This is One powerful vacum cleaner – This is a powerful vaccume cleaner the only down points the lid hinges are weak and care needs to be taken opening and closing other than that I would say this is the best cleaner I have ever owned . Show details

Good all round heavy duty vacuum cleaner – Performance/suction - good, have five speeds, does the job, carry all the nozzles for narrow crevices, surfaces, sofas...etc. Good telescope pole and base nozzle. Very solid build quality, reliable long lasting. The hose had to be replaced because if you keep pulling it will eventually wear and break off at the end connected to the vacuum cleaner.… Read more

Quietness - on full mode it can be loud, usually have it on the 3rd or middle power rating.

Light - it is heavy to move it, definitely not light at all. It is easy to maneuver with the wheels on the vacuum cleaner itself and telescopic rod.

Bags - the bags are high quality synthetic bags but very expensive. The genuine bags do have a flap that close of the bag when its removed. Generic bags don't have the bag flap cover.

Conclusion - it cost a bit of money at the time, its reliable and performs well. It uses bags which can be expensive and its a bit heavy. It does the job well and lasts a long time.

Good performer! – Bought this Nilfisk x150 from gumtree recently. Paid $150. Happy with suction performance - I can hear this machine really sucking up dirt etc from my rugs! Very satisfying sound - I can feel and hear that it's doing it's job! Negatives?? The damn catch that closes the onboard attachments compartment just won't close anymore - broken! I've held… Read more

it closed with black duct tape and it doesn't look too bad. Not the easiest machine to maneuvre around a room - it's a tall machine and a bit heavy. Also, the cord should be longer!

You need dust bags for this machine which is a hassle as I generally prefer bagless machines, but I buy replacement cardboard bags from Bunnings as it's cheaper than the genuine Nilfisk ones.

Positives? Great suction - you can dial up the suction strength to suit the job at hand. It's also a very quiet machine! I'm amazed how quiet it is. And it doesn't scare the living daylights out of my pets!!

Everything just feels a lot cleaner once I've given it the 'once over' with this vacuum! I use it on my timber floors, tiled floors and rugs - perfect performance on all surfaces as the vacuum heads are adjustable and changeable to cater to different surfaces.

I'd definitely consider buying a Nilfisk again - but a bagless variety.

Powerful machine – Bought my Nilfisk x150 on sale at Myer approx 5 years ago. As a Domestic Cleaner I needed a reliable vacuum that equaled my old Nilfisk King! The a Extreme's power/suction definitely did that and it's still doing 7 houses a week every week! The first thing I did was discard the multi purpose head, I only ever use a generic hard floor head,… Read more

it's wider so covers a bigger area and unlike multi purpose heads does not scratch any hard floors. The hard floor head is also great on carpet. The proof being in using my Dyson Motor Head on a Clients carpets & picking up no more dirt, dust, lint & pet hair than I would if I used my Dyson everyday on their carpets.

I would love a power head for it but the turbo head available is too expensive!

It's been dropped on several occassions, accidentally sucked up small amounts of water at times so I definitely can't complain but wish I still had my old King as it was a much stronger machine, fantastic!!

It was a yellow & grey model and given to me buy a Client who upgraded & quite old.

The down side of the X150 is that it doesn't manoeuvre like the old Kings with swivel wheels all round, the handle broke after a couple of years, my partner tried mending it but it just wasn't strong enough!

Just recently the catch that closes the accessories compartment broke, it would also shut off occasionally leaving me in the middle of a clean with no vacuum cleaner till it cooled down enough to restart!

I finally pulled the Hepa Filter out which stopped the over heating & switching off!

I've just ordered a hew handle & hose so hoping it lasts me another couple of years till I retire!

Pity there is not a reuseable cloth bag available!

Cheaper paper bags are available at BUNNINGS for approx $10 for a pack of 5!!

I think I'd probably buy another Nilfisk especially if it was bagless, they have been a great asset for my work & literally vacuum up almost anything!!

Great motor. Cheap casing and handle that breaks easily – The vacuum was expensive, but I wanted a good product. The motor is powerful with excellent suction. Replacement bags are costly, but very functional. However, the casing and handle are made of cheap plastic and poorly designed. Everything is breaking. Simply unacceptable. No more Nilfisk vacuums for me!

Disappointed – I purchased this product because my sister had a friend who had had one for years and still raved about how great it was. Mine is about 18 months, I do use it weekly, not daily; it shuts down for no apparent reason; leave it for a while and then starts up again...overheats? The suction is good but not happy with the casing. For what I paid for… Read more

the vacuum cleaner, I expected it to last me 10+ years, as did my last one...not Nilfisk. I can see this one having to be replaced much sooner than anticipated. It will not be replaced with a Nilfisk.

Such a disappointment!

great suction – I have 2 nilfisk vacums, one at home, the other at work, the models may not be still available as both are over 10 yrs old, but they match the shape in the picture. These machines have excellent suction and just keep on going and going. I like this indicator that tells me when the bag will need replacing. The only down side is the bags are not… Read more

always easily available, only one shop stocks them where I live and they can be out of stock. The filters do need replacing too, so there are ongoing costs. I am really happy with them though and would probably buy Nilfisk again and would recommend it as a brand given the reliabilty over a long time.

Do not recommend – Purchased the Nilfisk - bought what appeared to be the top of the line. Lasted less than two years - constant problem with overheating and shutting down. Expensive to replace bags and filters. Eventually stopped working at 18 months. Never again purchase a Nilfisk - quality not up to standard

Will never buy another one like this again – I have had this vaccum for 5 years and like all other reviews , the handle broke and was replaced and then broke again about 3 times, the remote buttons broke on the handle ,lift up lid on the casing has broken off, and the cord doesn't retract.. Like others have reported the machine overheats at times and stops .The motor has just crapped out, I bought it because of nilfisks good name in vaccums.we are about to look for another brand,

I bought it because of nilfisks good name in vaccums.we are about to look for another brand, our previous vaccum was an electrolux which lasted 10 years plus.

We are struggling to get 5 years out of this one as it is becoming unusable. Great motor and suction The plastic handle was flimsy and broke on several occasions , lid of casing fell off

Expensive over designed sucker – After a couple of years the motor of my new Nilfisk started overheating and turning itself off. Despite having all its various and annoying filters replaced this gradually got worse. Then the hose handle fell apart - a common problem I believe and the lid on the body of the unit decided to also stop closing. While it worked it did so well and… Read more

quietly but for a top of the line expensive vac I had expected better. It is over designed and complicated and a big backwards step in reliability. Avoid Quiet and powereful while it lasted Over designed and prone to failure

Great vacuum on all surfaces – Very powerful vacuum which picks up dirt from hard floors or carpet wonderfully. The different heads all pick up dirt in corners and around edges. This vacuum does have a bag but they are designed so that you can pull a tab before you take it out and it doesn't get dusty (I have really bad allergies). Very good on all surfaces Noisy but not as noisy as others which are as powerful

Badly designed – I've owned my Nilfisk X300 for over 4 years and decided to purchase it based on a Choice review. The handle broke in the warranty period and was replaced with a slightly, better designed version. The replacement has since fallen apart after several years of service so that while I can still vacuum, I can no longer adjust the suction as the control… Read more

for that is in the handle part which detached. The catch for the lid to the accessory compartment also broke, as did one of the hinges for the compartment. The vacuum has only ever had normal, household use and no mistreatment. I find the turbo head to be problematic for vacuuming hard surfaces because it tends to spread objects around rather than sucking them up eg. grains of rice. It's necessary to use the appropriate, hard-surface head rather than the turbo head for this circumstance. When vacuuming slightly sandy surfaces, for example the car after a trip to the beach, the vacuum will overheat and it's necessary to clean out the offending matter from the bag compartment before the vacuum will again function. Apart from these obvious design defects, I am satisfied with the sucking ability of the vacuum and have been able to get by with it, knowing it's limitations. I'm annoyed I paid so much money for it.

Value For Money – I owned this machine for a while now and have to agree, if you treat this machine with respect and care for it, it will last a lifetime. The suction on the machine is extreme, excellent for pet owners, does exactly what its meant to. Yes its a big machine, if you are gentle with it, it is excellent for the price. Also came with a 5 year warranty, love it. Excellent suction.

Terrible – A major disapointment. I previously owned a nilfisk that was well used and lasted 10 years. It eventually stopped and I went straight for a Nilfisk again. only to use it for six months when the group handle cracked at the side of the controls. This took 2 months to receive a replacement, that it seems was slightly different and would not click in as secure to the wand. A complaint was made with return of the wand and new group handle. After 8 weeks of waiting, Im informed that all components were lost and new were orderd. The items did not clip in like the prior and I was told this was as good as it gets. Two weeks out of warrant, the motot and pc board blow up. The cost of repair exceeded the original cost of hte machine. Strong suction, turbo head and variable speed Poor quality and design flaws, warranty claim process and Nilfisk Australia's lack of logic in possible replacement, with the decision of continual repairs

Nilfisk Extreme 300 – I've had my nilfisk for 6 years now. Loved it when i first bought it, but then it started to fall apart. :( I love the suction on it. It's the best I've had in a vacuum cleaner. regular vacuuming you could see the handle contort, and it snapped over time. This has happened twice. THe cord hates to retract all the way. The button for retraction snapped off. The whole lid has now snapped off. The machine overheats usually before i've finished vacuuming my house. It is a 23 square home. The machine is quite noisy now. I also once had to send it in as the electronics in it blew.

Best machine ever – I have had this machine for approx 8 months now and being a Dyson owner for many years I would never go back. The suction is excellent and like anything these days... you get what you pay for. If you look after it the way you would anything else you paid in excess of $450 for it will last you a lifetime. Excellent suction, on board tool storage

week and thought i would keep it and give it a try. After using for less than 15 mins the cord started to retract automatically and would not stay out. I also noticed the poor build quality of the handle which seems prone to breaking according to reviews here. I returned it to Harvey Norman and swapped for an Electrolux Ultraclean ZUA3860P which so far is excellent. The staff didn't seem surprised when I returned it, it is obviously a very poorly designed and built vacuum Seemed to suck quite well, picked up lots of fluff and dirt in the short time I used it. Poor quality machine for the price RRP $749, Very hard to push around, cord retracts on it own, only used for 15 minutes!!

X300R - quality didn't match the price – Considering we paid $699 for the Nilfisk X300R in 2008, the product has been very disappointing over its three year life. Most recently it has stared to overheat and simply stops working for long period, making it impossible to vacuum the house in a reasonable time. The accessories lid is… Read more

the plot.

It is very heavy, maybe because all the accessories are on board. Also, it has this pre-filter, and a hepa filter, and some other filter. These are good BUT you need to replace them all the time (sometimes these cause it to stop if not changed ) and they aren't cheap.

A tremendous $700 disappointment. Wish I had kept the old Phillips vacuum cleaner, used the broom a bit more and gone on holiday.

Review for Nilfisk Extreme X100 – Try another brand because these are not built to last more than 6 months. We had to get it serviced 2nd month because there was a overheating fault. Could suck start an Airbus A380. 1. Gets hot & cuts out unless the bag is fitted exactly2. cord wont rewind properly nerlly every time3. shabby lid - clip holding it shut, broke with normal use4. Cheap build of housing - should be stronger & of appropiate quality for $700

Good – When I decided to add the X300 to my vacuum collection, I was going out on an unventured path. using synthetic bags, a motor pre filter and charcoal filter - does definitely provide you, and your family with a very high level of protection from allergens.

The machine its self is very well constructed, very solid and well thought out - the soft opening attachment lid, and the quality of the onboard tools is next to Kirby or Rainbow. The hose is long, and very durable as is the aluminum telescopic wand. The handle is one which i could take or leave - it doesn't appear to be overly durable but at the same time feels quite solid. All floor tools (hard-floor/multi surface/turbo brush) are all very well constructed.

The bags run for about $20 for a 4 pack with a pre filter and these bags are made of a next gen synthetic fabric that allows you to fill the bags without compromise on suction. they are a generous size - allowing for a large amount of dirt to be collected.

In conclusion this is a worthwhile vacuum cleaner, and with its 5 yr warranty will provide years of good service and superb filtration. Very Quiet, Fingertip controls without fragile 'cord in hose', availability of bags and filters, included accessories, anti-marking wheels. Lack of Powerbrush for the price.
