The loose leaf tea looks like a manufactured tea product. When steeped, the leaves are a mash rather than any identifiable leaf or leaf part. The taste is good enough, so I am thinking some cheaply available mash (waste product of a higher grade tea?) with tea flavouring? Show details

Very loose leaf tea. Just bought some from Woolworths today and due to measly costs cutting measures there was no inner paper lining to keep the loose tea from spilling out of the box, which it did in my shopping bag. No attempt by Nerada to tighten up the box packaging either. I'd rather pay extra for Bushells' shrinkflation tea as it least it has a paper liner.

Nerada English Breakfast used to be my favourite tea. I've bought their tea bags for years. ` I purchased a packet of their loose leaf EB tea last week and am soooo disappointed. It should NOT be marketed as 'loose leaf tea'. It's almost a powder! And unfortunately it's fairly tasteless. Please Nerada, either give us genuine loose leaf EB tea or change your packaging or stop selling it. Show details

Three times in the last two months I have picked up the packet from the shelf and the boxes were not sealed properly. Tea all over the floor .... one made it to the checkout but opened with tea all over the register counter......... less tea for same price since packaging has changed........ tea tastes bitter also........ They seem to have solved the problem with the glue on the packets........ still that bitter after taste though Show details

Great Fresh Aussie Quality Tea – Great tasting fresh tea. I always buy Nerada loose leaf because 1. It’s Australian made. So there is a certain level of trust in quality and hygenic processes in manufacture. I don’t trust regulations and governance in many low cost countries. It’s low cost for a reason. 2. It has to be a much fresher produce than bigger brands. Imported tea can… Read more

be up to years old from harvest to you cup. 3 The downside is its not leaf tea. Not whole leaves. Looks like its the cut leaves in bags, just packed in a box and labelled loose leaf.

BTW, I make my tea India way - i.e boiled in a pot. With milk.

Mouldy – I don't have a favourite loose leaf tea so I rotate around the various brands. Neruda tastes okay but when I opened a new box today it was full of grey mould. Use by date is still 18 months away and we haven't experienced high humidity since last autumn. I don't use the box pourer but open the bottom of box so mould is very obvious. If pouring, you would not see the mould. So watch out! Show details

Good, strong tea without bitterness – And for around $3 a packet, I prefer it to anything T2 sells for far more. Suggest making it in a teapot with a fine mesh strainer- the grains are very small, but if you filter it right you get a good strong tea that brews quicker than big leaves. Show details

Yucky – I don't know if it is the actual leaf or the processing that produces this poor quality tea. This is a pity as I always try to buy Australian produçts. Show details

Better flavour than Dilma – Less dust, too. I have a T2 pint teacup and saucer with which i use an infuser, being averse to the plastic incorporated into the fabric of teabags. So far so good. Next, I'll test Lipton and adjust rating here if needed.  Show details

A sweet black tea that always satisfies – I began tea drinking with my mum when in my 20s. She always had a large teapot stewing on the kitchen bench and her favourite tea was Bushells. Later on I tried Robur, Liptons and some Oolong. All seemed quite bitter. After living in Japan for half a year and drinking freshly processed Green Tea in local stores I began to savour the taste and… Read more

effervesence of freshly grown and harvested tea. I tried Green Tea in Australia but it didn't compare to the frothy brew I had in Gifu. Then I noticed the wonderful Green and Gold boxes of Nerada Leaf Tea and would take boxes with me to japan when I visited there. They were comparable in flavour, and in the zing they imparted. I have used Nerada Leaf Tea ever since. At one time the local Woolies removed Nerada Leaf Tea from the shelf to make way for more exotic infusions from Nerada and others. I had harsh words with the Store Manager reminding her that not only was Nerada grown in Australia but that many older people like me would be deprived of a fresh locally grown tea, to brew in the teapot, through their actions and I would need to shop elsewhere as a result of their oversight. I am pleased to say my favourite Green and Gold box is still on the shelves brightening the day. Although I have been distressed by the change of packaging to some lifeless dark Green and White boxes fit maybe for the Crematorium but not for a groovy kitchen shelf.

Nerada loose-leaf green tea 250g refill: made from imported ingredients – Just received my 1 kg of loose-leaf green tea, four packs of 250g satchel. I should have googled its reviews before I bought it. These are not tea leaves that I have expected. It's similar to the tea powder inside normal tea bags, only in loose form. And it tastes just like tea-bags. And I noticed that the label said they were made from imported… Read more

ingredients ( without indicating where they were from), but the picture of the product on their website clearly said " Australian Estate Grown". Very dissappointed.

Nerada Tea - LOOSE-LEAF GREEN TEA 250g - an online only exclusive – Given the current COVID situation, I wanted to support a local business and tried for several days to find a local manufacturer that has loose leaf green tea, I came across this product and although no pictures were available, I thought I would give it a try. Well it took in excess of 5 weeks for my order to be delivered, due to a glitch on their… Read more

end, but when I finally received my order, opened the package and felt the outside of the pouch of loose leaf tea, I could tell that something just wasn't right. I opened the package and I was instantly disappointed, but looks can be deceiving, so I tried to brew some in my tea ball, that was a mistake, no actual tea remained in the ball as it was too fine and it went straight through the mesh. There was a fine layer of dust now floating on the top of the cup that I couldn’t even scoop away. Next I tried my tea bottle, perhaps that might work, nope same thing happened, floating bits were everywhere, I couldn’t even get 1 sip in without choking on the small granules. The tea pot was also impossible, even after letting the contents settle, you just can’t get rid of all the fine dust.

Final stop, I went and purchased a coffee press, this was the only thing that I could do to possibly drink this, without binning it. Ultimately the taste wasn’t the greatest and it cost me $50 just to purchase the coffee press for this tea alone.

I don’t think I will repurchase this item again, a shame really, I had hoped I could find something local of good quality.

This is not leaf tea – I was very disappointed that the Nerada Leaf Tea I bought is actually small grains of tea, not tea leaves. Looks more like instant coffee. Such a shame as I bought it because I want to support Australian made products from Australian owned companies. I also noticed that Nerada hasn't even bothered to respond to any of the previous comments so they obviously don't give a damn. Show details

Lovely tea – I have been drinking Nerada tea, both in bags and loose leaf for over seven years. It is flavoursome and the leaves are a good size (with the exception of the last few dregs at the bottom of the packet). I always recommend this tea to my clients for the teas taste, being wholly Australian produced, and Nerada's ethical stance (organic/no pesticide).

Disappointed – I have been a tea drinker for 20 years. My preference is for leaf tea. Recently I decided to try some Australian tea again as I like to support local products where I can. I found the Nerada loose leaf tea to be practically aroma-less when I opened the packet and seriously lacking in flavour when brewed. Unfortunately, I won't be buying this again.

Very Poor – I agree with past poor reviews of this product. It looks like dust and you cannot strain it. I too decided to stop using tea bags because of the use of plastic. I also want to support Australian companies but this is not a good product. I will be taking it back to woolworths

Disappointing as a leaf tea – We've enjoyed Nerada tea bags for years, but decided to get back to leaf tea, as I've read there is a plastic component in tea bags. The taste is fine, but I'm so disappointed by the texture - it looks little pellets of clumped powder more than "leaf". Even when brewed in a teapot with a fine mesh infuser, and strained into the cup, there's a… Read more

A simple honest brew – We've been drinking this on and off for close to 20 years and find it's a good everyday tea although a little on the bland side depending on what appears to be seasonal blending by Nerada. It's a delicious tea blended with some Russian Caravan. Have yet to try adding some Orange Pekoe so it tastes something like Twinings Australian afternoon tea.

Too dusty but taste is sound & if you dislike teabags – As mentioned here this leaf tea is too dusty. For some reason Nerada choose to grind the leaves very fine & the result is a lot of dust. BUT, despite this the taste is sound & you have the option of modifying by adding other favourite leaf teas to create a personal blend. In our case we add about 25% Earl Grey leaf tea & most of our friends… Read more

comment favourably which confirms our view.

You just can't do this with teabags.

Without blending it's still better than many teabag brands & you can still easily modify the strength depending on cup/mug size.

It is too dusty

Never buy Nerada Leaf tea – The tea tastes ok as you can add as much as you like but the tea leaf is not just cut it is ground up into minute particles and those particles float for some time. The tea has a noticible grittiness when you drink it and if you do manage to finish the cup or pot you will find a nasty looking black, muddy looking sediment in the bottom. It's a shame really as the tea bags provide a reasonable drop of tea. The size of the cut tea leaf

One of the worst tea's you would ever buy – I have been drinking tea for like 20 years now. This is one of the worst ones I have ever tasted. It is very weak and just doesn't have any flavour. I even tried adding two bags for each cup but it doesn't do the trick. Not my kind of tea for sure. Inexpensive, Rich Colour No flavour, No taste, Weak Strength

Very surprised with this comment. I found this tea much nicer than Twinnings. I drink it everyday. It has good flavour and strength, I love it
