Nylex Automatic Hose Reel 30m

More fool me, after writing a scathing report about the Nxlex Automatoc Hose Reel. I bought another pair. I reasoned that it was from Nylex, and the original 2 failures were an anomaly, but I was wrong. After another 18 months, one of my new ones has failed, with the same problem; it is leaking from within the unit.

One star is one star too many. An absolute waste of money. Shocking pressure only to find cracked connections inside. Purchased about 4 years ago so would now be out of warranty. Horrible product. Show details

Don't buy this – This product is rubbish. Didn't rewind properly from first day. When I returned it they said it is cheap so feeling like what do you expect. wouldn't recommend to anybody. Show details

Won't be going back for more – When it worked it was good, but started to develop an internal leak about a year ago that came and went then recently gave way completely. barely 3-4 years old. - Update* I pulled it apart as contacting Nylex was useless and unit now a paperweight. As with so many others, the plastic internal connection had broken clean off as I suspected.

Nylex 25m retractable hose reel – Had my 25m unit for 1 year and 11 months. The rewind spring just let go and now won't retract. Will return it to bunnings and hopefully get a refund. Will not buy a nylex one tho. Show details

Nylex hose not replaceable in Nylex hose reel – Hose reel works well but hose quality is poor and becomes stiff and breaks eventually as happened in both my reels. Unlike some competitors, the hose cannot be replaced by the owner which means that the unit must be discarded.

Stopped retracting – This product only lasted about 22 months as It stopped retracting. I bought my 1 year old house from previous owner only 10 months ago. I don’t have a receipt for it to be covered under warranty. I have contacted the customer support team and went through the troubleshooting with no luck and there was nothing further he could do except tell me to buy a new one. I know for sure I won’t be buying a another Nylex

Used once and wouldn’t retract - Rubbish – I brought this 3 years ago . It sat in the back yard uninstalled and never used. My wife got excited when I installed it. I pulled the hose out to water, and when I finished, the hose wouldn’t retract. So effective for one use only. Do not waste your money on this product. 5 years ago brought the cheapest retractable hose at Bunnings and still going strong. Show details

Nylex 30m Retractable Hose – Terrible. Lasted just over 2 years and stopped retracting. Bought at Bunnings and out of warranty. After posting my review, the customer service team at Nylex were fantastic and dealt with the issue promptly and fairly. Thank you.

Hose perishes immediately! – Sadly the hose cracks and leaks very soon after use, I've had ours for approximately a year and I have had to duct tape several leaks in the hose, the connector to the end of the hose I have had to trim and reconnect many times, my wife and I have been drenched a lot, back to the drawing board Show details

Rubbish don’t waste your money – Agree with other reviews, I had mine for just over a year bought it a Bunnings and whilst it wasn’t great from the get go, at least it would operate in a semi efficient manner. Now I’m about to throw away in the rubbish where it belongs as it’s wound up in a tangle mess inside and virtually impossible to fix now. Disappointing – Purchased one of these from my local bunnings store on completion of our front garden renovation about 18 months ago. Today it stopped working and will not lock the desired length of hose out., Have had to resort to pinning the hose to the grass to lock it in place. To say that i am disappointed is an understatement! in hind sight i should have brought a more reputable brand (ie Hose link). I will not recommend this product. Show details

Rubbish – This is trash, restricts water flow to almost a dribble. Straight from the tap I can fill my square bucket in 30 secs and with a standard hose I can fill the bucket in 38 seconds, however with the 25m Nylex retractable reel time to fill the same bucket is 1 minute and 48 seconds, hose diameter is too small, fitting sizes are too small, I’m not… Read more

sure if all retractable reels are this bad but it’s back to Bunnings with this one. I’ll be thinking twice before purchasing any Nylex products in future. Don’t waste your money.

Nylex it would be a good idea to make ALL your wall mount hose reels with the same size mount – I cannot believe my old Nylex auto hose reel lasted 3 years before leaking so badly I had to replace it, the new 30 metre auto hose reel has a different sized wall mount. Surely it would cost you less to manufacture every wall mount hose reel with the same sized wall bracket I now have 4 unusable holes in my nice brick wall as the new bracket is… Read more

smaller and the mounting is not interchangeable. Here is a little history lesson one of the reasons the allies won WW2 was because jeep and truck parts were interchangeable, manufacturers must take that lesson to be successful in these modern competitive times.

Completely stuck! – I purchased the Nylex Hosereel from Bunnings less than two years ago but am unable to find the receipt. The reel is stuck half way out and will neither retract nor extend. which I can appreciate. But when I asked if the receipt was found would it be covered by warranty I was asked how it came to be stuck. I could not tell him as our gardener had likely been using the hose. The conversation then deteriorated from there. I was then told unless I could tell him how it got stuck then there would be no replacement. I stated that my gardener could tell me to which he then replied that I could not confirm this as I wasn’t there. Absolutely at my wits end I gave up. I will never purchase a Nylex product again. It’s not so much the product but the totally impersonal, unsympathetic way their representative spoke to me! Pedantic, unhelpful and without any sympathy whatsoever.

Bad hose quality and can't replace it – Poor quality hose fell apart after 2 years. Bought a new reel from Bunnings, then discovered the wall fitting cannot mount on the same holes, and its smaller so it doesn't even cover the old holes! Luckily Bunnings know about customer service and accepted it back for a full refund. Then tried to replace just the hose. but Nylex told me that I can't replace the hose. Changing brand for this and will avoid Nylex in future. Show details

Poor Design, and a waste of money – Think long and hard before buying this and do your own research, we have had nothing but problems with ours, won't retract without help most of the time, what's the point of a retractable hose when it doesn't retract? In my opinion it's expensive junk, that now has left us with 4 holes in our brickwork and bad memories. Show details

nasty hose never worked properly – Bought this 20 m hose from Bunnings and it had no pressure, finally got my husband to inspect the hose inside the casing and it had cracks and bends that were preventing the water coming through properly. It was an expensive hose and I am so disappointed with this purchase! Show details

Poor quality hose that cant be replaced – Retractable reel is fully operational but hose has cracked and broken in multiple places. Only has 2 year guarantee on hose (which is very poor) when some other brands have 7 years or more. No point paying for this unit, either get a cheap one or a brand with better hose as this is unusable after about 2 -3 years. Show details

Good - until it broke – Looks like a robust, well built unit and worked fine for 12 months until the internal hose connection broke clean off - probably a $2 part has rendered a $200 hose useless. Really unimpressed. Show details

Has worked well until hose guide belt broke! – Has worked really well for us however approx 1 1/2years after buying it has broken the belt that guides the hose onto the reel (it feeds the hose in moving side to side as it rolls in) This makes it useless. Broken bracket – The bracket has perished and finally broker. It is out of warranty but can I purchase a new bracket to fit as the hose reel still works well? The existing bracket doesn’t appear to be able to hold the weight. Show details
