I paid a call out fee of $140 to be told in the quote that it was going to cost me $740 to replace a light switch. I could not believe how expensive it was I feel like I was robbed of my $140 call out fee. This is morally wrong to do this to customers.
I wish I read the reviews prior. Everything they are doing is legal but scamming people. Same experience as everyone. Paid the $149 service charge and the electrician promptly came on time. electrician looked for two minutes and said it will be $1,149 to investigate the problem. If the fault is found a seperate quote to fix the problem will be done. This is a scam. No commitment to find or fix the problem that was already explained on the phone and over a thousand dollars for 1 hour effort? Anyway I took my loss on service fee and proceed with another company immediately who who had $300 service charge to attend and included 30 minutes of investigation before per hour effort. They found the issue in no time and I paid $500 though they only asked for $300 in appreciation for a honest work.
Sudden lost of power on a Sunday. Contacted another company, paid a call out fee of $142 which I expected on a Sunday who then sent out an electrician from Metropolitan within an hour which was great. cost of $2300. I nearly fell over. We declined to pay that amount of money and decided to do without power until the next day. After ringing around family and friends who might know an electrician who found one. He came out a few hours later, fixed the burnt out wire within 15 minutes and charged $200.

Crooks, con artists and criminals moonlighting as electricians – Rip off con artists, get you when you are under duress and try to steal thousands. Called an emergency electrician to attend to a blown fuse. Cost to replace fuse $6.35 at Bunnings. Then another 59 for god knows what. Long story short, I realised it was a scam when the young kid who came out wasn't an electrician and asked me to call the call centre to take payment after he quoted Whole thing is a shakedown. This isn't an electrical company, this is a company of crooks. Watch out.

$850 for a light switch – Had to pay $150 to get a guy out to just look at the light switch. He then gave a quote of $850 to repair it & couldn't tell us why it would be so much money. Incredibly over priced. They charge $150 a call out but then quoted literally $1,100 for “testing” not even solving the problem. The issue was a wall socket not working.

The electrician turned out quite late (although I made the call very late) and quote me $1149 for "up to one hour investigation". The work he did wasn't even related to a qualified electrician work, he just plugged and unplugged some devices in my house to find the faulty one (I could do it myself, but I thought the isse may be water related as it was quite a heavy rain the previous night). They sent me a bill quoting some work the technician never did, to justify their steep charges. Stay away of this people, their minimum charge is $1149 even if they don't have to do an electrical work!
Shame It Was Only A Breaker – Today, Feb 17th I had a circuit breaker fail in my switchboard. Quoted nearly $13,000 for relatively simple work which we had already purchased the replacement light fixtures and switch covers for ourselves and the technician said he could complete same day. Went for a second opinion from a local electrician for the same work and quoted $1400. If I could give no stars, I would. Beware and avoid at all costs.

rebook. I called up and no apology nothing, just that I had to book for another day which I declined. Ended up calling western power who came within an hour and fixed the issue. 100% a scam dodgy company. Do not use.
Dylan P saves the day – I cannot praise Dylan P from Mr Emergency more. Over a heat wave he worked diligently to fix the burnt out wiring on my old house. He was clear and precise when making explanations, saved me money and made a horrid experience so much more pleasant. Thank you Dylan.
Rip off – They forced me to pay $141 up front to get a electrician to be sent out. He charged $1.100 to replace a power switch. He worker very slow to show it was a major job it should have been a 19 minutes job. My background is installation manager for major telecommunication sites . Their costs are a rip off

while your prices might be slightly higher, you provided immediate onsite service. I was told that an electrician would arrive between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM the same day as the issue was urgent. However, the technician didn’t arrive until after 8:00 PM. I had already paid $140 for the service, expecting timely assistance, and the delay was unacceptable, especially given the potential danger. I could have arranged for another electrician had I known about the delay.
When the technician finally arrived, he refused to investigate the issue unless I agreed to a $1,100 charge for one hour of his time. Given that the issue posed a fire hazard, we had no choice but to agree. However, the technician essentially did nothing. He only checked the main switchboards and switched off the aircon (which I had already turned off for safety) and advised that it should be fine. I requested a detailed report, but the invoice only mentioned the checks on the mains.
The same night, the popping sound and flash of light returned, continuing for another week, multiple times a day. When I finally had another electrician inspect the unit, he discovered an exposed live wire near the outdoor unit, which he promptly capped off after switching off the mains. He showed me the burnt part of the wire and explained how lucky we were that our weatherboard house hadn’t caught fire. He completed the fix in just 5 minutes and charged $118 for the repair, which was done properly.
To make matters worse, I contacted Metropolitan customer service three times, speaking to different representatives, and was told to email customer service for an update. I was informed they couldn’t provide any updates or connect me with someone who could assist. It has now been over a month, and I’ve received no response.
I am extremely upset by the lack of professionalism, poor service, and total disregard for customer satisfaction and the daylight ROBBERY of my money leaving us with a potential Fire hazard when I have a wife and 2 little kids in the house. I would not recommend Metropolitan to anyone and strongly advise seeking service elsewhere.
For Metropolitan I suggest someone contact me immediately regarding my refund for Job Number SA-306371 OR I will formally lay a complaint to the ACCC.

Too expensive, go elsewhere – Had to pay $140 for a quote, which was 5x more expensive than any other electrician. They wanted more than $5,000 to install a couple of ceiling fans! Got someone else for less than a grand. They are a rip-off, even their representative recommended we shop around.

Quoted $2139 for basic ceiling fan installation! – I called to have a ceiling fan installed where a light fitting currently was. I was told the call out fee to get a quote the next day was $141. Or gave another option for their “silver service” for $1049… We declined and went elsewhere. I had my ceiling fan installed for $300 by a different business.
