Reliable – I have the TS diesel model in manual and bought it new in 2013. The only issue was the battery would die randomly but after 3 batteries we bought a small truck battery that fixed the issue. I have done 130K and it has never missed a beat. Not had to replace the clutch as someone else mentioned so i was puzzled at that. We would buy another what… Read more

is now a qashqai as this has been almost faultless. The car is now showing its age. The trim on the door handles has peeled, some plastic trim rattles but nothing else is broken. A great reliable car.

Love Love Love – I bought my Dualis at 3 years old and I have had it for 8 years now. I have it regularly serviced and to date (fingers crossed) I have had no issues. It is great for around town or on longer trips, easy to park and I will keep it for as long as I can. My only criticism is the internal door handles are peeling, so obviously a plastic of some… Read more

Dualis +2 TI-L 2012 J10 has done well - for minimal services and big kms – I purchased my Nissan Dualis +2 TI-L back in 2012 brand new for $39K, as at today I have travelled 223Kms I have never had an issue with it until now but, that is understandable for the kms it has travelled in its short life and the fact it has been serviced maybe 4 times in its life!! I use the car daily and run 60kms a day at minimum, I have… Read more

also done many long trips interstate. Most recently I have had to replace the ignition coils (and spark plugs while we were at it) as the thing broke down running on 3 cylinders, boy was that a crazy drive home.. yes I drove it home 20kms hr for about 3kms.

The transmission has become quite jumpy when placing into gear in the last 3 or 4 months and I have just been advised that there is too much pressure build up and I will need to have this serviced with solenoids and something else replaced at a cost of around $800.

Other than the above which I expected to happen as the car is not serviced regularly it has never missed a beat in the 8 years that I have owned it. This year alone I have spent $2500 (including the trans) on repairs/replacements.

I have never owned a car for more than 3 years and would generally trade in for another new one to avoid major services and problems that come with an older vehicle so this is all new for me. This car has all the mod cons you could want, heated seats, automatic windscreen wipers, 360c camera, moon roof, air bags galore and most importantly cruise control!

Very comfortable vehicle and nice to drive with great fuel economy for a 7 seater, that is one thing I will say.... the 2 rear seats are for children only, not much leg room back there at all, great as a 5 seater with a huge space in the boot/rear!

Love my car – I use my car everyday and for camping trips. I wanted a car that is stylish but had the space. I have never had any issues over the 6 years of owing it. The only let down is that the interior door panels have a black seal on them thats peeling. Ive always kept undercover so its not sun damage just wear from opening the door and using the widow buttons. Show details

Good build quality, some poor design choices – My partner purchased a midnight blue 2013 Dualis (second hand, near new from a dealership) last year, while it is a well put together car it suffers from a number of design flaws. 1.) The CVT (constant velocity transmission) while a good idea in theory, means that the car accelerates slowly and uses a massive amount of fuel when under load (going… Read more

up hills, towing etc.) This is so chronic that is possible to watch the DTE (Distance 'till empty) counter shows we lose about 4km of range each time we go up the short (50m?) hill to our home.

The CVT also requires specialist transmission oil which may not be easily available everywhere.

2.) The rear seats are no capsule base friendly due to the angle of the seat, we had a nightmare of a time trying to get a near top of the line capsule base to fit this car, ended up giving up and fitting it to an older 1997 dual cab Hilux. (not ideal I know)

3.) This one is more about cars of today than the Dualis specifically, but it has a crazy amount of black plastic on the outside of the car, meaning that machine washing won't really cut it and every wash means at least an hour with Armor All or similar product to prevent fading. (our 2013 model still looks a bit tired despite my best care efforts)

4.) Road noise can be a bit of an issue, perhaps this is more my choice of rubber. However this does show the cab isn't very well insulated from road noise.

Other than that it is quite a comfortable car, plenty of leg room even when there is a taller person in the front seat. Quality of interior finish is quite comparable with any other car in the same price bracket and age I have ridden in recently.

All in all, you could do worse but like all things it isn't perfect.

2012 nissan dualis j10 – Nissan would have to be the kings of bringing out one dud after another. And they sell enough of them to keep in business. I bought my J10 Dualis from Alex Mildren Artarmon in 2012. The salesman scratched the side mirror as he drove it out the showroom. I discover a few days later there was a dint in the car just to the right of the petrol tank.… Read more

The station wagon cover lock-overs broke under warranty & I was dumb-founded at the fact that the person I dealt with in hierachy argued until he was blue in the face to get Nissan out of supplying a new one. After telling their service centre at that time, there was a problem with the gearbox, the manager there tells me if there is no fault found, it would be fully chargable. My head goes in the sand. Nissan West Pennant Hills charged me $350 up to 12mths ago to fix the engine mount & and I still have the problem. Then I read this about CVT which might be what the problem is but for Nissan WPH not to be able to be definitive about this issue is VERY VERY poor work.

Nothing but Problematic – Nothing but trouble since purchased. Air con replacesd twice, silver door handle term peels and cut fingers, 3 passender door handle cables snapped at least one (some twice), boot handle snapped off in hand when opening boot, seat release lever broke, boot latch fell out and had to be screwed back in, very noisy and rattles. 2008 Dualis TI review update – I have owned my Dualis TI AWD since new (2008) At this point I have not had any cause for concern regarding the serviceability and reliability of our TI Dualis. The vehicle has done 83,000kms so far and has had no modifications. It gets a regular service (using genuine Nissan gearbox oil, being a CVT) but all other replacement parts have been… Read more

generic including the engine oil and filters. Rotors and pads were replaced at 60,000kms along with the tyres. Replaced standard tyres with Bridgestone 235/60/16 which are wearing much better at this stage of their life than the Bridgestone 215/65/16 originals. In my opinion the Dualis still drives like new but is showing her age with the chrome covering on the internal door release handles peeling and the plastic film covering the console cover and door panels around the door release starting to come away. Overall not bad for a 9 and a 1/2 year old car. Paint work is still OK except on the top of the bumper, below the tailgate, as it gets a bit of a hard time from loading pushbikes in and out of the boot. Leather seats standing up well with no rips, cracks or tears, and all other auxiliaries working as they should. Passengers often comment on how roomy it is in the back. I do miss having climate air and Bluetooth music streaming as they were not standard equipment in this model year but otherwise it is well equipped. We have driven this car on Fraser Island, in the snow in the snowy mountains and it has performed faultlessly. Fuel economy is around 6.9 to 7.5 on the open road and around 9.8 in town. I can highly recommend to anyone thinking of buying this model second hand assuming it has been well looked after.

Comfortable, Economical Diesel – Ours is a 10/2013 1.6L 6 spd manual diesel Dualis, purchased 27Sep21 with 103,400kms on the clock. At last fuel fill-up it had done 986 kms and I managed to squeeze 50 litres into the tank, = 5.071 litres per 100kms; = 1281 kms for its 65 litre tank. It's comfortable and eats up the miles with ease so why didn't I give it 5 stars? Because Nissan… Read more

claim it should average 1,444 kms per 65L tank and even using premium diesel I cannot get anywhere near that, even with mostly country driving where Nissan claims it can achieve 1,660 kms. Hmmm... Update 11/7/22: Added a power chip [via Amazon.com.au cost $193] in October 2021, mainly with a view to increasing economy, which the manufacturer claimed would produce up to 10% improvement...NOT. Maybe 1- 2 % [I have seen it indicate 1,340 kms total on the dash readout for its 65 L tank but have never achieved it. The average (which is mostly with shorter trips) equates to around 1,200 kms per tank]. The chip has added power and lessened the turbo lag. Indeed, when I read in the comments here about the CVT [constantly variable transmission] petrol models' lack of power up hills my little diesel is the opposite. It accelerates with ridiculous ease, even before it hits its maximum torque at 1,750 rpm, behaving almost as if the hill isn't there. Being in my 72nd year I and my wife enjoy the ride height of the Dualis. Very knee joint friendly for seniors, thank you. Recently had travelled 655.5 kms [included 2 Perth airport trips] when I topped the tank up to the brim with 32 litres of diesel. That = 1331.5 km for its 65 litre tank. Still 110 kms off what Nissan claim as an average...

Fantastic mid sized suv – Bought brand new in 2010. Mainly used for daily commuting to and from work, the dog park on weekends and the odd road holiday. Great Car – The only thing that has let me down on this car was the dealership. Bought this car new 2014, Diesel Turbo. Now 165k and only maintenance costs have been battery and tyres. The diesel has more power than the petrol (which I test drove) and runs well around town or country. I'm an hour from Townsville and have towed trailers from Cairns no hassle. Interior still perfect except for door trim. Show details

Great car ! however - clutch replaced at 90,00km – Bought new my 201 Nissan dualis TI FWD manual. Great car, but be warned about the soft clutch. Had to replace after 90,000km. Which cost $3k as you need to buy the entire clutch and flywheel as one unit. Also replaced front rotors after 70,000km but that only cost $100 and is a common issue with the dualis. FWD puts to much stress on the clutch as it's a heavy car. Only caveat is this was a daily driver in Sydney conditions. so lots of stop start. Besides the clutch the car was faultless.

Steer Clear of Nissan... Period! – I'm not going into all the detail but in summary we purchase two new Nissan's in 2013 and had nothing but drama's, in particular our Dualis. purchase a Nissan again and I strongly and I mean strongly urge others to re-consider another car. If you are thinking Nissan's are reliable cars, yes they were back in the day but now are absolute rubbish proven by Nissan by not standing behind their cars.

People don't buy these and save yourself the heartache! we brought these both new and never received the "New Car Experience", all we ended up with was heartache.

Highway champion – Nissan's 1st generation baby crossover the Dualis combines style and performance but not so for reliability.... this compact SUV is a great car for the long endless highway/country driving. control, dual climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, ABS, smooth suspensions, dual CVT transmission, panoramic sunroof, decent boot space and plenty of rooms in the backseat for 2 car seats or 3 adults! the only issues so far.... car doors weren't locking properly upon pressing the keyfob...turns out 2 actuators were faulty and never got detected by the computer system! Radio transmission can be disruptive sometimes. Inner plastic trims are a bit flimsy. City driving averages 11-12L/100km.

The tin foil sheet that’s fitted to the underneath of the car not sure what it’s for but it pings n rattles and drives me mad also. A real surprise packet – My now wife purchased a 2009 manual dualis TI 2wd in early 2010. I have serviced the car myself for the majority of the 8 years she has owned it. The car is a great highway cruiser and eats up small hills on cruise control easily. It commutes around our country town with no problems. The only issues we have had are door handle chrome finish coming… Read more

off and the usual tail gate plastic trim breaking. In 100,000kms of driving, its had one battery, 5 headlight globes, front brake pads and 1 replacement set of tyres ( due for new soon ) and thats about it. Stereo is good but Bluetooth phone connection intermittent. Heated seats are awesome. Car did very well when we hit a big kangaroo at 110kph about 5 years back.

I would say this car does everything well but is no sports car. The MR20 engine has adequate power but won't set any speed records. Manual gearbox has a little bearing noise a slow speeds but nothing serious.

We have traveled to Melbourne and Sydney numerous times and always feel safe, comfortable and relaxed. The leather seats are comfortable and seating position great.

The cruise control works very well with the manual and I very rarely have to shift down to 5th gear on the Hume highway.

I think the 2009 model with the manual is a great combination. I ask my wife if she wants a new car and she says 'No. I'm very happy'.

Probably the worst car I have ever owned – Lacks power Extremely noisy motor Is a long car (mine is the +2 model) and has only four little air conditioning vents right in the front, barely any air goes through to the middle seats let alone the back seats. Thirsty on petrol for the size of the engine The back tail gate handle has broken after 3 years and is hundreds of dollars to replace. Apparently a common problem with the Dualis. don't try to get it there with the wheels. The CVT requires a compete recalibration of how you drive and yes it can sound like a horribly slipping clutch when you give it a bootfull but apply head over heart and realise the transmission is finding exactly the spot on the torque curve your right foot is asking for and learn to use it..such a better city driving experience than a dual clutch 'auto' and makes so much more engineering sense. I wanted to give Nissan a second chance and offered to buy new Nissan Qashqai and give my Nissan as a trade in since I am so not happy with it. I was expecting a good price to keep us as customers and prove that Nissan is a good car after all, at the time the car was 3,5 years old and we were offered $6000. We paid $28,000 for the car. I said it was ridiculous to even offer us this price for the car they sold us. I wasn't going to convince Nissan that Nissan is a good car and probably worth more than $6000.
