SSL Certificate Error: new ransomeware! – Multiple issues with its software and hardware, unreliable, untrustable. The support is a total scam. Their SSL signature is expired. This is not a harware problem or any issues from my end. This is an issue with their SSL registration system. All computers on my network show a signature problem with the modem's signature being expired. Netgear… Read more
doesn't even give you their support email if you don't pay them a ransome (so called "extended support"). This has been mentioned in their community with no answer. This was the last time I trusted Netgear. Look at the title of this page: AC2300 (R7000P) is discoutinued, so they won't even read this. When are we, the consumers, going to punish these people by not buying their products?
Absolute Rubbish piece of networking hardware – I struggled with this router for two years before I finally gave it the boot. I doubt I'll ever purchase any Netgear hardware again. It has a dated and buggy firmware interface and the app is very limited. Many features such as QoS, MU-MIMO and Smart Wifi continually failed and I ended up having to disable them. The parental controls feature,… Read more
"Disney Circle", was also discontinued soon after it was released and never really that good. The BitDefender security features were nice and more home routers should have this. But not worth all the other troubles I had with this complete piece of crap.
Do not buy NETGEAR, worst service ever – I will not buy another Netgear product after my experience. I purchased Netgear R7000P about 18 months ago for $249.00 and it has been working fine until i lost internet connection. I’ve contacted my internet provided and they advised me that in their end it appears that there’s internet but the Router is not connecting with the internet. They have… Read more
connected me to NETGEAR support and the guy told me that they know the issue and it will cost AUD 130 to get a technician to contact me and fix the issue. I ask the support person to get his manager to contact me.I’ve tried to contact the support customer service again and this time they force me to buy 3m/6m/1year support at extra cost and fix the issue. I paid $69 AUD thinking to get it fix ASAP. I got connected to the technical team and I was guided to reset the router and to go through the settings. This time the technician advised me that the issue is the internet not the router. I called the provider and I was advised to use the router that was given to me when my internet provider. The provider’s router is working fine but not enough signal coverage. Netgear has only one motive: to sell extended warranty (beyond 90 days) and dupe customers. They purposefully create issues and when customers call for help, This is their game plan and any amount of escalations makes no difference. Sincere advise: avoid buying their products and tech support.

Has a mind of its own! – I purchased this as a replacement to my D-Link modem/router (which was refunded due to being faulty) hoping that it would give good coverage as advertised. Guess what.. it not only failed to give good coverage, it constantly restarted itself (thus disconnecting connection) on its own. Talking to their technical support team could be compared to… Read more
talking to a brick wall. I did my own research afterwards and discovered this is a known issue with this particular product. And yes, I even tried updating the firmware and contacted my own ISP, and the issue was not resolved. I refunded this one as well and decided to stick with my Telstra Smart Modem/Router Gen 2 which I already had with my previous internet connection. Not only am I getting good coverage, it doesn't restart by itself. I am getting 3 bar coverage even upstairs and the speeds are consistent with me being right in front of the router.
It amazes me how a more expensive product fails to even compete with other products. Netgear should be ashamed of themselves for providing limited period of technical support and lack of training to the support officers. Their default answer was "let's try a factory reset" which I had already done before they even suggested it to me.
Almost perfect – This is a great router. This is the most I have spent on a router and I am very pleased with the performance. It is very stable and rarely requires reboot. We are a high traffic household and it manages up to 15 devices (including guests) with ease. Our devices include Fetch TV, laptops, tablets, phones and printers. We are in a 2 storey… Read more
townhouse and it covers the entire house without the need for extenders. It has a great range of features. I don't use the QoS and Smart Network which seem to make performance worse for me, but that may simply my inexperience with them.
I love the security features which allow me to assign static connections to all the devices on the network and then manage access. My biggest complaint is that I can only have a single schedule operating (I confirmed with Netgear) which unfortunately all the controlled devices must have a single bedtime.
There is also an app for my Smartphone which allows me to see who is on and switch off devices or networks.
Great router for FTTP NBN - Fast wifi – All in all routers aren't particularly exciting products but they are functional. This one is a class act for a router - best one I have ever owned. I don't really have much to say except it works really well. It copes with our households internet requirements and my small business file transfers fine. I'm on 100/40 NBN. I bought this router… Read more

It's very fast. All mobile phones get fast wifi connections of over 380mbs whcih is heaps. My laptop gets consistant 300mbs wifi connection which is what it is rated to max. It copes well with several streaming UHD content users at a time.
The admin user interface is ok. It could be improved if I was being picky but rarely need to change anything so that doesn't matter much. It updates itself easily without having to separately download firmware. I'm not even sure if there are aftermarket firmware, like tomato, for this router as I haven't needed any additional features above and beyond standard.
You can set up a guest network if you don't trust your guests.
There are 2 usb ports to connect hard drives and printers to for sharing. you can turn off the flashing lights to not get disturbed at night.
You can monitor network traffic and set limits if you need to.
There lots of firewall settings to play with if required - VPN's, port forwarding, blocking ip addresses etc
It claims to have parental controls which you can set using an app on your phone but I haven't used them so can't comment if they are any good.
All in all if you need a router for FTTP internet, then this is a solid choice.

Best NBN modem at a better price – Not very often dropouts, one of the best nbn compatible modem available in market. Very good wifi connectivity with dual bandwidth. Netgear also supports free customer care calls for support Show details

Excellent router for NBN – My current NBN modem router from TPG was having some issues. My devices would lose connection or drop speed I would have to reboot the router. I bought this one from Officeworks for $200 and I am really happy with the purchase. I would make my review short with few dot points. 1.) These is a beast of router. It is huge but it works huge. 2.)… Read more
Setup was flawless through mobile app. (I thought I might have to go through lengthy process). 3.) It is dual band so you get 2.3Mhz signal as well as 5Mhz signal so if in any room if you find the speed or signals are weak you can easily connect to higher frequency. 4.) The best part of the app is you can see how many devices are connect and can pause the device from the internet. 5.) I also loved the feature of parental control/filter on the router itself as well as it also has a USB 3.0 connection to connect a cloud storage.
It works flawlessly with NBN and setup is easy. I would highly recommend.

Nighthawk - forget having multiple SSIDs – A most disappointing device for one who wanted to extend the range of a modem/router network that has multiple SSIDs from multiple APs. It does not like modems that already have wifi, and is designed to be THE WiFi network connected to the modem. The box it come in does not inform a buyer that it expects to be THE WiFi network, and expects you to… Read more
turn off the wifi from a modem/router. Set up necessitate disconnection of any devices connected to the router just so that you can see it to set up. If you have multiple Wifi APs with different SSIDs expect to shut them all down permanently. For ~$Aust199 it is a huge disappointment - especially if you can't get a refund.
The 2.4GHz frequently drops out – It is onoy about 1 month old, and I had to reboot it once every couple of days. The SSID for the 2.4GHz would just disappear from mobile phones scanning for it. The signal strength may be good, but the actual availability is very poor. I have a modem upstairs and this modem is downstairs. On several occassions, this 2.4GHz signal disappears and my… Read more
phone then connects to the upstairs modem. So, the good signal strength is not present in this product.
Unreliable wifi – I bought this router for my NBN, and was predominantly for the Disney Circle feature. This router has no ability to connect directly to the NBN (no modem built in). So I have to keep my telstra NBN modem/router. As a result I have 2 wifi networks in my house. To get the kids internet controlled by Circle, the kids have to connect to the… Read more
Nighthawk. So this Circle parental control is completely flawed by design!! It’s a bit like protecting your house from burglar by locking up the windows, but leaving the backdoor completely open. Additionally, This router keeps on breaking up. I know because if I attach to the telstra wifi/router, it’s still operational. So the NBN is still going but this router fails to broadcast.

Died after 2 years – All of a sudden no wifi and ethernet LEDs were not lighting up despite being plugged in. Multiple reboots and factory resets achieves nothing. Netgear support pages are useless. For a router that's expensive as hell I would expect it to last. Show details

Disappointed. "Router" has no modem & misleading Parental Control functionality – The Netgear Nighthawk AC2300 R7000P generally reviews well , but for me it has been a disappointing device for the following reasons: 1/ I had previously used and been a fan of Netgear products & their functionality & controls. 2/ Setup was time consuming & frustrating due to lack of an inbuilt modem. Nothing like the plug & play I expected from… Read more
reviews. I guess it's my fault for not recognising this "Router" had no modem. 3/ Parental/Access Controls are reduced & very substandard... unless you pay more! I felt very deceived.
So, unlike many modern Routers the Nighthawk has no built in modem. In many instances, depending on your connection, you will need another device for internet connection. If you have a simple modem already then setup should be pretty straight forward & Netgear's simple instructions should work for you. Otherwise it can be difficult depending on your connection type, access device, & technical knowledge. On my NBN VDSL FTTN connection I was able to set my existing Telstra Router (with inbuilt modem!) to Bridge mode & connect the Nighthawk. If you still have a landline phone connected to your router you may lose it, & the Nighthawk does not support this. I'm not sure but it may support VOIP phones.
Router settings & controls can be accessed using the Nighthawk app, or with a web browser via www.routerlogin.com (or 192.168.1.1) which offers reasonable & more advanced control... unless you're seeking decent Parental/Access Controls!
Parental/Access Control... This is so frustrating & disappointing. Netgear have reduced standard basic router control settings almost to zero in both browser routerlogin & the Nighthawk app. If you want any real control you'll need to download the Disney Circle app, create an account, share your personal information, then subscribe to their $5/month service! Otherwise you might as well just turn the router off at the wall & hide it! Definitely not recommended for households with challenging kids, ADHD, ASD, meltdowns, or parents trying to maintain sanity.
Great Router - Terrible user software – Great router for WiFi strength and multiple devices. However, has anyone at Netgear set up one at home? They would quickly discover that their App and install guide are terrible. How can such a large company produce an installation App like this? A first year IT student could do a better job.
This router keeps dropping out – This has got to be one of the most frustrating routers i have ever owned. I read reviews that its one of the best but the wifi keeps dropping out. Tried changing loads of settings on it, but it just keeps dropping out. It seems like lots of people are having the same problem with it. Frustrating. Show details
Constantly drops internet connection, even after factory reset, reconfiguration, and replacement – I had a number of issues with the initial device I bought: 1) Intermittently dropped the internet connection 2) After x minutes, it wouldn't let new devices authenticate until I rebooted 3) Blocked my computer from accessing the management interface via WiFi I called support and over the period of 3 phone calls over 3 days I tested all the… Read more
troubleshooting tips they could offer, but it still didn't fix it. After finally losing my cool and insisting they gave me a replacement, Netgear finally did a swap with me for a new model.
Unfortunately, this only fixed a few issues - the internet was still cutting out randomly for a minute or so at a time, and occasionally only for one or two devices on the network.
I updated to the newest firmware, went through all the troubleshooting steps Netgear had for me, and it still doesn't work.
Currently in the process of fighting for a refund from Netgear, but regardless of the outcome I can't see myself ever buying another of their devices ever again.
Excellent product – the netgear nighthawk really does what the package says. I've had no trouble setting it up and it was very easy with technical instructions and online help as well as help via the phone if i needed it. we are surprised by how powerful this router is and it can go through many walls and still be strong. Significant signal increase – It provides significant increase in signal strength. I get full coverage in my 3 bedroom apartment. However, the wifi seems unstable sometimes and went offline 6 times so far (in 5months). It could also because of the wifi interference with other residents or incorrect band setting. My NBN service provider could the reason as well. Show details
Excellent Reach. Solid Performance – We have a largish house and I got exceptional reach with this - absolutely blows away the old d-Link we had. I literally cannot remember the last time I had to restart, it it very solid. Recommended product! Show details
Faulty Product – Purchased a Nighthawk and after just 7 months it crashed. I spent 4 hours on the phone to them as they tried to fix it. they wanted $50 to start the process of looking at a fix. Here goes more hours on the phone. What a joke! And as this replacement box was provided directly from the manufacturer I can not take it back to the store I bought it from for warranty. Stay away from this faulty product!

For those who value features, this router is all you need – I use this router with the Advanced Tomato open source firmware. Amazingly powerful, allows us to prioritise bandwidth between things like youtube and netflix, and lower priorities of large downloads, which enables us to make the most of our slow internet connection. Great range, and fast 5GHz networking makes wireless backups to a NAS happen quickly. Very happy with this router. Hasn't missed a beat. Show details
10/10, would Recommend – This is an amazing router. It is easy to use, has great range in a big home. Can be a bit slow updating and the UI could do with a facelift. The ability to turn off the LED lights is a nifty feature. It looks awesome to boot. I would strongly recommend. Show details

No regrets! – Love it! NETGEAR Nighthawk R7000P AC2300 Wireless AC2300 Router is very fast and reliable. It's quite expensive but definitely worth it. Recently purchased it and have had no issues, whatsoever. One downside is it's larger than your standard router but other than that, it's perfect. If you're in the market for one of these bad boys, I highly recommend it. Show details
Fast and reliable – This router was bought to replace the abysmal router that was bundled with a new internet connection. The WiFi is fast and very reliable, have not had any dropouts or any other issues. The range was about double that of the bundled router. Almost all our devices are connected to it (6 phones, several laptops, couple of TV's), and it handles them all with ease. It's quite large, so make sure that there is room for it. Show details
Excellent modem – The modem is great for future proofing the house. We live on a two level townhouse and the device has great speed over wireless. I have added a NAS to it (synology 418play) to back up files. Sweet at choosing 5ghz band and has a feature to turn off the flashing LEDs which are very distracting Show details
Super fast with no slow downs – Good set of features but we use it in a pretty vanilla sort of way to manage our wireless network and have it hooked up to our NBN. We have over 16 devices connected at any time and i've never had any network issues between them. We've had ISP issues but this router has been flawless. The only downside I have about it is it's size, its not exactly inconspicuous but this is not huge deal. Show details
Beast of a modem – I bought this modem when my last one bit the bullet, this is a beast of a modem. connectivity to the LAN is unwavering and fast, signal strength strong. Maybe too strong - when I leave for work; I walk out of my unit, walk down two flights of stairs then walk about 30 meters to the road where I still get 2 bars of my wifi. Show details
Excellent performer once set up, mediocre web interface – I have had this router for about 2-3 years now. It is excellent as a router for both wired ethernet connections and wireless connections. I would not recommend trying to plug a USB hard drive into it, as numerous drives had stability issues and it just isn't worth it. Also, making virtually any change to the router's settings on the web interface requires a full reboot, which takes about 1-2 minutes. Show details
Not a bad router – this router is quite expensive, but it’s pretty good, there are alot of features and pretty good speed, the guest network and the restrictions are pretty useful, 5ghz wifi is good for a croweded wifi space. but i just coudn’t get the app to work away from the network in the app. Show details
Used to be good router – I have used it for 3years and It was good until a week ago. It finally died without any hope. Overall, quite disappointed with this brand and product. Just purchased a new different brand (Asxx)to try the luck.
Fantastic router – Until I had purchased this router, I was of the belief a router is a router. Just get the cheapest one, and you're off the the races. Except I always had issues with Wi-Fi and connection dropouts. Not any more, this thing is rock solid. in features like USB NAS support seem a little gimmicky and not as smoothly integrated compared with dedicated solutions, but they do work.
Only niggle I have is that the web GUI can be a little clunky.
Feature packed router – Bought this router off gumtree for $100 and I believe that is the best money I have spent on a router. better than the old TP-Link D7 it replaced. The wireless connection has been very stable across all the devices in my house, There are still heaps of features which I haven't explored but I guess those will appeal to a more advanced user.
