Maytronics Dolphin S 300i
Glenn V.South East Queensland, QLD
Set and forget
We have had the dolfin s300i since sept16 (4+ yrs) it was supplied with the pool contract. it was repaired once under warranty and had run without issue until recently. Unable to Find any repair info online I persisted and found that the ‘cable anti twist coupling’ in the power cord was faulty. I was able to pull it apart , repair pins, relube oring and re assemble . It was just not making good connection inside. Has been fine since and is a good alround cleaner doing sides and collecting most leaves. We have lots of small leaf trees. I have only had the pool too far gone in hot weather twice where I had to brush clean the pool.

Really consider before you buy.
This cleaner needs more attension than my $100 aldi cleaner. Maybe my pool is to big 9x4.5. No satifaction guaranteed warrenty. That shouls spook you from the start. Can see it been great in a small pool with no trees within few hundred meters.I have to clean it every 2nd day. The filters in it will probably not last a season. Does not get to the step. Cleans ok but needs lots of cleaning. If we go away for a week what would happen.
Purchased in December 2020 for $2,600.00.

I purchased my robot 1mth ago, its the best purchase I have made for a long time. We have had our pool of 7ys i wish I had bought one when we got the pool. So easy to use, great that it cleans the walls too. Makes our busy life a lot easier with one less thing to clean.
Purchased in November 2020 for $2,000.00.
$2400+ then $650 for new motor & CPU after only 4 years!
Robot has been in for repaired twice in 4 years. Told it requires new motor and CPU for $650. Would have been better off purchasing a cheaper brand and replacing it each year. With such a huge outlay one would expect the motor to last longer. This should be covered under Australian consumer law.

Waste of money - and a lot of money to waste!
I have owned my Dolphin 300 series for 3 years and have had no satisfaction with it at all. Apart from having to have a new power cord fitted ($350 as it was out of warranty), the machine does a poor job of cleaning the pool. It really struggles with leaves, just "pushing" them around, and I always end up having to manually vac the pool, which defeats the purpose of buying a Dolphin in the first place. As for the app interface - a disaster. I just keep getting the "oops, something went wrong" message when I try to access any of the programs ot...
Read moreher than turning the thing on. It will not allow me to select any of the cleaning modes. Also, when I set the cleaner to go on everyday at the same time, it does it for one or two days, then switches itself off. Also, the cord is forever becoming wound up and stops the cleaner from accessing the whole pool. For a machine that cost me over $2000 I have nothing but buyers remorse. Definitely a waste of my money and time. It does a worse job than a $200 suction cleaner. Very unhappy.Purchased in October 2017 at Zodiac pool store Redcliffe for $2,000.00.

Read moreidge cleaner of which is available from your local dealer. Soaking the filters assists in shifting any ingrained debris that could contribute to the robot's ability to filter debris. With regard to the smartphone connection, as the Dolphin S300i is Bluetooth compatible, it is recommended to be within range to ensure connection. If a problem continues to occur, either with selecting a mode and/or the weekly timer, assessment is recommended. In instances whereby the cable is tangling, cable maintenance is recommended as it is an important step in ensuring the life of the cable. Ensure to set the power supply on the deck as close to the centre of the pool as possible and only put as much cable in the pool as is needed to reach the furthest corner of the pool. Once a week, disconnect the cable from the power supply, untangle and straighten the cable working from the robot upwards and lay it on the ground (in the sun if possible), for 30 minutes prior to rolling it up and when using the caddy to store the unit and cable, circle the cable in big loops around the caddy hooks.Great designed unit with quality to match!
I had JB Pool construction build my in ground pool and spa. The Maytronics range Jamie believed was at the forefront of the Robotic pool cleaner market and rightly so.
I chose the s300i over the m400 for 2 main reasons,
1. App wifi connectivity
2. Design of the large filter/Catchment basket
I have a large amount of leaves and dust on my acreage property and the 300i takes care of it with ease!
Great choice all round!

Disappointing
Had it a month and pretty disappointed with it.
It is pretty random how it goes around the pool. There are times when it just goes backwood and then forward, in half a meter.
The impeller isn't strong enough to keep it pressed on the waterline tiles.
The cost is excessive when compared to the results.

Outstanding pool cleaner
I trialled a Dolphin s300i on Wednesday and by Thursday I had ordered one. What a great investment. The pool cleaner I had was still working but only cleaned the floor. After the bushfires the pool was blanketed with ash and dust. I thought I would never get rid of it. The dolphin rid of it within a few days. The best thing is it scrubs the waterline and walls so no more lugging of the broom. Our pool has never looked so clean. We have a pine tree close that drops tiny pine needles that sink down and land in the grout lines, I couldn’t believe...

The best pool cleaner we've owned
We have a large pool and neighboring trees drop leaves & twigs into the pool. This unit although expensive cleans all this debris without any trouble.
After an initial issue which was sorted by Maytronics and the agent extremely promptly this unit has not missed a beat. The unit climbs the walls of the pool then moves sideways cleaning along the waterline as well as the floor and within a couple of hours of setting the unit up the pool is spotless

Excellent Pool Cleaner
Have owned the pool cleaner for 7 months now and hasn't missed a beat, pool is surrounded by trees so lots of leaf litter and dust, so far so good, easy to use compared to setting up a suction cleaner, just hoping for the high cost of the unit it goes forever.

Great pool cleaner we love it
We live in a very heavily treed area so our pool is constantly filled with debris from leaves to small sticks, the Dolphin 300i cleans it all up with ease, it very easy to empty and clean the filters, we set and forget.

Great pool cleaner
Bought S300i 4 months ago and pleased with it so far. It's expensive but I've had 3 other cleaners before this one (in 15 years) and this is the best so far. The best thing is that it's not connected to the pool pump so the pump can run without the extra load of a cleaner. We have a large pool that collects a lot of leaves so I have to empty the basket 4-5 times a day until it's cleared out - but that's ok as I had to do that with the pool filter basket anyway. Does not clean the steps - tries to but doesn't succeed so I usually vacuum them manually. You can do it with the app but it's a bit of a hassle and the last couple of times I tried to use the app it didn't work- not a major problem to me though. So far so good.

Great Cleaner but needs a few improvements
I have had this S300i for just on three years now. cleans the pool well, the two modes Fast (one hour) cleans the floor only and long (three hours) floor and walls is a great option and works well. Does not clean the steps but dont think any cleaner does despite what the rep says. This unit is super easy and fast to clean, the filter box lifts out with its own handle is fast and easy to hose out, could not be easier, looked at many and this was one of the few that would filter fine dust without needing a bag (that looks way too hard and time co...
Read morensuming to clean) but has large catchment for leaves and nuts. The unit is light to carry (much lighter than most of the good cleaners) and even when in water just hold it against the side of the pool and let the water run out before lifting out. it takes about two minutes to put in and about 5 min to take out, clean put on the caddy and put away its it really that quick and easy. The app is crap, who wants to manually drive it anyway, bought this to clean the pool, not me to drive it clean, but controlling it is average at best - do not buy it for this option. There are two design faults i believe. first is getting at the impeller is difficult, and if you have anyone in your pool with long hair (hair sheds) it gets wrapped around the pump impeller and reduces the water flow and ability to clean. this would be a problem with all cleaners but the S300i makes it difficult to fix, first you need to remove a cover with two screws, but maytronics took a shortcut where the cable is anchored to the unit, its part of this cover and is fiddly to remove and reattach this cover, two further fittings are easy to remove and then get at the impeller, other models i have seen have one screw holding a cover and you are done. Maytronics could and should fix this with little change to the design. The second problem is the rubber flap at the front to let the water out when finished seems to get stiffer as the unit gets older and i think it no longer seals properly and some water is sucked in there instead of through the filter cartridge. this causes two problems, reduced suction (cleaning) through the filter cartridge and distributes the dirt past the filter and around the pool to resettle on the bottom. i have glued the middle of the flap shut and fixed the problem but it should be part of the design. The unit stopped working recently one year out of warranty, I disassembled the drive and pump unit and found a small amount of water and a lot of condensation, the desiccant bag was soaked. So I cleaned and dried everything, used contact cleaner on the circuit board and dried the desiccant bag in the oven, (at a low temp) unit is now working again. it would seem that after two years (the warranty) the desiccant bag is no longer able to absorb the moisture and it starts to build up in the housing. not sure what the answer to this is and suspect all cleaners would suffer this, maybe it could be a service recommendation, in future i will disassemble after warranty for any unit i own. Im sure the moisture in the motor housing will have reduced the life on the unit. If you attempt this ensure all seals and surfaces are carefully cleaned and make sure you do not stretch the O-rings. use plenty of silicone pool grease/lube when reassembling. Apparently there are shops out there that can replace individual components on these which could also be an option if they fail. After all that i would still recommend this unit as it does what it want it to and for the reasons I chose this cleaner over many others - filters fine dirt and silt, fast and easy to clean, light and compact.Purchased in April 2016 for $1,900.00.

Waste of money
Made some pretty good decisions on pool equipment before but this is not one of them. Have had the unit for 2 years and 3 months and in that time the controller has had to be replaced on site by a rep, have had problems with the app which were resolved and the power cable had to be replaced under warranty because it was faulty. Now I have had to pay 325 dollars to have an impeller fixed for a unit that was cleaned weekly and it was cited as maintenance. I would say more likely poor design. When it cleans it cleans well but it comes at a cost. Poor product and clearly badly designed

Hi everyone, I've recently purchased a S200 and I was impressed with the machine (cleaner), but decided I need the flexibility to program start and cycles times, so I upgraded to S300i. My opinion about the machine hasn't changed, but I'm incredibly frustrated with the robot (control unit). The S200 had a control panel with function keys for the weekly start cycles that didn't work and now that I've upgraded to the S300i, the control panel don't have the function keys and rely completely on the bluetooth and wifi connectivity that also doesn't work. I've upgraded and payed more money for functions I'm not getting. What am I missing here, the blue wifi indicator is showing it is connected but the app is stuck on "receiving info from robot". Has anyone else had this issue. One extremely frustrated and unhappy customer.

Hi Elroy. When using wifi as the preferred method for connectivity for the My Dolphin Plus smartphone application, ensure that both wi-fi and Bluetooth are enabled and that Location Services are also enabled as this allows the My Dolphin Plus smartphone application the access to the device to allow connection. These options should also be prompted when using the application.
A strong wi-fi presence be present in the area of the power supply is recommended as this allows the connection to take place. Should the signal strength be less than required, a wi-fi extender may be able to provide the solution to assist in boosting the connection and allow the connection and if using an extender, ensure to connect into this network. If the smartphone application gets to the final stage and is then unable to connect, this is generally due to signal strength. Please also note that the wi-fis frequency is required to be set to 2.4Ghz as this is what is supported by the robot’s power supply.

I purchased a S300i cleaner approx 3 months ago, replacing an old Zodiac robotic cleaner. To say I'm disappointed with the unit would be an understatement. The unit is not letting leaves come all the way into the basket while cleaning. Everything gets stuck in the black cloth section of the basket. I've read a previous response to this problem where you recommend scooping the pool first - kind of defeats the purpose of having this type of unit don't you think? I don't consider the amount of debris to be excessive and the previous cleaner coped fine. The unit is getting blocked very easily and I have to unblock it several times during its cycle to clear the chute.
Can you please advise how I go about getting a different machine under warranty ? Failing this, I'd like to discuss getting a refund. Thanks
1 answer
Maytronics A.Maytronics
Hi Beages. Thank you for your feedback. The Dolphin S300i has a dual filter whereby the filter basket is fitted with the ultra fine filter panels and the net filter basket sits within it. If a large amount of leaves are present in the pool and if the filter basket requires cleaning mid cleaning cycle, manual removal of these is recommended as this minimises any blockage from the non return flap and into the filter basket. It is recommended to discuss any swap to a different model or refund with the store of purchase.
