230-IR, 230-IR Wide Plate (See All)Pros

I purchased the MUK Straighter and dryer combo and after using it for about 5 months started to notice that it was damaging my hair. My hair became really dry, fuzzy, brittle and broke off in short layers. I was using it at the lowest setting yet it still fried the ends. It was the infra red that is used in both products. I have used a GHD straighter for many years with no issue. Once I realise what had happened I stopped using the MUK products and went back to my GHD. My hair is slowly repairing and growing back. I contacted MUK they didn't care and would not refund or return the product. Customer service not good!

Bought this two weeks ago, I usually only spend around $100 for a straightener but I lashed out and got this after reading the reviews. The first time I used it I was disappointed, it took twice as long to do my hair and it did not seem to straighten very well at all. I have fine hair and it usually straightens with ease. I persevered with it for two weeks but it did not get any better. I noticed the plates did not meet when closed and you can see daylight through them unless you squeeze hard and my hands were aching trying to get my hair to straighten. I returned it today and the shop attendant showed me another of the same model and it was the same. Going back to a cheapie I think.

My first straightener ever was a GHD, purchased in 2005 which lasted 9+ solid years, so without hesitation I purchased another GHD but returned it after two weeks because it was nothing like the original, my hair was flat and frizzy, not glossy and smooth like I was used to. So I switched to Cloud 9 which was good for about 5 years (but not as good as the original GHD) then it just seemed to be losing its heat, so I switched to MUK after a recommendation from a friend.
At first I thought it was great, my hair was a lot smoother than my old Clo...

I've had this for years now and it is amazing! Heats up in less than a minute, straightens my hair with one swipe on each section and is lightweight (this one doesn't leave my wrist in pain after straightening my hair). Absolutely love it, well worth the price <3

This product is so easy and makes my hair so smooth. My hair can be very hard to manage but, this straightener makes it 20x easier. I use this product on a daily bases and do not know what I would’ve done. Mine is already 2 years old and still looks new. I am so happy with this product and I 100% recommend.

My mum actually purchased this in Rose Gold to replace our 10 year old GHD. We were initially looking at another GHD but a staff member in store changed our mind. This hair straightener is INCREDIBLE. The quality is amazing - unlike our original GHD, you have the option to adjust the temperature (very important), it automatically turns off after 30 mins or so of not being used, the technology behind it seems to be far more advanced than our GHD. I have taken the below directly from the box:

I had owned a slimline GHD for around 5 years. I thought it was good at the time but looking back, it was hard to do long hair with and my hair would still go fuzzy. It was never sleek.
My GHD finally died and I purchased the Muk Style Stick 230-Ir Wide Plate. OMG it is sooooo much better than my GHD. My hair looks silky and unless the weather is particularly unforgiving, it stays that way!
Heats up quickly (I use 200), doesn’t pull my hair. Love it!
Definitely get a wide plate for long, thick hair!!

This hair straightener is one of a kind, whilst it works with your hair not against which minimises any kinks that other hair straighteners havent been able to avoid. With different heat selections for all types of hair or desired effect.

I had my old GHD for 10 years but needed a new straightener ASAP but couldn't afford a new GHD or Cloud 9 so I decided to give the Muk 230-IR a go. This straightener definitely lived up to all the glowing reviews I's read and has no issues dealing with my thick, wavy hair quickly with silky smooth results. It also is designed so that your hair doesn't get caught anywhere.

Purchased yesterday, $199 from hair warehouse. Not worth the money. Doesnt reduce frizz, takes just as long to straighten as my cheap Remington. Has a weird cheap sound when you straighten, like it sounds more plastic and dodgy. Was really disappointed because Ive heard good reviews but not worth the money.

The hair straightener is well made. High performance, with smooth plates. I love the LED lighting. I have used many brands before. And they did not heat up as fast. If you don't have time to wait. Its a very good product to invest in.

I have THICK hair. For every follicle I have 4 strands. It's foiled so it damages easily. Its fluffy and volumous and its hard to ever get it sleek.
Well! I used my 230IR today and holy moly! Salon quality results at home.
When I used my old hair straightener it was never flat, it would feel wirey and have lots of fuzz like I had put my hand in a power socket, but this is totally opposite.
It took 15 seconds to heat up and it displays the heat counting up to your requirement which I thought was cool.
There is a slight buzz which is the ionator working.
Im redundant at the moment so it was a lot of money and review reading to spend but ITS WORTH IT.

This straightener makes doing my hair so quick and easy. I had used other brands but because of the thickness, I find I can do large sections at a time and so spend less time doing my hair. Really like it.
