drop in a fix it. It is a very easy two-minute fix for someone who is more competent than I am. The response I received was that our purchase is out of warranty and a service call would cost us $160. Unreasonable in our view, the company offers free quotes; is it too much in the circumstances to ask to receive a little good-will service?

your custom order materials, the other 50% COD. The staff will schedule your installation, the installer (usually the same from the consultation visit) will arrive on time, install, and leave you happy. Flawless, from start to finish.

SmartCell needs a bit of consideration.

The quote will mention SmartCell, the Installer will show you a sample to choose a colour. Here are the points to consider:

o No Bull SmartCell is NOT the overall product on SmartCell.com.au; No Bull uses same material but put their own motor and remote (a Moritz, from https://moritz-motors.com). Hence, no multi control, location control, voice control (‘Alexa’), or solar power, etc. as per the mentioned website.

If you want home automation then you need to buy the Moritz POE Ethernet/Wifi Home Automation Bridge. No Bull prices are more competitive than if you buy directly from Moritz, and they install them for you. Buying a 433.92 MHz transmitter will NOT work to control the blinds.

o The remote control has only 3 functions: up, down and stop. You can stop the up/down at any point or let it go all the way to the top or bottom and stop automatically. It’s a bit bulky, but does the job it’s designed to do.

o There is no SmartCell manual over-ride. If the remote stops functioning or the power is cut, the SmartCell is stuck where it is, as it cannot be moved up or down manually (there is no chain). This may never happen, of course, but keep it in mind.

o The SmartCell warranty is 5 years as per website (confirmed by customer service), but not mentioned in the quote (other blinds are). Here is the link to all No Bull warranties: https://nobullblinds.com.au/warranty-information/

o There will be a gap causing light leakage. If you are dreaming about total 100% darkness, it won’t happen. The SmartCell motor tube will be fixed to the window frame top side (gap 1). The actual honeycomb (cellular) blind is free flowing from the middle of the motor tube (there are no side ‘guide rails’ or tracks), hence away from the window frame left and right sides (gaps 2&3), and the bottom ’stabiliser’ tube (to add weight) will hang away from the window frame bottom side (gap 4). However, the material itself (the area of the SmartCell blind) is definitely light-proof (nothing comes thru).

So, accept a 90% darkness environment, or you need to implement a home-made solution to the window frame sides (‘fillers’) to close the gaps for total darkness.

o Heat insulation, the other major advantage of SmartCell, is noticeable but not significant, so do not expect the room to stay totally cool in summer and totally warm in winter, without some other help (open window, fan, heater, AC, etc.). As an experiment, I kept the SmartCell down all afternoon during a hot 30 C summer day, with no open windows, and the room still felt ‘warm’, but cooler than without SmartCell.

o The charger will not reach the top motor tube. The charger cable is 180 cm, so will fall short of the SmartCell top motor tube, and you will need an extension power cable raised high enough so the charger wire plug can reach the motor socket, which is right at the top left hand corner of the tube. And maybe a chair/ladder to get you up there!

o Once installed, the window glass becomes totally see-through; you can see out, others can see in. So, you need to install an organza (sheer) inside curtain to get some privacy, or some other type of roller or curtain or mesh screen. SmartCell offers an on/off setup where it covers the window: either dark or nothing. Obviously, you cannot keep it down (dark) all the time.

o Opening and closing the window may change, as depending on the type of window, you may need to raise the SmartCell all the way to the top. And if you have a window mesh, then that mesh operation may have to change too. So, it’s very specific to your window.

The alternative to SmartCell is a double roller setup, but that is more ‘bulky’, costs more, and not as aesthetically pleasing as the SmartCell, which looks modern and hi-tech.

Hope you find tis useful in planning and/or discussing your SmartCell options with the installer. In conclusion, it’s worth it, just be mindful of the points above.

Bad design and installation – The design and installation is terrible. Rods too short to control opening and closing of the Venetian blind. The fitting to the window keeps touching the side of the window frame each time I lift and draw down the Venetian blind. i dealt with on the phone and your install staff. This instance has been a very poor experience and being told that my email was not seen because it was the weekend is a load of nonsense as i sent my email on Thursday and was getting constant replies prior to that every 30 mins. Poor form.

19/12/21: Ive spent $7k on blinds and blind motors with No Bull. I wanted to get more motors for my upstairs but the lady im dealing at the moment at No Bull is charging me $20 more per motor even though ive already purchased at $240 per motor. This is an extra $120, not going to break the bank, but $120 is $120. I was really happy with No Bull prior to this experience, but will take my sheers ($4500) and motor purchase elsewhere. So disappointed.
