Had to replace battery twice in 1 year – 2 battery replacements in 1 yr then completely died 1 year later. Did not overuse neither, only used once every couple of days. Customer service was unhelpful. Never will buy another neato product. Show details

Excellent little machine! – Our first Neato lasted four years with only one battery replacement and one roller replacement required. Works very well on hardwoods and carpets. Large enough dustbin for daily cleans. Second machine recently purchased is more powerful and quicker to return to charging station. We are very happy with our machine. Show details

Great vacuum, terrible quality – Bought the Botvac D in Sept 2016. It required fixing and 2 new batteries before the entire unit was replaced in Feb 2018 because the navigation system died. Replaced another battery that year and now the wheel drive has died on the replacement unit. Neato robotics (Dean in Dublin) thinks 3 years is a reasonable build quality for a $1000 machine and refuses to replace it. Show details

Neato bots designed to break- 2 BROKEN - do not buy – Cleans great until it failed. First robot failed just inside warranty. They couldn't replace as they didn't have it anymore. Had to pay a little extra for a different one. Second one has failed just outside of warranty. Company is of no use to help. Pricey and designed to break. Show details

Only Buy This If You've Got Money To Throw Away – I had the neato replaced after only 8 months and now the replacement has lasted 9 months. Neato are telling me the replacement isn't covered under manufacturer warranty, so they don't even expect it to last a year. When it did work it constantly got stuck or couldn't get out of a corner. So after having it scheduled to vacuum while I was at work… Read more

I'd still come home to have to manually vacuum. I feel so ripped off. Never ever will I buy another piece of American junk.

Bad quality, poor service – On the 16/9/2017 I bought at MYERS a Neato D8500 Botvac Robotic cleaner. It worked satisfactorily until June 2018. I contacted then the agents of Neato listed in the warranty. I was told by a representative, when requesting repair under warranty, that the warranty was almost over and that the battery was not covered. I managed to get the unit… Read more

serviced under warranty. It came back, it worked one day and then failed. It took 3 tries over several weeks to get it fixed. In September 2018 It started playing-up intermittently about one failure every couple of weeks. A reset would clear the fault so being out of warranty I put up with it. By December 2018 the battery held hardly any charge. I purchased a new battery on 04/01/19 at a cost of $139.95. In March 2019 unit died completely. Sent it for repairs to a company interstate (the same one I bought the battery from). 2 weeks later no communication from this company. I e-mailed them on 03/04/19. Their answer “Yes, it is here, we will be looking at it early next week.” One month later nothing, so another e-mail. Their answer (verbatim) “Sorry, I thought we had sent the quote for this; it has just been sent.” Cost of repair: $330. I proceeded with the repair. Finally, on the 17/05/19 it arrived. The battery was dead, not flat but dead. Obviously, if they tested the unit it wasn’t with this battery. I ordered another battery from different supplier before contacting the repair company to test the unit first with another battery. After about a week without problems I contacted the repair company explaining what happened and demanded a new free replacement battery. Of course, I got no battery, no apologies, just that “all units are tested after repairs”. Conclusion: From my above experience only buy products from companies that are established here in Australia and have their own service departments. If not, when a product fails after the warranty expires dump it and buy a new one.

Terrible. Been through 2 vaccs in 20 months – Trouble with this vacc from 3 months old. Not charging, not completing vacuum of the house. Replaced under Myer warranty. OK to start with then has issues – Pros: It cleans well on wood and tiled floors, great for dog hair. Cons: After a year the battery dies and will need a new battery every year after that!! $100 for a replacement battery. then after 2 1/2 years the spinning brush stopped working, looked up to but a replacement but too hard to replace and you have to completely dismantle the unit to do it. now sitting and collecting dust in the corner!!  Show details

Third time lucky – Our first Neato Connected failed after about a year or so, which made me devastated as I relied on it so much. replaced us with a new one. This time the botvac worked so well without any hitch for more than a year now. I realised that we didn't change the filter often enough the first time. We now change the filter monthly.

We have floorboards and rugs which the botvac clean reasonably well, it picks up lots of the dogs hair and climb over obstacles like table feet etc without any problem. Very happy that we finally find the one.

Keep your house clean with the neat-o Neato! – Neato (say it with an Aussie accent, it is not Ne-ya-tow!) is our family best friend, cleaning the house while we're at work, and keeping the cats amused, so we come home to a clean home and content kitties! back to the base station. After a few months we had a problem where it wouldn't charge, and the company was fantastic dealing with the problem, sending out a new battery which resolved the problem. We love coming home and seeing the carpets freshly vacuumed and the floors free from cat hair. Thanks Neato! I've been recommending it to all my friends.

Only built to last one year – Just within warranty it has broken with the please clean my dustbin warning. They sent replacement battery to no avail. Poor customer service and the unit remains sitting broken in our garage. It basically cost us $100 a month to clean, and we used it a lot, so I guess it has been ok but expect to get 2 years minimum out of a unit  Show details

Only buy it if you are a lucky person for the rest of us my advice is "don't" – I bought my Neato on September 16th last year and it worked fine until the end of last month. Then it failed. After having it ‘repaired” under warranty by Neato support it was sent back to me with no information about the repair. Finally, I learnt that the display board was faulty. It worked for a couple of days and then it failed again. After… Read more

arranging another pick-up, I went through another wasted day at home waiting for the courier. It came back again with no information and when asked for details I was told that it was an intermittent fault and that this time the ‘main board’ was the problem. This second time It worked for exactly 2 days and today it failed again. It says: “Please open my dirt bin and push switch DOWN to ON”. Of course, the switch is ON already. It is stuck in this mode no matter what I do.

After 22 days in this situation, and reading other similar negative reviews here, I think it is useless to contact again the so called ‘NEATO support’.

I definitely would no recommend this brand as the product is bad quality and the ‘support’ team even worse.

But whilst operating Neato was great amazing how much dust gathers over one day. Time will tell how warranty goes regarding replacement unit and life of replacement unit.  Show details

Could be better – I thought it was going to be a lot better then what it is. Doesn’t clean the corners very well as the side brush is very small. Filter is cheap and needs replacing every few months. It’s pretty noisy too. Other then that it’s ok the coolest feature is it goes back to its base  Show details

Poor customer support – Purchased a neato December 2016, Sept 2017 it stopped working. Went thru all the steps and neato ended up sending a new battery. Now it is no longer working again, but am told the battery only has a 6 month warranty. They sent me link where I can purchase a new battery. What you pay for these and they don't support it, waste of money!!!  Show details

makes my life real easy – The vacuum is very easy to use. I'm quite lazy usually and this vacuum makes my house so much cleaner. It is able to vacuum while i'm not at home which i believe is one of its best function. it literally picks up everything and works very well so far.  Show details

Best idea ever – This vacuum picks up everything. One perk of having a robot vacuum is that it makes me keep clutter off the floor . I haven’t used a regular vacuum in a year . I run it most days and am quite horrified at the volume of dust and garbage that we drop in a day .  Show details

Warning don’t buy if you have dark rooms or carpets – What I didn’t realise until I received the product and looked at the manual was the vacuum doesn’t work well on shiny or dark floors we have both. supplier said as I had opened the box the product was now a “second” and full refund would not be issued. lights on and the curtains up to give the vacuum assistance it has vacuumed most of the room. Upon my return home the bot was out of battery in the middle of the bedroom floor. From what I can tell it has done two rooms and I was surprised to find the bin full since the floors were vacuum a couple of days ago.

We have a large wide house polished concrete floors which it doesn’t seem to have a problem with and carpets in bedrooms. the media and main bed have dark carpet. It won’t go into the media as the room is too dark. I can see that I will have problems in winter when it is darker in the house.

I had a deebot previously which worked perfectly for a month before issues arose and from what I can see at this point the deebot actually worked better and would even go under the bed for a fraction of the cost.

It is quiet by comparison but doesn’t come with a remote control.

From my point of view if you have a light bright house with light floors this will work well. If you have a dark, shadowy house or dark floors give it a miss.

Love this little cleaner – We moved at the start of the year to a house that has online tiles. I started researching vacuums and was tossing up between this one and roomba. Went with this once as it's meant to handle animal hair. It's made us get into a good routine, every morning we pick up everything off the floor and while at work it does it's thing. home to clear floors.

It has gotten itself stuck a few times but by using the magnetic strip we're able to keep it out of danger.

Also it does need a little more maintenance (mostly cleaning) than the average vacuum, but with the amount of time it saves me in vacuuming I'm happy to oblige. Wish I bought one years ago.

So much smarter than my last BotVac – I had a Hoover for 3 years and it would bump about and get caught, miss spots, never get back to base by itself!!! Fast forward 3 years and my latest Neato D80 BotVac is a pleasure to watch, so smart, does the whole house in an hour and 20 mins, finds its way straight back to base for a recharge......picks up everything....fantastic, can't wait for the next one in 3 years, might make me a coffee at the same time !!  Show details

He really is great...but sometimes we call him bad names – I bought Finn (that's Finn Neato..say it fast..(we name everything)..anyway) because I was due to have some fairly major knee surgery and, with 3 big dogs and a fairly large house, I wanted to take the vacuuming pressure off the household. My husband and son were skeptical, but he really has been a tremendous help. He cleans wood, tiles, even… Read more

our thick pile rug in the bedroom, all with ease, his battery life is excellent and I also love how easy he is to take apart and clean. His interface is really straightforward and he's chatty enough to alert you to any problems he needs help with. For such a small unit he picks up a surprising amount of dirt.

On the downside, I do think he is still quite clumsy and I had higher expectations for his manoeuvring and obstacle avoidance. He gets stuck under our (heavy) dining chairs and has tipped one over which landed on him - and he continued vacuuming with the chair on top of him. He also rides up the bases of our bar stools and then becomes beached and can't get back down - this is when the name calling starts. I appreciate that small objects need to be moved out of the way, but I would expect that he could cope with chairs!

Knowing all of this I would buy him again and I hope that he has some longevity as that was my main concern in reading other Neato reviews.

Fantasic machine – I have had Roomba's before but the Neato Connected is much better, I like the mapping an navigation and that it does not bump into furniture like the Roomba, plus the bigger bin and filter. I got mine on a 30 free return from Australia Robotic, just wan't sure after having Roomba's. I'll be keeping it for sure.  Show details

Thankful, some minor cons – Bought this after I moved into a new unit that was fully carpeted across all bedrooms, lounge and dining area. I have a cat with long and thick fur and thought that it would be an absolute nightmare for me to be vacuuming every week. Ever since I purchased this I've had no regrets - I've not had the need to vacuum for weeks. I program my Botvac to… Read more

clean every alternate day, 4x per week. It has saved me so much time and I'm relieved as I have a bad back too.

Cons:

- The filter is hard to clean as the dust sticks to it. Cleaning the tray can get a little messy.

- Occasionally it needs 'rescuing'. It gets stuck in random areas with no obstructions, or it shuts the door on itself whilst cleaning and bumping into it and only ends up cleaning the one room. Bathroom rugs can get it stuck too.

Because of this I don't have the confidence to schedule a clean while I'm out at work, in case it needed rescuing.

I love it – One of the best things I have ever bought (for now anyhow). It's clever, thorough and saves me time. I am always amazed at how much dust and pet hair it collects. It's slow and methodical and I think that's the secret to it's success. I love it.  Show reply

Absolutely fantastic IF reliability & battery life do not become an issue – We have had a Botvac 85 for 8 months now, purchased after a lot of research. Up to now we were of the opinion they were a bit gimicky. It gets a run 2 or 3 times a week over tiled & carpeted floors. Our house is not small but on one level. The Botvac does a great job, only requiring the house built in system to be used about every 6 weeks. Of… Read more

course more frequent attention is required in small confined spaces.

The suction, speed & versatility are excellent. We have a dog & cat inside & the Botvac does a remarkable job & one wonders how so much hair & dust can collect in such a short time between runs.

The Botvac is light enough to be repositioned & is not noisy or distracting.

A couple of months after purchase the laser guidance system failed & with help from Botvac "Support on line", were able to get it going again. Then two weeks ago the laser system again failed, this time not responding to the earlier fix. After several "Chats" to Botvac Support on line, Botvac offered to replace our Botvac 85. Two weeks later a Botvac 80 was delivered.

We will be enormously disappointed if this failure is a sign of things to come, because we believe this is a really great product when it is working. In this busy day & age, vacuuming can become a time consuming & boring task, which can now be alleviated with the use of a robotic vacuum cleaner.

Wow! We're impressed! – We spent a bit of time researching robot vacs, we were a bit cautious given that it's fairly new technology so we wanted to wait to be sure before spending $1000+! Our biggest issue was that the other models all seemed to have tiny bins - the neato's bin isn't huge either but it's still about 50% bigger than most. We have two dogs so our biggest… Read more

issue is dog hair, the neato laps it up. We have it programmed for an hour each day and our floors are virtually hair free. If you're home when it's running it is reasonably loud, about the same as a small vacuum, but that's the other reason we were sold on the neato - it is more of a vacuum rather than just a sweeper like most of the cheaper models. It doesn't like shoes, underwear, etc so it's a good way of forcing you to keep the floors clear.

We've had our neato for about three weeks now and haven't had any issues, would highly recommend!
