Average returns. Terrible customer service. Over a month to transfer funds to SMSF.

Very negative – Do not recommend. All I'm trying to do is sign up. It takes my to a pdf that I have to send to an email address. I never heard back. I called them and was told to send the pdf to a different email address, and that I'd hear back with 24-48 hours. I never heard back. I waited a few days. I called again, and was was told the issue would be escalated, and that I'd hear back in 24 hours. I never heard back. Waste of time

Terrible customer service – I’ve been trying to get a super membership number for so long now it looks like we might not get paid as the job is terminated. Terrible customer service and a terrible company. Don’t go with them they are 3rd world.

The absolute worst Super Fund to deal with – I've been trying for nearly 2 years to have MY funds (not theirs). Requested documentation has been supplied multiple times and always the response is the same. "We're unable to process your application because...." Look, there are plenty of good superfunds around, this is not one of them.

Nothing but grief ...Stay away from Media Super – My relative has been trying to work with these goons for over 6 months. Trying to access the funds to be I rolled over to anotber super fund. They said recently that they have no ID despite my relative having a letter stating thst they have received it. My relative has called numerous times and emailed. No one is responsible there. Can't find… Read more

Name change and rollover – I have request to have my name changed from marrried to maiden name. Sent in all required documents that had been certified and a form that I filled out requesting the name change. Then got a letter saying I needed to send in these documents again. And that I had sent in copies of my certified copies which was wrong. I sent copies of my originals.… Read more

I then changed super funds and now they refuse to rollover my money to the new account because my name is different. And are now requesting I change my name and resend the forms and documents as they have lost them. I have been with these guys for 15yrs. And have been treated like this. I will not deal with them again after this is sorted.

Mediocre Super - The Ultimate Test of Patience. More relief taking a Pooh than dealing with these clowns – Media Super, what can I say? It's 2023, and it seems like they are still working as if the internet hasn't been invented yet. The fact that it took several days to process an email is simply unacceptable. What's worse is that the email didn't even arrive, forcing me to call in. And let me tell you, that call was an absolute nightmare. Firstly,… Read more

the person on the other end had a thick accent, which made it difficult to understand them. But that was the least of my worries. The person had an even thicker personality and seemed to be playing games with me throughout the call. They claimed no supervisors were available, which turned out to be a lie. Then they said they would touch base with the supervisor, only to come back with another story about why they couldn't be contacted.

But what takes the cake is that the person refused to provide me with a call reference number. Apparently, it's "illegal" to ask for their employee number, which sounds like another lie to me. How can a super company not provide a reference number to a call? It's outrageous.

And don't even get me started on the fact that they take five days to respond to emails. In this day and age, that's simply unacceptable. The lack of tracking and reference numbers adds insult to injury.

So, my advice to anyone considering joining Media Super is simple: don't. Just run as far away from this company as you can. Their outdated practices and terrible customer service make them a liability rather than an asset. Save yourself the hassle and find a better super company.

Terrible Company to deal with – Attempting to do a rollover for a mutual client is a nightmare. Media Super will do all it can to avoid paying out members funds I have found. I work for an external adviser and Media Super are not helpful at all.

Absolutely Pathetic – I have been a member of Media Super for 10+ years, recently retired and have had numerous issues trying to deposit funds and then more latterly trying to transfer those funds into a pension account. I assume that Media Super outsource their “back office” function going by the very poor terrible customer service I have received. Think Telstra… Read more

“customer support” and you will get the picture. I have had 9 months of absolute incompetence-conflicting/contradictory information and responses dealing with Media Super. I am still waiting for responses (for information/clarification requirements needed for taxation related issues) to several emails I sent numerous months ago and am absolutely over this organisation. I believe that Media Super is merging with another (hopefully more professional) organisation. I DO NOT recommend anyone join this super fund. There are numerous, much more professional funds available. Join this super fund so at your own risk. Only positive is their returns and fees are slightly above industry standards. Seriously considered moving funds but death benefits for the next couple of years kept me a member.

Terrible response to enquiries – I live abroad in South Africa where the postal service can't be trusted. I need to send ID documents and forms to Media Super and therefore need an street address for a courier not a P.O. Box. Most of my online enquiries are incompletely answered and I'm told I have to phone them for the address. The trouble is they have extra long queues on… Read more

Cant get MY money – Completed a withdrawal form and sent to Media Super with certified ID - first I was told it would take 10 working days, when I phoned back after 10 working days, they advised they couldn't process it because I had left a digit off the date. I needed to re-do paperwork and send to them again and they will review and process. All of my details were correct, I had filled in every box and question.....ridiculous

Their poor data entry stops me accessing my super – I filled in a form two years ago. I correctly entered my name however it wasn’t entered correctly - with a hyphen. Now I have to prove my ‘name change’ in order to move my super to a much better fund. I have tried speaking to customer service a number of times but they don’t seem to understand that you can do a job for one day and not necessarily… Read more

Media Super: Don't Go There – There is so much that is wrong with Media Super it is hard to know where to start. I’ll try to keep to the main points and not let the emotion creep in, though the overall impact of dealing with this company meant I needed to seek phycological support. JUST Media Super transferred all their members to Media Super so I was a member since it was… Read more

established. When I reached the age where I could withdraw my super, I began the process. This involved ringing them, since in order to withdraw one’s funds, that was the advice their online portal gave. That phone call was the start of a drawn out 8 month process that involved many calls to Media Super where I was given incorrect information. This ascertain is based on actual transcribes of these conversations. During the process of trying to get my superannuation out of my account I was also on many occasions, referred to offshore Media Super representatives who had no understanding of my situation or indeed Media Super’s protocols. I eventually sought the assistance of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority who were terrific and ultimately successful in resolving the issue. Media Super eventually owned up to their mistake and released all of my due funds to me. I am now a member of another superannuation fund. I never want to put myself through that again. In summation: Media Super - don’t go there!

Dodgy super company – My daughter was a member of this fund whilst in casual employment They automatically take out income protection and insurance fees. We had to complete a form for these fees to cease. When all the money is exhausted they close the account and reopen a new one and once again start taking out fees again. They did this 3 times. Trying to contact them is almost impossible. Avoid this company

Poor experience, high fees, would not recommend – This business doesn't work for it's members it is all profit. They have very high fees and poor communication. When I have queried their monthly fees and wanted to complain, I was told during 'investigations' into my complaint fees could be waived, as I said I might as well close the account now and then lodge a complaint. Then Media Super changed… Read more

their mind "because, legislatively, they could" after taking more fees for three months whilst they took maximum time to "investigate" my complaint. For a small value account of a few hundred dollars to leave I need to pay a $60 fee. Plus I have lost over 6 months in additional fees for their 3 month 'investigation' and now an 'AFCA' process of at least three months. In the end Media Super will keep approximately 2/3 of the amount of money deposited with the account keeper (who is well above preservation age) getting only 1/3. Not recommended, steer clear.

Worst customer service ever experienced – Attempting to contact this fund and obtain basic information is akin to pulling teeth, as a loyal member for some years now I would have anticipated better. Their performance and insurance coverage options are completely rubbish too. Steer clear.

Casual Workers NOT Covered by Media Super Death & TPD Insurance – Warning to all media super insurance policy holders. You will NOT be covered for Death & TPD claims if you work in "industries with high level of seasonal or casual workforce". This advice comes directly from Media Super. You will also not be covered if you work in an "excluded" occupation. Media Super has advised they cannot provide a FULL list… Read more

of excluded occupations. Therefore in the event of a claim, the underwriters Mercer can reject your claim by saying you are working in an excluded occupation at their SOLE DISCRETION. I advise all members currently paying insurance premiums to urgently review their insurance policies & go to other reputable companies who cover employees working in casual/seasonal industries & who can provide a full list of exclusions in advance. Media Super members should also question why their fund does not cover their members - many of whom work in an increasingly casualised workforce.

Better than any Retail Fund – I rolled over from a Retail Fund that treated my money like a trip to the casino and produced negative returns three years in a row and average returns for the next three. Look elsewhere – I have been employed for over 40 years and never encountered a more incompetent company than this. They are great at taking your money and charging fees but just wait until you want to withdraw your money. Try another fund to avoid disappointment or self manage your superannuation. You earned the money, not them. Incompetent, unhelpful

OK – This is a sole industry fund but it is not too bad when compared to others out there. The fees are reasonable and it does do the job that you want. OK – As a former Just Super customer whose money was rolled into Media Super when Just and Print Super merged, I had high hopes for Media Super.
