Denis did an outstanding job when I purchased my Mazda3. From the moment we first met he was attentive to my needs followed through on all my requests and kept me informed throughout the whole purchase process. Great – Cristofer and Durmus were great in helping me select an ideal car for my needs. Very helpful and insightful. It was a low pressure sales scenario with special thanks to Cristofer who was able to liaise internally and also organise finance. All team members were well informed of my vehicle history prior to me meeting them which is good to see in a sales environment. Show details

No integrity or accountability – I recently purchased a new CX 3 Mazda from Max Kirwan Mazda in Preston. Firstly I went to view a Demo CX 3 which had only 200kms on clock, but registration was running out in 3 weeks. We negotiated a deal to extend rego by 3 months, and the trade in was increased in line with a previous offer I had for my existing vehicle. After paying the… Read more

deposit for the Demo CX3 and declining another offer for the sale of my Mazda 2 trade in from elsewhere, I was then contacted by the Mazda salesman who advised, he could not honour the agreement, due to a misunderstanding with management. I was then offered the same trade in for a brand new vehicle including 12 months rego, mats and cargo mat for $30,500. which I accepted. My trade in vehicle had a concession on the rego and the salesman asked me for my health care card. (refer attached) They then applied the concession on the new vehicle which reduced their costs, and allowed for them to pay less rego allowing for a larger profit margin out of the agreed price of $30,500. I was totally unaware that this was their intention, until I saw the first contract. At the time of accepting the $30,500 deal, no one was aware that I had a health card card. This all went pear shaped as Vic Roads would not allow 2 vehicles both with concession, as I was still driving my Mazda2 which was the trade in. I did offer to drop off my Mazda 2 prior to collection of my new vehicle, but I was told this was not necessary, as I could keep using it until I collected the new vehicle. I was then given 3 alternatives to continuing with the sale from a different Salesperson( The Salesman I originally dealt with went on hols) 1. Pay extra cost of $166 to cover standard rego, increasing the cost of the vehicle from $30,500 as agreed and as per text attached, to $30,666.75 2. Cancel contract and my deposit to be returned, even though I had by this time, paid the full balance owing, which they claimed they had not received. They were only willing at this point to refund the deposit being $1200.00 They claimed to be unaware that I had paid the balance owing, despite me providing evidence of payment to the Salesman Jim, who was by now on hols. 3. Give ownership over the phone to Max Kirwan Mazda of my trade in vehicle being my Mazda 2, but I would be responsible for $2500.00 excess should I have an accident, which was my fault. I was not happy with any of these 3 alternatives, but reluctantly had to accept the first alternative, and was then sent a 2nd contract, which had an increased price on it of $30666.75. The salesman I dealt with went on holidays the day after this sale, and there was no continuity or team work from other staff. There was no accountability for the errors made, which I have been made responsible for, by having to pay an extra $166.75 They were not willing to listen to my account of consequences. I had a text message from the original Salesman who clearly stipulated what the out of pocket costs would be, and what was included in the sale. Despite this, I had to pay an extra $166.00 for rego and I reluctantly agreed to sign a new contract showing the amended value. I was promised $30,500 but had to pay $30,666.75 through no fault of my own. Disgraceful organization with no integrity.

Very disappointed – There’s a known problem with the Mazda BL 3 (2009-2011) dashboard. The polymer can become very sticky and shiny and on sunny days the reflection can make visibility quite hazardous. This has happened to my Mazda and when I took my car in, I was quoted $1200 to replace and fit a new dashboard. I was told it was under warranty for 10 years only.… Read more

Unfortunately this became an issue for my car in 2022, so being a 2009 model, it’s out of warranty. I find this very disappointing that a known problem won’t be fixed under warranty.

Good car dealer – Just bought a new car Mazda6 wagon from Max Kirwan. The whole process happened in 1 day. I walked into the office by 9am then later paid for a not yet registered car. By 4:30pm, I drove my new registered car home. Big thank to the sale executive Mr Durmus who has facilitated the deal swiftly and professionally. Show details

Costly battery replacement – The check engine light came on in my daughter's Mazda 3 sedan. Booked into Max Kirwan's workshop, told that the vehicle needed a new battery, all else okay. Time to pay the bill... battery $283.00, told batteries were on special that month and a whopping $183.00 to remove the old battery and replace it with the new battery, less than half hours… Read more

Intimidated and pressured – Went to try there new Mazda CX-5's and felt incredibly pressured and intimidated to buy the vehicle, when I stated I needed more time to consider the purchase they held onto my keys from my vehicle that I was trading in and made me wait for 10 minutes. I again repeated myself that I needed more time to consider the offer that they had provided. Strongly advise you steer well clear of this dealership. Show details

Service department crooks – Engine lights came on and car lost power. Dropped the car off at Max Kirwan Service for them to string me along for 5 days before I received the call that my timing belt needed to be replaced. Very quickly diagnosed that the alternator had failed and also needed to be replaced. Quoted supply only $1800 for a genuine and $1200 for a generic… Read more

‘Japanese’ alternator and $340 for the timing belt. Advised it would take a few days to get in as there were none available. Something wasn’t sitting right so I decided to do my own research.

Found a genuine Mazda alternator at another competitor dealer at $1300 pick up same day on the shelf item and a generic ‘Japanese’ at $750. I rang the service manager to cancel my order and this is when the attitude shifted.

Apparently he has done nothing but try and look after me and now I want to return a part he has been searching high and wide for. Said he would charge me to return the item to the supplier, which I replied no problem even if I have to pay a $100 to return I’m still better off. Then told me to hold and came back and said how about we supply and install the alternator for $1350 as it would be better then them having to return it.

I then questioned how he could suddenly discount the part so much and install for that money. ‘I’m just trying to look after you’. That you did.... stupidly agreed to get it installed, timing belt changed and service for $1800 or so because we were without a car for over a week and a half now. (Sold our 2nd car and hadn’t found a replacement with new car shortages)

When I picked up the vehicle I gave the service manager a good piece of my mind and said I would be leaving a negative review. He then proceeded to tell me he had a great reputation in the industry for over 30 years and was retiring shortly and a negative review through their internal system wouldn’t be good for him.

Amazingly never received the review email nor did they follow up with their customer service call they usually persist on probably because they knew what I would come back with. Poor form from a dealer who you would expect to be looking after you to retain customers for future business. Service will be going elsewhere and they also lost me as a buyer who was actually there for a 2nd car we needed to buy.

Receptionist needs to learn how to smile over the phone, didn’t have to be there to know how much she loves her job with her attitude.

Question everything and do your research. Old school used car dealer tricks I say. And besides Mazda... I thought your dealers only use genuine Mazda parts!

Horrible service!! – Very disappointed in service. Made an appointment the day before to purchase a car, had to take a day off work and drove 3 hours to be told they had sold it that morning after only being open for 10 minutes before we arrived. Was then told they could match the price for a new car but the manager then changed his mind and wanted more money than what we agreed on. Will not be going back and do not recommend to anyone. Show details

Have bought 5 cars over 16 yrs and all serviced there – I have very high expectations from who ever I do businesses with. Max Kirwan sales and service staff usually meet, or exceed my expectations. That said to balance out this review, there have been two occasions, during this time where I bought from others on price. So well done getting me back to buy another car this week. Well done all! Show details

Beware, Salespeople omit important information to secure a sale - ZERO Duty of Care! – I went into Mazda to look at a CX9, Agreed upon a changeover price for a new CX9 and trade in of my car, I was told verbally that I had a 3 day cooling off period where a $2000 deposit was fully refundable. signing paperwork by 3 salespeople in a small office, they did not read or go over any of the contract just pointed out where to sign and initial on a few pages.

I returned the following day to cool off and they then explained that they would be charging me a 2% cool off fee which is clearly stated on your paperwork. I explained that I had been told by the samesman that it was fully refundable.

I was then spoken to by the sales manger followed by the general sales manager and they both told me bad luck you are legally bound by the paperwork which you initialled and that our sales people are not required by law to tell you that you are liable for the 2% cool off and again that I should have read it.

Extremely disappointed with this outcome it has ruined the experience of buying a new car, I would not recommend Max Kilwinning Mazda, take your time do not let the Sales people pressure you into signing anything on the spot.

Very happy customer! – I went in to Max Kirwan Madza yesterday and ended up sitting down with Andrew and signed a contract for a new top of the range Madza CX 3. contract in the cooling off period, then I was to pay a fee of $741 (2% of the purchase price).

Andrew was more than accommodating and threw out alternative options. I ended up going back to the dealership and purchasing a different Mazda CX 3 with a couple of extras at a very good price. And avoided having to pay the $741 fee!

If anyone is considering purchasing Mazda, I highly recommend you call Max Kirwan and ask for Andrew directly. Was a pleasure to deal with him with no added pressure. Genuine guy who will help you find what you're after. Thanks Andrew!
