Visited Noels
Visited Noels on Tuesday with intention of buying a brand new caravan. Approached by a woman who said she was Noel's daughter. Started very nice but became condescending and talked herself out of a sale. Don't like the way they do business.

average build for the price
Take a closer look underneath and see pretty average build for the price
Dealer didn't seem to like feedback and then ignored me plenty of other dealer out there
Take your business elsewhere

Complete Lemons, with Timber Frames
I bought a 2004 Island Star Prestige, made the deal and brought it home. I could smell mildew in one of the Cupboards, so I decided to bleach and clean the entire Cupboards, cabinets and wardrobe. That's when I noticed all the inside panels under the dinnette were water damaged, when I tore the internal paneling off, I noticed the frame was rotten. (See Pics). You could get a handful of it, squeeze it, and all the moisture would drip out. Same deal with the front (inside the closet), and sides,(in the kitchenette). To my horror, a caravan repai...Read more
rer looked at it, and told me all the bottom rails were rotted, and would cost $3000 per side to have professionally repair. ($6k total, and the van is only worth 10k). So it's a write-off, and only 16 years old. Water had been leaking out of sight for a period of years. I feel sorry for anyone buying a new Island Star, get rid of it after 2 years, or you'll have a lemon that you won't be able Sell, plus it's not going to hold its value like aluminum framed vans do. Timber frame caravans are 1930's technology. Why would you still use it in the new mellenium? The fact is, all vans leak, but it's not as much of an issue an issue if the frame is aluminum. The scarey thing is, it looked like the "perfect van", but it's only when you dig deeper you realize it's a horror show. If you look at the last 4 or 5 pics, you could see how I got duped. From the outside it looked awesome, and even the inside, (If you don't know what to look for). I noticed a guy in one of the caravan forums having the same issue with a brand new Island Star. He was so peed off that he removed the Island Star logo so he wasn't offering that brand free advertising. Look before you leap, consider a manufacturer who builds with alloys, or get a professional to go over it with a fine tooth combSimilar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Our New Island Star
My wife and I are looking forward to leading a more relaxed lifestyle in our Caravan full time and as such we are entertaining the fact of changing to a more suitable Caravan.
After having a look at Noels Caravans online we found a very nice Island Star Getaway Caravan and had to make further enquiries.
Naomi has been nothing short of Sensational, her enthusiasm, knowledge and attention to detail is the best and after having a personal tour of the Getaway we were sold.
If you are looking for a Caravan then I don't think you can find better Quality or service, do yourself a favor and call in to Noels to see how it should be done.

We love our Island Star Getaway van!
As we had looked to upgrade for a long time, we knew exactly what we wanted (this is our 3rd van). The team at Noel's were fantastic, patient and very informative. We never felt pressured and that's what we loved. They could not do enough for us right through to having some minor adjustments made following pickup, nothing was too much trouble. It certainly is a beautiful caravan. Would recommend Noels as they deliver a high quality service and professionalism.

Great Van, great people, great value.
We looked at every van on the market, Noel' IslandStar Extreme was the best van we could find that suited our needs, and ... at the best value and the best service ! We were able to have the van built exactly as we wanted, no hassle. And ... everything just works !! (as promised) and ... the van park at Blanchetown is a cracker ! Thanks Locky and Mandy !

Truely impressed
Fantastic and easy to do business with. Exceptional advice made sure we had everything we needed and didn't look to add to price. Great after sales service, go the extra mile.

Biggest disappointment of our lives,
This is our 3rd van. Waste it time spent ordering and waste of $61000. Faults-doors, cupboard, pelment, fridge, water inlet.locks, screen door. Floors all scratched, large dent in laminex. Sub standard fixtures.Buyer beware Very uncomfortable. Very disappointed and angry thinking we where getting our dream van. After sales service leaves a lot to be desired. Unfortunately we are stuck with complete lemon. Hate it.

Be wary - All is good until you take delivery
Had several water leaks during warranty. Supposedly fixed. Just patched so when warranty is finished no responsibility taken. Cost me $1,100 to get the job done right. No leaks now. Noel's even glued a section of wall in the cupboard over the water damaged wall. Still kept leaking until it was visible on the second sheet.
Instead of repairing the ceiling they placed a round plastic vent over the damaged ceiling. Same again leak continued until the damage was bigger than the plastic vent. Totally incompetent maintenance staff at Noel's or just ...Read more

A quality, feature packed van, and value for money!
Looked extensively for what we wanted, even interstate. Noel's Caravans (Sth Aust) could not have been more helpful (thanks Vince and Naomi). Even though the Getaway features just about everything, we were able to include some additional extras at nominal cost. A really good quality van at a great price. We love our Getaway and recommend Island Star without hesitation.

Questions & Answers
Gayle M.asked
What is the internal height of the current Island Star Getaway and Extreme?
1 answer
Don't know and don't really care. Went to noel's to buy a brand new caravan and a woman claiming to be noel's daughter was quite rude to us so we simply walked out and purchased a brand new van elsewhere. No We do not like the way they do business. If you are looking to buy I strongly recommend you go elsewhere.

Why do Island Star still use Timber frames? Isn't it prone to rotting? It's ancient technology, isn't it?

Hi there David C, sounds like you might have an issue of some sort with Island Star Caravans, I am only a consumer and rated our Lovely Caravan accordingly.
To suggest that a modern Caravan is made with Timber Frames is Idiotic and far from the truth, why would you make such Statement?
I would suggest that you do some research on the range of Caravans available on the market, compare them, use them, enjoy them and then make an assessment and people might then value your comments. ???
Contact Noels Island Stars, they are made of timber, I have an email to prove it. They are "pleased" to confirm that their vans are constructed using Timber frames. Too bad, that's a really nice rig you bought, I bet it cost a fortune. Timber frame vans don't hold their value, which you are about to find out. You should have got a Jayco, they are cheaper and have frames that will last for a hundred years. (and truly hold their value).
"Suggest I do research"? You should have taken your own advice before you purchased something that will be a lemon in 8 years

Grand Gm factory in Campbellfield Victoria.
Hi Tom, I believe Noels Caravans are made in Victoria (as stated by Mishie) and constructed very well
Hi Tom, don't listen to Anton, They are not constructed very well at all, they are cheap Timber framed vans which have a track record of leaking through to the frame and rotting them. The timber they use isn't even treated. Buy a "known brand" with a modern aluminum frame. Island Star vans look awesome, but that's where it ends. They are fitted out with cheap, substandard fixtures and fittings, and the company should be ashamed of themselves.
