Great little vacuum – Love this little machine. I have 3 dogs so this is a life saver as it picks up a lot of their dog hair and means I only have to do a proper vacuum every two weeks. The only shortcomings of this machine is it's poor battery life. I have to replace them every year Show details
Love this machine!!! – Is heaps better than iRobot 780 that I had previous. Is an actual vacuum it picks everything up only thing its missing is a side brush, its light to pick up, a little noisier, maneuvers ok. The area it does is Carpet a bit of Lino in a 2bedroom house. Show details
4.5 stars – This is my first robotic cleaner and did my research before buying it 2 yrs ago. So far used under 20 times for a 6m x 5m room. Never changed battery, cleaned filter every other vacuum. My usage is for closed room. It works well, systematically scan and cleans the room really nice, go around obstacles and almost all times return to base. My… Read more
only gripe is that it tends to realize it needs to charge the battery only after I start the cleaner despite the fact that its been always connected to the charger. In this scenario the robo cleans until the charge runs out and then goes back to base to charge again which is a waste of time. If it always maintained 100% charge it can clean my room in one go. Otherwise this one would have got a 5 star.

Extraordinarily annoying – When bin is full, it does not stop beeping, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Yes, it needs to alert when bin is full, but sometimes one can't get to it straight away, but stupid Neato keeps on beeping over and over and over and over and over again. This is highly upsetting when you're in the middle of… Read more
something else and trying to concentrate hard.
It cleans ok, but I would suggest avoiding it and buying another vacuum instead to avoid constant beeping over and over and over and over and over again in your ears forever never stopping ever and beeping over and over again.
Died after couple years, useless customer service – Purchased the product for my parents couple years ago. Had a lot of issues from the beginning. Needed a lot of babysitting, but did some cleaning when felt like it. Few days ago we tried to charge it and it started to give us a message "Please press OKAY to restart. Battery Issue (0002)". Restart didn't help.It starts to charge for few seconds,… Read more

Contacted Neato Customer Support. Spent half an hour on a chat with Kian. Completely useless. After trying few troubleshooting steps, they said this is all they can do and they will contact me.
Got an email from them asking for receipt. I don't have the receipt - they replied there is nothing they can do. Suggested to send it to repair center in US. I'm in Canada, so I need to pay $50-70 CAD for shipping, plus another $90 USD ($120 CAD) for repair, not including parts. That would be total of ~200 CAD not including parts for a robot that costs $400.
Google search shows that this is a well known problem. Probably factory defect, but Neato won't take responsibility. The $400 robot is going to garbage after just couple years of use.
Never again Neato.
Works well then just stopped – When it works well it is good. Very good at cleaning. But have had to replace twice. Great service from David Jones but terrible product. Was glad I bought it from DJ'S so I did not have to deal with the company given how bad their reviews are for service

LOVE MY NEATO – I purchased the xv-21 as we have a malamute and a husky to help keep the fur under control in the house, and it really has been great, its been used on both hard floors and carpet, lots of uneven surfaces, its worked hard for me, i have owned for around 8 years now, i am just now replacing some things like the brush belt, and brush. parts are… Read more
quite easy to find on ebay and yesterday i pulled the whole thing down completely to clean inside and replace the belt, a couple of youtube videos showed me where all the screws were and how to get it apart, i got it back together and its working perfectly today. Initially it was used every single day (i have replaced the batteries twice with non neato with no troubles) I did a lot of research before buying this vacuum, it was a lot of money for me to spend, and I can honestly say, neato is as clever as my research led me to believe. I am extremely happy with this vacuum, it had been put away for about 2 years since we moved and I just hadnt set it up and cleared paths for it, but its on its charger now ready to do the second half of the house. I bought the aftermarket filters which are perfect. So for the large initial outlay of money, i feel I purchased something which does what it was supposed to do, you can work on it yourself and replace anything you need to at a very reasonable cost, nothing on this vacuum has worn out unless it deserved to and the electronics, considering they are subjected to quite a bit of dust in there, have performed brilliantly with just the odd glitch here and there over the years, so all in all very happy customer here.
Best of the best but a few dramas – Positive side: The Neato Botvac is arguably the best robotic vac on the market in terms of feature and functionality. The intelligent LIDAR room mapping will leave your carpets look like a freshly mowed lawn with stripes up and down the room. Unlike the competition, it does the perimeter and then fills in the gaps nicely. Suction is… Read more
surprisingly good and picks up heaps of dust! You do need to clean the bin after every run. (Which is good as it means it’s working!)
Warning! You will find yourself walking around the room watching in amazement as this little box navigates around your living room :)
The negative side: It has been unfortunately somewhat unreliable. The LCD screen failed after a short time. It has a few sensor issues and will randomly go backwards riding up the wall. The battery was good for about a year before replacing with a $50 new one. (This is an acceptable cost considering how hard it works). Customer support was not very helpful back in the day however they are improving. Most frustrating is that they can’t supply parts.
If your into robotics in any form and are willing to modify your room to allow the magic to happen. You will find this a rewarding experience.
That being said, I recommend paying for the extended warranty. And wouldn’t buy one without it.
Have fun!
Great robotic vacuum – The neato xv-21 is a little ripper of a vacuum , I have 3 dogs and it cleans up after them daily. I have it scheduled to start at 9:30am every morning and my house has never been so clean and hair free. It doesn't miss a spot as is scans the room to map the area and then of it goes from room to room until the who house is clean. If it runs low on… Read more
battery it returns to its dock to charge then continues where it left from, it also tells you when its bin needs emptying or if it get caught on something like a power cord.
It is much better then the other brands because it cleans in a forward and back pattern it doesn't just bounce from wall to wall.
stopped working within the first year, very bad customer service – I bought this robot vacuum cleaner in May 2015. It has stopped working several times within the first few months. Out of the blue it would not start for days, and then it runs again for a few weeks. Now it is April 2016 and it stopped completely. The customer service is appalling! No answer to emails and they left me with the feeling of… Read more
dissatisfaction and showing no sense of care. Very disappointing. This is not a good product, very unreliable and faulty. People on the helpline need serious customer service training!
It is a timebomb. the laser will fail – This gadget was very expensive and seemed to work okay in the beginning. However within 2 years it died and needed to be sent back for repair. The spinning laser was apparently misaligned and could not be repaired. Being unrepairable the extended warranty the price was refunded. Really really happy I got an extended warranty on this dud of a product.
Fantastic! – I use this machine in between proper vacuuming. Like all vacuums, unless you change the nozzle, it won't clean to the very edge of a wall or furniture, so I usually sweep this area at the same time it is on or before. It works systematically and doesn't randomly clean your floor. I was so pleased with it, I bought another 3 to give to family for… Read more · 1
presents. My sister, especially loves it, as it cleans her large house while she is at work. It feels like I now have a little helper!
Piece of junk with NO customer support from company – Don't ever buy a Neato product. They are rubbish. They are super expensive and will die within a year and the company could not care less. Their contact phone no just disconnects. They're Live Chat just says 'Waiting"?! No response via email. Save your money and your time. Not happy.

Both Died within 8 months! – I purchased an XV-21 two years ago that had issues and needed replacement after about 8 months. Received another unit and it also died about 8 months later! The LCD screen on this one went completely blank. Out of warranty now. For an expensive gadget, they sure aren't very reliable!
Battery will only last 2 years (if that) no support from retailer – I purchased my Neato robot in December 2013 and originally i would have posted a very positive review. The robot stopped charging like a few people on here have said, so i contacted dhsk (the Australian supplier) and i sent it back at their cost for repair, it came back with the issue not resolved. it was a great product. forward a month later and basically they want me to pay a further $150 to repair my product because it only had a one year warranty, really Neato? are you telling me that your product is only designed to last 2 years before breaking? for shame if this is the case, i purposefully purchased from David Jones and not eBay even though it would have saved me money because i wanted to know if something went wrong i would be protected.
well lesson learned, do not buy a Neato product.
Bad customer service – UPDATE 07/12/2015 10 months on and I have still not been contacted by Neato. Very angry and disappointed. ****** I purchased a Neato XV-21 less than 6 months ago. way through the area. The machine has now completely stopped working. I set the timer and it stops after approx 15-30 seconds, says that it is finished and then stops dead in its tracks. I have contacted the customer service line 4 times and have left a message each time and no one is available and wont return my call. I have also sent two emails with no reply either. It has been just over two weeks with no reply. I purchased this machine because I was going in for major surgery and was not going to be able to vacuum for two months. I am a rock in a hard place because I have now had the surgery and do not have any vacuum. I will now have to pay for a cleaner to come and maintain my floors but I simply cant afford it. If this vacuum what a cheap $100 machine I would not expect much but this machine was close to $1000 with extended warranty (what a joke that is) and it is now simply a very expensive dust collector and a huge disappointment.
Awesome design. Expect to get new batteries every 2 years, and may need to change the capacitors on – Awesome machine! It has intelligent vision that scans the room and logically cleans it in patterns. Had Neato XV-21 for 3 years, done a lot of cleaning. It needed new batteries after about 2 years, and recently I had to fix it See this video or search for Comeinhandynow Neato https://youtu.be/Rw4JVeu5pxs
Worst purchase ever – I got this robot last year and its my worst purchase ever. I wish i could get my money back. It never fully clean the surface and get stuck all the time. Mine is a wooden floor, it's not versatile as at all I read all the good reviews on it and purchased a junk.
The Best Robot Vacuum I've Reviewed! – I purchased my neato about 2 years ago and it great (when it works) except recently its been running out of charge and getting confused about where it is and a message will pop up on the screen saying "please clear my path" when there is nothing in front of it. I contacted neato and they said to first go into settings-support and select new… Read more
battery this didn't work so I contacted them again and they said to get a new battery! its only 2 years old! and I have to buy another battery for it, and the battery costs $50 to $60 dollars! if i have to replace the battery every 2 years then it going to cost me alot to maintain!
May 22nd 2017 Update: It's Good
Bought this robot in 2014 seeing the reviews were so great. It is better at cleaning and mapping than my Roomba 880. Using it for the 2 years it was amazing, it didn't miss a spot and its suction is really good and got my house done in 2 battery cycles. BUT. After about 2 years disaster struck. It stopped holding charge when cleaning. I was quite annoyed as I expected it to last a lot longer. I purchased new batteries and it worked well for a month or so and then it ran into another problem. It kept showing errors saying "Please clear my path" or "My vision was blocked", when there is nothing in front of it! I contacted customer support and they said to clean it out and clean its laser. When that didn't work they told me to reset it. After that still not resolving the problem I was told to send it out for repairs (still waiting for it to come back working). It was quite a hassle for something that is meant to make your life easier. Overall it's a really great vacuum and gets the job done (when it works). Hope Neato improves in the future!
Just completely unreliable! 3 units, and can never get them all woking – Bought these approx 2 years ago. When they work, they work very well. They clean better in some ways than my Dyson vac. But that's when they work. More often than not, they don't work! I have 3 units. I have never, at any one time, had all 3 working. In 2 years, I have had premature battery failure on 2 units, a dead LCD on one,… Read more
motherboard issues on another, and ongoing vague error codes, freezing, lock outs, the thing can't find the base, the things can't charge....everything.
This morning, I find 2 are completely dead. One I managed to reboot (with a lot of difficulty, given the purported hard reset didn't do squat). The second is dead as doorpost, and won't charge, reset, turn on or anything. It's not batteries. Gods knows what it is! But it's pinin' for the fjords.
I'm pretty technical. I've had one of these apart and replaced a LCD (not something I'd recommend unless you're experienced, mind, as apart from voiding any warranty, they're a sod to work on) but I've had enough of it.. The problems are so vague, who'd know where to start?
I can never rely on them to be ready to vacuum when I want them to. This defeats the entire purpose of owning them
Unfortunately, I bought them from Amazon, in the US. Mainly because the Australian distributors are complete rip off merchants (Why should I have to pay THREE times the price for the privilege of buying these locally?)
That's right. I paid $350 US, compared to $900+ in Australia, when the dollar was $1.10US. There is absolutely no justification for this! Like everything here, some suppliers rip you off. Neato is one.
So, no option for repair here. Even so, they're out of warranty.
Would I recommend these?
Not on your life! If they were reliable, then absolutely! They clean great.
They just have no reliability, and this is from an owner of THREE machines!
I don't know whether Roomba are better, but they sure as hell can't be any worse!
Anyone want to buy an expensive paperweight or two?
Makes vacuuming a breeze – I purchased this 19 months ago. Unit was replaced under warranty at 13 months after several problems. The second unit has been much better. I use it on carpets only as it is quicker to sweep tiled floors. Carpets are cleaned as efficiently and thoroughly as with a conventional cleaner. I would not recommend if your room is cluttered. The unit works better when free of obstacles so i lift any objects before starting then i walk away!
CS, "Things Break Sometimes" – I've also been meaning to write a review for some time now. I LOVED my Neato (I've had 2 now). I thought it was the greatest. I'm a busy, working mother, and running it means my house isn't a total disaster all the time. I got my first Neato as a gift. In less than 1 year I started to have the "Battery error 0002". After contacting Customer… Read more
Service and running all their protocols I was advised to buy new batteries ($75) which I did, which didn't help the issue. Long story short the wonderful CS wound up sending me a brand new vacuum! Cool right! I was very pleased. I thought they were the greatest.
Fast forward 6 months: My new vacuum started exhibiting the exact same symptoms of the first. So I contacted CS again. After being asked to try all of the same things as was requested of me before, and swapping out batteries again, I was told this time that replacement models were only warranted for 90 days. Since I had had mine for 6 months, I was no longer under warranty, and would need to send my Neato to the nearest service center (60 miles away) on my own dime.
After a back and forth online chat where I suggested that it seems odd that my new vacuum would start exhibiting the same symptoms, and that surely this was a problem they were having with these vacuums, and neither of the problems were my error but theirs, that perhaps there was something they could do. "$350 is a lot to spend for a vacuum that only lasts 6 months", I said. The tech actually answered me flippantly, "things break sometimes".
So I called in to talk to someone in person. This tech promised to "escalate" my claim to a manager. I never heard from them again. So my overall take is these vacuums are clever and great. But watch out for duds. The company does not have your back. If you get one, your out your $350 or the service comes out of your own pocket. Very disappointing and I will NEVER buy from this company again.
You had me, Neato, I thought you were the greatest, and you lost me.

Works very well until it doesn't – It appears to be cheaply made as mine died after about 13 months, the LIDAR motor seems to be very cheap as discussed in many forums online. Manufacturer (customer service) very happy NOT to help. It didn't clean the edges very well. Also seems to have poor batteries. I won't be buying this brand again.
2 years + and going strong! – I've had this vacuum since about the time it came out and it is still going strong. The best thing about these Neato vacuums is that you replace the batteries and filters each year and the thing just keeps going. Its just a god send for someone with cats and i couldn't live without it!
Died in under 18 months – These vacuums are good while they last but they are terrible value because they are so expensive and malfunction and die pretty fast. Mine was away inside the warranty period for it's first repair for several weeks and then died again 6 months out of warranty. I think I could have bought 3 other robot vacuums for the price of this one and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't all be dead like this one inside of 18 months from the date of purchase.
Neato Customer Service Australia – What were Neato Robotics Newark thinking when they employed this Neato Australia reseller? Why an ostrich? I agree with those of you who have posted their negative experiences with their Neato. I have had problems with mine from the get go. However, it has to be said that when Neato isn't 'spitting the dummy', it is THE MOST FANTASTIC ROBOTIC… Read more
VACUUM CLEANER ON THIS PLANET!
My biggest beef, apart from wanting my Neato to perform, is with Neato Robotic's Customer Service here in Australia. They are appalling to deal with.
They don't return your calls, they don't reply to emails, and when we last spoke to them, the girl from Peter McInnes Pty (the reseller for Neato Robotics AU) was condescending and dismissive. Not only that, she told me that they did not have any record of my calling them within my warranty period. Nor did they have me in their system for warranty purposes. I had to prove to Peter McInnes Pty, that I had purchased my Neato here in Australia (David Jones). Fortunately, I had everything on file and able to provide them with my details so that they could put me back in their system. Fat lot of good that did. So much happened in between - that I won't go into - lest you fall off your perches with boredom.
Suffice to say, Dec 2014, I was ropable...and now...7 days out of warranty.
So I emailed CustomerCare@ReatoRobotics.com and addressed my complaint to The CEO of Neato Newark. Blow me over if I didn't get an email from Neato AU asking me to ready my Neato for the courier.
Packed and ready to go, I enclosed a list of the problems my Neato was experiencing. These problems are random. My Neato decides to have a conniptions one day and behave the next. But the coma thing was a constant sometimes it refused to wake up.
The result? Neato was returned to me 3rd Feb 2015 with much the same problems. I doubt they even looked at the list? It was left in the box and returned to me.
Neato did not provide a formal written report on the works carried out and what was wrong with my Neato.
5th Feb 2015, I emailed Neato AU requesting the report on the works carried out so that I could keep it on record. Nada.
6th Feb 2015, I emailed Neato AU explaining that my Neato was playing up with much the same problems. Nada.
To this day not one email or phone call from Neato AU. Could Neato treat us with any more disdain? They are exasperating!
Clearly they would like us all to go away - give up.
I don't think so. A few days ago I found my Mojo again (ongoing health problems) and am on the Neato war path.
Yep, teepees, feathers, bows and arrows - the whole shebang. Can't ride a horse, but my old wheelchair will do just fine.
I found that Neato Robotics have a Facebook page. It seems to 'gleam with praise for Neato Robotics customer service' in the USA.
Fingers crossed, I posted my concerns on Neato Robotics Facebook page along with a private message. I got a response in a hiccup and am now waiting for them to get back to me.
I love this little vac, I don't want to split up - but it has been unashamedly unfaithful from the beginning. Let's hope Neato Newark can help us get back together?
I get the feeling that Neato Robotics in the US doesn't understand what is happening down here. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
Neato USA had no idea that my Neato problems were still unresolved.
Neato Robotics got back to me - privated messaged me
"thank you for the feedback regarding your recent experience. Your concern has been escalated to our authorized reseller in Australia"
(Although I am truly grateful, who in their right mind wants to deal with people that don't want to acknowledge your problems?)
There is a possibility that Neato Robotics USA doesn't know about you and your Neato problems?
With all this silent treatment here in Australia, I also worry that Neato may be sitting back waiting for our warranties to run out? An ostrich moment. They don't see us and can't hear us. I am certain that a lot of us would I like to get a little shot at their backside/s. Butt....Karma.
They rub their hands at the point of sale and then wipe their hands soon after. Those of you who have left a 'paper trail' (within your Neato Warranty period) asking Neato AU for help should still have a leg to stand on.
Surely if they have refused to help you within your warranty period, ignored you, the onus is on them to rectify these problems given that they refused to hear you within your warranty period? So send your proof - emails - to Neato Robotics Newark or Maybe the ACCC or consumer affairs could help you?
But, speak to Neato Robotics in the USA first. They deserve at least one shot to remedy our problems.
It's evident that Neatos have inherent problems that for the most part, we, (on this website & other sites) can all identify with. Our Neatos lack the ability to perform consistently.
We can be certain that Neato Robotics are fully aware of these problems and in having said that, I hope that they don't give up.
Firstly, they should not give up on us, the consumer. They should be transparent and treat us with some semblance of respect. Play nice, be fair.
Secondly, they should not give up on Neato - as - when they finally nail it, it will be the runner up to man's best friend.
Whilst I think of it, why use those cheap/shoddy battery packs in a $'s ticket item?
Today, my Neato sits in the naughty corner, on charge - wasting electricity and it will stay there until such time as Neato Robotics repair or replace my Neato with one that actually works.
XV21 AUD $799.00 at this price one would expect stability in performance.
XV21 US $320.00 + $30.00 Postage? Someone's having a lend...
Cheers
So far, so good! – I've heard a few people complain that these robots don't last the distance, and I have had mine since late December, so can't comment on their longevity. I have heard that the batteries don't last long and that it is almost a given that you will have to replace them at around the 6 month mark so bear that in mind if you are considering purchasing.… Read more · 1
So far though, I'm loving it!
Pros -
- Cleans hard floors very well.
- Negotiates obstacles (chair legs, things left on the floor) well.
- Has no problem with the level difference of our rugs.
- Timer works well - coming home to a vacuumed house is lovelyl.
- Cleans under the couch and bed!! Seriously, these areas of my house have never been cleaner.
- Works best in a single room that you can close off - is great for doing bedrooms.
Cons -
- Sometimes gets stuck or runs out of battery before returning to base.
- Filters need to be replaced, and I've only ever seen them for sale online.
- The magnetic strips used as virtual gates are very very ugly. You'd only put them under a rug.
- Can get confused in open plan homes and forgets to vacuum certain areas. When on the timer mine will not clean the hallway.
- Does not always return to base. Again, I think it gets confused with the layout of my house.
- You will need to empty the dust catcher and vacuum the filter after every use (no big deal - takes only a minute).
- The brush needs to be cleaned every week. It's also a very quick job.
And for some the biggie - you really do still need to vacuum, just a lot less often. As this model does not have the little brush sticking out the side it doesn't seem to be able to get right up against the skirting boards. In time you'll be able to see the dust accumulating there. All the same, I continue to be shocked at the amount of crud it picks up every single day.
Overall, I love this thing and am very glad I bought it. I have a Corgi/Beagle cross that sheds a ridiculous amount of hair and the Neato keeps on top of things nicely - no more fur tumbleweeds to deal with on Saturday mornings.
Same problem – At least ours has lasted two years, but now the screen won't come up while the charge light sits on green (but no rotation). I suspect the batteries, but see the nearest repairer to the Gold Coast is near Newcastle. Perhaps cheaper to buy the competitor, which I see has a lower profile and shouldn't get stuck under our bed as this model did. It's a high price for just two years work.

Pretty good! – bought our neato "mike" last week. I was initially skeptical but had a few friends who bought this brand/version who raved about it. I'm impressed. quickly and precisely. I love that he can get under beds, coffee table etc that I can't / wouldn't bother to vaccumm under regularly. He also learnt to jump up the 20mm lip into the kitchen to clean that area too which he didn't do initially. We have two dogs , one lab that drops ridiculous amounts of hair every time he's inside, we can actually enjoy having the dogs inside again because when we put them out, mike goes on and cleans up all the mess!! The dust bin is also pretty big I think, we only need to empty it every second go. Love it!!
Very disappointing – Same problem - after the first few weeks, started to display the message "My vision is blocked", and stopped, even in the middle of an empty room. cleaning of just one room. Manual reset (press "Okay") required each time, which meant that the machine required constant attention. Useless! Why can't it reset itself electronically?
Machine didn't meet my needs, which is to come home to clean floors after a day at work. Not to come home to 2 m2 clean, and the machoine beeping at me to me it's "vision is blocked".
In the end I gave up and returned the machine to Myers and asked for my money back - no problems from Myers.
Pity really, as the machine really had a good vacuum, and I liked the logical way it approached the cleaning task (until it stopped).
Think I might try Roomba next. Hopefully will be more reliable than the Neato.
Cleans well, if it doesn't get lost – First month of having this Nintendo Entertainment System on wheels was great: it cleaned the house and returned to base mostly without a glitch. Best investment in years! – We are blown away at how our Neato has exceeded our expectations. We have a 41/2 year old Labrador dog who sheds hair every day (no matter how often we brush him) and we are sick and tired of all the "tumbleweed" hair balls in the house. age. Now with Neato I don't have to bust my back vacuuming every blinking day - and we come home to a daily vacuumed pristine floor. It's wonderful to walk around the house with bare feet on floorboards that are clean! It is awesome! When we show it to friends they are a bit skeptical but one such friend has now bought one too! Neato is indeed neat-o. Don't even hesitate to buy it. No problems at all. Bought it at Myer Sydney City store and got an extended warranty. Saving a fortune on cleaner bills. Paid for itself in less than two months!
Excellent Robot that does the job – I have had my little robot vacuum now for over 2 years. I chose it after much research and checking online. This is was originally released in the USA and has got great reviews. The reasons I chose it are that it actually maps out the room that it is in to ensure it covers most areas and then moves on. It utilises a rotating laser on the top to… Read more
ensure it maps the room correctly. In saying this, you have to ensure this is dust free for accurate mapping.
Also it is more a vacuum than a "sweeper" robot like the ones that have rotating brushes. The new Neato's fix this problem by having little rotating brushes in conjuction with the powerful vacuum.
I have had problems with the neato docking, but this was because it was not given 20-30cm free from clutter either side of the docking station. Once this was cleared or moved, then there was no problem. This is a common problem with all robot vacs.
Battery concerns are another thing with this robot. If the robot isnt left to trickle charge and consistently discharged to the point it turns off, then with all things battery powered, the battery will not hold charge.
My wife kept turning the robot off trickle charge and the battery life fell dramatically, i then reset the battery in the menus "New Battery" and ensured it got trickle charged and she is as good as new.
All parts are available new and second hand off ebay which makes it easy. I also bought another neato that has electrical problems, so this is now my spare parts robot. All items on this robot are easily taken apart, cleaned and replaced if required.
I keep mine well maintained and cleaned and it hasn't missed a beat.
Like with all robot vacuums, they are not to be used for cleaning the whole house in place of a full size vacuum and should not be judged as such. I have a son and he drops little bits here and there, dirt comes in and crumbs here and there. For this it saves me doing a full vacuum from once a week to now once a fortnight, this in conjuction with a small handheld.
Life saver!
Died after 12 months – I was really happy with my Neato to begin with. As time went on we started getting battery error messages, Neato started getting lost, trying to dock the wrong way round , not cleaning all areas in the house, completely missing out the kitchen. However as with many other owners I too have had a plethora of errors and faults (eg. blocked path, stuck wheel, vision blocked etc or just plain… Read more
confused) I always give it a reset/restart by holding down the start button before I send it on it's merry way, and it seems to have helped to a degree. The battery life is getting woeful, especially when it hasn't been run for a week or so. It used to be able to finish the whole house before it had gone through its 3 charge cycles but now it struggles to get around half. New Larger capacity batteries are available of auction sites, and I think I might need an upgrade soon.
A tip for other owners, I split up a tissue and use 1 ply in front of the filter to help keep it clean, you just lay it over the inside of the filter, clip it into the dust bin, and tear off the excess before you reinstall the bin. When you empty it next time you throw it out and install a new one. no mess, no fuss. Follows the walls without bumping, Magnetic strips, I don't have to do it ;) Last firmware update Jan 2013, Battery life, Errors and faults, no side brush, NOISE
