OK with some design issues – This is about my third Netgear modem, and while they have similar issues, I bought this one cheap thinking it would be better value. A big selling point for me was the Wi-Fi off button and the general Wi-Fi bandwidth/speed. However the design of the thing is a huge letdown. The Wi-Fi is not as fas as I would have hoped and the button takes about… Read more
10 second to respond which kind of kills the convenience. Not only that, but its right next to the WPS button and if you slip, you're likely to (as I did) accidentally reset the router - its that easy to stuff the thing. The power switch is also poorly placed, get ready to do some real fumbling in the dark. Also a huge hassle is the stand/base, which is glued on and effectively obscures the status lights. The Netgear Genie web app interface is confusing and I prefer the old one. Overall fail, but it does the job ok. It has a Wi-Fi off button, Easy to set up Major design flaws, Status lights are obscured, Poorly placed buttons, Wi-Fi off button is clunky and slow to respond, Wi-Fi performance overrated, Constant Internet drop-outs, Netgear Genie interface is poorly designed
Faultless no complaints here – I have been using an old Telstra supplied Thompson adsl modem for many years attached to a wireless Netgear G router WGR614v9, this combination has worked fine for me for many years - it was time for an upgrade so I purchased the Netgear 3700 all in one modem router - it's been faultless, it has worked without issue and has a good wifi signal… Read more · 1
covering our entire 5 bedroom home, we have multiple ipads, iphone and wireless pc all accessing broadband and it hasn't missed a beat, it has only once dropped out (no connection) briefly and that incident could of been caused by other factors not related to the modem router. All in all I am very satisfied with the Netgear DGND3700, I don't understand why many reviewers are having issues? beats me... the one I have is great and works as advertised, I have noticed my adsl connection to be far more stable and the WiFi is improved in regards to speed and coverage at home. easy to set up, reliable adsl connection, faster WiFi so far nothing that I can honestly mention? maybe more ethernet ports would be good! it has the standard 4.
One of the best modem/routers on the market! – I have had the n600 for about a week now and it is amazing. Everything just.. works! There is no hassle with setting up, instructions were clear and simple. You essentially get 2 networks for the price of one! I have all my older gear connected on the 2.4Ghz networks and all my latest (ipad and laptop) running on the 5ghz network. It makes for an… Read more · 1
easy experience having everything connected to the network and internet, I have attached a harddrive to the n600 with all my music and videos and it is able to be shared across all my devices (ps3, computers, ipad, and tv).
I think that if you have multiple network/internet devices in your home and want something that will keep up with technology for the next couple of years your better off spending a little more on the n600 than wasting your money constantly upgrading and replacing. Everything works fast and reliably, all devices inter-connected to network and internet. Expensive, but worth the money

Reliable! – Had it for 7 months now. Easy to install and use. So far, it is working really well. No problem with the connection even after being knocked over twice and off the bench by little nephew and still working well. Giving good signal all around our 2 storey town house. Show details
Great for Two-storey apartments/houses – Moving into a two-storey apartments came with a few flaws, especially when it came to the wifi. As the Wifi was located upstairs (only place we could hook it up) our old modem wouldn't reach the bottom two bedrooms. Once that died we looked at getting a new one and were told of how great this model is. We were lucky to get it at a great price in… Read more
JBHIFI. Hooking it up was so easy and was all ready to go within minutes! It reaches the downstairs area perfectly (may drop one bar) but does the job well. Only downfall of it is when we have over 6 devices connected and using the internet, it will sometimes drop out.
Reliable, delivers the goods – Very good device. Excellent user interface with all the information you need regarding connectivity and line speeds. Good instructions come with device. Never had any trouble with it. Easy to install. Good techical support support on the only occasiion that i needed it for a technical issue (not a fault). Would recommend it to all users Show details

Was great while it worked, unfortunately died – Initially, this was a greater device, which I was happy with gaming too. Reliable, easy to set up and modify settings. Good signal reception too. Unfortunately it suddenly stopped working after 2 years, which I thought was a little early, and was out of warranty by then. Upgraded to a TP Link, which was I was very happy with. Show details
Great modem for a decent price – I have had this modem for over a year and really cannot complain. It doesn't have the best range but it was cheap and I do not regret purchasing. As an upside however; it only very rarely stops working. In the year I've had it, I have only needed to reset it maybe 5 times. Show details
2 years of trouble – Drops all lights like a reset for no reason, 2.4g wifi has a range of 3 metres then greatly decreases even in a straight line with no obstacles. Sometimes the Ipad can't get a connection from 2 metres away. Heap of junk which I regret buying in 2014. Jeff

Rock solid, can't fault it – This does everything you want from an ADSL WiFi modem. I have had mine for a few years and it never missed a beat. It's very easy to administer via the wifi network and has a pretty strong signal anywhere in the house. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a solid wifi modem. Show details
Solid – Easy to install, solid, functional enough for all but the most demanding users. This covers every room in the house and i can even share the guest network to the neighbours (lol). With competitive price and good range. Install, set it up, and you'll never have to think about it again. Show details
Great WiFi modem – Good and stable. WiFi range excellent. Never had an issue so far since installation 8 months ago. Easy set up and clear manual guide. You could download firmware update on the official web site. One push set up worked perfectly. 5GHz range got 100Mps speed on testing. Highly recommend. Stable connection and good wifi range – Three years on and still going strong. No complaint for general web surfing. Hardly ever need a reboot. Con: Cannot get it to work properly for video streaming with an attached USB HDD, result video is choppy & audio out of sync. FTP sharing function also not reliable even with the latest firmware update. Show details
Great product & very reliable – Overall it is a great wireless modern. My house is double storage and it covers all areas without any black spot. Very reliable as well. It's running without any issue for months and you don't need to reboot it or anything. Great file sharing feature which is very handy when you got multiple laptops, tablets etc. Show details
Great choice! – I've never had an issue with it besides the time when I bricked the router during a software update. After googling for solutions, there was a utility that allowed me to reset the firmware externally which fixed the brick. Ever since then, no issues. The included UI for the default gateway is pretty nice which I like. Show details
good choice for a price – Excellent performance results upon operation with PPTP, Used traffic meter, IPv6 support, Ability to select USB devices which are to be granted access to the device, Support of two wireless frequency ranges, Presence of a USB 2.0 port. It has two uplinks, one for ADSL and another one - general CAT5-6 cable so it can be used for NBN connection as well. Show details
Buy netgear if you're not a parent – Buy a netgear router/modem as it does not drop out. Here comes the but... Not if you are a parent and you want to control access to multiple devices based on time schedule. I have teenagers who want to stay online all night. You cannot set time limits for multiple devices on different days. You can lock out wifi devices completely but not if they… Read more
are on LAN. Parental control is very limited and a pain to set up via an open dns. There is only two solutions 1. Lock up the modem before you go to bed or 2. Buy another brand. There is an easy solution update the firmware when NG manage to write a simple code to schedule devices nased on MAC address. All other brands have this capability but NG. I suggest don't hold out for this solution. I should have done more research. Now have to buy new modem to regain control.
Router good but bad warranty customer support. Under warranty why should the consumer pay for warran – After Telstra reestablished my line service fault my internet became unconnected. My Internet Provider suggested to ring Netgear customer support and after dialling Aust. warranty repairs/checks before the consumers can even get support, e.g. for a non user fault, but a warranty fault.
If I had hair I would pull it out! – Constant dropouts, no useful help and very expensive for what you get. I thought it might be me but after reading other contributions I am of to the store for an alternative.
Waste of Money – If you're looking to take advantage of the fantastic speeds offered by 5G, DON'T bother with this router unless you live in a tent. One brick wall in the way, and the 5G is useless. The lack of decent management software is also a major PITA. Also requires frequent rebooting, which is archaically slow. 5g is useless, software is useless

No problems – Not sure what everyones problem with this device is I have had no problemw bought a D Link and took it back after 5 hours of use as was terrible. Took 5 minutes to set this modem up and have had no problems at all. No drop outs great speed and connected to multiple devices. Easy setup Nothing so far
Appalling product – This product simply does not do what it says on the box. Weak signal, constant dropouts and useless as a media server, which it claims it will do. I simply cannot advise strongly enough to keep away from this product. Will never purchase a netgear product again. I am not new to setting up modems and routers, have done it more than ten times… Read more
for myself and family and friends. This is a product failure.
It dropped out while writing this relatively short review. I am five meters from the thing. Absolutely nothing Simply does not do what it advertises it will
Very dissapointed – Had nothing but problems since we bought it, WI-FI drops out, very slow wi-fi speed when talking to Apple TV, which is in another room, spend loads of time re-starting, after speaking to the support, it works OK for a few hours and then the same problems occur, this has been onogin for about 3 months now Genie software WIFI power at 15 meters
Solved Wii online gaming problems on Telstra service – My children bought this modem after months and months of frustration with their Wii and DS online games dropping out despite a new top-of-the-line Telstra modem and Bigpond ADSL2 service. Telstra was no help, advising us to buy a Telstra wifi booster (set that up, but it didn't help) then wanting us to pay for premium service starting from $99. My… Read more · 1
kids set up the N600 right out of the box and - voila! - all the problems we were experiencing cleared up instantly. Since July, we've been running 4 laptops, iPhones, iPods, Wii, DS, wireless printer etc etc without missing a beat. Wish we bought this earlier. Easy to set up. Reliable.
Netgear router – I got netgear router and it is not compatable with Optus wireless usb and contact netgear and was given a list of compatable usb wireless internet to use than contact optus to find out the use list of numbers had not been use for over 2 to 3 years dont use this product with optus internet. Netgear N600 Rocks – I don't know what these people are talking about, I have this unit running three computers plus our TV/gaming unit with absolutely no problems. Our three mobiles and various iPod/iPads all connect seemlessly and I am using Bigpond. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this modem to anybody. It fullfills my families internet and… Read more
gaming needs. The only nit pick I would say is the quality of the construction. You could not say that this is a solid casing. Having said that it has not been an actual issue.
Useless – Do not bother had to take the first one back as very weak signal in another room. Collected another one and had same problem. Netgear then told me that serial number was from a faulty batch. I got my money back and now using Belkin N300 with old Netcom modem. Great.
A waste of time and money – Perpetual dropouts many times a day. Hence the waste of time comment. Seems to overheat even when performing low bandwidth tasks on one single machine if the room temp is 20 degrees C or above. There must be other brands that provide better performance not to mention value for money. Shiny black outer case looks great but probably contributes to… Read more
overheating problems! Just aboutt everything except the software setup which was straight forward and flexible.
Very Disappointing – I purchased an N600 as an upgrade for my old Netgear DG834N , which is good but struggles in the garage. What a disappointment. With a service of 4Mbps from Optus I could not watch ABC's iView 10 meters away. I analysed the strength of the signal and found it was weaker than my neighbours network signal. I reverted to the old DG834N and while the… Read more
signal was not much stronger it was solid and did not drop out like the N600. I was able to stream the ABC without a problem with the old router. I sent back my new N600 thinking it was faulty. A brand new replacement arrived within three days, no questions asked. Unfortunately it was just as bad, maybe worse because the dropouts were more frequent. I tried different channels, turned off anything that might interfere but the old unit was always far better. In fact the N600 is unusable in a 20 square 2 story house, a pretty average size suburban home. In fact the units I got will not work in a two bedroom flat. I got great service from the technical support team but there was nothing they could do. The unit was not faulty it was just not as good as the old unit. If you want to stream TV or movies from more than 6 meters away do not buy a N600. I wish I could advise you on what will work but I have not got that far yet as I only use Netgear products. It's a problem. After Sales service Poor wifi performance
Don't go near if u r with Bigpond – Whilst this gets rave reviews on computer sites, it is no good with BigPond and constant stability issues. It was easy to set up initially which was great, but after 12 months and four techs the modem is our problem with slow speeds, constant drop outs and patchy coverage - maybe ok with other ISP. Set up was easy Constant drop outs, unstable, have to reset twice daily minimum. Didnt live up to the hype
very good...WHEN working – during the time it works excellent. overheats all the time constantly have to switch off and reset waste of money would never recomend to anyone I liked came with great reviews obviously paid for its a wonder it has stayed active long enough for me to write this once burned never again when working great constant overheating
Terrible – I am now on my third Netgear DGND adsl 2+ N600 modem/wireless router. Two version ones failed. Continuous problems holding ISP authentication, Poor wireless range, Continuous dropouts requiring rebooting manually. Etc, Etc. Netgear will not refund or credit you for their failures. Plenty of offers of phone assistance etc, if you can afford to sit listening to "You will be connected to the next available technician" for ever and a day.
I have given up on Netgear and am in the market now for something that works. Don't waste your money like I did.
Same problem. Drops speed dramatically on Bigpond, or drops out altogether. Regularly. (Like… Read more (+1 reply)
Connectivity OK but software lets you down – Bought this router a year ago to replace an 8 year old Linksys WRT54G workhorse which I moved upstairs. The internet connections are stable and fast. management software. The UI lacks logic and you need to guess and search for settings. I'm also surprised that it actually contains *less* features than my old Linksys had. On firmware .17 I have:
- SSID is not hidden, but "hidden" broadcasts 'Other network'.
- MAC address filter list supposedly can exist without being enforced. Well, it's enforced even when the 'Turn Access Control On' is unticked. Besides, not all devices get through even when listed.
- I would need to set up groups with different permissions, e.g. "daytime only", "evening allowed", and 24/7 devices. Linksys had this, Netgear only one blanket rule for all devices.
- Parental control missing.
- 'Attached devices' list never up to date.
Overall I don't trust the software, and it has obvious bugs which hinder the proper management of your wireless environment. Internet connections are OK Software faulty and illogical, wifi can be flaky
