Seriously, do yourself a favour and give them a call! Buying a new home is always going to present a few challenges so when I bought a little acreage and the building inspection report said there was no problem with the septic I believed it! Imagine the turmoil when a few weeks after moving in, it overflowed and the pump out guy identified dodgy… Read more
repairs and the whole system was stuffed!... Learning what was now required (by law) was like taking a sip of water from a fire hydrant. So many attempts to different companies were a mixture of no response, rude reception, patronising attitudes, baggin out other systems or the quotes, from those that were actually bothered to give one, were simply too expensive. It was very frustrating!!!
That was until I met with Tristan from Ozzi Kleen. Not only did he treat me with respect, he also worked with me and council to install a system that allowed for potential future plans like adding a toilet to my shed.
My situation was quite challenging. My house is towards the top of my block. The block slopes approx 45 degrees down to the shed approx 30mtrs away from the house. The septic was on the back side of the house, under the veranda, there was a lot of vegetation.
Not only did Ozzi Kleen problem solve my issue they also came in the cheapest at around $21k (the other quotes were above $25k but didn't include a few things covered by Ozzi Kleen).
Tristan (sales/problem solver) Gav (plumber) and Ross (digger operator) were absolutely wonderful and I'm wrapt!!!
If you need one, give Tristan a call on 1800 450 767
#obviously its early days since installation but I'm happy to keep updating over time to share how it's working out :)
RP 10a+ – Super service, install and great environmental product for our bushland garden Show reply
Great product – I’ve installed many Ozzi Kleen systems over a 10 year period. The sales team are great to deal with, locally made and manufactured on the Sunshine Coast. Product is made to a high standard and heavy duty components (pumps etc) Never had an issue with the Ozzi Kleen RP10A treatment plants or pump stations. Easy install. Show reply
Time and install – The team from the office especially Sue took the time and effort to keep in touch throughout the process and highlight the fact that the council permit had expired . Of course we actioned this with council and had the permit reinstated. On the day of the installation Tom (plumber) Gave me a rundown of the process and answered every question I put… Read more · 1
to him . The installation went smoothly and was completed in a timely manner I am very happy with the whole process from the sales to the installation. Thanks team Warren Groves
Overall great system and awesome service from the Ozzikleen team – From quote through to installation and commissioning the Ozzikleen team here on the Sunshine Coast at Suncoast Waste Water Management were a breeze to deal with. They answered questions quickly, they got the job done on time, actually bought it forward by a week which was great for us, nothing was a problem for them, friendly helpful staff at every step of the way. Thank you, you made that part of our build so easy. Show reply

I had issue after issue and every Plumber I called said they wouldn’t touch Ozzi Kleen. The service agent Lapinskas Holdings trading as Waster Managers quoted, pulled it apart and demanded more$. I wouldn’t recommend for NSW area.
Follow-up · LAPINSKAS Holdings / Waste Managers were the problem. In QLD where the system is from, the service agents would probably be better.

Lots of problems – Nothing but problems since we installed the OZ water treatment plant 12 years ago. Suspect the underground pipe system has blocked up due to crappy installation by local plumber so have had to put in an above ground sprinkler system for the waste water. Had lots of problems especially with blockages/high water issues till the service guy did some… Read more
fixes and bypasses eg original sock filter was too small, etc. And yes, this system was correctly specced for our house.
Hardly anyone accredited to service it in Victoria and the company won't let anyone else touch it - our closest service guy is 100km away and he leaves a mess when he does the service (just throws the gunk from the filters into the garden, gross) but who's going to complain when there's no-one else to do the job? Feeling extremely frustrated as the pump seems to have failed at the start of a 3 day weekend and our chances of getting someone out to look at it are about zero.
It's also super ugly! If you get one, put it somewhere inconspicuous or build a fence around it.
Context for this review is that we had a septic system at our previous property and in nearly 10 years had NOT ONE issue. Can't wait for town sewerage.
Edit in 2026: we later realised that we were also having problems because the sock filters were above ground and would freeze in winter. They've been removed by the service guy. So the system is definitely not suited to cold areas. The underground pipes also don't work, not sure if that was faulty install, but we now have to have hoses and sprinklers dispersing the treated water on our lawn. If we unplug the hoses for longer than a day (eg to dry out the lawn so we can mow), the system hits a high water state and the alarm goes off. Also recently we've noticed that when this happens, the high water float gets stuck and sets off the alarm (inside the house, at all hours of the day or night), and we have to try and dislodge it without being able to see the float, and without damaging anything in the system. Or wait till the service guy can do a 4 hour round trip. Unfortunately we are stuck with it because we will never get town sewerage. I would love to dig it up and replace it.

This is literally a mini version of a large council owned sewage treatment plant – I built a house on Russell Island in 2012 and after reviewing all the other systems available at the time I installed an Ozzi Kleen. I note the fact that some people here have posted that they're unhappy with the system. I think for the majority of problems posted here it may be attributed to improper use, incorrect maintenance and possibly the… Read more · 1
use of service techs who may not be great or who do not communicate properly with the home owners.
My first issue with the unit was about 6 years in. I had to have the submersible pump replaced but that was due to fusion and nothing to do with the OzziKleen unit itself. Apparently the pumps can last anywhere from 5 to 10 years.
The reason I have had no issues is that the service agent over here (Craig Patterson from Patteck Pty Ltd) has been excellent and very proactive. Always on time with the quarterly services, very reasonable prices for the services and excellent communication. If Craig found any issues with the unit it was communicated to me both on the service report plus verbally. If he found anything wrong (such as things put in the system that shouldn't be put in the system) he told me straight away. I remember once I was told there were lolly wrappers in the system so I was able to communicate to the tenants that this was a no no.
I've had high water alarms and alarms go off at inconvenient times. All alarms were due to issues not related to the OzziKleen itself and I recall Craig going out to check for my tenant (my elderly mother) after hours and on a public holiday for an alarm and sorting it out even when it was not a fault with the unit and not charging her at all. That is amazing customer service and shows what a lovely human being he is :)
As you only ever get people complaining about something on these forums I thought I would comment that I am extremely happy with my OzziKleen sewage treatment plant and with the service agent over here.
I'm sure that if you have a genuine gripe with the unit that has not been caused by incorrect use of the unit that Ozzi Kleen and/or your service agent will be helpful and bend over backwards to help you :)
I have now sold my home and it settles on the 4th of December 2023.
11 years on the system is like new and still going strong. I would highly recommend OzziKleen and Craig Patterson. If you have a genuine problem with the unit and I can see from the replies to the complaint posts they will bend over backwards to help, and help train you on the proper use and maintenance of the unit.
Learn how your system works & manage input to get best results – Our RP10 system is over 14 years old & we inherited it when we purchased our place 8 years ago. We had quite a bit of trouble with the system initially as we had no experience with a home waste water system. We had to change soaps, washing powders & really managed any potential oil, grease or food stuffs going down the sink. Due to the service &… Read more
call out costs I got heavily invested in how the system operates as well as having some great advice from the service guys at Suncoast.
We recently built a commercial kitchen on-site & I added a 60L grease trap to protect the system from additional input.
We upgraded the computer & also upgraded the decanter head (major improvement - would recommend new 3 opening decanter head). These upgrades pretty much eliminated problems that would lead to high water.
Since the upgrades 18 months ago the system is working perfectly & we have full confidence with it.
The yearly cost to service it now is only marginally more expensive than what we paid in council rates for wastewater service on our old property.
What’s also great is utilising the home gray water for the lawns particularly when it’s gets dry at home.
Overall a great waste water system once you know how to get the best results from it.

Paul of Ozzie Kleen always arrives on the date advised, is friendly, and completes the system service in a timely and polite manner. Always a pleasure to catch up with Paul when onsite.
Our system was setting off the alarm and Ozi Kleen were quick to respond the very next day. Paul was so professional and friendly. We have had Ozi Kleen service our system for over 10years and they have never ever let us down. So happy with the results especially the reliability with having a small family. Thank you Paul. Thank you Ozi Kleen. We have recommended this company to everyone!

This system was the WORST decision we ever made to put it in, it has given us nothing but grief and trouble and revolting mess. Recommended by our council, mind boggles! Whilst I am happy with the Ozzi Kleen system the same can't be said about one of their service agents Nicolaus Traube of Statewide Wastewater Management, Mt Martha. Not only did he use inferior parts, he left the wiring to the alarm panel disconnected and marked up the cost of the parts in excess of $450 for his own greedy personal gain. Be warned, DO NOT use this dishonest service agent.

We have had the RP10 for about two years. We have had nothing but continuous problems. Constant alarms, blocked filter sock, high water level. Having purchased a rural property within the last 12 months, we were new to the whole sewerage waste management process. Ozzi Kleen make it so clear & simple with all their communication, contract and booking system. Thumbs up to Eddie who has gone above and beyond to explain how things work & help us as we navigate through all there is to learn. A 10/10 service. Kim & Shaun
I had a high water warning and contacted Ozzi Kleen for help. I was put through to Eddie who stepped me through how to fix the issue. The service he gave me was amazing. time after all the sales cr#p which is not necessary (I already own one!) the call dropped out! Not impressed!
Follow-up · The follow-up after the Easter weekend was great. The local Ozzy Kleen agent sent a service person to fix the fault and the Service Manager followed the following day to check on everything. The Service Manager is looking into having someone on-call 24/7. The 24/7 line at Ozzy Kleen Head Office in QLD that didn't answer on several occasions on the weekend was found to be not working as it should. They were appreciative of the feedback.

Constant blockages due to poor design – We inherited this system and its been a nightmare. Every service technician we've had come out to us has said they have issues with the Ozzie Kleen systems. My particular model has a very small diameter pipe that gets blocked easily. We are now looking at putting in a new system. It's interesting that many of the 5 star reviews here are first time reviewers.

Emotionally worn down by this system – We inherited the system from the previous occupants of our house 14 months ago. We have spent thousands upon thousands trying to rectify problems. Failing computers, failing decanters, sock filters breaking off, toilets blocking up, reticulation system blocking up resulting in dead grass on our garden. Overflow alarms not going off. stops. And now today I discovered that the sludge tank is overflowing and it’s actually burst open the lid on the system. We are utterly emotionally and financially drained by the system. It has given us nothing but misery and we’ve been using approved maintenance engineers the first company we dropped because we didn’t have confidence in their level of training and the second company who have been a lot more dynamic and helpful, but they still haven’t been able to resolve the system problems.

Don't be talked into it – We live in the Adelaide Hills and were talked into installing an Ozzi Kleen system by the builder and plumber and it’s a decision that we have always regretted. All aerated septic systems need to be inspected four times a year in South Australia. Rather than forking out money to the local plumbers, I chose to do a three-day course on maintaining… Read more
an aerated septic treatment system at TAFE. Once completed, owners can inspect and maintain their own systems and submit reports to Council. While some of the people in the class were home-owners like me, many were also experienced technicians, who just needed the qualification. When I asked these experienced people about Ozzi Kleen systems, not one of them would recommend an Ozzi Kleen. While most septics systems use a number of chambers to process anaerobic and aerobic waste, the Ozzi Kleen uses a ‘batch process’ to process all waste in a single aerobic chamber. In order to achieve this, the Ozzi Kleen uses a number of complex mechanisms that are prone to failure. The first is the decanter box, which allows clear water from the top of the aerobic chamber to pass through to the pump-out chamber. The decanter box has small holes in it to allow the water to pass through and these are prone to fouling. This fouling will cause the system to back up and the high-water alarm to activate. Ozzi Kleen know this is a problem, but cannot fix it. They will tell owners that it’s caused by something that you have put down the drain (fat, antibiotics – you name it). This is not correct. A well designed system should be able to cope with the waste produced by a normal household. The second issue is the control box, which controls the timing of all the functions. Because the Ozzi Kleen uses a batch process, there are multiple solenoid valves, hoses and controllers, all of which are prone to failure.
There are much better aerobic systems out there, which produce clean water at the end and are much less trouble prone. In general, these systems use a system of chambers where waste flows naturally between them. Example brands include Fuji, Envirocycle and Aqua Nova. It’s possible that these brands might be more expensive to install – but believe me, you won’t regret it. The Ozzi Kleen is overly complex, prone to failure and expensive to maintain. It’s interesting that Ozzi Kleen is the only manufacturer that I am aware of that requires one of their own accredited technicians to carry out work in the first year to maintain the warranty.
If I could, I would remove the Ozzi Kleen and replace it with something that works. Finally, I would be sceptical of the positive reviews you see on this site. They give the impression of being written by the same person.
I hope this long review helps people in their decision and makes them question their plumber/builder. There are examples where the plumber who installs the system also gets to maintain them. Good for business!
