Matador Titan 900 series after 5 years – Great BBQ, only 1 or 2 negatives, the rear burner is no good and I need to replace it, it is difficult to clean the fat tray. That being said great bbq for the dollar you pay. Show details
Major fault and fire hazard. Company never bother to contact customers – Bought a bbq. 1st time we used it, the whole bbq lit on fire. The fire has done significant damage to the bbq. Attempted to contact the retailer we purchased from and were told to we had to contact Matador direct. After waiting for more than a year for them to respond to me, we have still heard nothing. Matador never bothered contacting us. I… Read more
would never buy from this company again. This is a major fault and the product cannot be used to to a fire hazard. Warranty means nothing to this company. Would be very cautious if buying this brand.
- +1
This is such an amazing outdoor kitchen, completely changed how we cook – The Titan Outdoor Kitchen is so much more than just a hooded barbeque. It has 6 burners and a rotisserie element. The sear burner is great for cooking the perfect steak. The cabinets are strong and well designed with soft close doors and drawers. The stone bench top is both attractive and easy to clean and the sink makes clean up so easy, no need… Read more
to take everything back into the house. Since purchasing 2 months ago we have done rotisserie roast chickens, slow cooked beef brisket (the large viewing window makes checking on the progress without loosing heat a real bonus), racks of ribs and whole fish. The LED temperature indicators on the burner controls make it easy to see what temperature you have set even in dull light and the LED lights in the hood are brilliant. There's even 2 USB ports in the front cabinet to charge you phone or run a wireless speaker like I do. It really does have everything you need for outdoor cooking.
Matador junk – It cooks sausage and steaks so it’s not a complete waste of money. Build quality is terrible with paint peeling off after less than 18 months. Both side plates and front fascia were replaced by Garth, the supplier company, after the most long drawn out process I’ve ever been involved with. Important point is only parts were supplied, no labour.… Read more
Imagine a world where your car, under warranty, has an issue with build quality and Toyota supply you with replacement parts and a manual to fix it yourself. Sear station mesh burnt through after a couple of uses and the grill above cracked. Matador says the sear grill gets hot!! Wise words indeed. Do yourself a favour and never buy any matador products unless you’re happy to drag them into the street at the next council clean up. (Maybe Matador will supply a manual on how to do that)
Safety hazard – I bought my first one a little over a year ago as I decided it would be great for my partners birthday. I turned all burners on at which it got extremely hot extremely quick so I turned all to the lowest heat. I put my sausage and rissoles on and they were cooking pretty good not long after the oil had dropped through the grill onto the burners… Read more
causing a fire which damaged the electrical features on the bbq. Everyone was shock. A few of days later I went back to Bunnings and they replaced the bbq for me claiming that it should not have caught a light. Couple of months had past and I really wanted to have a bbq again at which I went to Bunnings and asked what to do to prevent it at which they said to buy additional solid plates to prevent fat dripping on the burners so we did so and just like before it caught on fire again we suffocated the flames kitty litter. We went back to Bunnings to request a refund at which they said to get in touch with matador bbqs to arrange a refund. After contacting matador we were told solid plates void the warranty at which I ask why did the bbq catch a light with grill plates on it. They responded with they don’t cover fat fires. This produce is just a fire hazard.
It cooks food really well. But the bbq doesnt last – Everything i cook on this bbq just tastes soo good. If you get chicken thigh fillets with just some oil, salt, pepper and garlic it will taste awesome. Never had a bbq that you can cook so well and make it taste so nice. However as the other comments have said, it breaks down after 2 years. The burners are connected by a thin bit of metal and that… Read more
corrodes away arounds the 2 year mark. There is nothing you can do to prevent this. My bbq was stored under a pergola and used once a week. Great bbq but it will not last.
Knobs melted off, draw rails broke – Bought the full outdoor kitchen for a new house we built in 2020. The drawer runners broke on installation and we had to order new drawer runners at a cost of $55. On the weekend, about 18 months after purchase, the bbq was turned on to preheat. The sticker on the bbq says not to have more than 2 burners on “high” when cooking with the lid closed,… Read more
so the bbq was preheated with 6 burners all on low and the knobs and bezels all melted and fell off after 10 mins. The wind was blowing from the back of the bbq so we thought this might have contributed. Rang Bunnings to purchase replacement knobs and got quoted $330 for new knobs. A $3000 bbq that is now useless because I will not be held to ransom by this horrible company.

Cool bbq – Cooks every thing as it should, great setup yet to use the ice bucket. Good cooking area as well, the window is quite cool allowing me to see the cooking rather than opening the lid every few minutes Show details
Just one thing - On Warranty – The Matador Titan 6 was purchased from Bunnings as a Special Order; so not available in the shop. It apparently came directly from the warehouse. Paid the $185.00 for assembly, which is well worthwhile. The BBQ looks solid and well made. The eight knobs and two rear lights are supposed to light up. Here was the problem. They did not work. … Read more · 1
So, options are (1) Take it back to Bunnings at your risk and cost (not sure just what happens then);or (2) Contact the Claims people, Garth Support. Garth seem to be in Melbourne. The BBQ is in Queensland. Bunnings sent them a message asking for someone to make a call and check the problem. Well, Garth do not offer service calls. They provide advice by telephone and/or email, and send out spare parts. The rest - diagnosis and repair - is up to you my friend,. Totally DIY. The problem was rectified without too much drama, apart from pulling out, checking, and reinstalling most of the wiring, connections, transformer and switch. All's well that end well. And the lady at Garth was always ready to assist. BUT I can see circumstances where this approach could lead to much frustration. And for some, with no clue where to start, doubly so. Now it may be that this approach applies to all makes of BBQ. I do not know. Just saying what happened to us.
So far as using the BBQ, that test is still to come. Happie Daze.
19-9-21. The cook test has now been undertaken. The sear burner is great for a rib filet steak; a couple of minutes each side of that's it. For those who want their steak well done, throw it on the normal burner after the sear burner.
Now, the spit roast. You will need the rotisserie of course. Remember, with a pork loin, unwrap, score and put in the fridge for two or three days to dry out the skin. Then, just before cooking, oil and salt the meat. This was the first try, so a bit of experimentation was required. First, hood down, and heat up for ten minutes or so - to 250. I left on the rear burner (which is brilliant) and one burner, under the plate, for the roast vegetables. Meat onto rotisserie skewer, and away it went. Watch the temperature. The BBQ could I think reach a very high temperature (and maybe cause damage). The crackling was ready in 15-20 minutes. After that a lower temperature was fine - maybe 175-200. The pork was perfect. The vegetables a bit burnt, so next time I will cut them into larger sizes, or remove them earlier. All in all, for a first attempt, the BBQ did a great job.
Oh, and one more thing - place a tray under the meat to catch the fat.
Doesn't last long... disappointing – We bought this BBQ 2 years ago, it gets used ALOT. Undercover and well looked after. Yes it was a nightmare to assemble. We have already had to replace both girls as they have rusted through to the point you can't use them. The sear burner is also rusted and falling apart. We unfortunately got rid of our old Matador 4 burner with Granite side benches and thought we were updating, very regretful now, definitely not worth the money. Show details
Self Cleaning Hood -- WRONG! – Just be wary that Matador advertise/promote that Titan has a Self Cleaning Hood - IT DOES NOT. Following the instructions (put burners on low for 15 minutes) and now need to muck around cleaning the hood. Nope ... that will not work --- even tried burners on High - still does not do anything. After a query to Garth, I got this response .... "For… Read more
self-cleaning hood, please turn on 2 burners on low for 15 minutes and wipe the hood to remove any grease/fat". Replied back .... "So the "Self Cleaning Hood" is not self cleaning as I have to clean it" I got this back.... "That is right"
So contacted Matador themselves, 5 emails and they just plainly do not reply - worst Customer Service team at Matador.
Very disappointed – I saved my Bunnings vouchers up to purchase this bbq over 2yrs and was really excited to set my bbq up. The BBQ cooks as i would like however after just 6 months I now have issues with the lighting the bbq on the Grill side and the button that turns on the lights inside and also the for all the knobs on the bbq is broken. Contact Bunnings who… Read more
refer to Matador etc and the rigmarole that you have to go through is crazy. This is a built in BBQ and in order for me to provide all details i need to uninstall the BBQ to get serial numbers etc required. It really shouldn’t be that hard and purchasing another Matador product in future will not be on the agenda.

Happy with my purchase and makes entertaining more enjoyable – This was my first new barbeque, ever! I had always received hand-me-downs and I couldn’t be happier. It’s been regularly used over the past two years and remains as good as new. I’ve used this for the weekend barbeque as well as more lavish events such as Christmas where its’ been used with a rotisserie to cook a few chickens, pork and roast… Read more
vegies all at the same time. It’s easy to clean after each use and to do a more thorough cleaning once or twice a year. At the same time as buying this barbeque I also bought the matching cover. It’s easy to put on and take off by yourself, is made of a heavyweight vinyl and fits like a glove. If I had one negative to say, it’s that even with the burners on low, it gets quite hot, good for searing meat, however if cooking something that doesn’t require so much heat you have to learn how to manage this by using less burners. Assembly did take some time, but managed in a few hours, go slow and read the documentation.
Ours rusted away in 18 months – Very disappointed we used one summer and cleaned it after each use stored undercover with a cover on it, 18 months on all four burners rusted through and other parts not sure what they're called, drip tray rust through and evidence of rust on external parts as well, we contacted bunnings they told us to contact the distributor company called… Read more
(Garth), they asked for photos then said because we live on the water this will happen? Don't know where they got the water part from as there in Melbourne and we are in the suburbs of Brisbane nowhere near the water apart from our pool, they agreed to replace the parts under warranty as goodwill! but a couple of the parts they said at first we would have to have made by a sheet metal worker??? as they no longer have them? 18 months old? after saying that was not satisfactory they located the parts but then we have to get them pot riveted on! after doing all that and replacing everything we sold the BBQ for next nothing as it would have just all rusted away again they are absolutely rubbish even the Bunnings staff member said they don't have a good reputation and Bunnings had told the distributor to lift their game or Bunnings would drop there line of BBQs from sale. That's what we were told anyway, Have bought a Webber BBQ and very happy with the results and Webber has the best after-sale service no matter how old if something breaks they will send out a free replacement outstanding service.
So far, so good, but assembly is a awkward – This is really well designed and when assembled it feels like a quality product. But assembling it is awkward and I'm pretty handy at all sorts of mechanical jobs. The black screws and washers are difficult to see when fitting them while building the trolley and the screws and holes are difficult to align unless you leave them all loose. … Read more
Truly.... don't tighten the screws for walls, back and top of the trolley until they're all in place. Only then does everything align and pull into place. Tightening 'as you go' makes it difficult/impossible to align the other panels so just tighten them at the end of trolley assembly.
Likewise when fitting the side boxes to the bbq itself, leave the hooks slightly loose. Then once the boxes are in place and the 40 mm long screws have been fitted, tighten them all.
The instructions are only pictorial and not too bad although it took a while to work how the fat catcher fitted into the front of the cooking area (especially since it was supposed to be held by screws but there were no holes in it and none in the bbq either - I guess they deleted them from the unit but not from the manual).
Overall it's not too bad but it takes around 4 hours to sort the parts and assemble it.
Update after first use..... I'm impressed. It heats and cooks evenly, there's no creaking or banging as the metal expands and contracts. I've used the optional rotisserie with the radiant rear burner and it did a great job.
So much better than expected – we normally but our bbq's from a name brand bbq shop, but this time decided to give the Matador a go ( after out last expensive bbq failed again)..it is so much better than we anticipated, the fat draining system is so much better than some of its competitors and is easy to use and clean..i also now use the bbq clean wipes and the plates and bbq… Read more
itself is staying clean very easily . it is solid with plenty of room to cook with nice big plates. Would highly recommend and buy again if the need ever arose .
Flat pack is a nightmare!! :( – Bunnings said 1 hour assemble. It was more like 3 or 4 hours, things didn't line up, nuts wouldn't thread, the instructions were vague and didn't make sense with little dialogue explaining the process. I would recommend via Bunnings to get one of those guys who assemble for you. My brain was sore after the effort. Once we fired it up it was fine, but a long winded process. Show details
Good BBQ with plenty of heat – The BBQ has a unique fat draining system with curved channels in the grill plate as well as the grill and hot plate tilted to the front to a channel that collects the fat at the side. Put some fat soak in the container. It is amazing how much fat accumulates. Good heat from the BBQ with all burners on. Easy to adjust heat down if needed. Show details
My husband has never been so happy – My husband got one of these last year for his birthday and has been grilling ever since. It was a nightmare to assemble and took the better part of 2 days for him to set it up just right, but once done he has been happy. It tends to run a little hot so we cook everything on low. Love cooking on this bbq! – After replacing a new gassmate bbq that was useless with the matador titan i couldn't be happier. Grill works great with ceramic tile diffusers, haven't used hotplate side alot, but heat distribution is pretty good. Front is slightly cooler than the rest but still usable unlike the gassmate bbq! Also used a couple of times as an enclosed oven for… Read more
roast and pizzas. Works great, heats up quick and can get very hot if not careful! Only real disappointment is the warming rack. Its very deep-which could be a good thing- but makes it difficult to access food cooking from middle off plate/grill to the back. Fairly easy to remove so if its not Really needed i remove it.
What all should aspire to – After much research and reviewing , I bought this from Bunnings and could not be happier. :) Although not cheap at $1190.00 I think its money well spent. Its fast to heat up and retains heat extremely well, due to double skin SS lid and being able to see how the food is cooking thru the glass window saves a lot of heat loss. The burners and… Read more · 1
grill plates are cast iron, and above which there are ceramic tiles which I think aid in heating performance.
Its well built weighing in roughly 90kg, It has castors but personally it wouldn't being something I would want to move around much..
As I like good charring marks on my food it has not let me down.
Happy cooking to all
Good BBQ – I bought an obsolete Titan 6 BBQ and a heavily reduced price and it was assembled so all I needed to do was to connect a gas bottle. The lid has a see through section so you can check on cooking progress and the lid feels solid and not flimsy. The gas burners work well, cooking food effectively. Handy drawer to store utensils and plenty of space… Read more
underneath next to gas bottle to store a spare bottle. Mine came with two solid plates and one grill. Very happy with the purchase so far.
