddly to adjust and need to be completely removed when you want to move them up a notch, to accommodate a growing child. The buckle isn't particularly intuitive either and we've had multiple relatives ring up and ask us how to undo it (when minding our kids) as they didn't realise you have to push the button from the back as well as the front. Accessory-wise, I wouldn't bother with the additional footmuff (we've never used ours). This pram works really well with the likes of the Cozyosko pram sleeping bag, for example. To my understanding, I don't think the design has changed much over time (with the exception of minor updates like reflectors on the wheels). However, if you decide to buy it second-hand, keep in mind that you may need to source accessories like the raincover and safety strap elsewhere - which is what we ended up doing. Overall, this is a sturdy and easy-to-use stroller, which I would highly recommend to anyone who's willing to look past all the hype of the more whiz-bang options currently on the market. It may have a much lower (more reasonable) price tag, but it does the job just as well.

Almost 5 stars – I had a Maclaren Techno XLR Elite for almost 5 years. It is a wonderful stroller!! The seat is nice and wide and high so that even my 6 year old still sat in it comfortably. It's pretty easy to steer and I could maneuver it with one hand if I needed to. It came with both the foot muff and rain cover, which looks and feels very comfy and warm.… Read more

It fully reclines (with one hand), so can be used from birth. It comes with newborn head hugger and I have used this for two of my kids from newborn. You can also get the capsule adapter for it so you can clip on your capsule. These can also stay on when folded.

It lost a star because the basket underneath is not very accessible when the stroller is fully reclined, however I hear the new models have fixed this issue with zips on the side of the basket. it also is a tad on the heavy side but I was still able to push this quite well, with an infant in it and two kids on the buggy board.

Overall, a really great pram that I miss. I purchased this from the USA about 5 years ago when the dollar was parity. So it only cost me AUD $300!!

Amazing Pram – This is truly an amazing pram. I love it so much. I have grown up children and a second family of little ones - we bought the Bugaboo Cameleon and every conceivable extra to go with it - only to sell the entire thing on Ebay nine months later - heavy, cumbersome, impractical and a total pain in the neck and non user friendly. The XLR is almost… Read more ·  1

the perfect pram in my opinion and my parenting extends (gasp) over a 23 year period!!!

It is totally user friendly, easy to manoeuvre, turn, fold, recline to let the child sleep - my 11 month old son will regularly have 2- 2 1/2 hour naps whilst out walking and loves his Maclaren. You can change nappies in it whilst out, it takes up little room in the boot - as opposed to the Boeing 747 proportions of the Bugaboo lol - and is smart, functional and most importantly - sun smart with its fantastic extendable hood.

I really cannot fault this pram other than it'd be nice in the early weeks for you to have bub facing you - but hey - once they can sit up and be a bit more interested in the world - in our case at about 4 months = bub is more then ready to look at the world!!!

Love, love love my Maclaren - so much so (embarassed to admit) that I actually have two - a brand new one and a second hand one still in perfect condition - from Ebay - for travel - does that answer any questions - it is a truly lovely pram and I am its biggest fan.

The Maclaren organiser is money well spent as is the cup holder and I use it every day and it folds with the pram.

Don't waste your money on fashionable travel systems - this is all you will ever need.

The stroller – After quest 0+ (too small) xt bmw (color white was not a happy choice), stokke xplory 5 (too bulky/heavy) bugaboo bee 5 (unstable, poor wheels, seat is too low, uncentered chasis) this is the stroller I came back to. The most comftarable for baby, well padded, large seat, easy to maneuver, easy to fold and the only stroller Ive ever needed. I wasted a lot of money trying to find better stroller but this is my luckiest choice.

Pretty great stroller – One hand pushing. Nice wide seat for older children. Easy to recline when my little one is asleep. Large hood. Liner washes well. Large wheels make for a smooth ride. I love the seatbelt system on this pram. The back pocket is perfect for phone and keys. Only thing I don’t like is when I hang groceries from the handles, I must remove them first to load into the car or otherwise the pram will tip over when I take my little one out.

Perfect shopping partner for busy mothers – As I love going around the shops, this is just perfect! Slim, fits through doors. I used to have the Graco which came with the baby seat, but the baby seat was too heavy so I should have just bought it separately. It shouldn't have really mattered if I woke the baby up taking him out of the car because they should really learn to get used to it I suppose.

But yes it was the best, wow and the wheels moved well for many years! I loved fitting anywhere with it, no more getting in people's way, and it moves fast! Exactly what a busy mother needs, got no time to waste! Easy to store and fold because it's slim and light.

Very Good Quality stroller – I use Maclaren Techno XLR for my daughter from birth to now. She is four and half now (under 20kg). She still love to use it for long trips. The stroller is very comfortable for kids. No any issues. Great value to money. It fits into any car boot. It is a little heavier to lift for me. For small trips, I use the lightest stroller from Kmart.

lot but it's hard to get into.

I wouldn't use this as our everyday pram, I'm not a fan of the upright handles as in all my shortness of 5ft2 I kick the wheels. Yes the handles extend but not enough. I can wheel it with one hand but it's not so easy. So drinking a coffee while pushing requires full concentration.

I'm not a fan of the stroller but will use it for travel purposes only as its easy to fold, takes up less space in the boot and good to have for when you need a baby or child to sleep.

Annoying, not the best stroller – This stroller is annoying. I've had the Quest and Urban Buggie and this stroller out of the 3 is the most difficult to steer. best gift idea – I bought this stroller as a gift to my best friend's first child. We both like it since it opens and closes easily, compact, and seems to be good quality. The cushion definitely gives extra comfort to her child. When it comes to its maneuverability, I'll give it an average though and it's kinda heavy too. But all in all it's a good stroller.

Fabulous pram – I bought the elite techno xlr with the beige insert. It is a fab pram used from birth. It lies horizontal and can be collapsed with one foot and one hand. Best Pram Ever – This pram is a great compromise between a bulky pram and a lightweight pram . It is spacious and one of the few prams on the market that actually could fit an older child. Yes the pram is abit bulky in the boot but if you want a pram that is spacious and suits birth to toddler it needs to be larger in size. I would rather have it larger to fit my baby in when older. Most of the time I use it when im walking from home not taking it in and out of the boot.

The seat reclines flat with the 1 handed reclining mechanism and the pram comes with the rain cover, liner , footmuff and headrest. Excellent value for money . Some would say its expensive but this pram suits from birth to toddler and its far nicer to push than any of the cheap umbrella strollers. Its the only pram you need to buy.

The wheels arent all terrain but the pram suits most surfaces and i take it on long walks with no issues.Yes a 3 wheeler would glide over grass and bumpy surfaces better but they arent always practical. If you dont go on alot of walks with rough terrain this is alright. Most people walk on the footpath anyway.

The customer service from maclaren is high class and i would reccomend anyone buy a Maclaren. Good quality, good product and good after sales service. Extendable hood, Extendable handles, light weight , Spacious, One handed Recline Not a huge issue but the Peak a boo window could have a cover over it .

Added Bonus of the One Hand Recline!! (only with the XLR)

I bought the Maclaren organiser as an extra, two drink holders, with mesh pocket for goodies. I often don't carry a bag when using this, and you can strap it on to trolleys. In my opinion It's worth the $50 extra.

I also bought a sun shade from the US at [url removed] custom made to fit on Maclaren's.

One last thing, I didn't buy the bassinet, no need.

The pram folds and opens very easily as well. We have purchased the adaptor bar so our baby capsule (Safe and Sound unity) fits in it. My baby is now 4 months old and it's good to be able to have her facing me when I'm pushing the pram (while she's in the capsule). At least when she outgrows the capsule, she's a bit older and then she can face out without any issues.

The hood extends and covers baby very well - this was very importantly especially since she is a summer baby, in the hot months. I agree with other reviews, there is little space in the basket below the pram in the recline position but I find even if I had it upright, there's not enough room to do the groceries with baby! Very light weight, folds easily, sturdy Not as stylish looking as some other prams I suppose!

a bad word to say about them.

Easy to push/move about. Don't even need to grip the handles to do so. Adjustable handle height makes it great for people of different heights. The hood is awesome and with the undoing of a zip can extend further forward giving excellent coverage.

I am using this for my 2 year old and my almost 5 year still fits in it too. Easy to fold, takes up less room in the boot. Can be used from newborn. Goes up to 20kg. There are other Maclarens out there, but they have lower weight limits. I figure if you want a stroller you may as well go for something that will take you through until you no longer need a pram/stroller for your child. Everything - extendable handles, extendable hood, easy to manouvre (even with one hand), extra pockets are handy for keys and sunglasses, looks great, lightweight, wide seat
