I’ve had mine for over 10 years and never had any issues although I do an internal cleaning every few years, I find the lint catcher a little awkward but at 2kw per cycle I’m very happy Show details
Problems from day one – This dryer should never have been release for sale no wonder it’s discontinued! Nothing but problems from day one! And you still want more money for another callout fee! NO Way! So many parts have been replaced from the mother board to belts over and over again no more Miele for me Show details
12 years and no issues – It's worked for over 12 years now and like new still. We only use it when the weather is bad as I prefer to hang my clothes to dry. Really happy with it. It tells you if you forget to empty the filters or water tray. Show details
Not built to last. Bad design for repairs – We have a Miele Edition 111 T 8861 WP dryer. Given the ‘designed for the equivalent of 20 years of normal use’ claims Miele make on their website, I was expecting that if the dryer did develop a fault it would be designed to be repaired. No apparently. The whole heat pump system can only be replaced as a complete module, and Miele has to… Read more
disassemble virtually the whole machine to fit it. It will cost more than a new dryer to repair. Quoted approx. $2,500 for a full fix. An otherwise mint condition Miele Edition 111 T 8861 WP has to be disposed of, simply because it hasn’t been designed to be repaired in a cost effective manner. Really disappointed at how wasteful this approach is.
Drum has disintegrated – Stainless steel honeycomb drum has split in two, leaving just the moisture centre vent in back affixed to machine and drum hanging. Looked as if it had come away and was repairable , but the drum is 1piece . $600 part fix for something that has faulty design and not fit for purpose, you would swear it has been laser cut perfectly away... very poor quality.. very disappointing Show details · 2
6 years and zero problems – Had this dryer for about 6 years and there’s has been no problems. Purchased because it was in a garage with expensive cars and I didn’t want the humidity and fluff. I literally have no idea how the settings work. I just put things in and press start and clean the filter when it prompts. Would do two loads a day, 7 days a week for 6 years.… Read more · 1
Everything comes out dry.
Can’t comment on the other problems listed here but I’d absolutely recommend this dryer.
Dryer stopping after a few seconds – This dryer has been great until recently. The cottons and automatic cycle do not work now. The dryer tumbles for a few seconds, the beeper goes off and it stops. Currently working on the proofing cycle, but this is annoying. Any ideas?
Very dissatisfied with this dryer – Purchased new about 6 years ago. Very disappointed, it has never dried the clothes properly. There Has always been an issue with the sensor drying. They deny this. I can only dry my clothes on hygiene and it goes forever. They tell me too just do it manual on warm setting. What’s the point of sensor dryer then. The serviceman also broke the face… Read more
plate and didn’t bother to order another. I am a loyal Miele product buyer. All my appliances are Miele. I have paid a fortune on repairs and now have to wait until August 2020 to get parts to fix it. Very dissatisfied.

Similar Problem – We also have a Miele Edition 111 T 8861 WP, given to us second hand by my inlaws because our other Miele dryer broke down and we spent a fortune on getting it repaired. Miele came to the party on that one and gave us 50% off a new dryer which we appreciated. We are keeping the brand new dryer for when we move to our new home soon, and wanted to… Read more
keep this one as a second dryer. However, now the one we are using currently (Miele Edition 111 T 8861 WP) beeps and stops after around a minute, and will only dry clothes on a few cycles when on proofing. Anyone else had this issue and is it worth trying to get it fixed? With previous experience in repairing Miele's, its not worth spending a cent because they keep on breaking down unfortunately. Happy to be proven otherwise!

Disappointing – Was willing to pay top dollar for reliable machine. Problems from the start. Usually stops beeps 'dry' within minute after starting; noisy and under-dry even when it rarely does work. Show details

Don't buy problem after problem – It's simple problem from day one. Miele changed the motor changed the rubber door insert in the first two years. Now warranty had expired and want $650 to change the computer as all the setting are confused and don't dry cottons says 50minutes and stays wet. Technician told me the computer needs to be replaced what a joke! I always have keeps my… Read more

Does not dry – I spent a small fortune on this dryer for the power efficiency and because it doesn't steam up the room. It is great for not steaming up the room. But no matter which program I select I can't get a completely dry result unless it is just one fabric such as towels. I have to sort the wash into minuscule loads of a single fabric in order to get a complete dry, so 1 load of wash can take me 2 days to dry. Show details

Expensive but worth the – Amazing dryer, worth every dollar. Does a great job drying, easy to use, easy to clean and clothes, towels come out nice sand soft!! People that are bagging this machine simply don't know how to appreciate it or have it stored in a confined area. You can't go wrong with a Miele, it's like buy a BMW over a Mitsubishi Show details

Great dryer despite its cost – 3 years old now. Heat pump technology means no venting issues. Dries clothes perfectly and gently. Easy to understand and use controls. Extremely well made, the Mercedes of driers and worth the high cost, should last a lifetime. Has developed a noise like a dry bearing which we have yet to get fixed.
Waste of money – Heat come out also humidity despite sellers recommendations ,don't wast your money on this brand, same product in Electrolux or Samsung is much better as I have had used both big mistake, customer service are hopeless won't get back to you at all.please get the sales person o explained and possibly document the explanation as they give you heaps wrong info and hope
It's expensive but worth it – I've had this dryer for over 3 months now and overall I am not that heart-broken at the price I paid for it considering how expensive it is. Very simple to use, you have a number of settings (cotton, wool, hygiene..etc) that you can set depending on the your clothes material. The timer adjusts depending on the dry-setting chosen and how wet your… Read more
clothes are.
It's quiet, much quieter than my previous F&P tumble dryer and my laundry room is no longer a russian sauna after it's done. I have the hose drain the water straight into my sink so there is very minimal effort in use of this machine. The only post dry tasks that needs to be done is to collect the lint from two filters which takes around 20 seconds.
The clothes come out great, I don't have many business shirts but I do have polo t-shirts and don't need to iron them at all. I cannot tell the difference between line drying and drying with this machine. The only minor issue is with the wool shirts (the setting only lasts for 20 minutes) and they feel a little bit damp. Not really an issue for me as this feeling of dampness goes away quickly when you put them on.
I also don't feel bad about using this dryer as it's more energy efficient than the washing machines. 6 stars energy efficiency, 149kWh per year.
I did think that Miele could provide a slightly better service when I purchased this machine online. When I purchased it I didn't know I'd need to buy a special installation bracket, it would be good if they got in touch with me to recommend it. I needed to wait another week to have the bracket delivered separately so that I could install it on top of my washing machine. No issues with delivery, delivered on time and the driver called me 30 minutes in advance both times.
Excellent dryer – I purchased this dryer to stack on top of Miele W 5965 WPS front loading washing machine in June 2013.Although not used often,it drys perfectly every time with the help of sensors. As a heat pump dryer the energy rating is 6 stars, most impressive.Only regret is that it doesn't seem to have a cool drying setting for feather down items.I cant go past Miele for high quality and reliability
Displeased with this dryer – We purchased the dryer and washer set, I'm not pleased with either performance. The dryer discharges lint, I have never had so many dust bunnies in my house. I clean both the insert and the inner part of the door. The washer has to few settings and takes much to long to wash.
Excellent Dryer – Update: After many months of usage, I've upped my review to 4 stars. I've come to understand the thing a little better and it's worth pointing out to others here that if you are going from an el cheapo conventional air dryer to a heat pump, you need to change your expectations and not expect it to behave as the old one did. I've worked… Read more
out how to simply put it on for another 30 mins if required (warm air option).
I've worked out how to keep clothes/sheets separate so that a wet sheet doesn't interfere with the drying of t-shirts and whatnot.
I've learnt that a quick vacuum of the plinth filter isn't that difficult to do every now and again - yes it's more maintenance, but then again so is a ferrari over a corolla. :)
In short, absolutely love it now! Just had to get used to it!
For reference, original review is below:
I feel I need to balance out the raving positives here. I spent a small fortune on this dryer expecting the best. Well, I got a good dryer but it has significant problems actually, you know, DRYING the clothes! The sensor is great, sometimes, when it actually dries them but other times, when the clothes are still (very) damp and it thinks they are dry - you are in trouble. There doesn't seem to be any easy way to put the clothes back on for a set time (say 30 minutes) as per a simpler dryer. So the thing goes back on, keeps beeping thinking it's done and on and on it goes until you can coax the thing to keep going long enough to dry.
I sincerely hope there is a simple thing I am missing that I can try? I want to love it but it is sometimes infuriating to use because of this.
Also, it is a bit of a whinger, complaining about plinth filters and whatnot way too often. I'm happy to fix it by washing out the filter but come on, I had absolutely no problems whatsoever with the $400 Simpson I had. This thing cost 5 times as much and is slightly high maintenance for my liking.
Pure joy. Expensive but worth every cent – When you are spending this kind of cash, you need to make sure it is worth it , and not just a name you are buying. This heat pump dryer is so perfect, you will actually enjoy doing laundry. These are some of the most important features of this dryer for me , and why I chose this dryer over others in the similar price range: 1) drum rotates in… Read more
both directions - important so that sheets dry correctly and don't just get tangled up into balls with wet centres.
2) Can be plumbed into sink, so you don't have to empty water collection tray.
3) Equally , you can use this dryer without having it plumbed to the sink. This means you can put the dryer in any room you want ( ie. Not just near a sink) - Of course you would then need to empty the water collection tray after each drying session.
4) Dries everything perfectly without burning it to a crisp.
5) Removing the lint is SO easy ..it is actually fun!!
6) Cleaning the filters is very quick and easy too. ( I just use a powerful hand held vacuum) - this aspect is very important, because I wanted something that was super low maintainance.
7) Easy to use. You don't have to press lots of buttons. Just read the manual so that you know what progam to choose. I don't like things with complicated opperating procedures - so this is very important.
8) Of course being a heat pump dryer makes it energy efficient - but the performance is so good, you'd buy it for the performance alone.
We bought this dryer over a year ago and I'm just as excited about it today as I was when we first bought it.
All my Christmas presents in one box!! – At last! A dryer that actually dries clothes without any fuss or problems. Following my unhappy experience with the LG condensor dryer-refer product review- this Miele condensor dryer I have only had for a week but I am now washing everything I can find knowing that clothes will be dry not damp and that sheets won't be twisted into a tight ball.… Read more
The Miele is a square plain dryer without bells and whistles; it does not play a jaunty tune when it has finished drying BUT it does dry anything I put into it even a very heavy water-logged quilt-it's a glutton for punishment! I couldn't care less about the appearance of this work horse, it does a brilliant job and I'm just sorry I didn't buy it 13 months ago instead of putting up with the hopeless 6 stars LG condensor dryer. The Miele even disposes of its own water extraction and having two lint collectors is also a bonus. I cannot recommend this dryer highly enough.
Reviewed August 2016:
I just wish I could give more than 5 stars to this wonderful piece of equipment!! I have never been so happy with this care free dryer. I'm sure if it was possible this home friendly, capable dryer would make me a cuppa whilst I waited for the clothes to dry! What more can I say? Love it, love it, love it...
Brilliant machine! – I absolutely love this dryer. I highly recommend it . I purchased the package with washing machine and am very happy. It dries clothes to perfection. When they come out the machine they are not boiling hot to touch nor cold. Just a perfect warm soft dry. Has a lot of options and buttons that i most likely will never use!

Finally dont have to do ironing anymore – Apsolutely in love with my dryer. I am truly impressed on the perfomance. It dries everything even when it says "No thumble drying". It hasnt shrank anything. There is no need to iron my washing anymore as it comes out almost crease free. Looking forward buying Miele Washing machine. Miele is honestly the best.
Wonderful dryer – This dryer works beautifully. Look beyond basing this on savings because of its 6 star rating. It's much more than that. The filters are much improved on the older condenser model, and if you look inside the drum, you will find it has a special temperature sensor. Miele advises that it dries your clothes at a lower temperature, and I find using… Read more
the "perfect Dry" setting does dry everything completely.
And finally, if you dry sheets, go to Daiso and get a couple of fishnet bags for $2.80 each which are for drying sheets and prevent the sheets from rolling everything into a sausage.
Simply amazing machine!! – So we've had this and the matching W5873 washer for almost 3 weeks, the dryer is perfection. Extremely quiet, well made, dozens of programmes and so efficient. I have washed several "dry clean" only items, cashmere and angora and the washer handled them perfectly, and the dryer even better. It drys with a much lower, but consistent heat that… Read more · 8
not only dries things fast but doesn't damage them at all. My sweaters came out the same size (didnt shrink) and fluffy. Simple to use and a perfect companion to the washer. Much much less lint in the filters than any other dryer I have had.
Same qualities as any condenser dryer, that many people misunderstand. The clothes come out "feeling" damp, however once they are spread out for a few minutes totally dry and never over dry.
The only thing that took some getting used to was the sound. As its a heat pump, it makes the same noise as a refrigerators condenser. A slight "buzzy" sound, which is not loud just different. Honestly worth the money in every aspect.
Can't complain about anything, but if I had to find a "con" it would be the fact that it doesn't have a self cleaning condenser like the Siemens Masterclass dryers. But that's seriously far reaching for any con.
Definitely looking forward to the supertronics next year. Build quality, performance, choice of cycles, efficiency, classic look Nothing..But a self cleaning condenser would have been great
