Simple and easy to set up – Set up is a breeze. Easy to manage and keep tabs on connected devices. Wireless range isn't the best, however the speeds are great and minimal interference with wireless connections. Only recommendation will be to install a surge protector as my first one had the LAN ports fail after lightning storm.. Show details
Best one I ever had – Wanted to give 5 stars but as I haven't had so many other modem before, I gave 4 stars. But definitely so much better than other Netgear modems I had before. Stable, fast, wide range. Nothing to complain about. And I've had quite a few different modems at my office and this one is absolutely the better one any of I used. Solid and good modem. It's been 3 years and still does the best job, although my previous one died within a year. Show details
Nice little modem router – am happy with the performance since i bought this last year. i have downloaded the Netgear Genie app on my phone which you can play around with most of the settings which are available on web interface. Access control is the nice feature which you have control of the devices connected. Show details

decent speed, drops off – I have this modem router for almost 4 years now (probably time for an upgrade) and I love the program that lets me easily change the password from my phone or computer (great for blackmailing stubborn children!) but it drops off randomly and it is very frustrating to have to keep turning it off and on when it happens. Better than D-link – i have a 3 bedroom house and the internet was ADSL2 (fastest option available in my area) provider. I initially bought a d-link and it was the worst choice ever. could not even cover my bedroom. This modem is much better, internet speed increased and coverage extended to my bedroom ok. one little thing, not stable connection, the speed fluctuates during the day and not always fast. :( Show details
Worst products ever – Im on my 3rd netgear modem and none worked as specified.. All hard to setup ..hours to weeks.. None stay working for long.. Called tech support australia and explained my problem and was asked for the model which i gave as d6300 and next thing they hang up .. 3 times in a row.. Will never buy netgear again ... Bought a similiar price linksys and setup in minutes been working perfectly ever since Show details

It's easy to use, but out of date – I brought this router in 2012 because I needed a quality wireless connection. For its time it was a mid/high range modem/router that wasn't cheap. It has been serving me well since then and I don't see any real reason to upgrade to a newer model. Netgear last updated the firmware in June last year, so it's still relatively secure. Sure, I could… Read more
buy a newer model with better wireless for lower latency for gaming, or a faster wireless connection to stream 4K, but at this point it still works and the wireless is good enough for 1080p and Xbox Live. Would recommend if you can get it cheap.
Quality product at a reasonable price! – Good performer. Fast, steady, minimal dropouts. Easy to setup, quality aesthetics, can be found on sale occasionally at Officeworks, has 2.4G and 5G bands so if there is too much traffic on one, can connect to the other one. Range reaches up to ~30m at home for us so it's pretty damn good. Show details
Best home router – Supports both 2.4G & 5G WiFi which means no worries whether devices are old or new. Easy to set up and the interface is very simple and easy to navigate. More importantly, the security features are highly functional, and other features such as Parental Control and QoS work very well. This router has been the best and very recommended. Show details
So easy to set up and manage! – I love this modem. After our original modem that was provided to us by our internet provider broke we went out and bought this one. I set it up myself with such ease. I love that we can manage the modem via our phones using the app technology. You can reboot the modem, check what devices are using the network, access parental controls and even… Read more
manage your password settings all through your phone! The modem is also very pleasing to the eye.
My husband and I are very happy with this purchase.
Perfect for streaming videos – From the looks of it, the router looks amazing. It has a minimal and stealthy vibe to it. The router has an all-black construction and comes without detachable antennas that its beauty. Great for streaming videos. The sleek design looks quite attractive and you can comfortably place it anywhere. It supports the ADSL connections too, so one product… Read more
for all your needs.
Also being the dual band you can have two separate network groups for surfing or connecting the devices, connect the external hard drive and make it your own cloud storage & access the same from anywhere . Router Could be manged and configured via netgear remote software.
Overall a great product but bit pricey compared to its features.
its great – My Netgear router/modem is a really good product it gives great range for all my home WiFi devices and also allows extra ethernet ports so to have multiple devices plugged in at once. Only downfall as its starting to get on with age im finding i need to reset the device more often. Show details
Set and forget – Works well the wifi to other AC devices is fast. Signal strength could be stronger as it won't reach all rooms in my house... 20m and it drops off. I am currently only using it as a router as I have FTTP. Oh and the no areal design looks nice. Show details

OK – Though there are many negative review for this modem router, I do found it OK. at least it does its job. I am satisfied with its signal. It did took some time to set up initially. But after that, it was working fine. Overall, I am happy with my purchase. Show details
A very good all round ADSL modem/router – The D6300 has proven to be a robust and versatile machine easy to setup and consistently very good at handling a range of devices both wired and wireless. Netgear is a strong innovative company when it comes to home network solutions. The other options from Netgear include Ready Nas Duo and power point extenders which I have both used without… Read more
any problems and after sales service is no problem as well. All in all I would recommend Netgear products to anyone looking for a home network modem/router.
Very decent router – Wireless is good quality, the user interface makes it extremely easy to set up. The black slate look also makes it rather good looking to have sitting in your living room and isn't so garish to look at. It's also pretty forward compatible by being ADSL2+ and NBN compatible. Compatible with 2.4ghz and 5ghz wireless bands as well. Show details
Best Modem – This wifi modem covers a wide area for people who have a big house. It also has dual adaptors for people with lots of devices. I downloaded the netgear app and it comes with many features, from managing your data usage checking which devices are connecting. The modem has given me great internet speeds. Show details
Result of transfer to D6300 from supplied unit – The supplied router modem from Telstra is from the dark ages. They have in place situations that stop you doing modern procedures. I wanted to use a STATIC IP ADDRESS and there's would not work even after long hours on the phone to support. I got a D6300 and it worked from day 1. The only problem is the service provider often try and make changes… Read more
to the unit. I have to do a full reset of my network when they do it. It upsets many aspects including wifi. A TOTAL reset appears the only solution. They do not tell you when they do changes. They are a big headache. Ones who have problems a total reset could be the solution.
Affordable solution to home networking – I purchased this product about 2 years ago and have not looked back. We have a 3 bedroom steel framed house large loungeroom and the modem/router is at the opposite end of the house. The dual band 2.4 and 5 KHZ reaches to every corner with ease. You can pick up one at MSY now for $147. New, they were $300. Show details
Cheap modem for backup - average quality but cheap router modem AC1600 – if you use the netgear genuie, you actually will have access to a lot of advance function found on more expensive model. the parental control works well . the unit have average adsl sync speed, lower compare to billion but I get this unit for $150 about 2 years ago so can not complain. support was quick for replacement (on the phone), did not… Read more
select the quick next business day for $40, slow option arrived about 6 days via star track. not too bad.
Appalling – The modem frequently drops out, netgear only allow 90 days of phone service. So when the piece of junk stops working they make you pay to contact them. Worst customer service I have ever experienced! Netgear tell you to go to their internet service page which is really helpful when you can't connect to the internet!! They are nothing but a money making scam! Show details
Very poor signal – I bought it few months ago. Its easy to setup. But I am not happy with it at all. The modem always lose signal. I do get very poor signal from next room where I setuped the modem in my lounge. Always needs to restart for get the internet connection. Getting my refund this week from Officeworks. Show details

Netgear D6300 - Keeps dropping internet – I bought this modem three months ago as a replacement to my old modem. I chose it because I was happy with my old Netgear modem that was provided by my service provider but was very slow. Since I got the D6300 I would get random dropouts but didn't concern me to much as I'm not a high Internet user plus I just put it down to my service provider.… Read more
However, this changed recently when I was off work medically and remoting into work from home. I soon discovered that the random dropouts were quite regular. Still thinking it was the service provider they ran test and sent a technician out twice to look at the telephone exchange and the wiring to the house. After all that I read internet forums about Netgear and internet dropouts (Common), so I tried to contact customer service. I did speak to a phone customer support person but didn't want to help because apparently the serial number suggested that it was made in 2014 even though I bought it new only three months ago, March 2016.
I went out and bought a new TP Link modem much cheaper (less features) but have had no issues.
Therefore, my recommendation is stay away from Netgear unless you're looking for trouble.
So far so good – Good range good quality. Once my wifi just stopped working but I think that was my own fault. Seriously quick 5g speeds. I have more than 12 devices running at once all being used an it is capable of handling that. Only thing I don't like is the fact it can't be mounted on the wall or laid down.
Do not buy this piece of crap – I have had Netgear D6300 for two years now and absolutely nothing but problems. It keeps re-setting to factory settings. Why on hell would it do that, I am now suspecting it could be a security problem, I have changed the factory settings to add more security and after about a week it goes right back. They, Netgear say just leave the login and… Read more
passwords as the factory setting but that defeats the reason why I change them for added security. Sorry but just don't waste your money & your mental energy trying to figure this one out.
Nice fast modem/router – Took me a while to work out how to stop the drop outs 1. Log into the modem (open browser to do so) 2. Press on advanced 3. Press on Setup then select WAN setup 4. Tick disable port scan and DoS protection 5. Untick Disable IGMP Proxing 6. Tick Disable SIP ALG But once done it worked perfectly.
Don't Waste Your Time With It – Purchased the d6300 in Dec. 2014 as I am a gamer and thought it be great but I've had nothing but problems with it. I am on my 3rd warranty replacement, this one I've only had for a week and can't even get it to install through the genie wizard. I contact netgear support and they try to slug me more money as my customer support period expired… Read more
(they even managed to quote the exact number of days as if it was significant). We go over the same spiel of turn it off/on, reset, etc. only to tell me I needed another replacement. I again explained this was a warranty replacement I was trying to install and they said it too seemed to be faulty. I am so over Netgear and would not recommend to anyone, not worth the money or the hassle.
Would have to be the worst Router ever – I have had this Router / Modem for about 2 years. From week 1 the modem would drop the Internet. I went back to the retailer and I was told I should let it go a week. Of course it dropped out again, I tried to return it but was told it was past the 7 day return period, anyway that's the last time I bought from that tech store. Still to this day… Read more
we have to restart the modem every week. Netgear Support explained to me it must be my phone line, to that I say impossible, I had a Belkin modem that didn't need a restart for 3 years straight. To prove it I connected the Belkin modem again, perfect running for nearly 6 months straight, Netgear's response was to call me a liar. Anyway, in summary, DO NOT touch this modem.
Does the Job for an AC router – I owned this router from 2012-2014, and I must admit it worked well and did the job that it was meant to do. Though the issue of this router is that it overheated, having the DSL modem in the router made it heat during heavy use and because of this webpages, emails and others wouldn't load in a correct format, and at times only displaying the html… Read more
content and nothing else (though this would not happen very often), and that is the reason why I didn't give this a full 5 stars.
This is one to consider for someone wanting a reliable router and wouldn't heavily use it with gaming or streaming often. the router is at a satisfactory price with all the modern bells and whistles.
Terrible! Stay away! – The unit broke down in a month! Netgear support makes it extremely difficult for you to return the product. They will repeatedly ask you to try something totally irrelevant and time-waster until you give up on return. It took me four days and A LOT OF angry letters to get them to agree to send me a replacement. And it is only the beginning of a long torturous humiliating process.
Excellent Router – I am with TPG for my internet (wireless 4 Laptops and hard wire 2 PC's) and 4 smartphones and a networked printer. We are allowed a max of 5 devices to be on line at any one time. As long as we remain within these parameters we have never had a problem in over 12 months.
Avoid! – Not designed for high density living - password is broadcast with the push of a button, so shared households, neighbours and kids frequently hack. No voip option, so consider these factors carefully before you part with your cash, or even purchase secondhand. Could be an ideal solution for a childless farmer on a rural property. Show details
Sleek Modem Router – Works as expected and reliable overall. The tiny lit icons (front) are barely to see and pretty useless in a daylight room. The power button is very inconveniently placed at the back. Boot up time of this modem is extremely slow. Other than that a fine product.
Keeps dropping out and needing reboot – My last modem router lasted about 5 years so when I bought a new one I thought "Spend a bit more and it will be worth it over the life of the router." What a silly thought. It drops the connection at least once a day and needs rebooting. Have reinstalled the lastest firmware a number of times. WiFi connection is only good for about 10 metres… Read more
in the open or 5 metres across walls. An unfortunate waste of money. will be buying another device, but not a Netgear.
Absolute rubbish!! – Do not buy this piece of junk. Another blogger on this forum said it "became as useless as a block of cheese". I disagree - it's worse. At least you can eat cheese. If i could select no stars as the rating, i would. I bought this piece of junk in 2014 and have had continual drop-out issues. I keep receiving messages advising that my email… Read more
accounts are unable to connect to their respective mail server, that the server doesn't recognise the account login credentials. I have a number of different email accounts connecting to different servers - i get the same message for all of them. So i changed email clients. Guess what? Same connectivity errors are being displayed.
So i changed routers to a spare thomson tg585 i have lying around. Hey presto, no errors displayed. Incredible. Good on you thomson.
And don't bother attempting to phone netgear support (should i say "non" support) on their very reliable phone-routing system. I phoned them 4 times. There's an option to select support for routers, but you get put through to their readynas support (if you're lucky). If i wanted readynas support, i would have selected that option. Anyway, if you're unlucky, the phone line drops-out each time (this happened to me each time in 4 attempts - unlucky, i guess).
In reality, i only have myself to blame. Prior to owning this piece of crap, i had a netgear dgn3500 and after about 18 months, started having problems with it. When i researched the reviews for the d6300 as a replacement, it was all the rage. Barely a sniff of negativity. I thought "this time netgear have got their act together". How wrong can someone be? Now i'm paying for it - again.
Besides the email connectivity issue, i've also had wifi connectivity issues. I keep having to power-cycle the router in order for my wdtv media player to receive data. Similar story with other wireless devices i have attached.
Definition of insanity:- repeating the same behaviour over and over and expecting a different outcome each time.
I like to give things a good fair go, but i've reached my limit with netgear and have learned my lesson. I will never purchase anything netgear again (i'm sure they care).
