A big thankyou to Oliver Trowbridge for the workmanship on our en-suite and main shower. Oliver is very knowledgeable and courteous and maintains a very high standard . I have recommended Oliver to friends and family and will continue to do so in the future. We are very happy with the service we received from Oliver and the products used to refresh and seal both showers. Show reply

Service intially positive with a site visit and quote. Quote was accepted but then problems began. Person who came to complete job was different to person who viewed the job and prepared the quote so there were different understandings. Person doing the job tried to contact me 1-2 hours before job to change the time. Anyway, he completed the job… Read more

by replacing the sealant colour that had been intially applied (white). However, this was part of the problem as the colour chosen was inconsistent with the tile colour. My understanding was that the colour of the repalcement sealant would match the shower tiles. This didn't happen. To his credit the guy completing the job realised the oversight of the person who had provided the quote not specifying the sealant colour. He removed the sealant he had applied and used a colour that was closer to the colour of the tiles. However, this was not a colour (grey) close to the tile colour (brown). His water cleanup job on the tiles was also shabby. To avoid confrontation (this guy seemed to be getting angry) I accepted the job that had been done. When the tradie left I noticed that a corner of the shower prone to leakage where the sealant was to be replaced had not been repaired. I contacted the original guy who provided the quote twice to rectify this...he did not respond to my messages. I had to go to Bunnings to get some sealant and finisht the job myself. C'mon Tile Rescue...you guys are the experts. You should know that sealant will ideally match the colour of tiles in a shower as closely as possible.....and you should also make an effort to complete sealing jobs professionally, particularly in corner areas prone to water damage. I paid the invoice minus the cost of completing the job.

We used Huw Rosenberg from Gold Coast South and he was fantastic. We initially wanted the wall tiles regrouted and the floor cleaned, but Huw ended up doing much more. and he was able to do some extras for us such as replacing broken tiles, replacing taps and a shower screen installation that we did not have time to do as we were from Sydney. I genuinely felt I could trust that I was getting a fair price for an exceptional result. The before and after photos are below.

I highly will Appreciate Tile Rescue, Raj Patel to do any work with your bathroom and shower tile grouting, and epoxy grouting, silicone sealing. Very proffesional cleaning of tiles after Removal of existing grout, proper room sealing to avoid dust, took 2 men to complete the job. I am extremely happy and pleased with their work, and would recommend others to go with Raj and Team, Thanks very much. Show details ·  1

Based on my experience, I would recommend closely checking all work before final payment, particularly for investment properties. I also felt there was limited proactive communication regarding other areas that may have required attention.

Before I start I just want the public to know I was in mediation with them for 1.5 months to see if they would resolve anything. Cut a long story short, nothing was remediated, and they directly asked me to be a decent human and not post my review, but i feel compelled to tell the truth about my experience so that people can have a very honest… Read more

view of my experience and what you may experience.

Let’s first start with something very important. Tile rescue have no power over their franchisees so you will be at the mercy of the franchisee who does your work. This means if you have any real issues, head office can’t do anything for you and you are at the mercy of the technician who did you work.

I won’t call out the franchisee who did my work because he is a decent person. Let’s focus on the product and what happened.

I hired them to so 2 showers repairs in different properties. The first property was a full new epoxy and seal across walls and floors of shower. Water was getting under the tiles so just needed everything sealed again. The technician went out and quoted, told me no issues and was confident the job would be easy. He did the work, but complained as he invoiced me that the shower was small and tight so cosmetically it may not be the best quality work. I have this place rented to a tenant so was unable to inspect. I asked would this affect the integrity of the sealing and he said no but usually I remove the shower screens for these type of showers then reinstall, so automatically i thought why didn’t you do this for me but are telling me after the repair? This repair costed about $1200 from memory. Anyhow I took his word and thought ok great I will hire him for my other property that actually had a more serious leak.

This shower had a more serious leak where water was dripping downstairs through the floor. Got him out to quote and he said it was an easy fix and just needed epoxy grout. He seemed like a great guy from the previous work and had 5 star reviews on google. This job he said all was needed was the floor to be sealed with epoxy grout including the corners (which i found odd because silicone is usually used here because it is prone to movement in those joints) also first row of wall tiles in shower area re grouted. This costed $875. However before he commenced the work he wanted me to get a pressure test done to ensure pipes etc weren’t leaking which was fair enough although I did tell him this was tested years ago. Called a plumber out who charged $300 for this and no issues found so Tile rescue proceeded with the work. Came to inspect and the worked look OK, definitely not great but passable. The wall tiles did have some chips but they said this is common with the white ceramic tiles I have so i said fair enough. Anyhow let us all dry for 3 days to be extra safe, tested it and water still leaking in the exact same spot and rate. Called him back out and after investigating booked in to redo the worked but wanted to remove shower screen as suspected issue was from there now. So out goes shower screen and to his credit found really bad shower angles and large gaps in the tile where the shower angles go into the wall. So he cut out the plastic shower angles, and filled all gaps with epoxy grout. Few days later tested and good news no more leak. Finally we had a good result. He came back another day to help me put the shower screen back on, like i said he is a great guy. That all happened and somehow we managed to get the old screen back on. I had a tenant moving in the day after so no more testing could be done. I felt so grateful to the technician that I gave him a $400 cash tip because of all the times he came back out and I try to be fair and kind.

Fast forward 6 months later, the tenants left so I went to the property just to do some maintenance and thought to have a look. To my surprise I noticed the epoxy grout starting to crack on the wall to floor joints. So i took some photos and sent to tile rescue. They believe it was just cosmetic. However i had an inkling to do another shower test, and bang water leak again. Nightmare came back. To his credit he came back but needed again to take out the shower screen, so we did and what I saw was pretty bad. Most of the epoxy under the shower rails had completely failed. Washed away, stained, cracked and deteriorated. So water was once again penetrating below the surface but this time it looked even worse.

After much discussion the technician conceded that this couldnt be fixed above tile and needed a full shower renovation. Obviously as well I needed a new shower rail cos it had come on and off too many times now. In that moment i remember thinking to myself this is NOT how epoxy should work as I have used other similar companies. Although epoxy is in my opinion a bandaid solution, it should definitely last more than a few months. Anyhow it was left at that, failed shower, nothing else they could offer, no mentioned of compensation etc and I remember thinking to myself man I gave this guy a $400 tip and I feel so ripped off now.

So after much back and forth thinking I decided to share my experience on productreview because I felt it was really important that others knew of my experience and I personally rely on online reviews to hire people. I felt horrible because I liked the technician on a personal level but also felt very ripped off.

So I posted the review but selected the option of mediation to give the company a chance to respond. To their credit head office acted promptly although my feedback was directly shared with the technician despite me asking to keep it between us for now as I really liked the guy and wanted to see what head office could do.

Manager contacted me and we went through it all for both jobs but focused on the leaking shower. Manager was a nice guy and seemed interested to help, I shared the photos of the failed epoxy and was told it looked like it was mixed incorrectly as it is a 2 part mixed epoxy. Now I am no expert but if a technician is getting this very basic task wrong something is seriously wrong and I could have avoided this situation if the batch was mixed correctly. They were interested to head back out but as it is all franchisee owners I wouldn’t be able to get someone else to do the work because who would pay for it as I would be liable. They had discussions with the technician who did my work and he wasn’t willing to offer any sort of refund and the crazy thing is I only asked for something not everything because I value peoples time, but not even the portion of the dodgy product?

Anyways back and forth for weeks, them trying to convince the franchisee to refund a bit, him saying no. Me getting the phone calls about them working for on it etc. The communication from them kept slowing and slowing down, especially once they asked me to be a decent human and not post my review. Despite this I contacted another 3 times but nothing was getting done so in my eyes chapter closed, over a month of mediation and clearly they couldn’t do anything and weren’t willing to offer any compensation. So essentially to me mediation is as all about them trying to save face, not ruin reputation but no willingness to compensate which to me just shows they don’t really care.

What this made me think is how many others who had a negative experience that did not post because they were pleaded with not too. But I thought i will be part of the solution, not the problem.

I would warn anyone looking to use their services to have a good think and read of my review and hopefully you can avoid a situation like this. In the end now I spent $5000 to get my shower properly repaired which I am fine with, but if i did not hire tile rescue I would have been able to use that money towards this repair. Interesting that when they quote they don’t tell you it is a hard job, until after they invoice you. Had I known likelyhood of failure there’s no way I would have hired them and done the rebuild from the get go.

Whether some technicians are trained poorly or just have no attention to detail I couldn’t tell you, but one thing I would do is never hire a place like this who can’t hold their franchisees accountable. Because it all comes down to your luck of who services your area.

I 100% expect a bogus response to my review with not all the truth, but please be a good judge of that for yourselves and everything I have is with evidence. Good luck and truly hope no one experiences this.

getting broken which then requires getting new tiles that match the old ones, or changing the whole floor, all of which significantly increases the cost. Michael was very careful and avoided this. Thanks, Michael. Very happy to recommend this company.

Follow-up  · The repair took a couple of hours. After completion I had to avoid that area for a couple of hours to give the grout time to dry out. The grout matched in colour. Michael cleaned up the area very well, I didn't need to do any special cleaning after the work. Michael warned me when he was about to use a noisy tool. I was pleased to see he had ear-protection. A month on from the work, I'm still very happy with the work, as expected.

Poor workmanship and unprofessional quality – We engaged [Name Removed] from Tile Rescue Randwick, to regrout our balcony and front entrance stairs for a total area of approximately 60 square meters. Our goal was to replace the old crumbling grout and to remove efflorescence in a small area. … Read more

Instead of cement grout, [Name Removed] recommended epoxy grout and said it would stop the efflorescence coming up and also would last forever. We were reluctant to use epoxy as we knew nothing about this product. He insisted it would be most suitable and he had done this for 30-40 years and knew what he was doing.

We were quoted over $11,000 for the job which he finished in seven days. On the first day, he removed the old grout with a grinder which left new cuts or chips to over thirty tiles. He started regrouting from the second day onwards. During this time, we had pointed out to [Name Removed] a number of times that the epoxy grout did not fill up the whole grout joint and as a result grout between the tiles were uneven and many areas were dented in. Dirt was collected in the dented in grout joints and caused future maintenance issue. He said that it was due to the grout sank in and he’ll fix it in the final touch up. On the so call completion date, we taped the joints which required attention and demanded that these be fixed on completion. Despite numerous reminders during the job, very little had been done and [Name Removed] claimed that he had already done his best. We also noticed that water was bubbling up through the new epoxy grout in an area where had efflorescence before for which [Name Removed] promised would be fixed after the new epoxy grouting.

[Name Removed] returned five weeks later to fix the above following my complain to Tile Rescue’s State Manager. He was onsite for 4.5 hours and claimed that all required touch ups were completed even though he only topped up approximately one-third of the dented in grout joints.

In my opinion, the whole job was done in a rush and carelessly and with no attention to details. The attached photos are evidence of the poor workmanship and unprofessional quality of the completed work.

Do not be lured into the 100% customer satisfaction guarantee and the brilliant marketing campaign on their website. Read the negative reviews and do your diligent research.

Follow-up  · The epoxy grout began coming off only a few months after the work was completed (see attached video). The uneven grout lines have continued to collect dust and dirt and were never rectified despite being raised. I recommend reading Tile Rescue’s negative reviews before engaging this company, as there is no satisfaction guarantee in practice… Read more

Poor products and workmanship. We had a shower regrouted as the original grout had failed and water had gone into the wall and carpet of the bedroom next door. up 2 tiles on the wall of the shower. After they left we contacted the tenant (it was a rental property) and she advised that no grout had been replaced and the tile rescue staff only silicone the drain, shower rose and taps. After we contacted tile rescue back they confirmed this and the owner came back to do the job that we paid for. He advised that the job would have a 5 year warranty as they used premium grout (their product). We got the wall fixed and replaced the carpet. Less than 5 years later the grout has failed and we have the exact same problem - in the exact same location with the same amount of damage. Initially Tile rescue said they will NOT honour the warranty as they say we used the incorrect cleaning products - the tenant only uses products made for cleaning showers and baths. Tile rescue have now told us we were suppose to use "THERE" cleaning products. The tenant and ourselves were never told this when they quoted, or when they completed the work. Had I known this at the time of the quote, I would never have gone with this company as it would have been to hard to make sure the tenant used "their correct" cleaning product. We know have to fix the shower again and fix the damaged wall and carpet. Amendment: Since writing this review Tile Rescue have contacted us and advised they will fix the bathroom under warranty but not the carpet or wall that was damaged due to the 2nd incident. When I asked how they were going to fix it this time, they advised they would regrout (same as last time). We have now had a 2 builders and a plumber out to look at the bathroom. The advised us that Tile Rescue and any other company should not have advised they could fix this problem by regrouting in the first instance, let a loan the 2nd time as the water proofing has failed under the tiles. Tile Rescue are still saying they can fix this problem with just regrouting the shower. Both builders have said that this is common practice with these regrouting companies - They put a band aid over the problem and the issue is still there. Stay away from this dishonest company. They will tell you anything to get your money.
