Drippy Panasonic – Installed last year, found wifi connection to be a real plus and wifi works so much better than our Mitsubishi ac wifi does.( it disconnects often). The Panasonic has a remote and can be set down to 16 degrees (whether this is a gimmick or not I’m not sure but we like it) . We have 4 Mitsubishi splits to compare with in our house and the Panasonic operates the best. It cools immediately, is not to noisey on high and this 7kw unit does large area very well. The nanio technology I find is a nonsense and makes using the remote confusing the phone app is easier to use. This unit leaked water down the wall quite a bit on humid days and to fix it was a tedious job as problem was only solved by removing cover and running on humid days. The condensation was running and dripping from an earth wire inside the unit then just missing the water tray and running out bottom of unit. Also on the other side of the tray, water was dripping outside of the tray. The fix was quite easy with some bitumen tape simple allowing the drips to drip onto the tape down into the tray . Drips were a bit close to wiring and could have caused an electrical short. It’s a design fault with the unit so doing this review so others know ( might save a house fire) Also about to purchase another 3 units for bedroom s and wondering if the 3.5 kw units have same problem. Would appreciate anyone’s reviews on these.

Hi Harry, just wanted to reassure you that they are not experiencing the same issue. Also, please keep in mind that the problem with your larger unit was due to a manufacturing fault. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

Strange comment. So are you not the manufacturer. What rectifications did Panasonic make to their 7kw unit?

No dehumidify capacity and no customer service from Panasonic – We purchased this air conditioner this year based on the specifications provided here that it will dehumidify 1.5L/hour. https://www.panasonic.com/nz/hvac/air-conditioning/residential/single-room-air-conditioning/aero-xkr-highwall-air-conditioner-v2/cs-cu-z25xkr-1.specs.html We have contacted Panasonic to advise when air humidity is >90% no water drips out the external unit house when we run it on dry setting. We asked what setting this dehumidify spec is based on to confirm that choosing the dry setting is correct. I was supplied case number 543644 from Panasonic and then received a generic response that it's based on weather and humidity and this is the maximum moisture removal. They will not tell me what setting I should use and will not send somebody out to confirm it is working correctly, instead they gave me a number of their representative company who are 40 minutes away for me to arrange an inspection and if they find it to be operating correctly we will be charged a fee. If Panasonic cannot give me a detailed answer on what setting I need to run the aircon to achieve their dehumidify specification, I am sure this representative is going to tell me it is running to specifications and charge me for the callout fee. We also chose this nano-x technology as it claims to remove 99.5% of mould and yet we still have mould in our house after running it on nano-x dry function. I cannot believe the lack of customer service from Panasonic. I recommend avoiding this product.

Quiet and economical to use – Both the indoor unit and outdoor compressor are very quiet. They’re easy to operate via either the remote control or inbuilt wifi, once you download the app to your phone. Economical to operate, for both heating and cooling. The nanoe-x filtration should be very useful on high pollution or high hayfever days. It’s great to get off gas heating, and have an air-con alternative for our evap cooler on high humidity days.

Purchased in for $1,300.

Avoid at all cost – I purchased this unit for the size as we have other units on our property. After reading a Choice review stating 'whisper quiet' operation I thought it would be perfect for our Sanctuary Rescue Centre. OH boy was I wrong, the noise from this unit is unacceptable, sleeping with this unit running would be impossible, if you have close by neighbours, forget it, the outdoor unit can be heard at our main house over 35 metres away! The installer commented after installation how noisy the outdoor unit was and I seriously believed from the noise that the unit had to be damaged or faulty. A service technician from Panasonic has since attended and said it was operating within normal parameters which I don't believe as none of my other units sound anything like this one! This particular unit is NOTHING like any online descriptions and will be unusable due to the noise, so with the unit and installation costs I basically have a $2500 garden ornament.

Hi Jodie, can you please provide your contact details via PM please.

Provided details as requested above, still no one contacted me from Panasonic, I gave up trying to deal with them after 8 months of getting the run around and contacted Betta Electrical directly. They were absolutely brilliant!! They removed the unit, refunded the purchase price and paid compensation for installation costs, I can not speak highly enough of Betta Electrical, Rosny Park, Tasmania. The after sales service from Panasonic is appalling. I would NEVER purchase anything again from or recommend Panasonic!!
