Very disappointing experience with MG. My ZS Electric Vehicle stopped in the middle of the road and was towed to the MG service centre, where it took nearly two months to fix. The biggest frustration was the poor communication. Emails and calls were not responded to, leaving me constantly chasing for updates without knowing the actual issue or… Read more

when I would get my car back. The lack of transparency and customer support made an already stressful situation even worse. Based on this experience, I would not recommend MG to anyone.

Hi all, just venting about my situation. Back in July my car had some major fault where all the sensors went offline and the steering wheel decided to turn left. It was this way for two hours. I had to use some muscle to keep control of the car. The dealership couldn’t find any error logs to show what happened and they had it in the shop for five… Read more

weeks now trying to reproduce the incident.

MG Australia and the dealership (MG Waverley) want me to take the car back and keep driving it until it happens again and hope that the logs record it or there is some witness to prove that it’s doing this odd behaviour. I’m not keen to take the car back or to test it in fear of it happening on the highway. I don’t want to damage another car, put my children in harms way or kill anyone else to test this car.

Just wondering if anyone else had this issue.

I have some webcam footage from the event, but the audio didn’t record and it doesn’t capture the screen and steering wheel. So no proof of all the systems going offline or the steering wheel taking control. I put the webcam footage on YouTube.

It’s a bummer of a situation. I have an MG ZS EV 2023.

Unfortunately 1 is the lowest rating possible. A rating of zero or lower would be more accurate. Some reasonably adequate adjectives for this person [Name Removed] who claims to be the Sales Manager and represents MG Bunbury. Disgraceful, exploitative, rude, arrogant, uncaring, greedy for sale....... Once they have your hard earned money and you… Read more

want to be treated like absolute rubbish, get ripped off and sold a non-working, BRAND NEW car then this is definitely the place to shop. If you search you can find many, many 1 star ratings for MG. Bunbury MG certainly lives up to the MG reputation. This company, Bunbury MG - including the person who claimed to be the Sales Manager - [Name Removed] (Maybe to maybe too many letters in his name) have greedily exploited a single older woman and sold a new car which has been off the road for several weeks because it is inoperable - Correct, yes, a BRAND NEW car. The MG Bunbury Dealership has had the vehicle for over a month to rectify it (2 months after delivery of it BRAND NEW) for this time is was apparently being 'repaired'. Yes - a 2 month old car has been back at the MG Dealership for over a month with absolutely no indication from MG Bunbury as to any progress, repairs, etc. Yes, correct - Zero, Nada, Zilch communication to the lady buyer for over a month. So after spending tens of thousands of dollars and informing the dealership of going to hospital for major surgery she has been ignored and treated with zero compassion and nothing other than absolute contempt. Angus did tell her he could sell her a new car but she'd have to "pay more money to get a new one". Absolutely atrocious and disgraceful business dealing - She already had a new car which Bunbury MG did not repair in over a month but she's told she needs to pay for a new car? She was also told that she was "welcome to contact MG Australia and get them to handle this". This is illegal as the contract was with the dealership - they cannot negate their legal responsibility to provide the product sold by them. The lady was also told by [Name Removed] that "You should be thankful" over some aspect of the dealings with MG. The above quotes can all be verified. The lady has requested a refund and Bunbury MG legal people are apparently getting back to her in '7 days.' So after several weeks Bunbury MG having her car, major surgery, recovery in progress the nice people at Bunbury MG are still making her wait. And to add more clarification: At the behest of Bunbury MG a letter was sent to MG Australia requesting a reply within 3 days. The reply from MG Australia took OVER A MONTH. It gave no firm resolution to the problem other than looking into it.

Sunco Motors & MG Australia = The "No Fault Found" Masterclass Dangerous car, warranty "peace of mind" turned into a 6-month (and counting) nightmare without wheels. Bought 2021 MG3 from Sunshine Coast MG/Sunco in 2023. Attracted by that sweet 7-year warranty. Spoiler: the warranty is only useful if they admit faults exist. The "No Fault Found"… Read more

Gaslighting Timeline: - Issues from the start - Every issue met with "no fault found" - Fuel leaks started 8 months ago - MG Australia required fire department attendance before authorising tow - Fire department confirms fuel leak. Sunco? "No fault found" - Constant fuel smell, more leaks, back to service centre: "No fault found" - Entire tank leaked while parked.

Plot twist: Multiple people (fire department, independent mechanic, myself, partner, friends) have seen, smelled, photographed, and/or videoed fuel leaks. Visible stains on undercarriage. But Sunco's entire service centre team somehow can't find what everyone else can see, with the car on a hoist and visible stains?

Either they need new glasses or new business practices (I'll let you guess which).

Oh, and there's a national recall notice for fuel tank defects for this exact model. But sure, my car's totally fine.

Their latest gem: Not a "fuel leak," just "some form of liquid filmed dripping from car to the ground." Comedy gold. What else drips from a fuel system? Hopes and dreams?

Exercised consumer rights under Australian Consumer Law for refund. Refused.

Currently QCAT proceedings. They're still denying everything despite documentary evidence. Shocking absolutely no one.

Read other reviews. Check social media. There's a pattern here that's harder to deny than my fuel leak.

If you value your safety, your money, and your sanity: look elsewhere. And if you do buy here, document EVERYTHING from day one. You'll need it for the tribunal hearing.

Aside from them making me call the fire department 6 months ago, MG Australia have ignored every single message and email since (including emailing CEO directly), despite promises of "we'll get back to you within 24 hours".

The ok news: QCAT exists. The bad news: You'll need it.

No shift lock release has been installed – This means if your car breaks down due to electrical failure, this is impossible to even a tow track to move it . The wheels completely will be locked. Please before to get late and you stock somewhere notify the authorities. Refer to the picture nothing is there.

MG is rubbish – Bought a brand new MG for our daughter’s 21st. Sales service was excellent. After service is non-existent. In crux: This product is rubbish, check out their website feedback.

My experience with a brand-new MG HS Hybrid has raised serious concerns about MG’s quality control and pre-delivery standards. After a five-week wait, a replacement vehicle was provided, but on collection it immediately experienced… Read more

technical issues and required 15 days in the service centre for repairs. While I appreciate that issues can occur with any vehicle, having problems with not one, but two brand-new vehicles raises concerns about MG’s quality assurance processes and the standards applied before vehicles reach customers. What should have been an exciting first experience with a new MG has instead resulted in significant inconvenience, lost time, and a loss of confidence in the brand. I hope MG Australia reviews its quality control processes to ensure customers receive the new vehicles they expect and deserve.

Customer Dissatisfaction with MG Dealership and Head Office Practices Initial Complaint and Emotional Distress • I am writing this review to express my absolute disgust and disappointment with Mandurah MG (part of The Lane Group) and MG Motor Australia as a whole. • Beyond their highly unethical and deceptive pricing practices, the sheer lack of… Read more

respect and the immense emotional stress they have caused me is completely unacceptable.

Deceptive Pricing and Contract Manipulation • Summary of Issue & Misleading Conduct: • I took delivery of my EV on July 17, 2026. • According to MG Motor Australia’s official July T&C, I was fully entitled to an "EV $500 Accessories Bonus", which can be applied as a $500 price reduction for July deliveries. • When I was signing the final Zero-Balance contract on the day of delivery, I explicitly requested the sales team to apply the official July promotion that was not included in my previous month's order. • However, sales consultant B.C. repeatedly dismissed my request, gaslighting and reassuring me that the July promotional discount had "already been applied and factored into the numbers." • Trusting their verbal assurance, I signed the document. • But upon carefully reviewing the final line items, I realized I had been blatantly lied to. • Mandurah MG simply took my pre-existing June discount (-$1,903.50) and split it into two separate line items (-$1,338.50 and -$454.55 + GST = -$500), falsely labeling my old discount as the "July bonus" while keeping the final drive-away price completely unchanged at $32,685.00.

Unacceptable Response and Lack of Accountability • Severe Emotional Stress & Complete Lack of Respect: • What has made this experience truly painful is their attitude after being caught: • Dismissive & Arrogant Ignorance: When I pointed out their contract manipulation and requested a proper rectification via email, management and sales consultant B.C. completely ghosted me. • They offered no explanation, no apology, and zero accountability.

Corporate Neglect and Deception • Corporate-Wide Silent Treatment (Even from MG Head Office): I escalated this formal complaint directly to MG Motor Australia’s Head Office, expecting some level of corporate governance and customer protection. • Shockingly, MG Head Office has also completely ignored my emails, showing the exact same irresponsible and dismissive attitude. • It is clear that customer deception runs deep throughout the entire brand.

Emotional Toll of Deceptive Practices • Immense Emotional Drain: Buying a new vehicle should be a joyful milestone. • Instead, dealing with Mandurah MG’s deceptive tricks, deliberate lies on delivery day, and the total silent treatment from both the dealership and the head office has caused me sleepless nights, severe anxiety, and an exhausting amount of mental stress.

Legal Escalation and Consumer Law Violation • Relabeling existing discounts to fake a new promotional benefit after verbally misleading a customer constitutes clear deceptive conduct under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). • Because both Mandurah MG and MG Head Office chose to ignore my formal notices and displayed absolute contempt toward my concerns, I am escalating this matter formally to Consumer Protection Western Australia.

Warning to Potential Buyers • Buyers Beware: Mandurah MG will not hesitate to mislead you to your face on delivery day, manipulate contract numbers to rob you of your legitimate benefits, and treat you with utter disrespect afterward—with the corporate head office turning a blind eye. • Save your sanity and buy elsewhere.

In November last year I brought an 2025 MG ZS Essence HYBRID+. After my first big drive I had noticed the high engine revving & had flagged it the next day where I brought the car from. He had told me that it's a known issue that MG are trying to… Read more

fix with software updates. In the meantime I was told to try it in different modes & different regen settings to see if it's still the same. Still the same engine revving & some areas worse then others, to the point that the car doesn't feel safe to drive. I booked my car in with them so that they could run some tests. At the end of it all the service department said that they did their tests & also contacted MG Australia. I've been told & have documentation stating that's just how the car is meant to run. This car doesn't feel safe to drive & more often than not it doesn't respond how I want it to when I put my foot on the accelerator or it does its own thing. Other issues I've had with the car is that the sunroof rattled/vibrating when closing. The frame was replaced under warranty. Vibration/rattle within the dash on the driver's side. The rear demister only clears up 2/3 of the rear window. I've already looked into trading this car in for something else & sadly financially at the moment I'm not able to do anything till the end of the year and even then I'll still be at a massive loss as trade in value is only between $20-$22k. That's a $13-$15k loss in 12 months. Well les than at the the moment of after having it for only 8 months. This is the 3rd car I've brought brand new & by far is the worst car I've ever had!! I'm so disappointed & wasn't really planning on this happening... But I'll have to bite the bullet & take the loss to get something that feels more safe to drive. I've spoken to my dealership about everything that's wrong with this car & for a BRAND NEW CAR, it shouldn't be this bad & have this many issues. If I knew back then what I know now... I definitely would've brought something else!

Follow-up  · The fuel consumption was good... Ranging between 800-850km per tank & inside the car was nice and comfortable. All those creature comforts didn't make up for the way the car drove & preformed. I definitely did try other models before making a decision but value for money & all the features this car had I could resist. I was strongly leaning… Read more

What was most disappointing was the lack of accountability and empathy. When I explained I had missed work, a staff member told my partner , “She could just go to work now. Nobody’s stopping her,” which was dismissive and unprofessional.

my IM6 on the 3rd June. Again salesperson and manager told me the charger is on back order and will be available in 2 weeks from car pickup date.

I had my IM6 booked in for its 1000km complimentary inspection on the 1st July (4 weeks later) and as I have not had a call regarding the charger I'd follow up with them while I'm at the dealership.

Parts department said nothing noted on sales contract so I had to go over to new car sales department to see what was happening. Followed up with new car sales manager and said it was a internal error on MG's end and should have been on there and he would sort it out. Manager called parts department to organise a charger allocation for me due to internal error on MG's end. Parts department said they had a order of chargers coming in 2 weeks(around the 15th July) and they would call me once it arrives.

Now as of today it has been 4 weeks. I've called parts department regarding the charger only to be told it's not on the order contract (yes you and i already know that) saying I need to call sales department.

I ring sales department only to be told both salesperson and new car sales manager have left the company and that they can't do anything till a new manager is appointed.

Tried calling parts department back and now no one answers the phone.

Very disappointed with the constant run around and how this dealership has handled this situation. Classic Bait Advertising.(failed promotion fulfillment)

Would I recommend this dealership. Absolutely not!!

removed from sale in Australia, if everyone stopped buying these cars and existing owners lodge complaints with the ACCC and State Consumer Regulators we could get rid of this rubbish MG brand in Australia. My immediate family have owned new MG ZS EV, MG3 Hybrid+ and MG5 EV. All had too many issues and problems to list here including life threatening failures which MG service refused to acknowledge and fix. The standard response which I’m sure many MG owners have been given is “fault not found on testing” or “within normal operation”. All have since been sold to a dealer within 12 to 18 months ownership at a significant finically loss. I and others will continue and repeatedly post this in comments on every FB post and reviews until MG stop selling dud, faulty, lemon cars in Australia and fix, replace or refund every dud, faulty car sold in Australia.

licensed dealer.

Following the dealership’s instructions, I paid $355.25 out of my own pocket for an independent diagnostic inspection. The specialist workshop identified multiple transmission-related fault codes and recommended further investigation. I promptly provided the report to the dealership and repeatedly requested assistance.

Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, I was met with delays, poor communication, and no clear plan to diagnose or fix the problem. I have spent my own time and money trying to identify faults that appeared shortly after purchase, while the dealership has failed to take meaningful action.

What makes this even more frustrating is that I have been forced to chase responses while being left with a vehicle that is unreliable and not performing as represented. A customer should not have to fight this hard simply to have serious faults properly investigated.

I am now escalating the matter through Consumer Protection and pursuing my rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from this dealership conduct an independent pre-purchase inspection and carefully consider how after-sales issues may be handled if something goes wrong.

I purchased a brand new 2026 MG4 Essence 64… Read more

on May 8th, 2026, and it has been plagued with critical, unsafe defects from the day I drove it out of the showroom.

The Vehicle Defects:

Severe Safety Issue: Dangerous "phantom braking" where the car abruptly brakes unprompted at highway speeds.

Total Assistance Failure: The Radar Cruise Control has completely failed.

Defective MG Pilot: Custom settings do not work, and the Lane Departure Warning significantly interferes even when explicitly deselected.

Mechanical Failure: The bonnet latch ceased working just two weeks after delivery (however that was resolved May 29, 2026).

Software Glitches: Frequent Android Auto dropouts and a malfunctioning heated steering wheel icon.

The Dealership & Manufacturer Response:

I returned the car to Redcliffe MG just three weeks after purchase, May 29th, 2026. They have now had this vehicle for three weeks (and counting) for extensive diagnostic testing and have resorted to ordering a completely new steering rack from China, which will apparently be at Redcliffe MG service department by the end of June 2026. Despite these compounding issues, MG Australia Customer Care, the Sales Manager, and the Dealer Principal at Redcliffe MG have officially denied my request for a full refund and incurred costs. MG Australia claims these faults do not constitute a "major failure" under Australian Consumer Law—a claim that is insulting given that phantom braking at 100km/h is a catastrophic safety hazard. There is zero customer care at MG. I tried on many occasions to get a response from MG Customer Care via their complaints email portal and received nothing. The only time I have been able to successfully speak to someone at "customer care" was when I was on hold for over half an hour. I was told that a large number of people had resigned and they were short staffed, hence the reason they haven't responded yet. I wonder why that is? It would appear that even their employees can see that the writing is on the wall and that MG is a completely RUBBISH product! Once they have your money, you are on your own. Do not risk your money or your safety with this brand. Avoid Redcliffe MG. Avoid ANY MG branded vehicles. Please do not make my mistake!!

Seven weeks ago I was assured by the Service manager at Wangara MG that my warranty issues with my MG were all sorted. Faulty driver seat and Distance to Empty Indicator and Fuel Gauge issues. Unfortunately within a few days they were back and on contacting him my vehicle had to be booked back in for repairs. The Service Manager took all the… Read more

details and made the booking for 5 weeks hence. When I arrived Monday, no booking, no paperwork and the Service Manager moved on to another position within the company. Eventually I was promised by the principal dealer that a complete new seat would be fitted and the faulty fuel gauge rectified... a new fuel sensor was meant to be put in 7 weeks earlier. 5 days later, the new seat will not fit as its a 2026 spec, mine is a 2025 vehicle...oops! They could not find an issue with the Distance to Empty Indicator..... that was fixed 7 weeks ago when they rebooted the system, not replace the sensor. Unfortunately they had not repaired the faulty fuel gauge which reads 3/4 full but the tank only has 1/4 tank of fuel in it.... They found that despite me being told there was no evidence of the fuel sensor being replaced! Now I have to wait for them to locate a complete 2025 drivers seat and have it delivered to WA, if one is available and they need to order and fit a new fuel sensor....... wonder how long all of this will take! Just indicative of the service at Wangara MG

We purchased a brand new MG HS from Trinity MG in Cairns, we owned the car for 2 months and had a native rat chew through the brake vacuum hose on the top of the engine, MG now advise that this part for this brand new car isn't available in Australia and it will be at least 8 weeks before we can get a replacement part, no reply from MG Australia… Read more

head office when we tried to contact them direct and now left up to the dealer to get the part to us in 2 months time. After researching the brand MG here in Australia, it seems we are not the only ones that cannot get parts in a reasonable time frame from MG. NOT HAPPY MG AUSTRALIA

I am very disappointed with my recent experience at Motorama MG Moorooka regarding ongoing issues with my MG ZS. On 22 April 2026, I took my vehicle in for: Loud braking noise from both sides Bluetooth call interruptions/crackling I was advised that brake pads and rotors required replacement, and I paid approximately AUD $1,447 for the repair. … Read more

However, after collecting the vehicle:

The original noise issue was still present A new noise developed from the right-hand side

I returned again on 6 May 2026, where the dealership diagnosed a grinding right-hand front wheel bearing and replaced it under warranty.

Despite this:

The noise issue still appears unresolved The Bluetooth issue also continues Communication from the service centre has been poor

On the day of collection, I was promised updates but received no calls. Multiple attempts to contact the service centre went unanswered. I was eventually informed that after-hours key collection arrangements had changed while I was already on my way there.

This process has caused significant inconvenience, including:

Over $280 in Uber expenses Time away from work Missed family commitments

I acknowledge the dealership also recommended tyre replacement previously; however, tyre condition was not initially identified as the cause of the braking noise before I approved the brake repair.

At this stage, my frustration is not only with the unresolved vehicle issues after significant expense, but also the lack of communication and overall customer experience. I also attempted to resolve the matter directly via email; however, the response received focused mainly on tyre condition despite previous brake and warranty repairs already being carried out for the same ongoing issue.

I hope the dealership and MG Australia take this matter seriously and work towards a proper resolution.
