Awesome warranty replacement

I ordered a 3/2 steamer at the start of winter 2023, at the end of winter I noticed one of the seams was failing near the chest zip, I didn’t get around to contacting Needs until early 2024 but they were happy to replace with a new one and it arrived less than a week later. This is the 4th wetsuit I’ve had from them and will keep going back. Show details

Best wetsuit I've had in a very long time

I’ve had a Need 4/3 liquid taped chest zip wetsuit for over 3 years now and its still going strong. It doesn’t leak, it hasn’t gone baggy like some other brands do and is very warm. Its probably the best winter wetsuit I’ve had in over 20 years. Fantastic service too by the crew in Torquay. I recommend them! Show details

Need Essentials 3/2 Liquid Taped Thermal Chest Zip Wetsuit

With the exception of a few very windy days I have been wearing this suit all through this winter in Victoria.
Fits me perfectly and being able to wear a 3/2 through most of the winter has been great. Show details

Great wetsuit but very tight around chest and shoulders

4/3 chest zip size 8. Great wetsuit. Warm and doesn’t let water in but I bought the size 8 cos that’s the size I wear in rip curl heatseeker. Fits great on rest of my body but shoulders and arms are very tight making paddling very fatiguing. Wish I had bought the size 10! Show details

Warm but no room for the meat and 2 vedge

Got the 3/2 liquid tape a few months ago. Good fit and keeps me warm.
However, I am not sure if they test their suits on females or what but there is absolutely no room in the crutch area for your package. The 2 vedge get pushed up in to your stomach which makes for a very painful surf. Almost unbearable at times.
This is the same with my needs springy.

Great suits, just need a bit more room for the Johnson. Show details

Consistently great product

This is my 3rd Needsessential wetsuit (4/3 front zip, externally taped seams) and the product is consistently good. Used the latest one today and hardly knew I was wet for the first 10 minutes. Show details

fit not great

4/3 Liquid Taped Thermal Chest Zip.
Pretty disappointed in the fit of this. it gathers around the neck and the diagonal zip is very hard to get over the shoulder when taking off. ive used it once in the water and found the movement very restrictive. hopefully it loosens up. it was very warm and cosy though. the liquid taping definitely keeps you dry.
im regretting not returning it after i tried on at home. Show details

3/2 yulex Liquid Taped Easy Entry Chest Zip Wetsuit

I received my new wetsuit nice and quickly. When I first tried it on, I thought they had sent me a wetsuit 3 sizes to small. I could barely breath it was that tight. After contacting them I was assured that it only needed to be used 5 times and it would be perfect. It has been 6 months through a Sydney winter and can say it is warm BUT it is way too restrictive in the shoulders. My last wetsuit was Quiksilver and it was good. This Yulex is terrible for stretch.
I would not recommend or buy again. Show details

Returns procedure is excellent

I've bought a few need wetsuits in the past. All have been of great quality with a great price.
Delivery times are also super fast - usually next day delivery from Torquay to Sydney.
However, the latest 4/3 steamer was too small so i wanted to return it. Needessentials gave
me a range of options for the return (full refund, exchange for another type of suit or a
larger one of the same). All has gone very smoothly. Their professionalism is impressive. Show details

Outstanding warmth and comfort

Absolutely rapt with my new 5/4 wetsuit that I just bought from the crew at Need Essentials. It's my first suit from Need and it's so warm and comfortable.
Pricing is great as well.
Well done Need, doing great things and you've definitely got a new customer!

Quality Wetsuit's 3/4 thermal and 3/2 liquid tape. Epic!

Received a couple suites today both fit very well the sizing is spot on. I have worn needessentials gear for years and will continue. Great for those chilli winter days when it’s hard to get out of the warm car heating. Also recommend there fins as they are good shapes and of high quality, I have been riding them
In my boards in quality waves of Indonesia and love them. Highly recommend.

Differing quality

I have found the wetsuits to be fantastic and I’ve had a few from need. I recently bought a set of fins from need essentials (which they just raised the price by an extra $20) and the shapes are great however the build quality is not. Sat my board on it’s side for a day leaned up against the inside of the car and one of the fins has a clear bend in it. This has never happened in any other fin I own and I have a zillion of them. l still would recommend the brand, hopefully its something they can sort out as time goes on.

The ultimate winter wetsuit - 6/4/3 Liquid Taped Thermal Hooded Chest Zip Wetsuit

Winters are tough in the east coast of Canada. Ocean temps hover around 0°C to +4°C, while air temps fluctuate from -25°C to +5°C (excluding wind chill). This NeedsEssentials 6/4/3 liquid taped thermal chest zip easily outperformed other mainstream branded suits I've used. Flexible, drys very quickly, and most importantly is very warm! I couldn't recommend this suit more. While others in the lineup are chattering their teeth and frozen, I remained toasty warm for 3hr sessions.
Customer service was amazing too, getting the suit to Canada promptly after my order. Show details

Hi is the chest zip like Oneil wetsuits were you just pull it straight across or do you need to join the zipper and then pull it across?

John Archer

It pulls straight across similar to Oneil but it seems to operate more smoothly.

Hi. I’m curious about the 643 suit. I want to know where the different thicknesses are dispersed throughout the suit.
Thank you

I see lots of contradicting advice on size, it would be awesome if all reviewers put their weight and their height with wetsuit size in stead of just "fit is perfect". I am 6'1 87KGs 33" waist super broad shoulders. I wear am Oniell LT and Vissla XL. looking for size advice, get a XL or a LT. Thanks in advance
