Moos like a cow – The fridge makes noise like a cow mooing. I had the service tech to come over and he said it was a normal fridge sound. I totally disagree. A fridge makes compressor noises and not sound like some alien living in the fridge. The Midea rep called and said that these are normal sounds. Sorry, not in my house. I will never buy another fridge from Midea.

Just Absolute Rubbish – All I can say is, never, ever buy one of these midea fridges. Not suprised to see that this one has been discontinued. My father bought one of these a few years ago because our old kelvinator packed it in after 28 years service. We were strapped for cash at the time, so our eyes went straight to the price tag. As stated in other reviews, this is… Read more

an extremely unreliable brand, at least this particular model anyway.

From Harvey Norman:

Kelvinator: $899

This similar sized Midea: $599

Well didn't that decision to buy the midea come back to bite us.

The fridge was actually really quite good for the first 4-6 months or so, it kept good temperature in all compartments and fit perfectly in our fridge enclosure. Plenty of space for all our goods and we were satisfied with the purchase. However, the first problems came about 6 months in. One day we noticed that the freezer completely iced up and just stopped working. After de-icing it to no avail, we called up the Midea service guy and he replaced a part under warranty for free. Service quite good, but shouldn't have failed in the first place nonetheless. This was just the start of our issues however. We had to call out the fridge mechanic at least 2 more times for the same issue during the warranty period, which is insane. Also, the fridge is so cheaply made that the light switch broke out of warranty so we didn't even bother to get it fixed lol. Also, on the coldest setting it cycled from sometimes being "beautiful and freezing" to just "ok", which makes no sense. I believe there was an issue with the refrigerant or compressor, where it would only cool properly half the time. However what comes next takes the cake.

One day I was about to walk out to school but quickly returned to the fridge just to get a drink of water. I opened the fridge but it just wouldn't budge. It would open a tiny way then would resist opening any more. I had to get to school and was confused, so I yanked a bit harder and to my surprise, the ENTIRE bottom door fell off HAHA. We had tiles, so there was a massive smash sound as the door planted onto the tiles (thankfully none broken). I noticed that the entire hinge was totally rotten and all the plastic junk was completely shot. Needless to say my father had had enough of all the troubles with the fridge. He went down to the whitegoods store that afternoon and bought a kelvinator for $400 extra. 8 years in and we've had absolutely no problems. Today, me and my dad still have a good laugh at the door falling off, and this cheap chinese made junk fridge in general.

Moral of the story: You pay peanuts you get monkeys. Pay a bit extra for something thats going to last, not fall apart after two years.

Continually breaks down, unreliable brand – We know exactly what's wrong with the fridge, the door has dropped therefore not sealing the fridge properly causing it to malfunction. We have been fighting with Harvey Norman, Midea and countless other mobs trying to get it fixed and I am now going to Fair Trading NSW. Harvey norman did not stand by their extended warranty, this is an unreliable, cheap and nasty brand.
