Unreliable and poor customer service
The connectors kept popping open, I was told my connectors were faulty but one of my replacement ones still does the same. The pump also randomly shuts off or halves suction. After 6 weeks of asking for help I was told the pump was faulty and to return to where I purchased.

Don't waste your time
This is easily the worst breast pump I have ever used. I bought this pump under the assumption that it would save me time. If anything it has actually increased the time I have spent pumping. The air tube is constantly malfunctioning - Breast milk is always leaking into there and I spend the majority of my pumping time trying to rectify this. One of the reasons why I pump is to increase my supply, so to see milk leaking into the air tube is incredibly frustrating. Also having to clean the air tube to get the milk out is an absolute pain and on...ly adds to more time being wasted. I also find that at times the suction isn’t strong enough. There have been many instances where I’ve have to hold the pump in place in order to ensure that my breasts are fully emptied (This makes the concept of the pump being hands free entirely pointless). I contacted customer service regarding these issues, (whom to their credit, responded quite promptly). They advised that they could provide new connectors in order to rectify the suction and leaking issues or I could try and request a refund from the seller. I opted for the latter for 2 reasons: 1. Given the below reviews, the new connectors don’t seem to solve the problem. Also, from my experience the issue isn’t the connectors - it’s the poor make and design of the product. 2. I am a new mother, I am short on time as is and I don’t have the capacity to wait around for replacement parts I’ve now reverted back to using my old tommee tipee pump. Which despite being a single pump, is still quicker and easier to use than the medela swing maxi. Given how expensive the pump was (I paid $268), I am now in the midst of trying to organise a refund in the hope that I’ll get my money back. I would most definitely not recommend this product to expectant mothers.
It is really disappointing!
I bought Swing maxi breast pump when my first son was born. After a while, it was not expressing milk. I sent it back for check and i was told the motor is faulty. They asked me to go to the shop again and get the replacement. Again, after a while same issue happened. I sent it back and received a response saying it is working and only the tub need cleaning. Their message was saying they have replaced the tube and connectors out of courtesy. The new connectors were not mine obviously, Because one of them was broken. I had enough of their support. Now my second son is born and i just thought try it one more time with another connector and it just do not work! Now i am going to buy another pump from another brand!

I have found the medela swing maxi to be so simple to use and effective. I love I can use batteries and walk around while pumping. It’s a relatively quiet pump and is not too big. Highly recommend in conjunction with other medela products.

Don’t waste your money
The pump parts needs to be completely dry before it will provide any suction whatsoever. The motor doesn’t seem to have enough power to fully empty my breasts in a reasonable amount of time. Save your money and buy a hospital grade pump. The only upside of this pump is that it’s portable but that is negated by the need to remain completely still or the flanges become loose and the parts fall off your breast.

Can't live without
Excellent customer service from medela.
Esp when parts are broken / faulty, they send out one immediately with express post! Often for free.
My first pump broke after 2.5 years! Machine faulty. Dint bother to repair it but gave it to someone else to trade in (medela overseas offers trade in programme! Not Australia unfortunately).
Anyways, I Love this double pump. Fast and efficient. Reasonably good suction and works for me.
Can also buy USB connector and connect to power bank / car port and pump on the go.
Good to buy when chemist warehouse has sale. Often can price beat.

DO NOT BUY THIS PUMP!!!
I purchased this pump as my baby was not latching properly, so I was expressing milk for every feed. I bought the pump from a local baby store that charged me $450, which is excessive as Baby Bunting sell them for around $300 mark. The pump lasted less than a week before the suction failed on one side then a day or so later it began to fail on the other side. They parts were not connecting properly after I pulled them apart to clean them. I checked the manual and followed all the instructions but it still does not work properly. Also for the fe...w days that the pump actually worked I found its performance to be mediocre at best and the pump was extremely loud. When I took the pump back to where I purchased it, they contacted Medela then refused to give me a refund and gave me one replacement part which has been useless. I have been so upset and in tears over this pump as it prevented me from being able to feed my baby. I nearly lost my milk supply because of this pump and it is the reason I have had to take medication to re-establish my supply, which I had no issue with prior to using this pump. As I live rural I was unable to purchase another pump as no where else sells them where I live and the post is extremely slow often taking three plus weeks for anything to be delivered from anywhere. I ended up spending over $400 hiring a hospital grade pump through a wonderful local support service for mothers and babies. I will be contacting consumer affairs in regards to this product as I believe I am entitled to a refund as the product failed and if I had known of the poor quality and issues with this pump I never would have bought it.

I wish I had gone through the reviews
Bought this in feb2020 right after delivery from baby bunting, but this pump is frustrating. It only worked on the first day, it has lost suction and i have to keep struggling with the wires, upon examining I be found there are cracks in the connector base. Such a poor make, I wish I could get any other pump, be from medela but durable at least

Lack of suction and noisy......
Bought Medela swing maxi double electric breast pump on 8th Feb and it didn’t work on both side at the same time, lack of suction and noisy. Had to use once side at a time but still no proper suction even after setting to max speed. Took it back to chemist warehouse and they advise to contact Medial .Upon contacting, Medela sent connectors but issues were not fixed still lack of suction and noisy. Checked with Medial again and asked to take it back to chemist warehouse and chemist advise that they don’t have test equipment to test both sides...hence need to send the unit back to Medela for testing, up on checking with chemist warehouse after couple of days later with manager he said , unit was sent and still waiting for update from medial, it's been more than a month now , unable to contact chemist warehouse manager and no update from Medela. completely waste of time and money .buying this unit only you get is frustration nothing more than that.

So unhappy I am actually crying.
I will admit that it started off great but the multiple attachments were always annoying. Then it went downhill. After only 8 months the pieces don’t connect properly and don’t seal well enough anymore leaving air gaps causing no suction. I have literally just thrown it across the room in tired frustration of only having 20 minutes to pump but spending the first 20 minutes trying to even get the suction right. I’ve gone out of my way to leave this review to hopefully save any new Mums looking to buy this product. DON’T. It needs to be held tigh...tly to seal. It’s just a joke for what you pay and it hasn’t even made it to 1 year old before falling apart. And the amount of attachments is ridiculous. I highly suggest to NEVER by this overpriced poorly made breast pump.

Poor suction, poor pump, Waste of money
I’ve been using this pumps for 6 months now (pumping 6-8 times daily) and wish from the beginning I had gottten another pump. This pump has no suction and for best results, all the parts should be dry when assembling. Nobody’s got time for that, esp with a preemie baby. Throughout my pump, I constantly have to take the connector apart to readjust in hopes of getting a stronger suction. And don’t waste your money on replacement parts. The connectors are overpriced and they are worse than the original parts that came with the machine. Again, lots...of leaks and therefore poor suction. There have been plenty of times where I felt like my breasts were never completely emptied. This pump always leave me frustrated so I’ve thrown in the towel and have bought a different brand.

Previously had the Medela swing pump and it would take half an hour, 15 mins on each side, to empty each side. But now with the maxi, double pumping at the same time has allowed me to put the extra 15mins saved each time towards something else, like changing nappies haha!

Waste of Money
I've had so many issues with this pump. I've replaced the connectors three times, purchased new shields however nothing seems to work. There's barely any suction and completely unrealiable. Insanely disappointed as Medela doesn't even want to bother replacing the pump for me.

Good and does the job
Bought this as I heard good things about Medella. And used a similar medella one in the hospital after giving birth. Have only used it a few times as a double pump (with a pumping bra otherwise it is impossible to hold). But still use it at least once a day as a single pump. It does the job well. And haven’t had any issues.

Questions & Answers
Hi. I am in Dubai and I have a medela maxi swing which is 5 years old. I need new spare parts which are currently not available. Is there any other model spare parts which i can use?
Thanks for asking! We do have spare parts you can use, the best thing to do would be to either call our customer services team directly on +61 (0) 3 9552 8600 and they will be able to tell you exactly what you need, unfortunately we only ship to Australia, so you will need to contact your local distributor for parts.
Hi, I have Medela maxi flex double electric pump. Size of the flange that came with the pump was 24 mm. I didn’t know that there are different flange sizes available. Now I realised that my nipples are too big and they rub against the wall of flange and it hurts a lot. I just found that there are different size flanges available. How can I change the flange? If I want to use 27 mm flange, does it for the existing connector or do I have to buy a new connector too?
Hi Priyal, thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing pain with the Medium size breast shield. You can purchase the size Large (27mm) from our webstore via the link below, or at your local Baby Bunting/ Chemist Warehouse. You do not need to purchase a new connector or any other accessories.
Can I buy new medelaflex spare parts (breastshield connector and tubing) and use it with the old Medela swing maxi machine?
Hi Cher, thanks for reaching out! You certainly can purchase the new Flex accessories and use them with your previous model Swing Maxi pump. Be sure to purchase the Flex connector, Flex tubing, and breast shield (both old and new Flex breast shields are compatible with your machine.)
