"rental" fee applied) and export (with FIT applied) excess electricity from and to the grid, utilising spare capacity of batteries within the VPP. This "power co-op" creates backup augmentation in protracted blackouts.

The Tesla app enables viewing in real time of diagrams and data relating to: battery state; grid-panels-battery-usage; power flows; and other info to enable monitoring and decisions for the most cost-effective use of electricity over selected daily to yearly periods.

The storm on Tuesday 10 November 2020 caused the electricity grid in this rural residential area to fail from about 10pm until 10am the following day. Throughout that period, the Tesla Powerwall backup system worked perfectly, supplying uninterrupted power to: water pump (tank water only); sewage treatment / disposal pump and aerator; pump alarm / house light circuit; and fridge circuit.

My neighbours couldn't work out why my lights remained on during the blackout, so I was happy to refer them (as I had others previously) to Nicola at NRG with a view to upgrading their solar systems. Thanks again to Eddy and all at NRG - and installation contractor Nigel Griffin - for your excellent advice, efficient customer service, and a terrific power management system.

polite and tidy. Installation was rescheduled because of rain but they did arrive bright and early the following Monday. The installation disappointing as the agreed layout was not adhered to and it wasn't until installation was complete that we went out to see the panels to find out that they were not installed as agreed. The manager apologised for the lack of communication and for not providing a contract variation agreement and he did offer free cleaning of the panels. We received a reminder to pay the last of our bill which we felt we should not have done as part of the installation was if you are not happy with your installation you could withhold a portion of payment. We did however pay the remaining money out of courtesy. Customer service initially was really good but once we had a problem with installation and connection of our inverter to the grid, I found emails were not being answered in a timely manner, if at all, until we persisted with receiving a response. We had to follow up on grid connection, over many weeks, this I feel should have been followed up by NRG to make sure that everything was ready to go as soon as the installation was completed.

NRG demanded payment in full to action the warranty... now I can not get even a return phone call. Should be able to charge my batteries with my generator in times of need , this has not worked from day 1. Wrote this review a week ago , since then NRG have made good on this problem . Show details

Solar Upgrade – After a couple of initial hiccups due to weather and the pitch of our roof, everything went great. We were supposed to have a Tesla Powerwall Battery system installed, but due to delivery delays and expected continued delays, a Sonnen battery system was installed as an alternative. Sales Rep Nicola arrived on time; went through all the products available and checked our current electricity bill with our existing old solar panels. We discussed our options for panels with and without batteries. She also completed a check list to identify what appliances we wanted to nominate as essential to be run from the battery in case of blackouts. This was something no other company had discussed with us.

We chose NRG over the other 3 SA Companies because of the top quality products and the advice given by Nicola we felt comfortable spending that amount of money for both Solar and Batteries.

We were kept up-to-date through the whole process right up to the day of installation.

On the day of installation everything was explained by the Electrician, Alex and the effort Alex and Joe put in for the entire installation was exemplary. All the installers did an amazing job, explained everything and cleaned up after themselves, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Nicola was extremely knowledgeable and a huge asset to your business. Nicola, Alex and Joe definitely deserve much kudos and with staff like them you will go far. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with them and the rest of your team back at the office.

I have had no problems with any hardware whatsoever (18 months in). Blackout protection works well, usually we're unaware when it kicks in. Solar installation – The company was good until after the installation. The smart meter never worked and i could not get any assistance from NRG to fix it. Eventually I just gave up and it has never worked since. I got the impression that follow up service was not a priority for NRG. Show details
