Contacted Maurice Blackburn lawyers last year, it was a medical negligent against St. Vincent's Hospital. The girl was young. She asked for certain documents to be sent, did that. After a few months I heard nothing, I called and was informed she had left. Nothing has been heard from them. Henry Carus is the same, they did get back to me and said… Read more
they could not help. So much for their catch phrase" You deserve more" I believe that it was because it was not a big enough case for them, because it would never have gone to court. Disgusted with the Medical & Legal sector, it's just not right.
I am stuck in the middle of court proceedings for historical abuse without representation as my previous law firm was negligible and mishandled my case and after signing paperwork and waiting days for them to respond they said they were unable to represent me and would not give a reason. A law firm has already evaluated my case and the fact it's… Read more
been taken tocourtsays there's a good chamce of a great outcome so it's notabout whether the case is a winning case and i don't know any other reason for the rejection except the fact that i asked there to be no mistakes made and i wanted to start a case against my previous legal team for professional negligence. My mental health is at an all time low and i have no end to my trauma in sight and they refused to help me. I do not recommend this firm as i believe they have no confidence in their abilities since there's evidence as far back as 1986 confirming abuse within my household with no action taken by docs to save us from the abuse along with documented information on the time i was assaulted by a olice officer and a professional child trauma psychologist confirming the accounts of my sexual abuse in custody the case is already won so i don't see the hesitation to take it as a good thing since theres firms who have won with less proof than i have 1986 there would have been loads of reports from then til we were able to leave home.

I paid $700 for a one-hour consultation regarding a complex employment matter. of the consultation, I felt discouraged rather than supported. The experience left me so disheartened that I was in tears when I left the meeting. Fortunately, I have legal professionals in my network who helped me find alternative representation. I ultimately connected with a genuine expert in employment law who immediately understood the complexity of my situation and recognized the strength of my unfair dismissal case after nine years of dedicated work. This lawyer provided full support on a no-win, no-fee basis. I essentially wasted $700 with Maurice Blackburn, as my case appeared too complex for their level of expertise or interest.

I contacted Maurice Blackburn seeking urgent legal help after being taken advantage of by my current lawyers (Shine Lawyers). As someone with ADHD and autism, I explained that Shine was pushing for a settlement I do not consent to, despite the fact that they excluded key evidence, witnesses, and agencies central to my abuse case. I made it clear I… Read more
was seeking protection and advocacy — not more silence.
But what I got from Maurice Blackburn was a waste of time, confusion, and ultimately, silence.

My Experience: • I spent most of a 28-minute call on hold as the paralegal read through my detailed emails. • I was told they would call me back within 3–5 business days after reviewing the situation further. • Then — late at night — I received an email saying my message failed to send… even though they already acknowledged receiving and reading it during the call.
It felt like a cheap excuse to make it seem like they never got my emails, just in case they didn’t want to respond or take my case. I know they read them — I was on hold while they did.
Adding this in as I know this will be your response Hey Ostara , we're sorry to hear you've had a disappointing experience. We'd like to follow up on this for you. Could you please reach out to support@mauriceblackburn.com.au with more information? As it’ll save you time.

I switched to Maurice Blackburn lawyers very late in the process with my Impairment Benefits claim for workcover. process. When I then had to go to Medical Panel Ross submitted information to expediate the process and helped me to make clear and informed decisions on the next available steps. Ross has been reassuring and supportive in what was an extremely stressful time. He always responds to emails or phone messages almost immediately and shows genuine interest and concern with the case. I am so relieved to have finally completed this process - which took almost 2 years due to worksafe delays. The final outcome was much better than initially suggested, and I believe this is due to the diligence that Ross had when working on the case. Ross's reassurance and compassion during the last couple of months has made things seem much less complicated and I am very grateful for this. I would recommend his services to anyone who asked.
I would like to thank Dimi for his support and dedication. Great communication at all times. The outcome of the case was great more than I expected thank you I would recommend you to anyone that needs help thanks again. Show reply

Absolutely pathetic , first claim was on my superannuation, supposed to have money released at 5-7 days, day 19 I called my superannuation and got it sorted out, they lied and said there was a priority on it , they didn’t even make a phone call to my superannuation for $6000 ripped off on that one big time!! nothing of me going for an assessment, no paperwork organised , finally got my money , they took $8250 quick smart , no further communication from them for 7 weeks , I call them about how my common law claim was progressing, no call just an email with a questionnaire, so I’ve sacked them and will never deal with them again. Very happy with my new lawyers handling my common law , professional, communicate well and doing as they promised. Do your research and don’t deal with these muppets !
AND Maurice Blackburn, before you put your pathetic reply about being sorry and email you so you can look into it ( like you do with every other complaint ) why would I waste time doing that when you can’t even communicate when you’re robbing me of $14,000 , clowns !

I didn't want to write this negative review because they have such high ratings, but, I contacted M & B and it was a total waste of time and money that I did. them back.
For context, I am on a disability pension and use a pay as you go plan for my phone, because it's cheaper in the long run since I don't usually make calls. I was on hold for almost 10 minutes which is understandable, but I was afraid that I'd be on hold then get an unhelpful phone call which would then be a waste of time and money.
And lo and behold it was.
I've spoken to other lawyers before where they contact you (and get you to call them back) to "discuss" your case, only for the conversation because they can't help. That's what happened here.
After I was connected to a human, it was a receptionist of some sort who has not read my email, and asked me to RE-EXPLAIN the situation and ask what it is I need help with, which is a total waste of time. I told her if you had read my email, it would have been more clear (since there was a link in the email to a news article) and I have specified that I do not KNOW what it is I need help with since I am not sure what legal area it would fall under.
So I wasted time re-explaining the situation, then waiting for the receptionist to go speak to whoever she needs to, then to come back and tell me that they can't help but can refer me to a bunch of places I have already exhausted like the NSW Law Society and the Financial Rights Legal Centre.
So basically I spent over 20 minutes simply re-doing what I already did (contacting them with details of what I want help for), except in a non-free way. If there is one thing I hate, it's repeating myself. You might think the cost of a phone call is negligible, but if you try and pay for a $1.00 item with 99 cents, they won't sell it to you. Every cent counts and the call costs what that usually lasts me several months. Plus, it's the principle that matters. You could have just read my email and if you knew you couldn't help, you could have spent 2 minutes instead of 20+ minutes of my time to send an email telling me you can't help, instead of baiting me, getting me to call you back, promising the world, and then telling me no. The on-hold message at M&B says they are there for you and they cover a range of issues and really made it sound like they can help, it's designed to draw you in with hope. I figured since I was on the phone already, I asked about another separate issue and they also couldn't help. For transparency, both issues were related to finance. And M&B is supposed to be a large national firm.
All lawyers are the same.

The automated message said they offer no win, no fee for most services, so I booked an in-person appointment and paid $690. “Maurice Blackburn – Deceptive Advertising, Zero Accountability, and Institutional Arrogance” Date of Incident: 6 August 2025 Consumer Warning: Maurice Blackburn Lawyers knowingly broadcast deceptive advertising across major Australian media networks and have failed to respond to formal complaints, FOI requests, and court-notified allegations of… Read more
misconduct.
On 6 August 2025, I issued a direct, formal demand to Maurice Blackburn Lawyers following months of unanswered complaints, regulatory deflection, and advertising deception involving their Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance campaigns aired on Channel 7 and other major media networks.
Their ads mislead vulnerable Australians — especially those injured, traumatised, or medically unfit — into believing they can get compensation “risk free” with phrases like “no win, no fee”, while failing to disclose the full costs, backdoor agreements with insurers, or refusals to take cases that don’t guarantee profit.
On 6 August, they ignored a final settlement or disclosure notice. This was not just rude — it was a clear, calculated breach of public trust, and possibly misleading or deceptive conduct under Section 18 of the Australian Consumer Law.
This firm is not acting in the public interest. They are acting to protect institutional power, conceal systemic insurance failures, and monetise people's trauma while claiming moral superiority through advertising.
I personally have lodged multiple complaints to:
ACCC (Advertising deception and contract misrepresentation)
Ad Standards (Ethical breach of marketing guidelines)
ASIC (Regulatory concealment of insurance-related fraud)
ACMA (Broadcast content standards violation)
Supreme Court of Victoria (pending tort and injunction proceedings)
Maurice Blackburn has failed to respond meaningfully to any of these channels. Not only do they not defend themselves — they hide, stonewall, and hope consumers give up.
This review is published as part of an ongoing campaign to expose deceptive legal advertising, hold bad actors accountable, and prevent other families from being dragged into emotional and financial distress by a firm that pretends to fight for the people while doing deals behind closed doors.
⚠️ If you’ve been misled by a TPD ad from Maurice Blackburn, or denied proper legal assistance after reaching out to them, I urge you to file complaints with ACCC, ASIC, and the Supreme Court.
Documentation of all FOI requests, regulatory filings, and non-responses is being archived and publicly released.

They strung me along for the last 2 years telling me I have a medical negligence case, only for my time to run out, so they charged me a hefty court fee to extend my time only to find out I never had a case from the beginning according to their 'specialist'. I am out of pocket nearly $4000 and all they did for me is compile my medical records.. No win, no Fee means something different to these guys, simply a marketing scam..

“Deceptive, Unreachable, and Institutionally Protected – Avoid at All Costs” If I could give zero stars, I would. accountability is required, and hide behind red tape when their misconduct is exposed.
My experience? After being misled by deceptive TPD ads aired on Channel 7, I engaged them in good faith. What followed was months of silence, no meaningful legal assistance, and outright refusal to answer key questions. I later discovered they were referred multiple times to ASIC, ACMA, IBAC, AFCA, and the Legal Services Board — and none of them acted. Why? Because they’re part of a protection loop designed to shield firms like Maurice Blackburn from public liability.
Maurice Blackburn:
Fails to communicate once your case is too hard.
Breaches fiduciary duties while hiding behind slogans.
Collaborates with media to spin a fake "justice for the people" image.
Contributes to institutional suppression of ordinary people’s rights while profiting from it.
If you’re thinking of trusting them with your story or your trauma, don’t. They are not your legal allies. They are gatekeepers — collecting cases to silence them, not fight them.
They now face civil tort and injunction proceedings in the Supreme Court, named in multi-agency complaints and public ScrollWitness audits for:
Misleading conduct under the ACL
Advertising fraud
Breach of public trust
Collusion with media outlets
If you’ve been harmed by Maurice Blackburn, don’t stay silent. Lodge your own complaint. They rely on people giving up. Make sure you don’t.

It felt like a cold, bureaucratic system — not what you’d expect from a firm that claims to support people through difficult situations. I walked away feeling more dismissed than helped.
