So satisfied – I have had my NHD for almost 10 years and it was the best straightener i have ever used, until my 5 month old puppy chewed through the cord. Not once did i have to replace it, or get it serviced, it worked like a charm. I would definitely recommend it. well worth the 5 stars
NHD vs GHD – I owned original GHD for 8 years before I accidentally dropped and broke it....so went to hairhouse warehouse to replace it and was talked into getting a NHD instead because it could heat at higher temp then the GHD as their design had changed and no longer heat at 210. Have had no problems wIth NHD until today, some 4 years since purchase, it… Read more
just simply died!! Off to the shops to buy another - quandry is do I go for GHD or NHD...????? worked well
Love it! – I got this for Christmas two years ago, and i have used it everyday. its fantastic, just like my friend GHD but half the price. the plastic has cracked along the plate on one side, but i think that's my fault for dropping it. the settings go nice and hot for my thick way hair, and it doesn't seem to damage my hair too much. a great buy I'd say. I'd def buy again. Keeps working, cheap but great quality
Not Impressed – I too went to Hairhouse Warehouse to purchase a GHD Straightening iron and was talked into buying the NHD with the staff saying it was the same quality but was cheaper as it was a lesser known brand. It straightened my hair well however, I have only had it for about 6 months and it has now completely stopped working. I have not dropped it or… Read more
damamged it in any way. The iron initially stopped heating up to hot temperatures one day and by the next it had failed altogether. Its certainly not the quality product I was led to believe, not impressed for the $160 I paid for it.
Will be taking it back to Hairhouse Warehouse. When the iron worked, I was happy with the results Iron has failed completely after 6 months
very disappointing – i brought an Nhd in January this year from Hairhouse Wearhouse after looking around for a good quality hair straightner, i was reassured that it would last for many years. after 5 month it just died... first the beeper that lets you know it was ready to use would beep every two minutes. a few days later it made crackling noises so i turned it off… Read more
and re-tried it in 10 minutes where it didn't work at all.. it heated fast and straightened really well also it was pink and pretty.. i paid $160 and was very dissapointed when it stopped after 5 months when i was reassured that it would last a very long time.
Terrible – Crap! Crap! Crap! & crap! Do not buy!! Waste of money! Buy a straightner from Priceline - you get your money back easier with Priceline as they follow up faults & give you money back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! only worked for 2months....crap Bought a NHD straightner from Hairhouse warehouse, only lasted 2 months, replaced unit & second unit did not work at… Read more
all, when asked for my money back told "No", will exchange only, don't buy a nhd, they are crap!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent – If this one brakes again ill buy the same one for the third time. If your looking to buy a hair straightner trust me go for this one. If you look after it, it will make your hair just like you want it. Nhd is the way to go. If your looking for a good hair straightener this is the one. I purchased one about a year and 5 months ago never had a… Read more
problem with it. Unfortunatly my bf kicked it by mistake and now it's no good. Im actually looking at one brand new on ebay just the same coz for me this is a really good hair straightener. My hair is very thick and long and no other hair straightener can make my hair so smooth and soft . Nhd is the way to go!!! I dislike nothing about this hair straightner. What else do you need? It heats up in just 12 seconds!!
Excellent – I love it so much and i have got all my friends using it because my friend was going to a wedding and on that same day she went and got a ghd and she went home coming to do her hair and it started to heat up and smoke started to come out of it but lucky for her i came to her house with a nhd and since that day i havnt got my nhd back because she… Read more
loves it so much.i wish all the best for nhd.xox. What i like about it is that it dosn't burn the hair like ghd and it heats up fast and i love using it for curls and for straght hair nothing! but i would like to say that GHD is terrible and my recommendation is for people to not even think of buying ghd.
Great buy – Excellent hair straightner not until I used this did I understand that it really does straighten better than your cheap $20 ones.
Good – I owned an NHD for about 2 years before i accidentally dropped it and it broke, but up until then it was a great straightener, and always left my fine hair very smooth and healthy. I bought a GHD after that which I've had for almost the same amount of time and my hair is a damaged mess. The GHD has dried the [censored word removed] out of my hair… Read more
and as a result my hair has thinned right out and I have constant split ends. I am thinking about buying another NHD.
My advice? Buy a straightener with adjustable heating! The ajustable heating and the fact that it doesn't dry the [censored word removed] out of your hair, very effective straightener A tad flimsier than ghd
Bad – I intentionally went to Hairhouse Warehouse on Saturday to buy a GHD but staff talked me into buying a NHD. . One of the staff offered test both on my hair and i found that they were quite similar. However the NHD's quality was in a way worse condition then the GHD was. My sis said maybe cause they use it more often then GHD but after reading… Read more
other reviews on here, i'm thinking of going back and exchanging it for a GHD lol. . It's alright The quality
OK – Id give it a fair chance to succeed as it had done the job for me in the past and effective when hair short nice and easy to use waiting time to heat up and takes a long time with long hair
Excellent – My NHD straightener has been used daily for nearly 3 years now and I haven't had any problems with it and its still going strong. When I bought it from Hairhouse Warehouse the sales assistant gave me a holder as well as a heat resistant bag for travelling as a bonus. I have used other brands before NHD (both cheaper and more expensive) and they… Read more
haven't lasted as long. It could be due to the fact that I use the holder when it is not in use and the cord is not pulled or tangled. Whatever it is, I am very happy with it. Fast heating time, variable temperature control. Smooth glide action on my thick curly hair. Reliable.

Terrible – bought this product on the 29.12.09 I only use a few times a week. It broke 2 days ago, wont even turn on. Don't buy this product I paid $270 and it isn't worth it. Im originally from Sydney and they don't stock the NHD straighter, so I have to send the faulty straighter to the Melbourne warehouse and wait over 1 month for a replacement. NOT HAPPY!!! Has variable tempreture controls Cheap quality, poorly buit
Bad – A brilliant straightener if it would only keep working. For the price paid I would expect it to last much longer. Straightens hair realy quickly and heats up quickly I have had two that have stopped working. They replace the first one a few weeks ago and now the other one has done the same thing. The light goes out and I cannot get it to heat up again
Terrible – I like the high temps and the temp control but the quality of the product is rubbish. I should have spent the extra $100 and got myself a GHD because then my hair would be straight right now! Worked really well for about 12 months The fact that it doesn't even work anymore! For the price you pay I would expect this to last a lot longer than it did.
Good – I own a GHD and my housemate brought a NHD so she didn’t have to constantly borrow mine. I have used it many times and whilst biased towards my own GHD, admittedly the results have been similar. The NHD feels smoother when running it through my hair, and my fine hair stays straight as long as with the GHD. My housemate also has similar results on… Read more
her coarse, thick, curly hair. The body very much resembles the GHD and is easy to use, but the plastic feels flimsy and I am very careful when putting it down as I worry it may break. However at that high price charged for it at salons I would just buy a GHD which is well known for providing consistent results. Heats up fast, slim, light body easy to handle, glides through hair smoothly, hair stays straight. Questionable build quality.
Good – I've had my NHD for pretty much 3 years. I have not used/owned a GHD so I cannot compare the two against each other but in my opinion I was generally happy with my NHD. After about two years however wear and tear was noticeable, the cord towards the iron part became really lose and the internal blue and red wires began to stick out. Also the black… Read more
plastic around the ceramic plates kind of chipped off and in general the cable got really lose and tangly. I would suggest to people that when you use your NHD you should untangle the whole cable everytime. I think me not doing this helped to wear out the cable. However overall I was generally happy with the product. The red LED switch would flicker faster and faster as the NHD got hotter and this was a feature that I found to be useful. However as I said before mine lasted for 3 years. Recently it broke (it wouldnt heat up/the light wouldnt come on) and after fiddling with it for a while to try and get it working again i noticed a strange burning smell so I stopped trying to fix it. As for the other stories of it not working after 3 months, this wasnt the case with me, as I used it at least daily/every second for 3 years at around 30 minutes to 40 minutes at a time. However I never dropped it or smashed it against anything ever so maybe this helped. Overall what initally attracted me to it was the price, it was $200 versus GHD's $300 so thats why I first bought it. I would agree with the others who talked about the packaging as I found this very basic. I basically just learnt for myself how to use it. My NHD only had one switch (ON and OFF) and a red LED light to indicate when it was ready to use. It heated up fully within about a minute but it is possible that over the years it might not have stayed extremely hot after longer amounts of time (however this was not very noticeable at all). All in all, since my NHD is now broken I think I am going to buy a GHD just for the fact that it comes in different models and that it might have different/more features than the NHD. And after using this I would definitely be able to say for certain which of the two is better. However overall my experiences with the NHD was good. All products have a shelf life and I think mine just stopped working because of general wear and tear. Slimline design, heats up fast, long cable, LED switch flickers faster and faster to indicate optimum temperature Packaging slightly basic, wear and tear of the cable and with the plastic surrounding the cermamic plates, no temperature adjustment
Excellent – The NHD is the hairs best friend. It is very easy and quick to use and the results last up to four days without causing frizziness. Unlike other straighteners, your hair isn't burnt and the results are professional, even if it is being used by a novice. This is made in the same factory as the well known GHD, but with a better ceramic plate and… Read more
temperature control. Where the GHD has spent money on promoting its product as number one on the market, the NHD has put the money towards making its product technologically advanced. Anyone who would rather spend more money on a less superior product should opt for the GHD. If you are after professional results for an affordable price, then look no further because the NHD is brilliant. Very easy to use, glides through hair withoutout catching or burning. Curls or straightens instantly. The NHD heats almost instantly to whichever temperature setting up to 210 degrees. It is light weight and very easy to manipulate hair, without burning it.
Terrible – Stay away from this brand. Did everyone also notice that the packaging and item is similar to GHD??? What a scam. After 5 weeks of having purchased it from Petra Haircare in Melbourne for $230 it stopped working. I took it back and was told by the mgr that it had nothing to do with them and I should contact the manufacturer. Will never purchase a NHD and will never shop again at any PETRA HAIRCARE Store.
Excellent – I used many irons on my curly hair and this is the best. My hair isn't as dry as my friends' hair who uses her GHD. Go for the NHD!!! This is the best hair iron I have EVER used!My friend has the new GHD and we compared. The NHD straightened my hair quicker and was more slick. GHD is just a name! Only thing was that it doesn't come with the DVD that the GHD comes with.
Bad – Very dissapointed i am going to get a refund and buy a GHD. Hopefully my new one will last longer than 3 months. The NHD is great....when it works. I have very thick hair and the NHD straightened it great. I have had the same problem as the other girl who commented here. The first one i got stopped working after about 3 months so i got a… Read more
replacement then another 3 months have gone by and it has stopped working again.
The light doesn't come on and it won't heat up.
At first it was ok as i know that electronics do have their ups and downs and i thought i just got a faulty one, but a second time thats a bit much!
Not happy!

Excellent – I absolutely adore my straightener. I use it every single day,and my hair is as healthyas ever! It works so efficiently, and hasn't brken once and i've had it almost 2 years! I has heaps of heat settings for all the different hair types. It also heats up very quickly. It is basically the same as the GHD, but way more affordable. The thin plates… Read more
make it esy to straighten hair. Also being ceramic, it doesnt damage your hair as much, and also can straighten slightl damp hair. It is so easy to use, its light and goes through my boofy hair so easily. Nothing at all.
Excellent – It is great, my hair is silky smooth now. and it works for my budget, now im not having to go to the hairdresser and getting my hair straightened! if your looking for quality then NHD is the way to go trust me! I love it! It heats up so quickly!! works miracles i swear! Affordable! Nothing at all! I wouldnt trade it in for a GHD. My sister had a… Read more
GHD and it took twice as long to heat up than an NHD! GHD is a waste of money and breaks after a year. Took it back and they wouldnt replace it so she got a NHD too!
Excellent – Well i think its a good buy, but try not to straighten your hair everyday, you might wreck it! so go ahead.. spoil yourself! Well i got the NHD and yes, it DOES in fact heat up fast. My hair feels super smooth and nice! I have millions of split ends! the straightness doesn't last for very long but that usually happens anyways when i straighten my hair
Terrible – im never buying any straightener with metal plates again, im now using the t3 iron and iv never been happier! tourmaline plates so my hair isnt damaged and no split ends! love the t3, but never making the mistake to buy the nhd again! honestly, i didnt like anything. it burnt my hair and left it with split ends and breakage. worst mistake i ever… Read more
made. everything! it burnt my hair, made it dry and unmanageable. its metal plated so it burnt my hair so much i had to cut it all off.
Good – Seems to do quite a good job.First time I've ever tried a straightener but definitely works. They all hurt your hair but this doesnt seem too harsh and alot cheaper to GHD and i was told is made by same factory/company I bought one recently/.I was going to buy a GHD but this was alot cheaper....I like the various heat settings. nothing really
