I contacted Movers Buddy on Tuesday to get a simple quote and was bombarded with calls and SMS from Movers Buddy and other 3rd parties offering Electricity, Gas connections and continuous phone calls and message to use their services. my privacy and have shared my number with other 3rd parties without my consent. I have escalated this matter to Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Be careful as they do not take NO for an answer and continue to call you despite several phone calls to request a stop on calls. I would NEVER use their service.

I spoke to a representative to get a quote. I wanted a local company and they sent a truck from 1.5hrs away which resulted in doubling the quote. The men who arrived were polite, efficient, careful with my furniture and friendly.

Do not use this company. Company charged over contract, removalists instructed to take longer routes instead of time-efficient routes, removalists did not receive booking advice it was for one large piece of furniture, not a whole apartment. Company rep very aggressive on phone when we queried the overcharging. Although the removalists were nice, do not use!

Do not book this mover!! We had several issues across our move and would strongly advise against anyone booking through them. said they were too tired from a previous job and would not complete the move that day.

They promised us a $130 discount as an inconvenience and rebooked us for the following day. They arrived on time the next day, but were not prepared for the stairs despite this being told at booking and we had to help them carry many items upstairs.

The worst part of Movers Buddy is the illegitimate and coercive payment structure. They initially invoiced us $900 for a 1 bedroom move, with a series of exacerbated and falsified charges and omitting the initially promised discount. We called and they agreed to provide the discount as promised, but had also sent through an invoice with other false charges that we were arguing against. While we were discussing the overcharged invoice over the phone, the removalist came back and followed us around the house, saying he would not leave unless we stopped arguing and paid the invoice as sent to us. He continued to follow us, got his boss to speak to us on the phone and angrily accuse us of refusing to pay (which was not truthful) and insisted we could not fight the cost and had to pay the incorrect invoice amount or they would stay in our house. They blamed us as the reason they could not leave.

Due to these threats, we felt we had to pay the invoice but later realised they had added several incorrect charges and grossly overcharged us - the stair fee, which moving buddy’s own terms says is fixed at $50, was charged at $100. We were charged a credit card surcharge of $22 despite paying via bank transfer. We were charged $30 for tolls, despite there being no tolls on our route. We booked over the phone and paid a $50 deposit, which was guaranteed to be refunded, but is later described as a $50 booking fee and was not included as part of our overall payment.

They immediately transfer your phone calls to voicemail and it is incredibly difficult to speak to anyone. They do not respond to emails.

Overall, we were overcharged by about $200 and are seeking a refund, but are currently being ignored by the company.

Please save yourselves the difficulties and the extortion and book a company who is more legitimate and will get your move done well - Movers Buddy will not.

This is a scam. They mislead and overcharge. And they don’t shy away from it when you confront them either. They are useless amateurs who couldn’t even lift basic pieces of furniture, damaged items, and tracked grease all through the house. I will be reporting them and taking them to court.

Mover buddys is the worst mover experience we have ever had. Do not use them!!! $900 for 4 hours work. Turned up 5 hours late with smaller truck didn’t finish job (we still half the place to move) charged our card without permission & they did not care absolutely awful experience & service. I want to be clear that the two removalists themselves were genuinely great people. They worked hard, remained respectful, and did their best under very difficult circumstances. The real problem is Movers Buddy’s management and planning.

Before the move, I specifically informed them that I had a large refrigerator and asked them to send a team equipped with heavy-duty lifting straps because a standard trolley would not be sufficient. They acknowledged my request, yet they arrived with a trolley that was actually weaker than the one I already owned. On top of that, these two men had already completed three jobs earlier that day, so by the time they arrived they were understandably exhausted.

As a result, loading the truck became an unnecessarily stressful and frustrating ordeal. What should have been a straightforward move turned into hours of struggle simply because the company failed to provide the right equipment and scheduled their staff so poorly.

Unfortunately, things got even worse at the new house. During unloading, the operations manager repeatedly called one of the removalists, demanding that he get me to pay the remaining balance immediately. Instead of helping unload the truck, the mover spent a significant amount of time on the phone. My friends ended up doing much of the unloading themselves while effectively only one removalist was working.

Moving house is already one of the most stressful experiences people go through. The last thing anyone needs is a company that is disorganised, poorly managed, and creates additional stress instead of reducing it.

I feel sorry for the removalists, who were put in an impossible situation by poor management. However, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Movers Buddy to anyone. They need to seriously improve their scheduling, communication, equipment, and overall customer service.

could estimate how much it might cost. It was about $200 more than my estimate. They take a $50 deposit beforehand that they say will come off the final invoice, but I had to ask for them to do that for them to apply it. They also charged me for an extra half hour (they were half an hour late) and an extra fee for stairs even though they say 1 flight is free. They make you pay on the phone while the movers are still working and don’t send you an invoice until after. It was a bit chaotic and I was distracted so I didn’t have the time to contest every misleading charge.

invoicing as they try 2get extra at the invoicing stage. They can’t even send out a correct invoice after 6 failed attempts both lady’s were rude & not understanding what they sent & trying to make us pay incorrect amount on invoice. 10km apart We were shocked to receive a final invoice of $2,694.72. I have moved many times over the years from a 4 bedroom house constantly downsizing to now a 2 bedroom. I have NEVER paid this much and it has never taken 12.5 hours maybe 8 hours maximum. Not to mention I did trips taking a lot of stuff in my car too. And the move was still not complete I had to go back the next day and move more in my car.

The quote advertised “transparent pricing with no hidden fees”. However, after questioning the invoice, we were advised that additional charges included $200 for wrapping, $150 for a heavy item charge and $25 for tolls. These charges were not disclosed in the quote provided to us.

The booking confirmation also stated that the $50 booking fee would be deducted from the final bill. When I queried why it had not been deducted, I was told it was a separate booking fee and would not be applied to the invoice, despite the written confirmation stating otherwise.

When concerns were raised, the company simply responded that the move was charged based on time taken and that the fees were disclosed, despite the written documents saying otherwise.

I encourage anyone considering this company to carefully review all documentation, ask for clarification of every possible additional charge in writing, and obtain a clear estimate of the total expected cost before booking.

Again, the movers themselves were excellent. My dissatisfaction is with the pricing transparency and the handling of the invoice dispute. I do not recommend this company.

Update 08/06/2026 - Mover Buddy support revised my invoice and refunded me $427.85 which were the extra costs & tax associated with those costs. The revised invoice total is $2,266.87.

- the team who moved were good while doing the work. However came way earlier than the set time. This means we were not ready so they wasted time waiting for us to clear fridge etc and it is a tactic used to add up time. - be careful with the rate and get it in written - be careful with the booking of time as they do t refund or offset against invoice. Incredibly slow and won’t let you help. Even getting between houses was slow. Polite but sent a man and a woman. They took phone calls too. Do not use them. It was just a small Kitchen units no stairs ! Too hard to deal with
