Worst decision of our lives – It cost us $8k to have 4.5 kW solar installed which is 16 panels. It will cut your bills in half the said. We were offered and accepted a 12 month interest free credit card with the promise that our bills would be halved. Bills doubled from day 1 and with the panels mounted on the west, not the north we only get half a day of generation. Ripped off. Show details

Great service, from planning to execution – Thanks Mark Group. All of my contacts with you were great - your sales guy visited twice - knew all the answers (I wish I could remember his name) and was genuine and we felt good choosing Mark. Lee Curruthers was helpful both before and after installation - found an overpayment and followed through to get that rectified. We contacted the consultant & the Mark Group several times to no avail & then out of the blue about 4 months later we got a call to get our bank details for the refund & told that it would only take a couple days to appear in our account. Well that was a load of crap because it never happened & still to this day, about 2 years later it still hasnt happened. Now when anyone calls or approaches us about solar, I just want to punch them in the face!

quality assurance processes that could have picked that up at the time). It's incredibly difficult to get someone from Mark Group to answer the phone or return a call, and 3 months later after they admitted the faulty installation we're still trying to get someone to come and fix their mistake. Not good enough!! I'm going to have to report them to Office of Fair Trading. Save yourself the heartache and purchase from another company

Would give Zero Stars if it let me – Worked great for the first 12months then the inverter starting maxing out and shutting down and only producing half of what it had been doing. Numerous unreturned calls and emails and then finally seemed to have someone call me back who knew what they were talking about. away and never turned up a call would have been nice considering I took a day off work to wait around the house as they couldn't give a rough time frame even morning or afternoon would have been appreciated. Then arranged for another tech to attend he didn't turn up either and again no call to advise me. Then came a couple of days later unannounced. Tech isolated the inverter and showed there was sufficient energy being produced from the panels so no problem there. He also noticed that the inverter was maxing out and then not producing much power and said he will report to Mark Group and they will decide. That was 2 weeks ago and still nothing from Mark Group. I just want the inverter replaced as it is clearly not working properly but fat chance of that happening when they wont even return a phone call.... I would recommend staying well clear of these guys and instead go with a local company with local support.

the appearance of one of the panels, and was told I could get it removed and a refund paid for it. I appreciated the offer, and took them up on it. Luckily, I got this in writing. Then, the electrician installed the wrong type of isolator, and SA Power Networks charged me $173,80 for a wasted connected visit to fit the new meter. I was assured by the Mark Group customer rep (who by now was a different person from the original one I'd dealt with - he had left the company) that I wouldn't pay that charge, although I got mixed messages about that later on. The isolator did get fixed, after I'd chased the customer rep for a while, and the final connection made. Then, a month later I got a reminder invoice from SA Power Network about the wasted connection visit - it appeared Mark Group were happy to pass the buck to me on that one. By then, the second bloke had left the company as well, and there was no customer rep in SA.

After this, I went through a months-long charade of chasing them via phone calls, emails, online feedback and finally a letter via registered mail and a complaint to Consumer Services, to get the money owed me. They just don't seem to care how much they enrage their customers by not responding; they say all the right things like "your call is important to us" in their phone messages, but they seem to think they can just ignore you and you will go away.

I also remembered later that I'd been told that I would be given access to free solar analytics to monitor the performance of my panels, as I was concerned about how I'd know if anything went wrong. Silly me, I didn't get that in writing, and so I am now worried about how I'm going to monitor the system. My first electricity bill with the panels has been higher than I'd thought it would be, but it's hard to know. The calculations done by the sales guy and the contract I signed were never left with me, so I have nothing to check it against.

I feel I made a big mistake in using this company, and it has made me very wary of trusting friendly and knowledgeable-seeming sales people again.

No Stars would be my choice – I had a Rooftop Solar System installed by Mark Group. It came with an Inverter supplied by Samil Power. The Inverter failed and was replaced by the German Company which at the time was organising warranty claims. They were ideal to deal with. Inverter failed 8 weeks ago and despite over 20 Emails and phone calls they will not co operate with a replacement. Not only were they not interested in my complaint, the person I dealt with was being very obstructive would not agree to honour the warranty. The Inverter had a 5 year full warranty and either the phone calls or emails were not answered or I was just fobbed off. I am not too confident that the Mark Group who installed the system are being truthful in their complicity with this matter. I will at the moment, defer my decision on whether they are protecting Samil Power. The internet has many complaints against this Company and I warn anyone that wishes to install Solar Power to refuse a Samil Power Inverter. You surely will finish up with the problems I am enduring. Today, I lodged a complaint with the Department of Fair Trading. I just wonder what they will do.

is now already passed Australia day and I am still waiting. I was told the installation will take a half a day. I took them 4 days. Broke roof tiles. Lucky for me the contractor who they used did came back and replaced the tiles but I still had to go and find them which is an added cost to me. I was told as soon as the contractor give them the sign off they will send someone the next day to connect the system and that he is not busy. Well that was 2 week ago. I just got my next electricity bill over $1000 dollars. This is great Mark group. I got solar on my roof out of pocket $11000 and still get huge electricity bills. And forget about getting them on the phone or if you choose the sale option and get someone they never return any calls. Just home that one day when it's connected I do not have warranty problems.

I also requested that conduits from one level to another be placed to one side of the wall, so it's not easily seen. but that was ignored and it was placed right in the middle where is was obvious.

i dealt with the installer directly (after the install manager forward my complaint to them) it will cost me an extra $200 to get the conduit re-route.

Advise: don't pay in full up-front and talk to the installer before they proceed with work. AND GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY.

I have been trying to contact the Mark Group since the beginning of January, I have left voice messages, I have left messages with customer service with the promise a priority email would be sent to the customer support manager and either Michael or Anthony would get back to me. NOTHING. I am beside myself. I spent just under $10,000 of my hard earned savings with this company. They were more than happy to take my money, but as for after sales support, it seems to be nonexistent. I am a divorced mum of 4 young children, I thought I was doing the right thing by "investing" in making our home energy efficient. To say I am Devestated is an understatement. I don't have the income to cover increased electricity bills, I'm sick to my stomach with worry and I don't know what to do. If you are considering purchasing solar through this company, please be careful. I wish I had checked this site before making a decision. Needless to say I probably would have purchased elsewhere.

Great Company to deal with – We had a 5Kw system installed by The Mark Group's Melbourne office in February 2013. Now coming up to 3 years of operation and it has been faultless. They were the only company to send a rep to our home when we 1st inquired. He gave us some great advice ( i.e. make sure your roof is in good condition before any work starts. repair company come and restore it. They found a heap of cracked tiles.) and also put us in touch with Diamond Energy, who offer a good deal for supply of power to those with Solar Systems. The work crew arrived on time the day that the Mark office said they would and the work was completed in 1/2 a day. The work standard was 1st class. Mark also did all the paperwork for us and arranged for an engineer from our local Electricity Supplier to inspect the installation, sign the permits and activate the system. 10 days later the supply company reprogrammed our smart meter to recognise that we had a PV system ( $ 120 one off charge on our next bill) and we have enjoyed considerable savings since. I have kept all our power invoices since we went Solar and they are always within a few cents of each other for each quarter.

promised, a huge stuff up with paperwork (partly the energy company's fault) meant I missed out on a higher tariff. No help from Mark Group people.

The insulation install was done by the dodgiest tradies I've ever seen, terrible job done and NONE of the downlight shields installed.

I have emailed and called the sales guy numerous times about all this with just more promises of 'I'll speak directly with the ceo, etc. etc. crap, crap. Never calls back and now this guy is apparently the state manager in SA?!

I would NEVER recommend this company.

If I could have rated them zero stars I would have.

get a different story. They do not seem to have a record of conversations with the client. If I were them I would be telephoning Samil every day. None in stock supply me with another brand or a higher rated unit.

They also claim that if they remove the inverter and replace it then the warranty is void. I don't think so. They have a report of the failure tested so it is a no brainer to replace the unit to keep the customer happy and their reputation intact.

spoke to (Receptionist who sent me the process on changing the smart meters). Every response, communication and information I ever got from Mark Group has been professional and courteous. We used to pay $350 per 3 months on electricity but since installing the system, we have only paid $275 in the 5 full bills.

I would recommend Mark Group (already have) to anyone in a heartbeat.

who explained the whole process leading to getting it put on our roof and everything went very smoothly. They were a bit more than my other 2 quotes but the quality and service have been well worth it! Recieved a power bill last week for $657 down from $1231 our previous bill.

Would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking at doing this.

so after much thought we went with our initial opinion of them being the right people to trust for our solar panels. I must say it was a refreshing experience to deal with such a professional company, everyone we spoke with from Mark Group were very helpful and our panels went up as promised without a hitch.

Inverter readout is above what the salesperson told me to expect so really looking forward to our next bill.
