Worst customer service – Bad customer service without any return or exchange policy. Strongly not recommend Show details
Extremely disrespectful staff – Staff member was cranky when I asked if he could please verify the price of the item I was interested in, saying he could not do so without scanning the product code (with which I had no issue so I was taken aback by the crankiness). Then, on payment, I wasn't immediately sure of the type of card I was using (Cheque/Savings/Credit) and he made a… Read more
snide remark about this. Then when it came to keying in my PIN he said: "You do know what your PIN code is don't you?" and the sarcastic tone of that question made it very evident he was directly impugning my intelligence. It felt like I'd walked into the Abuse office in the Monty Python sketch. I will not be purchasing from MSY again.
Hi, Sorry about your experience with our staff. We… Read more (+1 reply)
Cheap hard drives and excellent warranty – On Friday afternoon I purchased a Seagate 2.5" FireCuda SSHD 1TB ST1000LX015 SATA Hybrid SSHD Hard Drive for $85 but on Monday morning they replaced it under warranty since it was faulty, which was extremely nice of them to do that for me. Show details
Good prices – Msy has some of the best prices for computer parts in Australia. I have bough multiple items and all work fine. Would buy from again Show details
Worst service ever – Spent well over 1.5k on parts for first computer build made sure everything was compatible, got them to build it as at the time some people were uneasy with building themselves so we thought we'd give it to the "it professionals" that you can "trust". Big, big, mistake The computer crashed well over twenty times randomly. We had to drive back… Read more
to the store and pick it up FOUR time's each time them saying it was fixed and tested. Same issue everytime. We asked for a refund and they declined saying it was steam and our software causing the issue not their hardware (completely untrue), then had another staff come down ask what's the problem when we were explaining it WHILE EATING HIS LUNCH touching the computer and saying "there is no problem".
They also spoke to their manager on the phone in Chinese not English to completely disguise what they were saying (this was then he then told us it was out software and blamed us).
Forced me to play games and make my peers stand and wait for a whole hour till it crashed infront of his eyes until finally giving us a refund silently and not saying a word.
DID I MENTION THEY USED MY STEAM ACCOUNT AFTER WE REFUNDED THE COMPUTER? Had to change the password and email.
Worst. Service. Ever. Avoid at all costs.
Useless customer service and returns – Have purchased many things from MSY in the past. If you know exactly what you need, and make sure it's in stock, it's great + the price is normally the best. However, now that i have had to attempt contact regarding a return, I'm getting the cold shoulder and no response from them after many attempts. Reading other reviews, this sounds fairly… Read more
typical. Once the return is completely I will purchase from Scorptec, CPL or Centrecom who actually honour their return policy.
Ok depends on what you expectation is – I bought my pc there 2 years ago, and it was not a happy shopping experience because the staff simply refused to answer any questions I asked. They just showed me the list and deminded me to choose one. Anyway I had very limited buget so I bought it from them. The PC worked fine from the beginning, and had a small problem about 8 month later and… Read more
they fixed it for me as it was under 1 year warranty. My suggestion is if you know about computer and you are fine with bad customer services, they are not all bad, after all they are the cheapest you can get.
Awesome shop! – These guys are excellent, being buying parts for years from these guys.. Had a problem with a vid card and they fixed me up quickly and politely. The shop in Mitcham always is busy and the staff are quick, polite and knowledgeable. Just make sure when you arrive to know exactly what you want. This is not a regular pc shop and I find it just holds up the line for everybody else. But the staff are always happy to help in my observation. Show details
Great! But not for people who don't know what they want – Great store, with cheap prices and fast service. BUT, don't expect a great experience if you don't know what you want. They are not the most helpful or easy to understand. Show details
Swear to god ill never step a foot at mitcham msy again. BEWARE of dodgy MSY – Brought a gainward gtx970 on 19/11/14 at mitcham msy store. It was $449, msy had it $10 cheaper then pccg and also more closer to my house so i decided to buy it from msy. I have had bad experience from msy previously, i once brought a corsair headphone and the box was in the worse condition possible. That maybe a small problem for most people,… Read more
but for me, if the box is squashed , dented , old, it shows how bad msy handle their goods. And when the staff went to get the headphone and came back to the counter, he just slap that thing on the table, clearly the worse handling possible.
So from that experience, i did have a bad feeling before picking up the gtx970.
I got there and asked for a gtx970, there was one left so i took the chance and grabbed it. Funny enough, the box was again, in a very bad condition, it looks like the box had been dragged along the floor, the round sticker from the opening cover wasnt even properly sticked on, the staff took it off and resticked it in front of me. I asked why is the box in a bad condition and he replied "the factory/warehouse did it" " it still works, theres nothing wrong with it, its just the box"
Oh god, i wasnt thinking clearly and i was also desperate of getting one so i end up purchasing it. And that leads to the biggest regret ive had from buying pc component from pc stores.
So i got home and unboxed it. And in comes the big shock..I notice chassis was loose. It literally flaps, it was flimsy....Oh jesus...Ive just spent $449 for a lose graphics card and to top it off, i plugged it in my pc to see if anything else is wrong with it and yes... The fan sounds like it was spinning out of balance..Clearly damaged from poor handling with the box.
I went back straight away. And told them the card was faulty. I told them the card was flimsy and the card makes faulty sound.
The staff took the card out and placed it in a test bench to solve the sound issue first. The test bench table was next to the front reception desk where the in coming customers are. The test bench was then surrounded by few more pc running around it...And thats the place you guys test any sound faults?? Seriously?? The test bench then took 5min+ to even load up to windows, and you're staff is just there waiting (the one with the long hair) and then complains he wish this test bench was running a ssd but they (whoevers the owner) are stingy.
Anyways, somehow it got into a game to test out the card and we're both there leaning over the desk and had our ear next the test bench trying to pick up the sound, also the sound of the other pc next to it and the customer talking and all he said was " that sounds fine to me"
I had a few min arguing and no result. In conclusion to that, he told me it was my computer making sounds and i have to bring my pc to them and re-inspect it... Why would i do that?? I then brought up the flimsy chassis and he said theres nothing wrong with it, again. He told me the lose part wont affect the card at all, it will still run when its flimsy, he said, " when will you ever bash around saying its flimsy when the card wil be inside the case"...
I told him i clearly brought a new gpu didnt i? Also i didnt bash around the gpu or using force to move it. Its loose , it didnt need force to clarify it. Just a finger tap and it moves. How am i bashing it or using force?? Its like saying i brought a car and the interior is badly built and its flimsy but it didnt matter cause it doesnt effect how the cat runs , you will be driving the car , why would you concern if the interior is flimsy. But hey i paid good money for the gpu as a brand new product . I flicked the loose chassis in front of his face and ask is this really not loose?? He grabbed the card off me and went around to other staffs and flicked the loose chassis and asking them if this was a issue to them? Is this a issue? And they said no.......We had a long argument and nothing was solving so he went and grabbed a gainward 670 from the shelf. And opened it, surprisingly the 670 was exactly the same as 970. I observed the 670 and it wasnt flimsy or loose! I then trying to justify with the loose 970 and not loose 670 in front of his face and said if the 970 was exactly like the 670, i wouldnt be here conplaining. And he still said they are the same!! I gave up....I took the 970 and left...I was there for more then 30min justify a faulty component and nothing was solved. Talk about a process of doa, i highly doubt its possible with msy. I should of had brought it from pccg.....Biggest regret....Then again, we're forgeting somthing here , remember the 670 they opened ? Well, its opened , been handled around and now its back into the box , selling as a brand new item. Can you believe it ? You will never know what sort of item you going to receive , hence why most of the boxes are old and damaged .
Its been a few weeks now. Ive never used the gpu. And recently sold it off and got my money back. The fact that i didnt go back again to further clarify my issue is im just done with msy...Its like returning bad food from a dodgy food shop. Even if they said they will make a new one , they might spit in the food to compensate making another dish. Hence this is the same feeling . They are dodgy. Ive lost trust at their product and their actions. They are hopeless.
I went and brought a galax exoc from pccg soon after and im just in love with pccg. The box is in perfect condition. It was also handled carefully when they handed over to me. Im actually a long time costumer from pccg but its 15km away from msy so i tend to make dumb decision and buy from msy but that will never ever happen again. Ill rather travel extra and pay abit more for better quality and service and knowing that you're item is actually brand new , never opened and not damaged from bad handling.
If you're ever buying something expensive, buy it from pccg and trust their quality. Please beware of msy . After experiencing damage and old box twice . And they stated that its damaged from the warehouse or supplier . It seems like they went to the manufactuer and picked out any damaged boxs or any chances of doa and brought them in dirt cheap and selling them in their stores by luck and by scam. Anything could happen with msi . By reading the other reviews here. There is a chance you will end up buying a used or returned faulty item selling it as brand new product. Please read the reviews before stepping into a nightmare. After some research i truely know msy are dodgy hence why they got fined 200k few years back. Dodgy store. Beware!!
Zero customer service; cheap n dirty – You have to know exactly what you're getting at MSY. If you don't, they won't tell you what might be suitable, and they won't offer to look if it's at another store. You can't browse for items either, you just line up and are expected to have fully researched from their pathetic online store that doesn't tell you anything. Customers are… Read more
computers too: you're supposed to say can I have a ZXDK30402 XYZ part, not "I'm looking for a mouse for my laptop..."
Still, they are cheap, so if you know EXACTLY, down to the last number, what you are getting (they'll easily sell you something very similar but different and cheaper), then get it here, otherwise don't even bother.
And don't expect a refund or anything, they don't think the same way as traditional Western stores do. Google MSY and ACCC and read about their known malpractice and fines. Cheap Zero customer service; pathetic catalogue/website
Pay the extra and get it from somewhere else – Rude staff , they could hardly speak English. They didnt have my parts even though they said they do on their website. I would pay the extra $$ to get it from other places who actually have customer service. I am surprised a business like them are operational when so many people complain about them. Show details
Good if you are a savvy shopper – I bought a desktop system from the first store MSY opened in East Malvern, Victoria. I had a problem with the system a few days later. Store owner Andrew rectified the problem same day. He was efficient and polite. Fast forward some fifteen years from then, I purchased many products from MSY and referred many friends to the store. Most of them… Read more
were happy and are now happy MSY clients. I found that for best experience it is important to do research on parts or systems I need before going to the shop. MSY has it's own market niche - clients who know what they want and who are willing to invest time to google and compare products before they make up their mind.
I had a few warranty issues, but those were handled well. Most of the time products were swapped on the spot. Latest warranty claim was today for an ASUS laptop purchased last week. They did not have another laptop of the same model to replace the faulty one with, so they promptly refunded the cost of the laptop and RAM upgrade module I bought at the same time. Due to my great experience with MSY technology, I will buy replacement laptop from them again, as soon as one that fits my needs is back in stock.
I know individual experiences will vary, but I thank Andrew and his team at MSY technology for the good experience I've had with them. Fast service, good handling of warranty issues (in my experience), prices and overall reliability.
