Got legal letter from the company because write a bad but honest review – I bought their spot gum engineered timber floor and it expand when it's rain and come back when sunny, we left enough gap and install correct. I try to get them come check the problem, but they keep saying it's because of the house is wet but my house is new house and we have licensed builder. The manager hang off the phone when we talk. sales tell me the floor from Malaysia but material from Australia. I think it is not very good quality (got a legal letter from the company ask me to remove the review from google and pay them 1000 legal fee. Pretty surprised in this country free of speech will be dangerous and costly thing now. I promise everything i say is true. I didn't exaggerate anything. I am not got delete the review because the solicitor letter and i hope more people see it.
Good price and floors have held up well – We had solid spotted gum flooring laid in our home about six years ago. MFD's price was considerably cheaper that other companies we contacted and, importantly for us, they were able to do the job quickly. Because of the cheaper price the timber was not select grade and there was a fair bit of colour variation and knots etc, but the floors look… Read more
beautiful and have held up really well to our two active boys. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the number of short (i.e. <1m) lengths that were used. I hadn't asked at the time of purchase about the board length and will remember this if we ever lay timber floors again. We had a hole develop in one board some time after they were laid, and the company was quick to come out and fill and sand it. I would use the company again - subject to the question of board length.
Warning!! Do not use these people – We had floors laid 10months ago and within 3 weeks they had started to warp & cup. The owner & manager have been giving us the run around ever since. Each saying the other would return our calls, and that the floors have failed as there was too much UV light, what the?? We have threatened VCAT, solicitors, consumer affairs but they just don't care!! Do not use Melbourne Floors Direct Bad service, faulty product
Terrible Product and Service – Purchased a new unit in December 2012 which had timber flooring layed by Melbourne Floor Direct . Over the xmas period the floor lifted considerably and squeaked all over. Early 2013 the total floor was replaced but sections started to lift again shortly after. These sections were again replaced but the floor is now uneven and sqeaks all… Read more
over.
Now July 2013 and still waiting for floor to be rectified .
Owner unresponsive and will now take matter to Consumer Affairs.
Do not use this company .
Terrible quality and service - uneven and squeaking timber floor.
Huge mistake – We purchased engineered spotted gum boards for our living area. It looked great when it was installed. But two weeks later the boards started warping. We called the company and were told that it was sun damage? Surely this is not reasonable. More and more gaps started appearing. Areas started cupping, others warped. Boards have split down the… Read more
middle. Gaps are every where. It looks horrible now. 4 months later the company has not apologised or made a single move to fix the problem. They keep fobbing off my calls and saying we will call you back but never do!
Expensive and can't handle Australian sun even with blinds down! Bad warranty service. Worst customer service I have ever encountered
