Notice to Reviewers: As of May 2020, Matt Blatt has been acquired by Kogan. Throughout this process, there is a new take on the infrastructure in place, new staff, new support and new products being offered.
Nice product, terrible packaging – Deeply disappointing to find an expensive product bought in large part for its apparent quality and natural timber construction wrapped in masses of polystyrene. Why not use decent, environmentally responsible recyclable packaging?
Took over 6wks to receive a usable table and damaged property during delivery – The first delivery of our table was overdue the promised date made in store, as apparently, they were exceptionally busy. This first table was damaged. I discussed this with staff in store and they offered to organise a replacement. It took twice as long to deliver a replacement (and a few emails and calls). During this delivery the delivery men damaged property. The second table was also damaged! Informed MattBlatt immediately concerning both issues. It took a further two weeks for the next table to arrive.
Re the damage, it took MattBlatt 5weeks to send me a short emailing explaining that when I "signed for the drivers being there on the collection of the order you signed expecting that the drivers take no responsibility to any property damage". An interesting situation: either I don't sign, don't receive the furniture I've paid for and own and am left with damage to my property that takes five weeks to reply about. Or I sign to keep my furniture and am also left with damaged property that MattBlatt are not interested in pursuing further with the delivery contractor. (Please be aware, there was no doubt or debate regarding damage, it was witnessed by 2 people, discussed with the delivery men at the time, photographs taken etc, etc)
Poor quality furniture and terrible service – I purchased a coffee table at the Balgowlah store and when collecting the table and getting it out of the packaging, I noticed several scratches on the surface so returned it to the store. They ordered another one from the warehouse which arrived a full week later. I checked it in store and again it was damaged goods. At this point I asked for a refund and was convinced to give it one more try. So, one more week goes by and I go to the store to collect and yes, it was also damaged goods. I was now convinced that Matt Blatt furniture is of very poor quality so insisted on a refund, to which I was told that they would get customer service to call me that day to organize this. Well no call received or the next, so I call the store to which they tell me that they could have done this in the store but can't over the phone. So, I'll be making my 6th trip to the store to get my refund today. What a joke of a business.
