Please be advised that New Dimension Homes are under administration as of August 2012.
OK, but proceed with caution – I have built with NDH twice in different regions. In future I will stay clear of NDH as in my opinion they are slow, the workmanship can vary significantly and you have to really negotiate and go in hard when elements of the built go pear shaped. In the first build, I engaged in an independant building inspector to ensure all was good before final… Read more
handover, NDH were unimpressed and delayed handover by a further 3 months fixing minor defects. The last build was delayed with drainage issues due to a poor site cut and NDH did the bare minimum to get an occupancy permit, which meant a further site cut around the existing dwelling which exposed undergound house drainage lines. They also left the site covered in excess rubble, which wasn't the case in the first build. The houses themselves were acceptable but not exceptional, which is reflective of the price of their houses. NDH do an OK job, but there are cracks. price of product, approachable lack of attention to detail, over promise & under deliver
Good Experience overall – It was a slow start to get all the plans changed and agreed and we found dealing with head office quite frustrating at times and they kept chasing for money before we had even reached the next stage. The advice we got on the design was almost non-existent so there are a couple of things we didn't think about or include (fridge width too narrow for… Read more
modern fridges and forgot frosted glass in bathroom). We did have a couple of muck-ups including ordering and designing for the wrong bath in the en-suite but we negotiated a reasonable compromise. That's the bad stuff - the good stuff; Once build started they completed on time and even slightly below budget. The feedback from the on-site supervisor was good and we were pleased with the level of finish. As it is the end result which counts in the end I've given them 4 stars although at some points I might have felt closer to 3. They were flexible on floor plan and options came in on budget Head Office could be difficult to deal with
Warning! Stay away from New Dimension Homes! – Do not deal with them unless you have time and money to throw away. They are dishonest, slow and incompetent. I gave $2000 deposit in Aug 2011 for Soil Test and signed contract in Jan 2012 for approx $283000. Gave a further $12000 in Mar 2012 to start building. Nothing happened and was given variations in April for approx $28000-- still no work… Read more
done! Cancelled contract immediately and they have kept over $7200 for "expenses" incurred. I am now going through VCAT to try and get money back.
They deliberately or negligently underquote and then try and increase their quote and hope you will give up any deposits paid. No letters, phone calls, contact of any kind from the time they got initial deposit to the time the contract was cancelled. Biggest mistake to go with them but hopefully people reading this will not make the same mistake.
Stay away from them you will be sorry. They don't deserve your business.
Incompetent! Slow!
Fine building on Bass Coast – New Dimension have recently finished a home for us at Inverloch. The documentation took some months to complete, but we understand why as all colours, surfaces, and appliances were selected and documented before the contract was signed. Construction took place very swiftly after the contract was signed, and our home was completed about six weeks… Read more
prior to the completion date set out in the contract. We are very happy with the finished result, and a few small matters requiring completion have been promptly fixed by New Dimension. We can certainly recommend this company. Building project was completed quickly with good communication and quick sorting of any issues along the way
St Helena disgrace – New Dimension homes are terrible to say the least. All I have been fed is lies and as others have claimed...passing the buck, blaming their foreman who have left the company. The quality of the total build is very poor, often by the time you notice the poor work, and inform the supervisor its too late as it will be too hard to change. They… Read more
then continue to build with the sub standard installation, at a very slow rate.
The positive comments below must be written by the management of New dimension as every person I have discussed this builder has had a terrible tale to tell!
Just drive past the St Helena estate and look at any of the places, knock on the residents door and ask them. I have noting good to write about new dimension You name it they mucked it up - Slab, steel, frame, brickwork, plaster, tiling, flooring, joinery, hydraulics, fit off, landscaping, defects
Terrible – A complete nightmare. Unprofessional, rude, incompentent, slack, careless, unskilled & amateur. Let me repeat that - Unprofessional, rude, incompentent, slack, careless, unskilled & amateur! I would not wish my experience with this mob on my worst enemy. Zero. Nothing, Nada. Niente. That's right, absolutely NOTHING! Everything. Not one thing… Read more
has been done correctly in the place. A half job is good enough for them, but not for me. They just do not care, have been waiting for over a year to get a house built! Building with them has been one of the biggest mistakes of my life. If you read this and are thinking of building through New Dimension, think again. They will ruin what should be an exciting part of your lives, the best part is that they just don't care.
New Dimension! – Do not build with this incompetent group of people. Nice as pie to your face but once the contract is signed trouble starts. Great communication up until signing of the contract and choosing colours but when things start to go off track like: 1. Slab poured then no other works over a month 2. Early progress claims for every stage 3.… Read more
Numerous supervisors during construction process
4. Shortcuts taken during construction
5. Try and cover up mistakes
6. No return calls
7. No email responses
8. Ignore ignore ignore
9. Always in meetings when you call the office
10. Never answer their mobile phones
11. Always tell you they will get back to you when you have eventually contacted them and they never do.
12. Issue you with that many construction programs it’s not funny oh and can’t meet one of the dates they set?
13. Poor quality building unless you are in the game and keep an eye on them
This group of people always seems to blame everyone else when you try and make them accountable.
Everything!
Give em a miss!!! – Our experience with New Dimensions started in January 2011. Our daughter and her small son eventually got to move in the 2nd week of July 2012. We were on a tight budget and the price came in on the nose. Our final contract price included fly screens, higher ceiling, timber floors and carpet, holland blinds, outside gas point, 30mtrs cement… Read more
IXL's and 3 or 4 other things. Building had well commenced when the company called us for price variations. What was included was now not included. We were told by an employee that if we didn't sign the documentation agreeing to the variations, building would cease. We drove from Central Victoria to Carrum Downs on several occasions in an attempt to negotiate our inclusions, phone calls were rarely returned and for the 18months it took to build our small house we put up with lies more lies and promises that months to come to fruition. As building progressed and we refered back to our contract and plans A to E we now see that the 5 plan variations didn't only reflect the issue at hand but New Dimensions sneakily took the opportunity to make our our project smaller by a total of 2 squares without price reduction they made other unorthorized changes eg. leaving out the included gas point and IXL's, changing the paint system and including a smaller tank. Stay clear of this lot...... Deception is their middle name.
Not much, would not recomend this company to anyone!!!!
The finish of the house was very average – The sales people make lots of promises but the finish did not live up to these standards. - The plaster and painting is terrible. Paint left all over the window frames, nails showing, then cracks appeared very quickly. - The tiling is rough, particularly the feature tiles. - The architraves were left dinted in many locations. - Water gets… Read more
into the garage under the roller door.
- Switches were wired upside down.
- The telecommunications wiring was left at ground level not off the ground were it should be.
- New Dimension bricklayers working on the property next door broke our down pipe and it was never fixed. Looks good from the outside Poor quality finish
Phillip Island – Appox 10 years ago we wanted a house built on a rural property. We signed up with a couple of the major builders, who ultimately found it did not suit them to build our house, wasting about 6 months of our time. We then found New Dimensions who were most helpfull in the design and construction of our house. Our experience with them was most… Read more · 1
satisfactory, from start to fininsh. We still live in this house, and it has withstood all we and the weather could throw ast it. At 10 years old, it may now need a repaint, but that is all.
Subsequently we needed a holiday house built on Phillip Island, and after much searching, went to New Dimension again, who proved their capabilities again. Their salesman, Colin, was most professional, and the site supervisor, Neil Davidson, was very competent and helpful throughout the process. The few problems we encountered were attended to promptly.
Would and have recommended to other prospective home owners. Profesionalism, competence of staff and subbies, reasonable pricing
Coastal living at its best – Great experience, we built with New Dimensions in 2011 on the Bass Coast and they are so flexible. We took a standard house design and completely changed the layout under the roof-line to meet our needs and stretched the length of the slab in the process. The slab went down in Feb 2011 while we were in Australia and regular site meetings were a… Read more
matter of course. After 5 weeks they had reached lock-up and from there to final completion in May 2011 we were overseas liaising with the site foreman by mobile phone.
The house completed on time and came in bang on budget. Occupancy Permit was issued end of May at which point we took over fit out of flooring and New Dimensions maintenance were on hand to trim doors and attend small remedial works as necessary.
We now have a first class house that we are very proud of and which has attracted lots of admiration from friends and neighbours. A flexible approach to home design, lots of good advice and a great team to work with
Terrible – 1 - Sales. Poor sales staff and I only chose New Dimension because I was limited by price and block. Chose against Metricon, Symonds, Neilson and Macalister. 2 - Ridiculous $3000 deposit 3 - Inclusions and choices. This constantly changed without my knowledge and I had to review every addition/deletion. I had to double check everything, any… Read more
error was always in their favour.
4 - Building - excellent. Very quick, nice work. The Gippsland tradesmen used were excellent and friendly. If I could possibly use them without going through New Dimension I would have no hesitation in recommending them.
5 - The house. It's very nice for the price. I have had two completely different experiences with New Dimension Homes. The quality of the work has been very, very good. My dealings with the internal staff have completely turned me off the product. I can't recommend them simply based upon how they made me feel. Time it took to build - 4 months. Quality of most of the work - bricks, floor, tiling (local tradies in Gippsland). Price. The office staff/managers are the rudest people I have ever come across. After sales service (nil). The maintenance department is outsourced.
Don't put yourself through torture! – No communication unless they are after your money, completely incompetent site managers who allow appauling work to go on, refuse to replace damaged materials, no hesitation in lying about progress and completition, rude, treat paying customers poorly & made no effort to build a relationship to ensure building your home is a pleasent experience. would not recommend NDH under any circumstances. The whole process from the beginning has been a living nightmare. Absolutely nothing Dishonest, extremely poor quality, no respect for customers or customer's money, slow, incompetant, cut corners

Disgraceful – New Dimension Homes have done nothing but disappoint,LIE and test our patients in every single aspect of the building process thus far. I would never recommend them to anyone, there communication is non existent, except when they want there payments of course, there site foreman doen't seem to have any idea of whats actually happening on site. … Read more
I'm not a builder but I'm 100% sure I could do a better job than New Dimension Homes and do it a lot faster. Absolutely nothing
Very disappointing – New dimension keep us waiting all the time throughout the whole building process. Now that the contract has expired, they still can't update us with a finishing date. Nothing much has been done since Easter, every day our house is sitting idle with the supervisor and some other staff, even tradies all on Easter holidays. It only takes a few… Read more
days to finish off but there is just nothing happening. They keep telling us they will follow up and all is booked but don't seem to keep their words. We want to see real action, not just empty words. flexible floor plan lack of communication and slow progress
Terrible – The office staff are what let the company down. Stuff doesn't get ordered, mistakes with instructions, claims get sent early, won't respond to phone calls. A couple of the tradies were good but most were prety ordinary and it was left to us to point out mistakes. Dont' pay extra to use New Dimension on the basis that you're going to get better… Read more
quality. Allowed customisation of designs Office Staff are useless to the point where it cost us money. Site supervisor had no control over tradies.
Maintenance. 1 man - dozens of jobs hence you will wait months and months.
Good – As first time home buyers, we have nothing but praise for New Dimension Homes. Not only was the building process smooth from commencement to completion, the advice that we received was priceless. There were some minor issues along the way, but each situation was rectified with pleasing results with constant communication along the way. We even… Read more
had a situation where we needed grouting fixed after we had moved in and the grouter came around to fix this the next day. We now have a quality home that we are proud to say was built by New Dimension Homes. We could use our own designs, excellent communication, quality home as an end result
Very Dissapointing – It didn't take long for things to start going wrong when our site costs came it at $8000 more than the "absolute most" that New Dimensions indicated they could be. We also found our concrete allowance was about enough for a 2 metre footpath. From here we suffered lengthy delays and while the finished product was reasonable they made some basic… Read more
mistake such as putting the hot water service on the front of the house rather than the back.
After completion we found that there were some fairly minor unfinished issues, but all we got from New Dimension Homes was denial and buck-passing. It took the threat of an Ombudsman to finally get our minor issues sorted.
Would not build through them again. Price was relatively good, however unaccounted for extras soon add up. Lots. Read review.
I can't believe I have to give them one star - why can't I give them half a star? – Ridiculous $3g deposit, the need for which quickly becomes apparent. If it was $1000 you'd walk away after the first phone call with the head office. You have to watch them at every stage. Every single change to the inclusion list was wrong and overpriced. When you receive an invoice you'll get their GM on the phone the next day asking where… Read more

12 months on I've sold the house with too many problems to list at a $50g loss. I liked leaving this review so no one else builds with them Every..... single...... thing.
Terrible – Built in Traralgon and had to build through them for a house and land package, would have rather spend the extra money on another block that wasn’t as cheap and save money on the build cost. For the price paid for construction i was very let down by many things most of all the quality and the small allowances for various items. Concreter that… Read more
done the driveway, nice guy that took the time to talk before doing the job so we both knew what was going to happen, the driveway ended up with an excellent quality. Unprofessional office staff that lack in knowledge and respect for clients.
Actually had colour consultant tell me i didn’t not know what i was talking about even though i am a qualified building designer, was not sure of her qualifications but they seemed limited.
I was billed for every slight change, changes were not forwarded to trades so i had to take time out of my working day to talk to pretty much every trade.
The site foremen had too many jobs on and did not have time for my house.
Signed the building contract in Jan 2010 and house is still not built, approx 3 months overdue by the contract.
Poor finish to every trades work, except the concreter that done the driveway.
Terrible – I wanted to build my retirement home with no stress.. Do not use these builders.. unless you like having your time and money wasted. Worst customer service, quality of work and value for money! Office staff - Very rude receptionist and never passes on phone messages. Quality of work Time - currently 3months over! Worst trades people I have ever come across.. not one thing in the house is correct.
If I could rate zero stars I would, do not under any circumstances build with this 'company' – Terrible, from the time it took just to settle the land, to the fact that after 2 years, and 5 building supervisors, we still do not have a completed house. Every promise, every single date has been pushed back and back without exception. The land sat there without a completed slab for more than a year!!! No follow up phone calls, you have to… Read more
chase them for everything.
No remorse for the fact that we have been paying a mortgage for which so far we have recieved nothing!!
Work that has been done is of 'make do' quality and quite literally every tradesperson we have come into contact with, will never deal with New Dimension again.
Quite frankly for my partner and I this has been a living hell, with no end in sight. Looking to start legal proceedings, as I feel we are banging our head repeatedly against a brick wall!
Have had more revised completion times, than we've had hot dinners!
Nothing they say holds any meaning now, as we have learnt that they cannot stick to even the most basic of timelines.
If our terrible time can save any of the rest of you, I implore to anyone reading this - find another builder!
Seriously no customer service, pass the buck is the motto at ND, just blame it on the last five building supervisors that have resigned! Sagging ceilings, broken plastering, sagging gutterings, filthy work site, sodden insulation due to inadequete roofing, i could go on and on!!
We acknowledge and are concerned about your… Read more

Disappointing – Our house has been sitting idle for more than a month without any carpenter to turn up. Have to wait for him to finish other jobs first. When pressing for explanation, either no reply or lack of information as to what is really happening. Very concerned how long we are going to wait and dont't understand why ND can't find other carpenters. flexible to change in floor plan Short of carpenters and lack of communication
Put us off building or a while – We actually didn't get to the building stage with New Dimension. After 5 months of waiting (2 months for the soil test alone)for the final contract and the settlement date on the land, coming and going(without a single phone call to tell us the contract wasn't far off, we lost the block, thus no land to build on.) we decided to pull the plug. this is how we were treated at this early stage, who knows how long we'd be waiting if something went wrong with the building process?
We have been demanding a full refund of the deposit back, as any work done towards the house is now pointless due to the lack of land. So far we have been waiting...over a month to hear anything back...or receive anything at all.
Will be following this up with Consumer Affairs very soon.
We are first time builders/ home owners and the process has been so stressful and frustrating that we've actually decided to take a 'Holiday' from any house related endeavors. I'm not sure about other New Dimension Homes (we actually dropped in to the Cowes display home and the sales rep. in there was more really helpful and informative.), but I would not recommend the Traralgon office to anyone. Price points, flexible to changes.. Misleading sales people. Terrible communication (our sales rep, was not made aware that we'd cancelled by his boss, three weeks after the fact. No follow up or urgency to anything at all. Coices at colour and house selection stage were very limited and ran through very quickly. When I enquired about speaker cables in the wall (during the electrical selection) was told "I dont wnat to know about that".
Overall a good experience – We have just finished our ND home and there was positives and negatives throughout the whole process but overall I am happy with the final result. We too went through 2 supervisors but they were both nice and upfront about what was happening. Their communication needs improvement between us the paying customers and their administration. was finished the way we wanted it with exception of a few items that got fixed up before handover. They were a couple of weeks late and had a few excuses but they did deliver the whole package.
This is my 3rd house I have had built and I have to say that New Dimension Homes are not the worst builder I have dealt with and believe me I have had some shockers.
I would recommend ND as a good builder. Having built before I know the processes and the promises builders make, you have to become a project manager yourself and make sure that each stage is on time and that every little piece of your house is there. READ YOUR CONTRACT and make sure you understand every page front to back. good quality, flexible plan changes communication
No problem builders! – We were out of the country when our New Dimension Home was built. Not only was the process problem free, the house was even finished nearly a month before deadline! Pleased with the Product and speed of delivery – New Dimensions adapted one of their plans to suit our ideas. one cupboard fixed up. The supervisor [name removed] was outstanding.
Also a few months after we settled in we were able to get a door catch attended to. (No cost to us)
I would have liked the installing of our large water tank done under their supervision but they seemed reluctant to be involved and this then cause problems with the plumber not getting things quite right.
We have been in the house 4 years and it has been great! Roomy, great family area. Plenty of light and nicely orientated.
A great job - a hassle free build – Right from the start to finish the New Dimension team have been fantastic!
