This is my third review on my April 2023 Mazda 2, white pure with a six speed manual with tinted windows and a few other inclusions such as LED headlights (marvellous), lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert (fantastic). Ok so the plastics are scratchy and the infotainment system is small at… Read more

around 8 inches but it is very clear. And cupholders in the back and centre armrest storage bin would have been nice (I fitted all of these items at much cheapter prices). However, the drive of this car is excellent, a beautiful six speed manual box that shifts precisely and a clutch that is so well matched that city driving is a breeze. Combine that with fuel economy that is consistent at around 6.5L/100kms as well as sharp handling and direct sterring and this car given its design age is truly fantastic for what it costs. However, the greatest improvement I have made to the car is the fitment of 195 instead of 185s still on the standard 15" alloy rims and what a difference. Ride is much smoother, road noise is reduced and handling in tight corners is much sharper. I throughly receomend upsizing. Overall a great car for the money, this si where the real value is, everything you need but note this car needs to be driven, you can't just lope along but as both a city and highway car it is truly fit for purpose.

Mazda 2 Automatic 2019 – This vehicle is used mainly to travel to the University on daily basis and for local run arounds. This vehicle is very light on fuel and is only 6 months old and the interior still smells like a new vechile. It is good value for money and has 5 star ANCAP safety rating. Show details

Great little car – Bought new ex-demo. Commute to work great on fuel although a little noisy and the speedo is over on the actual speed compared to the cruise control. Love the reverse sensors they’re a life saver! Comfy and zippy to drive and looks good. I have the dynamic blue colour and always getting compliments. Bluetooth is annoyingly slow and sometimes crap.… Read more

Sometimes ding sounds from the passenger floor but apparently nothing wrong with it. Overall no major issues but only had it 2 months so far.

Great car and could be even better for peanuts – We bought this Mazda 2 Neo model 2nd hand with 38000 on the clock, My mechanic said these cars are trouble free and l agree. A delight to drive, great seats and a stylish overall feel when driving. My only annoyances are are few dash rattles, crackles ( vibrating cable noises?) when driving on certain textured roads or bumps. The other annoyance is… Read more

the lack of reverse camera in a 2016 built vehicle (bewildering when rear vision is so restrictive) l suppose it's my fault for not buying a more expensive model to get such a basic feature. The 12 mth service intervals are a big plus and the Mazda Brighton service dept are outstanding to deal with. This is my 2nd Mazda in 7 years and won't be my last.

Great little car! – Buying this car was definitely a great decision. I bought it brand new and have not had a single problem with it for 4 years now. Great fuel economy. Surprisingly spacious in the back seats. Huge amount of space when you put the back seats down too! I’ve managed to squeeze surfboards, golf clubs and bags in there no problem. A handy little car for all occasions.  Show details

Great zip-around car! – I use my car every single day around my suburb and my city, driving to work and university. This car is so fuel-efficient, I hardly ever need to fill up my tank and when I do it doesn't cost me much to hit 100% capacity! It's a really attractive car too, a nice design with the hatchback and the interior is really appealing and streamlined too.… Read more

It's not a car for families - if you had 5 people it would definitely be a bit cramped, but that's the sacrifice you make for a compact car.

If you are looking for a well built car.. don't buy a Mazda 2 – I bought a Mazda 2 Neo early 2015. Ever since the purchase date I have had numerous issues with interior rattles. It is evident that the move to production in Thailand has led to a poorer build quality. The interior is made of all hard plastics. Here are the issues I have had/still have: - Rattling glove box (fixed by tightening) - Rattling in… Read more

the seat belt columns, particularly when the car has been left outside (never been fixed despite 7 visits to mazda)

- Rattling dashboard due to the gap between the dash and glass (improved by an unattractive piece of foam Mazda placed in between the two - however still rattles sometimes)

- Squeaky seat runner (fixed by being replaced, however the new ones still squeak sometimes)

- Creaking in the back when turning corners

- A drivers seat that squeaks in numerous places in the foam. (Foam was replaced. The squeaks returned. Mazda refused to replace the foam again)

There is also exterior noises when turning the steering wheel. I have never heard this before in other cars. The technicians at Mazda tried to make it sound like its a 'normal' thing for non-luxury car brands.

The customer service I have received from Mazda regarding these issues has been extremely poor. They continue to say that they cannot recreate the issues, even when I have shown them videos of the noises my car makes. Mazda Australia has also been unhelpful. This is an extreme shame as I purchased a Mazda after numerous family members and family friends raved about their Mazdas. I will NEVER buy Mazda again, nor recommend it to family or friends.

If you don't care about built quality and rattles this is a fuel efficient and attractive little car to drive, BUT I can't wait to get rid of my Mazda 2.

Great Little Car – Got one of these Mazda 2s for a fantastic price. In this price range there certainly isn't much competition. It is easy to drive. With the rear view camera it is also easy to park. Fuel consumption is great. My weekly fill ups have been reduced by more than $30 for the same number of kilometres traveled.  Show details

Superb Value – Front view looks male and beefy. Side looks curvy, aerodynamic and feminine. Rear is let down by the lighting. Rear should have been more similar to the front. A high boot lid gives it a large capacity for a car this size. Interior is okay for an M Line or base model. Rear will fit 2 people comfortably spaced. Three of smaller stature. Anyone… Read more

6 foot or more can sit in the front. Seats are average. cockpit is reasonable. Drink holders should be further up. Ignition button should be under the indicators, not behind the wipers.

But all this is menial when you drive this car. I didn't research this vehicle so my opinions are't gospel. I just made a decision test driving several makes and purchased the car for my mother. I worked in the car industry and know low fruit when I see it. This car isn't. .

It's as quiet as a Jag. There's very little windscreen noise, even at high speeds. But this comes at a price. The windows will 'drone' when they're down more than half way and - it will bother your ears. Not so bad when seated in the rear. .

Rear end seems light and under suspended, but it's quite the opposite. Don't know what they've done to the front end but it points as well as, if not better, than a Honda. Cornering is too easy.

Spoiler is low and it will scrape. Small tank, but very economical and of course, cheap to fill. I don't think this car is under powered - after all - it's a city car and it's only a 1.5 litre. It actually makes good torque for its size. The semi automatic gearbox is silly fun and it has a bit of gusto over 110. I was told by a Mazda this engine ignites without a spark at higher revs and when warm. - sort of a combination of diesel and petrol ignitions. The combustion pressure and heat ignite the cycle. What was expensive tech now on mass.

But I'm assessing this car as regards value and around $20K the value for money correlation on this vehicle clearly attests as to why Toyota and Mazda are two of the world's best selling brands. Great little bus.

A good car! – I’ve owned my Mazda 2 Neo for nearly 2 years now. It’s a good to drive car with enough power and good economy. Handles really well too which makes it a fun car to drive. Few quality issues fixed under warranty such as a faulty BCM, rear suspension and rear seatbelts. If you regularly stream music from your phone I’d recommend getting one… Read more

with MZD screen as the Neo’s basic radio isn’t much use. Works fine but just cant select music or podcasts via the radio. Although that’s something I should have checked before buying it.

All in all a good car and one worth looking at.

Fantastic little run around – We've had our Mazda 2 for almost 3 years now and it has been a fantastic ownership experience. It's a fun car to drive and extremely fuel efficient. We've only had one fault when the rear shocks died in the first year and Mazda replaced them at no cost no questions asked. When we bought it we looked at the Mazda and the Honda Jazz and although… Read more

the Jazz had a much bigger feeling interior the Mazda was much more fun to drive. Only downsides I can think of are that the entertainment unit in the Neo is pretty basic and it can hesitate a little to pull away from a standing start.

Servicing has been amazing - feels like I have walked into a luxury dealer with a really slick check in experience and free coffee and snacks while waiting for the courtesy bus..

The Best of the Best SERVICE – My poor old 1997 Mazda 121 got ill, mind you he had travelled almost 310,000 kilolmetres and the medical bills were getting bigger and bigger. road to Jarrett's. What a change! The Salesman, Brenton Woods, stopped doing whatever it was he was working on immediately and asked if he could help! The conversion was complete! The SERVICE - and the capitals are deliberate - from the start until I picked up my little new boy was endless. Nothing was too much trouble. I was introduced to the Accounts Manager, the Service Manager and on Delivery Day I was taken through all the new technology. One person is usually overlooked by New Car Buyers and that is the one who prepares the vehicle. His name is Eli, I have never met him but he did a beautiful job.

After I had completed the first 1000 kilometres I booked him in for his First Check-up. All done with no fuss.

I have since bought a couple of accessories for him and the SERVICE remains as high as ever.

I cannot recommend Jarrett Mazda at Mount Barker Highly enough.

Great little car – Small enough to make parking easy. Fuel efficient, I get 500ks around town per 40 liter tank, quiet smooth ride. I have owned three Mazda 2's and they have never let me down. The only gripe I have is that the fuel gauge isn't very accurate once it passes 50% empty. I recommend these cars to anyone who wants a small fuel efficient reliable car.  Show details

Latency in response – Very comfortable on the inside and looks good. Low fuel consumption. Very good for learners and slow drivers. But I definitely would not recommend this car for those to rely on quick response of the car in various circumstances. It has a huge latency and may put lives in danger. I had to change my driving style after purchasing it. It is completely opposite to my previous car - Mazda 2 (!) fabricated in 2008.  Show details

Amazing fuel usage, great handling – Efficient on fuel is an understatement, we used to fill up once per fortnight now we fill up once in 2 and a half months, it's amazing. Zippy little car! – I love driving this car. We had a Mazda 323 protege before and after going back to Mazda after a spate of other cars, we were not disappointed! Comfortable and zippy little car – The smoothest car I've ever driven. Hardly chews the fuel (I only have to fuel up every 3-4 weeks) but has a lot of power when you put your foot down. It may look like a small car from the exterior but it has more space inside than you'd expect. And, i didn't expect this from a brand like Mazda but replacement parts are cheaper than expected.  Show details

Check engine light issues!! – Have had nothing but issues with my mazda 2 Neo, it went okay for about 15,000km then the check engine kept coming on, then it would go okay for a few weeks then it would come on again, this has probably happened about 15 times and majority of the time i am told it was dirty fuel even though 90% of the time the fuel i used was 98 so i swapped… Read more

between servos to see which was the best one. Have had the engine replaced and just about every other component in the engine block. Have had it towed 4 times once from 100km away. Engine has cut out on me while driving on more than one occasion, and when i tried to get a new car i was told i would have to pay the difference with the amount of distance the car had been driven, and now after seemingly going okay for about 5 months the check engine light has come on again and i am getting told it need a carbon cleanout here we go again. UPDATE: Took my car in for the service cost me $877 and less than a day later my engine light came back on, when I took the car back was informed properly everyday for 4 days then I had to ring them after hearing nothing for a week. They cleaned out the manifold which had carbon build-up, so do I change servos again because this will be the 6th servo that has had an issue with dirty fuel.

circular air vents and long dash lines. On a twisty road the handling comes to the fore with the Mazda 2 easily settling into corners at the speed limit and holding a line nicely. Traveling out of town the Mazda doesn't disappoint with it's 6 speed gearbox making for effortless highway cruising and the cruise control allowing for individual km/h adjustments. With 2 adults and 2 kids onboard the Mazda 2 cabin feels secure and comfortable without being spacious as would be in a larger car. Fuel consumption is nothing short of spectacular !

I can totally recommend the current Mazda 2 - great refinements of what was already a great car in the previous model.
