camera hasn't arrived – we purchased and paid for a camera 11 days ago for my 14 year old daughters birthday- still hasn't arrived. We are worried as Paxtons are not responding to our calls, emails or live chat. Help please

Example of bad customer service – Paxton's no refund policy is ridiculous. I didn't open the product and had the receipt. I will definitely not buy anything from them again!!!

Order completed and then after a few days they said its out of stock – My wife bought a camera that is on sale, they said we have to pick up on a later date. After waiting for it and went to the store, they said it is out of stock. What a waste of time and it is deceiving its customers. What a shame.

Paxtons is misleading customer with wrong prices! – I bought a camera with Paxtons Online-Shop a week ago and didn’t receive the product yet. After 3 days I started chasing the company as I didn’t receive any update on my order. They informed me (only after I chased) that something was wrong with there website and the advertised product & price. They are refusing to sell me the camera for the… Read more

advertised price, but didn’t hesitate to take the money of my credit card!

Now, one-week after my purchase they still have my money, wont give me the product I ordered. Instead they made me the offer to purchase the product for 200$ above the price they advertised and even more expensive then they are advertising it (correctly) at the moment.

Please be careful with this company and your online purchase. I now have to travel to the Great Barrier Reef without my new camera.

I informed the ACCC about the case and I hope they can’t foul other customers with misleading pricing in the future.

If you are looking for a positive purchase experience try someone else, I won’t recommend Paxtons at all and will not use them at any point in the future again.

Brilliant advice and the best price for real Canon Australia products: brilliant! – I asked Geoff and a another online advisor an endless stream of questions about Canon DSLR 70D and 750D bodies, and received very sound advice. Paxtons are in a tough business, competing against unfair practices of the online importers in the grey market and supermarkets. I'd sound annoyed, but they show remarkable professionalism. They have still come in with a price almost $200 cheaper than the camera shop on the Central Coast.

Prompt and Professional Service – I recently purchased a Sigma AF 18-35mm F1.8 lens online from Paxtons. The price was competitive and the prompt and professional service was exemplary. I received a phone call on despatch and the goods were sent by registered post.

Good and prompt – Ordered a compact camera for delivery to Queensland. The price was better than everywhere else and shipping was quite reasonable. After placing the order, received a call the next day confirming, then it was immediately shipped and arrived only a couple of days later. Had a very good experience with this store and the product is genuine and works well.

Great customer service – Do not believe the bad reviews on here for Paxtons. Instead, go and have a chat with Joe who spent the right amount of time explaining the camera to me. Also matched the price I was given up the road. Would definately visit these guys again.

Good service - and you can negotiate – I'd rung around for the best price and ordered from "Dirt Cheap Cameras". They promised dispatch within 24 hours. But they broke that promise and when we enquired they admitted they had none in stock (did I want the older model instead?). Since we were going away that week I rang Paxton's Chatswood. They wouldn't match the price but agreed to… Read more

meet halfway between list and Dirt Cheap. I was happy with that we were talking less than $20 difference (I couldn't get into the city to pick up from DCC so there would have been a freight charge). The next day I went to pick the camera up and the assistant I had spoken to, [name removed], couldn't have done more to help. If I have to find fault it would be only that he was a little too helpful as it took rather a long time as he wanted to show me everything about the camera. And it was the same for the lady he was serving ahead of me: he was both knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

Totally agree. Rude – Manager of Hornsby store was first of all ignoring me. (1 other customer in store being served by other staff member) He turned away as I entered store right next to him, then walked out back to unpack box. Then when asked about an 800 dollar camera just grunted and pointed. Then when asked to price match by lowering 50 dollars said grumpily 'Oh… Read more

that's less than cost.' So I walked away and bought it for price match at camera house hornsby. Helpful and friendly. And they made $750 from me.

Poor service. Rude and snobby staff treating customers with disdain – Paxtons Parramatta Westfield. Buying a smaller item the staff look at you with obvious disdain. Making you wait while they finish a long conversation among themselves. Passport photo service also very poor, takes one rushed sloppy photo and that's that. Even though it’s digital they don’t take a few and let you choose like the better places. Rude staff, poor quality service, bad passport photos.

Poor service – I have walked into Paxtons in George Street Sydney twice in the last 12 months and each time have walked out without buying anything. I have then purchased the cameras and equipment I was after from another store. Why did I walk out? Mainly because the service was appalling. Last time I was making enquiries for a good quality scanner. The shop… Read more

assistant, after I found one, basically pointed them out to me then walked off. I had another question to ask and had to chase him up and to say he was unhelpful is an understatement - basically he couldn't care less. This shop is an unfriendly environment and the staff seem to only want to talk to each other. Will never go back, no matter what "specials" they offer.

Poor service. Having to walk down many stairs to get into the shop is a negative buying experience.

Bad attitude – Went into Paxton's store on George St in Sydney CBD to ask about a camera I have intention to buy. I know the price is cheaper online but had hoped to support the local, independent store. When I asked the price, it was $200 more than Kogan, online, which I mentioned to my partner, then immediately followed a retort by the employee about Kogan's… Read more

repair policy, regarding sending it overseas if there was a camera issue. I don't mind if I have to send a camera overseas to be repaired if there is an issue as I don't use the camera everyday. I understand it must be frustrating to have people coming into a store and continually mentioning better online pricing, but there is subtlety in negotiation and ways to engage a willing consumer, not just brush them off. The response to the Kogan price was snapped back rudely by the employee, then the employee walked away and left me standing in the shop floor as he busied himself with other work, leaving me ignored. Appalling customer service and no willingness to interact or cajole a sale. The entire interaction was about twenty seconds. Good luck with your bricks and mortar stores, Paxtons.

Appalling customer service

Bad product – I bought a blower from Paxtons...it blew out chunks of dried glue. They should know better. And their cameras and lenses are very expensive...much cheaper to buy stuff from anywhere IMHO. Paxtons, why do you charge so much? And I would have to agree that their attitude is arrogant, especially the girl in the Chatswood store.

Condescending service – Went in the other weekend as I am looking to spend quite a bit of money on a digital SLR. Whilst I was served within a reasonable time-frame, the service was not good. The main reason for me trying this store rather than the larger chains was to get a personal service by a specialist company. What I got instead was condescension, & superiority.… Read more

When I asked to hold a camera (you need to be able to feel it in your hand). the first thing I was told, not asked, was "don't break it". Really??? I walked out and went to another store ( a large chain I was avoiding) and got terrific service but that is for another review Range Service doesn't match the specialist store they portray; Condescending staff

OK – Paxtons are probably one of the better photo developers that are readily available. They're not the cheapest for photos but they print using Kodak paper and chemical so always do a great job. But some stores are better than others. They have good service and a wide variety of photographic equipment, photo albums and frames. Probably wouldn't buy a… Read more

camera from there but definitely would go there if I'm looking for good quality prints. Great service. They probably do the best photo development. Good range of camera equipment. Lots of stores. Prices are not the cheapest for pohtographic equipment but can find some bargains.

Canon Deals – I wanted a Canon body and Paxtons & Ryda were the cheapest by far of the proper importers. Paxtons were $8 more than Ryda but because they were closer and gave a 2 year warranty & 100 free photos I went with them. They really were $50-$100 cheaper than all others on a $800 unit so not sure what the previous comments are about, seems like someone… Read more

Beware of the prices – Beware of the pricing. They mark it up really high and is often much higher than you can get elsewhere. Having said that they have a good range of products and have a good refund policy - this is important especially with camera gear. I'm not sure about others but I do tend to change my mind more often than I would like. Also if buying a camera… Read more

and spending over a certain amount of money they provide free coupons for developing pictures - I found this quite useful.

Not all as advertised – the catalogue advertised match any genuine competitors price - done double warranty -done Free up to 200 prints had to ask for this - handed a card for only 100 due to amount spent. to use the free card you can only get 25 free prints per 3 months for a twelve month period. service could be described a sell camera - take money no advice - NO… Read more

recommendations on what is needed - we had to ask all questions - therefore just brought the camera no add on products.

This average to poor service meant they lost a big dollar sale prior to Christmas

I expected specialised service from a camera shop probably would have got better service from a department store.

Bad – If you like to pay full retail go for it...they claim to match competitors prices but they don't deliver on their schpeal. good range to windowshop too expensive, don't live up to their promise to match competitors prices.
