Great
I am very happy with the double swing Maxi. I used it for my first child and rebought for my second. The usb charging is a great upgrade. I use it mostly at home in the same area so I cant comment about it being portable.

Awful - DO NOT BUY
If you check reviews you will see that a lot of people have had issues with the battery. I am no exception. Luckily my first pump died within 2 weeks and it was easy to demonstrate to the people at Baby Bunting that it wasn’t working.
The replacement pump thankfully is still operational, but just barely. The suction is inconsistent which has affected my supply. The suction is blistering my nipples but the pump has been much less effective than a previous pump I was using.
Sometimes the pump decides to work, sometimes it doesn’t. Every use I

As someone who already is an under-supplier, a crappy pump is the last thing I need adding to my pile of problems. I’ve also had my Medela flex flanges crack within 2 months. My opinion of Medela is not great.Purchased for $350.

Disappointing
Initially loved this pump- so easy to use and comfortable but it has stopped working after minimal use and when I called customer service all they could offer was to try new connectors which I already had and didn’t fix the issue ( lack of suction). For something that is not cheap I would have expected it to last for much longer than a couple of weeks of use. Very disappointing
Having issues.
I’ve used the pump a few times and it keeps now turning off while I pump. I keep having to turn it back on.

Devastated - almost ending my expressing journey :(
Absolutely devastated - an emotional nicu mum this pump started off amazing. One week in the pump was readily loosing suction and making inconsistent pumping noises. After 3 weeks the pump is unusable unless constantly plugged in, even then it’s making inconsistent sucks. I emailed medela who advised me it’s out of their hands and to email the seller for warranty. Under Australian consumer law this is classed as a major fault and means the customer can choose a refund. I need a refund asap to buy another pump - I don’t have the money to go get

I used the Medela symphony at the hospital which is why I bought this one.
Whilst the suction isn’t as strong at the hospital pump which needs to be plugged in to use… it was perfect for me and so easy during the night to grab and use in bed.
I used it through one pregnancy and my sister is using it now. The battery has lasted fine. I bought mine baby bunting in Australia

Not good for double pumping
This pump is fine if used on just one breast but if you’re thinking about double pumping don’t bother. This isn’t one that’s going to be of any use returning to work or regular pumping needs. More for casually building a freezer stash rather than a steady workhorse pump. Definitely not worth the price.

I bought this pump on the strength of the Medela Symphony pumps I used in the hospital and hired from the chemist in the weeks after delivery. Unfortunately they are not the least bit similar in my experience. Yes the Swing machine works and I was able to pump milk with it for several months, however not as much or as quickly as I would get with the Symphony - still true at the 9 month point when I hired the Symphony again out of frustration/curiosity. The main 'pro' of the Swing for me was the wireless portability - it was much more convenient
... Read more than having to sit still near a power outlet for the Symphony. The main 'con' of the Swing was that it's functions were very limited - there was really just the stimulation function (fast) and the main pumping function (slower) with intensity levels being the only variation to these. It also felt more like a surface level buzzing sensation rather than any deep suction. By comparison, both the Symphony and another Tommee Tippee pump I have go through more variations than this and feel like a deeper type of suction which elicited a better response for me.Purchased in at Bubs n Grubs Physical store for $327.

Hi SMM,
Thank you for reviewing our Swing Maxi Double Electric Breast Pump. While the Swing and Symphony are both excellent pumps that allow you to express milk efficiently, it will come down to which
Don’t waste your precious maternity leave money!
Do not waste your money on this pump. I wish I looked at more reviews of this pump before purchasing it as I’ve since seen several reviews reporting similar problems. I bought this pump a bit over two months ago because I was pumping a lot with my second hand old model medela swing pump that I was given by a work colleague after she used it when she had her two children. I love that one so I thought I’d make the investment and buy the double of the new model to save time because having a new baby as I’m sure everyone knows is very time consumin
... Read moreg. Saving time by pumping both breasts at once seemed like a great idea. However, within a few uses I was finding that the milk was building up in the top part of the device and losing suction. So I’d end up having to use my old pump anyway which had previously been used for two other children but somehow still worked better than this new model design. Attempted to problem solve by ensuring all the parts were completely dry (as suggested by medela costumer service) and when that didn’t work I replaced the connectors which cost me $35 which was also suggested by Medela despite me telling them the pump was new and hardly used which made only a very temporary improvement. Attempted to return to baby bunting and they proceeded to test the pump on some rubber breasts and told me the pump is in fine working order. When I was unhappy with this response they agreed to send back to Medela for testing (only after calling medela in store with the baby bunting employee because the didn’t want to send it off for testing). When I questioned how a pump that’s clogging up with milk and losing suction can be tested on a rubber breast with no milk flow the reply from baby bunting was that’s how Medela tests all their pumps. Just received a call from baby bunting to say Medela have returned the pump after testing and it’s in perfect working condition. So in conclusion, the pump sucks only in quality and not in theory. Nearly in tears thinking about $335 of my maternity leave down the drain and absolutely nothing to show for it as Medela and baby bunting are both refusing to provide me with a replacement pump or a refund. I have literally never left a bad review on anything before because I like to give the benefit of the doubt but I’m so beyond disappointed with the attitude of both Medela and baby bunting that I feel that I needed to warn other new mums to avoid the wasted money and disappointment.Purchased at Baby Bunting Physical store for $335.

Good luck.
My partner borrowed a pump from my sister and used it for 6 weeks then the suction failed and had to use it as a single pump until it completely failed. Replaced with a new one with the built-in battery which is great for hands free the battery will last 2-3 pumps on full charge but now the suction is failing on this one as well. Yes, we have tried everything including watching the amazing videos online to no avail. This is not a pump for exclusive pumping as it just does not last. I will take it back tomorrow to see what the shop can do as it's too expensive to keep replacing.

Just buy formula instead!
I bought this breast pump to feed my premature baby. It was the worst purchase I’d ever bought. For starters the suction when using it as a double pump it was so poor my dyson vacuum cleaner would have done a better job. Secondly I’d have to bend over at a 45 degree angle just so the milk would not spill out the sides. This hurt after having an epidural. 3rd I was told to take it back to the store of purchase from customer service. That would have been fine if I was able to drive after having a Caesarian section. In the end I just gave up!

I would not recommend Medea breast pumps to anyone especially first time mothers with a premature baby!
... Read more Not only are their products terrible such as not having enough suction when trying to pump from both breasts(I bought the Medea swing maxi that was almost $300) and it leaking everywhere basically defeating the purpose of pumping and having to lean over lean over so far with an aching back from having an epidural. The customer service is terrible. You only get copy paste responses from previous posts. I have Some advice to Medela Instead of paying bloggers/ influencers to promote your products spend money on manufacturing a higher quality product! Thank god I got a refund! Spend your money on formula instead and save your self the hassle and stress of fighting to get your money back.! Comfortable and easy to use although, the battery life is poor. It is averaging out to take 20% each pumping session which to me seems not worth the money I paid for it. Also, I cannot find spare parts to buy for it anywhere. Other than that, I love it.

Save your money
Baby was born at 26 weeks, so I needed a good pump, as I exclusively pumped for 16 weeks before baby came home, every 3 hours.
Several times a day, often at 3am when I was tiredest, the pump would catch all the milk in the head of pump, not altering or to drop into bottle. Upon separating pump from bottle, all the milk would spoil out onto bed sheets.
Contacted medela and was sent a replacement part, but problem still occurred. After 3 weeks, I'd had enough and purchased an Ardo.

The pump works well and is easy to use. I love that all the parts are separate and easily washable and sterilised. Have used this pump for 2 babies over the last 7 years and its still going strong. Accessories are easy to buy and with adaptors you can express directly into any brand bottle or milk storage container. Definitely would recommend!

If I could give it zero stars I would
This pump is a complete waste of money. I wish I had of read more reviews before purchasing. I just used this pump for 10 minutes and got absolutely no expressed milk out. Used my spectra s2 straight after and got 50ml. I wanted to something that was portable and hands free so I decided to get this product while it is small and portable it doesn’t work. So that I’ve opened and used it I doubt I’ll be able to return it. Don’t waste your time or money.

Hi,
I have a 3 years old swing maxi double pump. I'm about to need it again and would like to get new parts but everywhere is out of stock. One distributor suggested I purchase swing maxi flex parts but can't confirm whether these are compatible with the old swing maxi pump.
Could you please confirm whether the tubing and connectors for the swing maxi flex are compatible with the swing maxi pump old model?
I've tried calling medela several times but the call always gets disconnected at the 5 minutes mark.
Thanks
Hi Laura,
Apologies for our slow reply, and that you’re having difficulties getting through to our Customer Service Team. Unfortunately, the parts are no longer available. We can suggest upgrading to the Swing Maxi Flex connector.
You will need to purchase
- 101041898 (PersonalFit Flex™ Connector (pack of 2),
- 101041914 (Swing Maxi & Freestyle Flex™ Tubing), or 101034003 (Swing Maxi Flex™ tubing)
- A Personalfit Flex breast shield S, M ,L & XL 101041851/2/3/4 if you need a new shield, although the ones you have are compatible.
All are available on our Webstore at www.medelastore.com.au

Hi. I am in Dubai and I have a medela maxi swing which is 5 years old. I need new spare parts which are currently not available. Is there any other model spare parts which i can use?
Hi Vaishali,
Thanks for asking! We do have spare parts you can use, the best thing to do would be to either call our customer services team directly on +61 (0) 3 9552 8600 and they will be able to tell you exactly what you need, unfortunately we only ship to Australia, so you will need to contact your local distributor for parts.

Hi Vaishali,
I'm on the same boat. Can you share the parts they recommended for you please?
Hi, I have Medela maxi flex double electric pump. Size of the flange that came with the pump was 24 mm. I didn’t know that there are different flange sizes available. Now I realised that my nipples are too big and they rub against the wall of flange and it hurts a lot. I just found that there are different size flanges available. How can I change the flange? If I want to use 27 mm flange, does it for the existing connector or do I have to buy a new connector too?
Hi Priyal, thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing pain with the Medium size breast shield. You can purchase the size Large (27mm) from our webstore via the link below, or at your local Baby Bunting/ Chemist Warehouse. You do not need to purchase a new connector or any other accessories.
Kindest Regards,
Natasha
