Mitsubishi MSZ-GA Series

Runs like a champion – I've owned this airconditioner so long I can't remember when it was installed. Mitsubishi MSZ-GA Series. Its outlasted everything else in the house. We live in a very tropical climate where heat and humidity is thrown at us in spades every year. The unit cools a large area and runs exactly 2 degree's cooler than a similar sized Panasonic 7.1Kw… Read more
unit. Nothing but a good experience with this unit and would buy Mitsubishi Electric again based on this experience.
Really disappointed – My Mitsubishi model MSN-ga71va died a few weeks ago. This was the model recommended to me by the dealer..I've had it for approx 8yrs. it's really disappointing when you pay so much money & it doesn't last... the repair cost is approx $1,900 or the $2,700 for a new one fully installed.. Mitsubishi Split System Airconditioner – Be aware that somewhere in the fine print the Mitsubishi Electric Airconditioner is not designed to tolerate temperature above 40 degrees. Of course we should have looked for that bit of information, because when you happily put in an airconditioner you would be thinking 'Is it going to conk out when it gets to 40 degrees' !!! Would have been good to know that before ours was installed, as Mitsubishi aren't going to help us at all.
Air is excellent heat is questionable at low temps – I own 2 36K split heat units 1 2 zone system with 2 18K indoor units and 1 3 zone unit with 1 18K and 2 9K units. The cooling in summer is fantastic however during the winter the units are start to become inefficient at below 20 degrees. Below 10 degrees they are extremely ineffective and costly to operate. Below zero and they stop working until… Read more
temp gets back above 10 degrees. Good cooling Bad winter primary heat in areas with temps below 20 degrees.
Absolute Rubbish – A couple of years ago I purchased a Mitsubishi 6.8KW Split System. The unit functioned well for the first few years. It broke down just out of the warranty period and would cost more to repair than to replace so had to be thrown out. I will never buy a Mitsubishi again. Paid over $3000 (including install) and it lasted less than 6 yrs.
Horrible service – Mitsubishi MSZGA80VA out of warranty by six months. Runs for a couple of hours then shuts down. Service agent has looked at it four times as well as agent from Mitsubishi over a ten week period. They are both guessing as to what the problem is and the end cost seems to be almost the price of a new unit. Ran well when working. Service seems to be almost non-existant.
Mitsubishi leaves you in the cold – A couple of years ago I purchased a Mitsubishi 7KW Split System. The unit functioned well over the first couple of years. Back in March 2012 the unit ceased working and upon inspection by Mitsubishi's service agent I was left with a $300 bill and advised the unit is not covered under warranty. The service agent believes a power surge or… Read more
lighting strike damaged the unit and although the unit was still in warranty, Mitsubishi is unwilling to cover under warranty as the power surge or lightning strike was not their fault.
The repair bill is $1650 - whereas I could purchase a brand new unit for a little over $2000. I will not be repairing the unit - I will be leaving it on my street for a few weeks until the next hard waste pick-up is scheduled. I will need to leave a sign "$1650 to fix (almost brand new and still under warranty)" to discourage anyone from thinking they have scored on hard waste day.
What is really disturbing is Mitsubishi's disgraceful customer care. I have phoned Mitsubishi twice and sent three emails over the past 6 weeks. I have been advised by Mitsubishi's inept customer care that someone will make contact with me. Mitsubishi has had 5 opportunities now to discuss my concern and each time Mitsubishi's customer care has shown scant regard to there my requests for help. They have not shown me the courtesy of a phone call or been bothered to send a response to my three emails. They have blatantly ignored me.
Consumers need to be aware that Mitsubishi represents itself strongly in its pre-sale promotion but fails miserable when the unit is sold. They will fob you off to small business operators who provide after sales service and ignore your needs.
I thought I was buying a product from a long-standing, strong Japanese company that provides great products from pre to post sale. All Mitsubishi is interested in is shipping units out the door, booking the revenue and profit and then leaving you in the cold.
I informed Mitsubishi's customer care I run a business with over 40 air-conditioning units installed.
I will never purchase another product from Mitsubishi, as the after sales support provided by Mitsubishi is non-existent. The only support is available from third party service agents who are at the whim of Mitsubishi. It reminds me of big insurance companies and big banks - effective in selling products but not being available at your time of need.
I would suggest consumers look for brands that will respond post sale and support their own products not leave you out in the cold i.e. Miele and Asko
And please remember if you see an as new Mitsubishi 7KW Split System on the side or the road, ignore it, it is unfortunately heading off to scrap as only a fool would fork out good money after bad to repair Mitsubishi products. Did the job effectively whilst it worked. Cost $1650 to repair a $2500 product that is still under Mitsubishi warranty and Mitsubishi refuse to offer any direct support and ignore 3 phone calls and 3 email requests for help.
Terrible – Indoor unit is large compared to other makes but runs quite, reliability is very poor, failed in under a year - dissapointing mitsubishi. quite Reliability
Good – Would have no hesitation in recommending this AC - our particular model is the MSZ-GA60. Was installed without any problems. Very quiet. Heats a vast area to our satisfaction. Controls are easy to use. Very satisfied with the product. Auto-function can be mildly erratic. You set it for 22 degrees, and most times it is perfect - occasionally need to knock it up one degree because it is too cold, then back to 22 later on and then all is OK again. Show 2 replies
Excellent – I have never owned an airconditioner before but Mitsubishi seems to be a reliable name, the retailer told me there are two types of Mitsubishi air conditioner, Mitsubishi electric and Mitsubishi heavy industries, both are made in China but the Mitsubishi Electric model is Japanese Quality Assured. I would not bother trying anything else. I have… Read more
the 6.0kw cooling model in a large two bedroom unit in Melbourne. Was 46 degrees outside last Saturday and the unit worked hard without complaining, It was set to 24 degrees and it felt quite chilly inside while the trees outside went brown. Heating is good also, I found the thermostat to be accurate, keeping the room to a nice constant temperature. I can't think of anything to dislike about it.
Excellent – I recently installed a the latest version of this series (a MSZGE50KIT). It has been working very well and would recommend it to anyone who has a larger room with high ceilings. Very quiet with great boost function. No faults (so far), but it is a relatively new unit.
Good – When I was choosing my airconditiong manufacturer, & as I was purchasing 2 inverter units (MSZ-GA60VA-A1), for me there was a choice of about 3 brands. Mitsubishi was the dearest by a few dollars but a much better deal was brokered for 2 identical units reducing the cost considerably, I am very happy with their operation. I've had them for one… Read more
summer and one winter and have been very happy with the units. The remote is easy to use, I highly recommend the (MSZ-GA60VA-A1)! Inside & outside units very quiet, economical to run, heating or cooling works fast to change temp. Initial cost high compared to other reputable makes.
Good – We are currently in the middle of a heatwave in SA - hottest temps for a long time, and we are staying cool inside. We turn the air con off around 10.30 each night, and back on around 7.30 each morning and it is doing a great job keeping our place cool. It is fairly quiet to run, and seems quite efficient. Great for heating and cooling, heats up… Read more
our place very well and quite quickly. On really hot days we get the air con started early in the morning before it gets too hot so that we stay cool inside. not much - it was a little dear to buy - and we have some problems when using the heating unit, we have a bit of leakage on the outside unit, however this is a minor issue.
Good – When choosing an airconditiong unit it was a choice of about 3 brands. Mitsubishi was not the cheapest, nor the dearest, but I am happy with it's operation. I've had it for two summers and one winter and can't complain about it. I have just had the house insulated so it will be interesting to see how much I need it this winter. The remote… Read more
control is easy to operate and has the dehumidifier function which is a bonus, as well as the long range fan, perfect for my house. Would recommend it! Quiet unit and seems quite efficient to run. Takes a while to get get going.
