Done 135,000 kilometres. No oil leaks or oil use. One rattle in dash. Phone buttons on the steering wheel have stopped working. Audio system is still working well. All other functions are working well. Still my keeper car. Show details · 1
Follow-up · The dash rattle is still there. Become less annoying over time. CVT is working perfectly. Favourite feature is accessibility, I can enter and exit without any problems given my age.
Let's do better next time – I wish car manufacturers took into consideration the needs a little more and not just the bells and whistles. Practical things matter to most of us. There should have been interior lights in the rear passenger area and storage area on the doors for those little people passengers as well. Whoever unloads the car in the rear area with no lighting… Read more
surely finds it difficult, particularly with beautiful black leather upholstery you can not see anything. The rear boot light is also located under the rear parcel tray which makes it very awkward to see in the boot when it's dark. Maybe next time ask a varied range of car buyers first to get valued input. Ask the people who drive the cars. Please Mitsubishi do better next time around.
Worst SUV – - the Android system is really bad, first it doesn't show the speed at which the car is going on the map , the volume is very slow , a quarter way up, there still no sound or very low sound, the mic on panel is just very close to the volume so it's very high chances that you will turn on the mic for speaking - Its very high fuel consumption not… Read more
as initially thought -the door doesn't close softly have to close it hard so get it fully closed, this is very irritating - the lane assist feature is pathetic as its of no use and it's doesn't causes a big alarm, it only slowly beeps , it doesn't cause a that much of a alarm, it just this feature us falsely advertised, bad design inside the car interns of lighting -only one set of light in on the celing in front , at the back there's no light for the passenger section to turn on

Great Decision – Have had really bad luck buying cars lately, having bought an MG ZS 12 months ago that ended up being biggest mistake (but that’s another story) with the money from the buy back I decided to purchase a Mitsubishi ASX LS, must say wish I had done this March last year and saved myself the heartache. The car is a great for running my errands, going… Read more
to classes and it handles very well, so far fuel economy is good, the car is comfortable, love the fact that my son who is an Android user, he can borrow my car and plug in he’s phone and use it and more daughter who is an iPhone user can use it as well.
I live that I have a 3 year capped service fee. So far this car has been the best decision I have made in a motor vehicle purchase

The ASX is ideal for my lifestyle - not too big & not too small - simply perfect! – In October 2022 I took delivery of my new Mitsubishi ASX Exceed. I drive this car on average 4 times a week for shopping & social outings with friends. It is an ideal size for city driving plus I really appreciate the elevated driving position that gives me an excellent view of surrounding traffic. It is easy to manoeuvre around shopping center… Read more
car-parks - certainly an advantage! The 2.4 litre engine is proving to be fairly economic with petrol consumption as low as 6.7 litres per 100 kms on the local motorways. Around town in heavy traffic this can rise to around 7.4 litres per 100 kms. I have found the engine very responsive - the CVT automatic moves smoothly through the gears with that extra power there if needed. Inside the cabin the leather seats are very comfortable and all the controls within easy reach. There is ample space for 4 adults & at the back the tailgate lifts up to reveal plenty of room for luggage or parcels. It has a Space Saver Spare Wheel but a full sized Spare Wheel to match those already on the car is available at extra cost. After the first 1000 km service the ASX requires only one service each year, to maintain its 10 year Warranty if I have the services done by Mitsubishi. An added incentive was Northshore Mitsubishi will service my car at my home, some 50 kms away from the Dealership. This was unexpected and certainly appreciated. This ASX comes with many safety systems, standard for this model. Perhaps not as technologically advanced as some other SUV's in this class I have found the ASX is a reliable, comfortable car to drive with ample creature comforts. It will be interesting to see what Mitsubishi will replace this model with in the next year or so. It will not be same as it is being built in combination with Renault possibly in Europe, and no longer in Japan.
Failed my expectations sadly ...Sold the car may 2021 – Very let down i have to admit was a great incentive the 5 year warranty BUT mine is just 4.9 year old and the transmission has failed completely ,i got every service on time and only driven 86,000 klms ,no part in australia its on back order ,still waiting after 3 going on 4 weeks to get a loan car im spending a fortune to try get to work… Read more
-finally got a loan car 2019 Prev outlander Electric ( So far the car is fantastic drives great and saves you on petrol ) ,you would think mitsubishi would have sorted a more smooth trouble free experience SINCE i did buy my asx for $25000 , wouldnt recommend thats for sure UNLESS affter some advice - to get your fluid changed earlier than what they recommend ! Biggest disappointment was the service i received ive contacted Mitsubishi head office Sydney day after day and you get no straight answer was frustrating to deal with ....Otherwise the asx drives ok seems to be good on petrol ,good little suv to do quick trips ... UPDATE : Thought i would update ive had my car back for around 6 weeks and would you believe the transmission was slipping again , as you slow to the roundabout and then excellerate off there is no power so you need to put your foot down harder and then it just speeds off and revs really high , so i contacted the mitsubishi and they had to tow it to them wednesday so once they look at the problem will update further its obviously the transmission again , im so dissappointed in this car its now just 3 weeks out of the 5 year warranty . Got the car back in April a few days later after getting it back the 3rd time the battery kept ticking so i replaced the battery and decided enoughs enough and sold my car through car sales and then went and purchased the New Mg ZS Essense 2021 in may so happy with it :)
Excellent Car and Value – I bought my 2018 petrol ASX LS new for less than the price of a Corolla. It is brilliant if you want a traditional vehicle that is substantial, reliable, and cheap to maintain. It is a pleasure to drive, provided you are not an ignorant driver who is hard and mashes the accelerator often. This is a car that is super smooth, comfortable and just… Read more · 1
does its job without fuss, and it looks really nice also. It is one of the nicest and most satisfying cars in my long list of cars over my lifetime. Currently I have a Corolla and an ASX. The former is more sporty but a bit cramped, so we use the ASX for more room or longer trips. The seats are comfortable, the equipment and tech is good, the headlights are good, the horn is good. Love the adjustable indicator sound level. In 2 years of ownership nothing has broken or needed fixing, just regular maintenance. It gives the impression of being very robust. The aircon is great, as good as the Toyota. The only area that could be improved is the ride. It is a bit too firm and under damped in the rear. I rented an Outlander interstate, and the ride was better, so it must be a suspension tune setting for the ASX. It is acceptable, but the Corolla has a better ride. To drive the CVT transmission for more instant power, you need to understand how to use the sport setting on the shift lever. Sounds simple, but most people have no idea how to properly drive a CVT vehicle. Also will make sure I service the transmission regularly before every 5 years or 90k that is recommended, as others report transmission failure through dirty fluid fault. Overall love this car.

Great size, but heavy on fuel – I have wanted an ASX for such a long time- love the size, and the look, and in particular the 10yr warranty. Due to covid-supply issues, I was lucky enough to buy a brand new 2022 XLS-Plus model, which is the Exceed without blind spot indicators (they were the part missing, so created a new model so Mitsubishi could continue to meet up with the… Read more
demand). It’s comfortable. Previously owning a 2016 Outlander which was excellent on fuel avg 5.5L/100km, I was disappointed how heavy the ASX is by comparison (combined driving average about 8.5L). I love the 10 year warranty and capped price servicing though. Great as a run around, and easy for city driving!
Good alround, but needs some refining – Bought the car second hand off a female owner who treated the car terribly - absolutely putrid inside... Spent good time cleaning and dismantling it thoroughly so got to know the insides and out very well. The looks of the car remain unchanged, by why change a good thing? I personally like the old front end prior 2015, the face-lift 2017 is a bit… Read more
too much chrome and busy... But the body and lighting remain unchanged up until the 2020... I do love the 2020 rear LED tail lights that's about all from it...
Car is well built, quality is what you'd expect for a $30k circa car, plastics and metal work under them representing Japanese build quality. Alround interior surfave plastics are very acceptable to the touch, not sure what people complain about?
Driving the car itself, good fuel use, good power from the 2.0L, gets a bit thirsty with spirited driving as you'd expect... I do hear a lot that the 2.0L is a stronger power plant than the 2.4L durability wise...
The manual gear box is easily used, plenty of feel, good gear ratios and excellent shift feel. I hear the CVT is a pile of junk from many sources.
Steering is electric assist, so it's a little vague, you need to consciously remember where the wheels are especially when parking or driving slowly / manoeuvring. The suspension is good, handles well but needs lowering by 30 / 50mm as the 2WD model would handle that much better as the height adds to unnecessary roll especially large round abouts.
Have really pushed the car in the wet (safely) to see where its letting go point is and the safety package is quiet impressive, coming from a car that had oy 2 air bags and no electronic safety roles in handling this cars pretty damn good!
Space throughout is excellent, good for 5 people, I'm 6'1" plenty of seat and leg / roof height. Good for myself, my wife and baby boy.
Also very easy to work on, car is very well thought out and planned, easy to change oils and change out parts - a very easy car to own and maintain.
Overall its been a easy car to live with, after initially cleaning it out for a week...
Would buy again!!
Best decision – I have my 2017 ASX since brand new and buying this car was the best decision I made. While I mainly use my car just going to and from work, it easily handles long road trips as well. It's so roomy inside but small enough to fit easily into parking spaces. Fuel economy is exactly what the salesman said it was and it's never missed a beat. Show details
Negative reviews
Mitsubishi vehicles are rubbish – I have tried out 2 outlanders and an asx and they are junk , the materials used for the interior are the most hideous I’ve come across, the plastics and fabric compared to Toyota are inferior , I will never buy another Mitsubishi Show details
Okay car. Poor quality windscreen – Based on my experience Mitsubishi installs what I believe to be poorly manufactured windscreens into their Mitsubishi ASX models. I purchased a new Mitsubishi ASX MY 15.5 in 2016. I discovered the windscreen had what I can only describe as very fine sandblasting or milkiness over the entire windscreen. When driving into the direction of the sun… Read more
at it is low in the sky, 7.30 - 8.30am and 4.30 - 5.30pm daylight saving time Victoria. I see what I think is referred to as flaring and find it particularly distracting. I rarely drive during those hours so it took some time before I noticed the issue. As I’d had the vehicle for some time before I noticed the problem, I figured Mitsubishi would be unlikely to accept it was a possible defect so I just decided to go to the expense of having the windscreen replaced with another genuine Mitsubishi Windscreen thinking the one installed, on the vehicle originally, may have been from a dodgy batch. Wouldn’t you know it, same issue. Then in February this year, with some reluctance I agreed to the purchase of another new Mitsubishi ASX, husband finds it easy to get in and out of. Well low and behold same problem with the windscreen. Spoke with the a guy from the service centre where I bought the vehicle who advised he’s had someone else complain about the problem. Mitsubishi wouldn’t take any responsibility “because it’s the windscreen”, I think the service guy meant there is no warranty on windscreens. He also indicated the problem is generally caused during the lamination process. From what I’ve been able to deduce via research, poor lamination can cause a host of problems including the sandblast/milky effect I’m seeing. The same service guy had pushed the issue with Mitsubishi for nearly 6 months to no avail, eventually installing a non genuine windscreen (paid for by the customer).
I’d be interested to know what the minimum Australian requirements are for visibility through new windscreens. I’d be surprised if Genuine Mitsubishi Windscreens would pass the test. I’ll need to do some research.
Apart from the windscreen with both vehicles which we still own we are relatively happy with the cars. But it’s true. You get what you pay for.
If Mitsubishi are willing to accept what I believe to be poor quality windscreens from manufacturers, what other poor quality components do they accept and build into their vehicles?
unreliable Mitsubishi asx – I have to rebuild the engine after 60000 km because injection fault after that found out have stick rings in engine fault after Mitsubishi motor rebuilt engine took 5 week ago go well and after 2 month this going good so far at that time hope time to last long-term. Morphett Vale. S.A. with 2 free services and floor mats thrown in to boot...The attention to detail is fantastic with double stitching on the leather seats and steering wheel ..It makes you feel like you’re in a way more expensive car...It’s one of those feelings that is hard to put into words. Maybe pride of ownership is close but still not enough....Made for Ausralian Conditions ..That’s why I call it Back in Black just like AC/DC...LEGENDARY!!
I love this car – Best car I’ve ever driven. Handles like a small car but has some real guts to it. The black mirrors and alloys look great especially on starlight colour, goes well on fuel Show details

Great Vehicle! – I am three months in with my 2019 Mitsubishi ASX and absolutely love it. For the price point, it offers features that no other car in its category can. We were on a budget and looked at various cars prior to purchasing it and nothing else compared. I honestly believe that there is a reason there are so many on the road! car for running errands with children, fair boot space, great keyless entry, apple car play and reversing camera. Everything a modern mum like myself needs to get from A to B.
Our only negative is the road noise can be noticeable if you are on a longer trip or on a freeway, but from day to day this is not noticeable as always busy chatting in the car or listening to a radio.
The extended warranty and capped price servicing was also a selling point. We purchased our vehicle from Brighton Mitsubishi and I also highly recommend their service. A great small family car, commuter car, or car for a couple.
buy this one – i have never bought a better car than this, great price for a demo, runs like a dream ,and the standard model has a heap of extras, power win/steer/mirror,rear camera[a must ]sensors all round, and a whopping 18in tyres, and 5 year warranty Show details

Love this car but have big issues with back passenger seat belts, the anchor is much too short, maki – Family transport, short trips most days, serviced when needed. Issue is with the back passengers seat belts, very very hard to click in as anchor is much too short. Very happy with how it drives and economical ! So happy I purchased it – I use my car for commuting to work and I use it daily. I get it serviced at the recommended service time and I haven't had any mechanical issues with the car. nicely in the back. Its also a good height for my elderly parents to get into my last sedan was to low. Great car Thanks Mitsubishi.
Great car... just one little but though – It's a fantastic fuel efficient car with an ultra smooth ride. I only have one negative... Upon entering the car, in let's say eg., underground car park, the gear console doesn't stay lit up for very long before returning to complete darkness. I don't find it an issue when selecting Drive, as that's a direct downward position, but Reverse (for me)… Read more
isn't so easy to find, therefore I must switch on at least my parking lights so the console lights up. Hope this makes some sense
An excellent car which does everything asked of it! – My 2017 ASX is a lovely car which is ok on fuel but, a good and safe place to be on the road. The 2 litre engine has enough power and it works well with the CVT gearbox. I am not a fan of CVT's but, this is definitely one of the better ones out there. Everything in the ASX works well - the climate control air conditioning, the stereo, the… Read more
digital radio is great and the sound system in general is good for a car of this price. The load area is generous but the rear seat belts get in the way when the rear seats are folded down. The factory Brigstone Dueller tyres are a little noisy and you need to be attentive in a wet corner but they are good for all around use. A set of more road specific tyres would work better. I traded in a Ford Mondeo on the ASX and am happy with my purchase. The ASX has received some harsh reviews but, if you want a good all rounder for family or just to get away, you can't do better for the money. Totally recommended!
Great car – I have a manual 2 wheel drive Mitsubishi asx and I find it a great little car! The boot is a little squishy as a family car with our pram, I can’t fit a lot in if I have the pram but it works for me as we have a larger family car for when it’s needed. Show details
Reliable, economic, small family suv – My ASX has not skipped a beat since I bought it. It is economic on fuel and has all the standard features expected in newer model cars nowadays at a great price. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is due to all of the recalls it's had and the acceleration is at times laggy. Also wish the 60/40 split on the rear seats was on the opposite side.… Read more
Big portion currently on passengers side, which when you have one child is usually the side they sit on so you don't get them out roadside. This limits how much you can load into it when only the small side can be folded down.
Happy with Purchase – I have the 2015 model and regularly drive 300km to the country to visit family. I find it handles well, is comfortable to drive, and fuel efficient. It accelerates well. I feel safe driving this car. My only complaints are the space-saver spare (they're useless for highway driving), and there is a ledge where the hatch closes so putting heavy or awkward sized things into the boot can chip the paint. Perfect size car! – I bought my Mitsubishi Manual Silver ASX in December 2015. The car is a great size, lots of room throughout the car and also in the boot. Easy to park. I love having the reverse camera, very helpful. The car is quiet and sleek looking. The car has been reliable, a couple of recalls but were seen to as soon as required. Other than that, I like my ASX. Show details
I have had two ASX cars and think they are great – The Mitsubishi ASX is amazing value and a reliable, safe and visually appealing car. Overall affordable but not very fancy inside – Pro: affordable if you could bargain with the dealership. Auto folding mirrors are great. Reverse camera and sensors even on the low end model. Con: not very fuel efficient. Driving in Sydney when traffic is free flowing will still use up to 15L fuel per 100km. Motorway fuel consumption is around 9L/100km.
